FPL reveal selected prices for 2018/19 ahead of official game launch

Fantasy Premier League have revealed six prices ahead of launching the official game for the 2018/19 season.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero was the first to be announced, coming in at £11.0m. That’s £0.5m lower than his starting price for 2017/18 after a season of rotation and injuries.

However, his most recent total score of 169 was just six short of his 2016/17 from 500 fewer minutes. If Aguero can hold down a starting place at City, with Gabriel Jesus potentially returning late from the World Cup, priced at £11.0m he could attract decent ownership.

Going in the opposite direction is Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino who has risen from £8.5m to £9.5m after his best ever season on Merseyside. The Brazilian scored 15 goals and assisted eight times, finishing the campaign in over a third of squads worldwide.

Manchester United and Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku has seen his price drop by £0.5m this season going from £11.5m to £11.0m. He scored 16 goals and provided seven assists in his first campaign at Old Trafford, amassing an overall total of 162 points. Surprisingly, that was considerably lower than the 221 he registered in his final year at Everton.

Another player who struggled with injury last season is Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard, whose price has been frozen at £10.5m. His first return of 2017/18 did not come until Gameweek 9 and his total score of 173 was some way short of the 224 he registered in the previous campaign.

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka remains in the mid-range midfield bracket with a price of £5.5m. His total of eight assists was only bettered among Arsenal midfielders by Aaron Ramsey (10), Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (both nine).

Meanwhile, star Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves has been priced up at £5.0m for his first season in the Premier League, while Fulham wing-back Ryan Sessegnon has been classified as a midfielder.

Griezmann, Hazard will probably not try to score by himself as he will be surrounded. He tends to take the assists though

"Fulham wing-back Sessegnon" lol. He has never played wing-back. Used to be a fullback, now a winger

Is wingback a position? Or would you just describe an attacking full back as a wingback? He's never played in the position wingback, and yeah he used to be an attacking fullback, but he isn't anymore
