For the last time in 2017/18, we roll out our pre-Gameweek members’ article looking at the main armband contenders for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers.

Kicking off with an assessment of our Captain Poll, we then check in with the player and team data and the Rate My Team rankings before considering a differential or two ahead of tomorrow’s 2 pm deadline.

The Captain Poll

Three players dominate our final Captain Poll of the 2017/18 season.

Golden Boot rivals Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane claim the top two spots, with the Liverpool winger well clear of the pack on 39% backing for a home encounter against Brighton.

Despite blanking in each of his last two appearances, Salah’s relentless record at Anfield looks set to trouble a defence with just two clean sheets in their last 16 matches.

The Egyptian has scored in seven of the last eight in front of his own supporters, tallying 12 goals and three assists in that rune.

Furthermore, he has delivered a lofty nine double-figure hauls at home – more than any player.

Roberto Firmino served up his season-high 13 points in a 5-1 win over the Seagulls back in Gameweek 15 and looks the best alternative for the Reds, with Sadio Mane a doubt.

After scoring in three of his last four, Kane earns over 23% of the votes as Spurs finish their temporary stint at Wembley with a visit from Leicester’s porous defence.

The Foxes have just two clean sheets in 13 attempts and have struggled to keep out the Spurs striker in previous matches – Kane has fired five goals in their last two meetings.

Meanwhile, midfield trio Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Son Heung-min have all found the net four times in their last seven league starts.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang grabs third spot (11%) as Arsenal visit Huddersfield in Arsene Wenger’s last match in charge.

The top scoring player in Double Gameweek 37 with a haul of 23 points, Aubameyang is the most bought forward ahead of Sunday’s 2pm deadline.

The Gunners’ striker has bagged a goal or an assist in eight of his last nine outings.

His hosts have struggled to keep out top six sides in front of their own fans, conceding 13 goals in five meetings so far.

That could also profit Alexandre Lacazette, who is expected to return to the teamsheet after being rested at Leicester in midweek. The Frenchman has five goals and an assist in his last five appearances.

With the majority of votes going the way of our top three candidates, there’s plenty of scope for differentials heading into the last round of fixtures.

Having rung the changes in midweek, Pep Guardiola is expected to name a strong Manchester City line-up for a trip to Southampton.

Both Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling have much to make up for after a disastrous Double Gameweek 37.

The Brazilian blanked against both Huddersfield and Brighton at the Etihad but has scored in each of his last three road trips.

Rested against the Seagulls in midweek, Sterling mustered just two points over City’s pair of fixtures. With three goals and seven assists in his last seven, though, he could profit against a defence with two clean sheets in 17 at St Mary’s.

Leroy Sane is ending the season in strong form – a midweek trio of assists earned him an eighth double-figure haul of the season. The German has scored in four of his last six away matches.

The top target in midfield for transfers in, Wilfried Zaha has served up 14 points in each of his last two home matches ahead of a visit from relegated West Brom.

And Marko Arnautovic could be the man to deliver for West Ham as David Moyes looks to get one over former club Everton.

The Austrian has three goals and a pair of assists in seven and will face a defence with a single clean sheet over their last eight away from Goodison Park.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    A) play Mustafi and have no playing backup on the bench
    B) get Robertson / Van Anholt for -4 and bench Mustafi as backup

    Choose please, thanks.

    BOttomed 😉

    De Gea
    Christensen - Kompany - Vertonghen
    Zaha - Gross - Sterling - Salah - Alli
    Vardy - Kane
    (Ryan - Lowton - Morgan - Quarner)

    1 FT 0,1 ITB.

I'm 100 points ahead of my nearest rivals. But would like to advance even further overall.

Any obvious transfers, that I'm missing?

What would you guys do here? Thinking -4 is necessary to either improve DEF with DDG and Smalling out, or get Salah.

    DDG
    Smalling - Mawson - Tark
    Son - Alli - Sterling - Arnie
    Kane - Jesus - Jayew

    Ryan - Gudm - Dunk - Bednarek

Priced out of Pogba to Salah by his double price rise (and my general tardiness). Who else should I shift to make up the 0.1m I need:

    A - Smalling
    B - Lingard
    C - Jesus (to Firmino )
D - Kenedy (not playing, but gives me fewer options for replacement)

    Thanks

Got Bench Boost left and chasing 2nd but only 10pts ahead of 3/4th (money for top 3). Bench is Hart, Naughton, Quanar, and Bednarak.

Is it worth taking a hit for -4 for

A)Trent Arnold for Bednarak (1st already has Liverpool defender)
    B) Hart (want to change as wont play? for Henness or Adrian -4
    C Quaner - won’t play for Crouch
    D - stick and don’t lose 4pts.

Rival has taken a -4. My teams down to bare bones but hopefully get 11 out. Any of these worth a -4

    sorry bottomed...

    Willian & DeGea -> Zaha & Romero for -8?

Really don't want to take any hits but would have to play Ryan and Gross otherwise. Only interested in OR at this stage

    1. Miguel Sanchez

Play Ryan - could get a lot of save points

Not sure either worth a hit. Def can’t see Romero paying off as Ryan will get lots of save points. Quite like Willian to Zaha so if happy to take a hit then I’d just do that

    Help needed. 15 points clear

    DDG/Hennessy

    Long Robertson Davies Naughton Cedric

    Sane Sterling Lingard Salah

    Kane Jesus Rashford.

I’ve TC and B.B. left. (Don’t ask why). Which one will I use and any changes? Rival has 6 of the same players In Kane Jesus sane sterling DDG Robertson.

Everton tend to score goals from fewer shots (I think only Pool have a CS against them in the last 10) so less chance for Adrian save points, also West Ham are generally poor defensively so I wouldn't like Adrian.

Sterling. The most farcically over looked, even inexplicably sold, option this week.

Chasing, so no Salah. Plus I don't expect Pool to be full throttle once they go 2 up. Injuries way too risky against a rough Stoke team.

PVA(c) for me. GW37 looks to have lost me all my MLs, so need a big punt to pay off.

Kane. Because last week I TC'd Jesus and it was really annoying. And last season I missed the captaincy on Kane's late surge so if it happens again this year I would be really annoyed. Don't own Salah, but I'm not really chasing, just think he might have run out of steam.

Still undecided. Kane has a great record against Leicester, 9 goals against them in PL, and it really bothers Leicester fans because he spent that time on loan with them and was awful. Poch has talked about wanting 3rd place but I am worried with players like Foyth and KWP starting that the performance could be a little disjointed. Poch may start Moura over Son if he wants to give him PL minutes, which would further add to the unfamiliarity in the team.

I'm worried about Brighton's defence, they got it completely wrong against Liverpool at the Amex. Not much pace in that back four. Liverpool need a point and have had a week off, unlike Brighton. Although could Salah be taken off early if the match is won?

Might go for Sterling if I feel like taking a punt, he had a midweek rest and plays fairly central.

Will decide at 13:58 and probably change my mind three times.

Managers preview comments on BBC sport site show Puel is concerned with building upon Leicesters win whilst Hughton talked more about next season, suggests Leicester may be more focussed?

Interesting, Leicester got a few injuries though, a win moves them up one place perhaps?

Think Brighton playing midweek and Liverpool getting a rest could have an effect, fancy Liverpool to be sharp today even without the in form Mane

Raheem, city going for goals and he's usually involved...plus everyone's going Salah and I'm not really fussed about going down to far as my rank is average.

Kane as no Salah. Chasing 17 points behind and rival doesn’t have him.

Don't want to curse Salah with captaincy he's in my team tho.

Im just outside of top 20k with no real chamce of my season goal of top 10k so might as well taka a punt. I think Arsenal will be up for Wengers last game in charge against a team that is safe from the drop. Away form is a comcern but i think that they will want to put on a show. Auba captain for me. Good luck everyone

I am 12 points ahead in my mini league. I have no chips to play but know 3nd place has his triple captain and am 99% sure he will use it in Salah. Would you guys pick the same captain or someone different like abamayang?

Seeing so many people doing a goalkeeper transfer this week with DDG out and even doing it for a hit! If you have a playing 2nd keeper then just play them. Waste of a transfer with limited upside and cant see how a hit pays off on the last week

A hit on the last weekend should pay off or fail in the same way as it does every week. Only difference is that you won’t have time make up for it if it fails.

Have De Gea and Ederson in goal. Is Ederson really playing this GW, considering he was benched last game? Or is it worth changing Ederson to Karius. Don’t want to be without a playing goalkeeper.. Has Pep indicated anything? Or should I just do Mike van det Hoorn to TAA?

I have Ryan coming in for DDG, with an imminent and possible 0 points against a determined Liverpool side.

      What do you think?

At least you have a goalkeeper playing. Don’t know how your team is looking in general but I would have spent my money on other positions first if I knew for sure I had a playing keeper.
