Harry Kane has become the current top scorer in the World Cup with five goals in two matches.

After another incredible FPL season it looks as if he may become an essential asset to own on World Cup Fantasy too. Meanwhile, Jesse Lingard looks like he could offer the best value when looking to invest in England’s attack.

We’ve got all the goals and assists from the Three Lions’ spectacular win over Panama tonight, and we’ll bring you the details of Japan v Senegal and Poland v Colombia tomorrow morning.

ENGLAND 6-1 PANAMA

TOP-SCORING PLAYERS

  • Harry Kane (£11.0m) – 16 points
  • John Stones (£5.5m) – 14 points
  • Jesse Lingard (£7.5m) – 9 points
  • Kieran Trippier (£5.5m) – 9 points
  • Felipe Baloy (£5.0m) – 7 points
  • Raheem Sterling (£9.0m) – 5 points
  • Ruben Loftus-Cheek (£6.0m) – 4 points
  • Ricardo Avila (£4.5m) – 4 points

Harry Kane’s (£11.0m) first-ever England hat-trick put him in pole position in the World Cup Golden Boot race on Sunday afternoon.

The Tottenham forward found the net three times as the Three Lions absolutely blew away Panama to qualify for the knockout stages, with defender John Stones (£5.5m) also scoring twice.

Such a dominant display may force a shift in the World Cup Fantasy market towards some of England’s key assets, even if it is Belgium up next for Gareth Southgate’s side.

Stones opened the scoring in the eighth minute as he headed home a Kieran Trippier (£5.5m) corner, completely unmarked.

Then in the 22nd minute England were awarded a penalty after Jesse Lingard (£7.5m) was bundled over. Kane stepped up and, despite two minutes of attempted gamesmanship from Panama’s players, smashed the ball into the top left-hand corner.

14 minutes later, Lingard got the goal that his performances against Tunisia and Panama deserved. Playing a nice little one-two with Sterling on the edge of the box, he let fly from distance and curled the ball into the top right-hand corner.

In the 40th minute, Stones had his second. In the aftermath of a free-kick, Kane headed back across goal to Sterling, whose nod was saved by Jaime Penedo (£4.5m). However, Stones was on hand to head high into the net to make it 4-0.

Kane netted the fifth goal in first-half stoppage time, once again from the penalty spot. Both he and Stones were hauled down in the box by Panama defenders and initially it was unclear which of the two simultaneous fouls had been penalised by the referee. It was later confirmed that Kane would receive the additional two points for winning the penalty and he dispatched it into the same part of the goal as his first.

Kane didn’t know much about it when he completed his hat-trick. Ruben Loftus-Cheek (£6.0m) took a shot from outside the box and his shot cannoned off the back of Kane’s foot to redirect it past Penedo.

With the result firmly in the bag, Kane and Lingard were withdrawn for Fabian Delph (£5.0m) and Jamie Vardy (£8.5m) to get some game-time. However, England took their foot off the gas after those changes, conceding in the 78th minute.

Ricardo Avila’s (£4.5m) free-kick from the left was turned into the net by 37-year-old substitute Felipe Baloy (£5.0m), frustrating those invested in England’s defence. However, owners of Trippier were fortunate to avoid losing their clean sheet. The Tottenham man was substituted off in the 70th minute before the goal, therefore banking the four points for a shutout.

With Romelu Lukaku (£10.0m) and Eden Hazard (£10.0m) both doubts for Belgium in Gameround 3, the form of Kane and Lingard may tempt Fantasy managers to invest in them before the Group Stages end.

ENGLAND XI (3-1-4-2): Pickford; Maguire, Stones, Walker; Henderson; Young, Lingard (Delph 63’), Lotus-Cheek, Trippier (Rose 70’); Kane (Vardy 63’), Sterling.

PANAMA XI (4-1-4-1): Penedo; Davis, Escobar, R Torres, Murillo; Gomez (Baloy 69’); Rodriguez, Godoy (Avila 63’), Cooper, Barcenas (Arroyo 69’); Perez.

Why is the overall rank different to the group stage rank on McD? Under 'my performance', it says: Overall, 119 points, rank 63374. And Group stage, 119 points, rank 69476. How can the group stage rank be different? We've only had group stages so far.

Ok I came up with this final draft. Have 0.5m in the bank but actually have no reason to spend it.

    Any suggestions/concerns with this?

Carvajal, Pique, Kimmich, Fagner, R.Rod (PK)
Quintero, Inui, Sigurdsson (PK), Jedinak (PK), Kroos
    Silva (PK), Messi (PK), Reus

GW 3 makes the most sense imo - some of the best scoring players in the game are rotation risks/have tough fixtures. Some desperate teams will lead to goals too.

Depends on the condition of your team...I'm waivering towards WC with this lot:

      El Kajoui (fighting Spain)
      Uzoho (desperate Argentina)
      Kimmich
      Meunier (rotation risk)
      Danilo (out injured)
      Varela (expected to be benched)
      Pavard (Sidibe possibly back)
      Isco
      Coutinho
      Cueva (nothing to play for)
      Meza (rotation risk)
      Inui
      Suarez
      Griezmann
      Lukaku (rotation risk)

The man Lionel Messi is causing me a major dilemma and I'm truly 50/50.

There's part of me that thinks Argentina are a shambles and, even if they do manage to overcome an excitable, confident Nigeria side, it may be down to narrow margins. Or they just continue to be dreadful and lose and I cheer at the fact I neve chose Messi.

The other part of me can't help but recognise him as the great player he is. The way in which the group has fallen is like the setting of Messi's stage but I'm just unsure as to whether he'll take the main role or be a bystander like the first two games.

What you think lads? Worth the inclusion?

I'm currently on it too. Only thing that puts me off him is that I know Ronaldo is a maschine, he wants that golden boot and he only cares about numbers so Ronaldo imo. Messi could be great but they truly are a terrible side. That midfield is...no comment. Whole team is colapsing.

The lack of desirable premium mids certainly makes getting both Messi and Ronaldo all the more tempting. There's Coutinho and James and then not too much for this gw for a number of reasons: Eriksen - poor fixture, Shaqiri - potential ban, Di Maria - he's in poor form, team's in poor form, muller - horrible form. Then you throw in the availability of Cheryshev & Quintero and it's sorely tempting to just get them both.

Agree. Better to go heavy 3 up top due to poor mids returns

Wouldnt bank on Russia vs a stubborn uruguay defence.. The Ronaldo/Messi combo could be good, but just seems a bit expensive

I'm confused. Is this a case for going for Messi and not getting Di Maria due to poor form and poor team form?

And defence, relatively speaking, is very tempting. Rodriguez - great fixture, on some set pieces (and maybe all if Shaqiri out). Can get Spain and Portugual defenders for 5.5, a Brazil starter for 5, and an absurdly attacking Kimmich for 6.5.
