May madness continues as we have yet another simultaneous Gameweek, except for one late match, on Monday (May 21). Once again, be on the lookout for those early team sheets, 15-30 minutes ahead of deadline.

Gameweek 11

FK Haugesund – Rosenborg

(Monday, 5:00 P.M.)

Haugesund are flying high. Last week they were the second team this season to take points off powerhouse Brann, and the first to do so on Brann’s home turf.  This week’s fixture isn’t much better as they host the second tightest defence in the league, but the Brann game showed us that they are capable of doing well against the good sides. David Akintola looked potent all game and is one to consider.

Rosenborg saw another improvement in their attacking game, having all three heavy hitters grab a goal each versus Lillestrøm midweek. Their defence still looks like a safe investment, after securing their sixth clean sheet in seven games.

IK Start – Bodø/Glimt

(Monday, 5:00 P.M.)

IK Start are having a horrible time back in the top flight and were routed 4-0 by Sarpsborg in their last road trip. They now host Bodø/Glimt, who are turning their season around in spite of an undeserved 1-0 midweek loss to Tromsø.  On current form there’s not much value to be found in Start, but Bodø might have a differential pick in Opseth with good fixtures coming up.

It is worth noting that Start fired their coach Mark Dempsey this week, just six months after his appointment. No replacement have been announced yet.

Kristiansund BK – Strømsgodset

(Monday, 5:00 P.M.)

Kristiansand are known for close encounters, but that reputation was shattered in their last run out when they were humbled 3-1 by visitors Ranheim.

They retain home advantage for their clash with Stromsgodset, with Daouda Bamba looking their best chance of points. His strike in his last game was his sixth of the season and third in a row.

Strømsgodset field a lot of premium-priced options, but are currently just two points above the relegation places. Their season is starting to look reminiscent of last campaign, where they fared poorly during the first half, before turning it around later on with an eight-in-a-row winning streak to take fourth spot. We eagerly await them turning the season around again, as they definitely have enough quality in their squad to do so.

Ranheim – Molde

(Monday, 5:00 P.M.)

Ranheim were expected to be bottom of every pecking order in this league, but they have shamed all predictions as they are currently on a champion-level streak with a third of the season done. Erik Tønne scored a brace to prove his value and punish his benchers, one of them a penalty after regular penalty taker Michael Karlsen had been subbed off.

Ranheim are hosting Molde, who had a nice upswing beating Strømsgodset midweek. Andreas Linde pulled a savepoint and clean sheet once more, comforting his high ownership, who incidentally will be relieved to see that he didn’t get a call up from Sweden for the World Cup.

Molde picks are still a minefield due to rotation, but there are some hopes of stability with Braut Håland, Hestad and Haugen as decent options.

Sandefjord – Sarpsborg 08

(Monday, 5:00 P.M.)

Sandefjord, like Start, are in freefall and offer little of interest to Eliteserien managers. They face a tricky task overcoming Sarpsborg, whose back up keeper Aslak Falch is perhaps worth considering having seemingly secured the number one jersey.

Also for Sarpsborg, Joachim Jørgensen and Joonas Tamm have locked down their place in the starting XI in defence, with Kristoffer Zachariassen the only mainstay in midfield and Patrick Mortensen looking secure up top. However, none of these look like super value though, as Sarpsborg have only kept four shut outs so far, and Mortensen picked up only his third goal last round.

Ethiopia international defender Amin Askar is one to watch for the the visitors. Last time out he got another start as a left winger, scoring two goals and assisting one (albeit a “fantasy assist”). We’re not sure if he’s nailed on as an our of position player, but if you’re looking for another defender he might be worth a punt. The uncertainty about his position in the team is underlined by the fact that Askar, who runs a Norwegian Fantasy Eliteserien podcast, doesn’t have himself in his own Fantasy team.

Stabæk – Odd

(Monday, 5:00 P.M.)

Stabæk are on a bad run of three narrow 0-1 defeats in a row. They could easily have scored against Vålerenga, with Ola Brynhildsen having a major penalty appeal turned down. Ohi Omoijuanfo has been frustrating for his owners lately with three blanks in a row. Brynhildsen still looks like a great pick at 5.0, he’s been close to returns over the last few games.

Odd have really found some form lately, especially at home, so it it will be interesting to see if they can carry on their good home form to Stabæk. Elba Rashani looks like the safest attacking pick, while Martin Broberg and Fredrik Nordkvelle offers budget options in midfield. Broberg has been getting a lot of new owners lately, but there’s uncertainty about whether he’ll continue to play up front or move down to midfield. The defence has been quietly been racking up clean sheet points after John Kitolano got dropped. Coincidence? Ruud is probably the best pick at the back, but it’s hard to find a place for him with all the other great rearguard picks.

Tromsø – Vålerenga

(Monday, 5:00 P.M.)

After a terrible couple of weeks, Tromsø managed to steal victory away against Bodø/Glimt. Gjermund Åsen missed out again, sitting on the bench for the full 90 minutes. Reports suggest he was fit to play, but he definitely wouldn’t have been out of the first XI if this was the case. Runar Espejord bounced back after three straight blanks with a beautiful goal.

Sam Johnson scored his seventh goal in ten games, and seems like the most reliable source of points up front. Center back Felipe Carvalho continued his hot streak with another clean sheet and an assist. In addition to his recent goal and assist in Eliteserien, he’s also scored in back-to-back cup games. Chidera Ejuke has frustrated his owners lately by not being involved in any of the goals their scoring. If you own him it might be worth looking at alternatives, although we know he is a “hot-and-cold” type of player that suddenly can haul out of nowhere.

Lillestrøm – Brann

(Monday, 7:00 P.M.)

Lillestrøm had a decent game against Rosenborg, and will feel hard done by losing 0-3. This week they will face the league leaders at home. Lillestrøm have been showing more promising signs lately, with Erling Knudtzon as the prime pick. Please note that he started out wide last Gameweek, before being moved up front for the second half. He’s also an injury doubt for the weekend.

Brann dropped points at home for the first time against Haugesund. While they did dominate most of the match, they struggled to created big chances and also looked vulnerable to Haugesund’s counter attacks. Daniel Braaten had to fill in at right back, and did look a bit suspect at times.

Early reports are suggesting that Ruben Kristiansen will be back for this game, allowing Gilli Rolantsson to shift to right back at the expense of Daniel Braaten. This will be a big boost for Brann’s defence compared to last week. Sivert Heltne Nilsen will miss out with a suspension after his fourth yellow card, which means Kristoffer Barmen most likely moving down to the holding midfielder role and Peter Orry Larsen coming into the line up if he’s fit again.

I submitted it, but it's co-written by me and MrKlin. Some of the latest articles have been 80-90% MrKlin, while a few weeks ago I wrote one all alone.

Maybe we should make it clearer who's writing what?

To be fair mate I don’t think you need to make it any clearer. Rvery Eliteserien article has always been brilliant. Never read a bad one, so well done to all and thank you for the helpful content.

              Just random curiosity, that’s all.

I guess most people knew they could see who’s written the article, I just didn’t realise it wasn’t visible on the mobile version.

                Fair enough.

Sometimes my and MrKlin differs though, so maybe it would be better to point out who wrote what. Sometimes there's things in articles submitted by MrKlin that's mainly my opinions, and vice versa.

Might punt with Berntsen against his old team, it worked with Lehne Olsen last week. If I had Åsen or Espejord I'd consider them too, Vålerenga seem to give up quite a few clear cut chances.

I'm sooo tempted with Reginiussen or Tønne. I think Ranheim easily could pull some shenanigans against Molde... But probably going for Skålevik. Haven't got Johnson, but I think he's the safest pick currently. Opseth could be interesting if I had him.

Just search "Eliteserien" and count mate.... Anyway, props to TC for kicking this whole thing off, and to Niemi for top content producer as he got in a good 10-15 before I got involved at all, and now it's a collaborative effort. And props to the FFS community, you guys have been GREAT both to us writers and to each other in here.

Yup it's been quite a ride. I knew there were some Noggies on this site so was hoping to gather 15-20 people in the FFS league. Genuinely had no idea it would take off as it did. And you and Niemi have just taken it to the next level this season. The community has been awesome and there's a nice camaraderie which I don't feel exists in the FPL section of this site.

This game has definitely revived my interest in the league. Barely watched one game before but now I try to catch 3-4 every GW.

It says one between 2-9 and second after the summer break between 10-28, so assume they mean before.

So we should activate it after thursday then if I got it right?

Anyone want to take a stab at "Must haves", "Nice to haves" and "Stay away" prospects for an Allsvenskan wildcard? I'm still very much in the dark despite decent results...

Yes before GW9 deadline next Saturday - https://twitter.com/AllsvFantasy/status/983325933036851200

I'm playing mine now. Had too many injuries, rotators, Malmo and Hammarby ahead of their blank. Getting couple of Sundsvall because DGW9 and just filling remaining spots with top of points/form/transfers in.

Ostersunds have 2 home games next, Djurgardens have 2 away - if a factor worth considering. Haven't looked post-summer, beyond question above, as I have no idea what could happen over 5 week break to affect players or form.

Tough one, can't say either way. Rolantsson likely to play right back though, something like his 3rd choice position I guess, might play into your eval. Don't think there is a "wrong" choice though.

Rolantsson is better as a right back than left back IMO, but not a big difference as he's capable of playing on both sides. He's right footed.

I'd look at fielding Hedenstad or Nilsen over Stølås this round, and keep an eye out for possible Knudtzon injury, it's touch'n'go if we'll see him play tomorrow.

Not convinced by your captain-pick either given Strømsgodsets form, but they do have it in them to haul so it's not bad either, just my gut.

There is an argument for getting on the Odd-train, but I can't quite see what transfer would make the most sense for you there....

I'm not sure if Broberg is a great pick as he's not going to play up front a lot (unless there are more injuries). Rather have Rashani.

I would just put Åsen in the lineup. He should play this week (yeah, for real this time), and it's a decent fixture for him.

    Who to cap?
    a) Broberg
    B) Johnson
    C) Wormgoor
    D) Skålevik
    E) Reginiussen
    F) Tønne
Seems like Odd and Brann have the easiest fixtures, and higher odds getting more points..seems like less point to CAP Wormgoor cause the norwegian Experts usually giving BP to Skålevik, Koomson and Heltne Nilsen ..and penalty maybe not coming too..

There's definitely a case for selling him. Persoanlly sold him for Skålevik two gameweeks ago. Okay fixture for him this week though. If you haven't got Johnson in yet I would consider doing so, if not it might be better to wait.

They have been starting to look better lately.

Reginiussen is too expensive for me at 7.0, rather have Hedenstad (or even Meling) at that price. He was okay value at 6.5.

Kept Helland since my GW3 WC, hopefully he'll start to pay me back now. If their form continues to improve over the next two games I'm considering Søderlnd for GW13, when Bendtner leaves for the WC.

Not sure what kind of injury, but they expect him to play tomorrow apparently. He did score in GW9 playing as a midfielder.

Started the first five gameweeks on the bench, scored one as a sub as a winger. Played as a striker from GW6-GW8 when Børven was injured, as well as in GW10. Only start as a CM was in GW9, where he scored a long shot.

  16. Eliteserien GW11 captaincy, transfers and benching headaches

A quick reminder that deadline is at 4pm today. The lineups will be out for all games ahead of the deadline, except for Lillestrøm - Brann.

In a week with no standout captaincy options, who are you trusting with the armband?

Who are you bring in this gameweek, and who are you getting rid of?

A lot of managers are having benching headaches this week. Who are you benching this week? Are you afraid your benching decisions might come back to bite you?

    1. Niemi
      • 12 Years
      8 years, 3 months ago

I'm still undecided on captaincy. Currently between Johnson and Pedersen, but I've also considered Skålevik, Koomson, Helland, Tønne and even Akintola.

Sold Ejuke for Rashani this week. I felt like it was time to get rid of Ejuke, and jumped on the Rashani train. I have a slight feeling I'm too late to the party with Rashani, considering they have played both Start and Sandefjord at home recently, but the transfer still made sense to me.

I'm not having the same benching headaches as other managers with bench fodders like Granli and Afeez in my squad, but I don't like benching Nilsen at home. Can't find room for him in my starting XI though.

    2. poohdini
      • 9 Years

Going with Pedersen myself. They are desperate for points. KBK conceded 3 last time out, Stromsgodset actually looked good against Sarpsborg. There are no other stand-out captaincy options either, and Pedersen is on penalties as well, so I think he's worth a shout.

I brought in Broberg in place of Valles (4.4 bench fodder from Sandefjord).

My bench is Nilsen - Afeez - Granli for now. If Broberg does not start or he's not up top, I may swap him with Nilsen (though I do not like the idea of having Nilsen and Johnson at the same time).

Im currently on Johnson K, could change to Åsen last minute. I think there will be goals in that game.

Im benching Acosta - Carvalho - Sæter. Playing Akintola, and Tønne ofc 😉

If we get some Knudtzon news ill be tempted to bench Reginiussen over Acosta.

Who here is playing double brann defs this gw?

      Good luck all!

Barli (Linde -- not sure yet)
      Wormgoor Tønne Meling (Rolantsson, Kitolano)
      Akintola Åsen Helland Rashani (Sæter)
      Skålevik Johnson Opseth

Currently on Rashani, bench is rieoculously expensive - Hansen, Ròlanttson, Hovland, Brynhildsen. Splitting up my double Brann and triple Rosenberg defenses as can see both conceding so hedging my bets.

On Johnson atm but expecting a low scoring draw so wouldn't mind being persuaded on someone else. Have same issue with Nilsen, but not benching Tonne and Brann/RBK defenders so highly owned. Still debating whether to start Nilsen/Brynhildsen over Akintola.

I've put the armband on Sam Johnson this week based on form alone.

Will probably not make any transfers as this is only my second gameweek so still learning the players!

    My team is:
    Sahin-Radlinger
    Wormgoor, Tonne, Hovland
    Akintola, Knudtzon, Rashani, Ulland Anderson
    Skalevik, Pedersen, Johnson(K)
    Subs: Karlstrom, Brynhildsen, Haakenstad, Grorud

Karlstrom still marked as out with Hjernerystelse which google tells me is concussion. Anyone have any idea how long he is expected to be out for?

    1. Niemi

Karlström only started playing recently because the first choice GK, Kongshavn, was injured. He's now back, so I don't think Karlström will get his place back when he's fit anyway.

You have a great keeper in Sahin-Radlinger though, so not really an issue for you.

    1. MTPockets

EUA's stats are better than Jradi's (shots, big chances created, key passes) plus free kicks and corners.
Not sure about now or wait for fixture pickup next gw.

Ejuke's fixtures are so bad that I'm tempted to wait until the deadline, see the lineups, and if everything looks fine just move ahead with it.

If they want to have any shot at the title they have to have a big next few weeks

        1. MTPockets

Fair enough. Valerenga have always struck me as a team that can beat anyone on a good day, but also lose to anyone.

I held on to Pedersen/Glesnes/Nguen waiting for this period, but sold Nguen. One reason for selling was having the EUA option. He's possibly my favourite eliteserien player when on form due to various avenues for pts, and esp when interplay with Jradi's working as it did towards end of last season - was really evident watching the games.

Are you worried about him playing deeper?

I still have Pedersen and would be looking at their defence but with Tønne, Nilsen, Wormgoor, and Hovlund I don't need another really.

EUA though seems the most explosive/highest ceiling. What's your strategy on him? Are you going to wait?

            1. MTPockets
              8 years, 3 months ago

Not worried as when on form tends to be involved in everything. But yes will wait for more results (last week was a start with assist - fk off underside of crossbar then keeper's back).

They now have kbk, SAN, iks, RAN, lsk, KBK, BG, odd, IKS. Tend to do much better at home but even so don't mind losing out on one/two games.

Main issue, as Niemi points out, is who to sell and whether to factor in RBK fwd.
Koomson - seems to be getting better every week
Akintola - form + good fixtures from gw12
              Rashani/Regi - maybe
Brynhildsen - would mean 3-5-2 but not keen with current setup as leaves an epic benching headache. But if Soderlund nailed when Bendtner leaves could work.

Well Johnson has Brann, Rosenborg, and Molde away from GW13-GW16, I might do Johnson > Soderlund

                1. MTPockets
                  8 years, 3 months ago

If SIF + RBK form seems worth it I'm looking at:
                  1) Rashani/Johnson to EUA/Soderlund, or
                  2) Brynhilden to EUA - headache - then Johnson/Skalevik to Soderlund/cheapo.

Likely 1) as no value in cheap fwds vs cheap mids, and 2) Whatever RBK's potential I doubt Soderlund warrants dropping Johnson + Skalevik in ppg terms let alone ppg/price terms.

Molde is a slippery team to understand. Hestad does seem the closest to a nailed option in that team, and they were hailed as one of the title challengers pre-season, so he SHOULD be likely to keep it up, but then again Molde SHOULD be right up there with Brann and Rosenborg too. That said they aren't that far off the pack, but their performance has been erratic at best.

Anyone know where games from Norway can be viewed live? ( stream or a satellite channel?)
Or where can I see a post-gameweek highlights package?

    Thanks guys:)

bet365 streams all games in UK I think. Probably need to have some money on your account.
