Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m) furthered his case for inclusion in Fantasy managers’ frontlines with a brace in West Ham United’s pre-season friendly against Preston North End on Saturday.

Jack Wilshere (£5.0m) made his debut in the same match, as the Hammers were held to a 2-2 draw by the Championship club.

Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m), who like Arnautovic has been reclassified as a forward in Fantasy Premier League this season, was also on target in Crystal Palace’s 3-1 win over Oxford United.

Andrew Robertson (£6.0m) set up Virgil van Dijk (£6.0m) for Liverpool’s opening goal in the 3-1 defeat by Borussia Dortmund in Charlotte, North Carolina on Sunday evening. Joel Matip (£5.0m) was forced off early in the first half with a thigh injury.

Dortmund had beaten Manchester City 1-0 a day earlier, with Riyad Mahrez (£9.0m) and Leroy Sane (£9.5m) both getting run-outs for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Manchester United were also in action in the USA, taking on San Jose Earthquakes in California. Jose Mourinho’s side drew the match 0-0 as Antonio Valencia (£6.5m) limped off with a calf problem. Alexis Sanchez (£10.5m) and Anthony Martial (£7.5m) both started the match as part of a front three with youngster Tahith Chong.

Rui Patricio (£4.5m) and Raul Jimenez (£5.5m) made their Wolverhampton Wanderers debuts in the 0-0 draw with Bochum on Sunday. Patricio saved two penalties in the subsequent shoot-out defeat.

A largely second-string Everton side also lost on penalties over the weekend after a goalless draw with Lille. A stronger-looking line-up then drew another blank in the 1-0 loss to Porto on Sunday night.

Jonny Evans (£5.0m) and James Maddison (£6.5m) made their Leicester City debuts in the Foxes’ 4-1 win over Notts County, with Demarai Gray (£5.5m) among the scorers.

A Fulham side that featured Ryan Sessegnon (£6.5m), Tom Cairney (£5.0m) and debutant Jean Michael Seri (£5.5m) were hammered 4-0 by Lyon.

AFC Bournemouth highlighted their attacking aptitude – and defensive frailties – in a 4-3 win over Levante, with Jermain Defoe (£6.0m) among the Cherries’ scorers.

Shane Duffy (£4.5m) and Jurgen Locadia (£5.5m) limped off as Brighton and Hove Albion slumped to a 2-1 defeat to AFC Wimbledon. Oliver Norwood was on target for the Seagulls from the spot.

Huddersfield Town and Burnley both played two friendlies over the weekend. The Terriers lost 2-0 to Real Betis and 1-0 to Werder Bremen (both matches lasting 45 minutes) in Germany, while Sean Dyche split his squad for the encounters with Macclesfield Town and Curzon Ashton. Johann Berg Gudmundsson (£6.0m) was on target in the 2-0 victory at Moss Rose, while Robbie Brady (£5.5m) returned from injury in the 5-1 win over the National League North side. Ben Mee (£5.0m) found the back of the net in this second match, with Sam Vokes (£5.5m) grabbing a brace.

Summer signing Josh Murphy (£5.0m) scored Cardiff City’s only goal in the 1-1 draw with Torquay United.

Our Scout Notes on Monday will analyse the weekend’s friendlies in greater depth, taking a closer look at personnel and formations and detailing every single goal-scorer and assist-maker.

So Martial has told Mourinho he wants to leave.

Where do you think he will end up?

Chelsea/Bayern is what I think if he does really leave. I'm surprised Barcelona aren't after him but are willing to pay 65M for a 30 year old (I get their preference of Spanish speaking players but they've got many French players so Martial should settle in nicely too).

I'd guess at 5.5m but I thought Neves would be 5.5-6m too and Moutinho offers about the same attacking threat.

I know it's a case of preseason team vs a team that is currently in season, but United being unable to even score against San Jose Earthquakes is pathetic.

United were playing the last place team in MLS who have conceded an average of 2 goals per game and have so far gone over 20 league games without a clean sheet

      Thanks Giggs!

Yeah, Brady is on my personal watchlist (if not the site's). Delivered more crosses than any player before his injury in GW15 last season. Hoping Dyche sticks with two of Barnes/Vokes/Wood in a 4-4-2 to give Brady twice as much to aim at from open play (they were mostly 4-5-1 while Brady was fit).

"Valencia is injured. And we need to get used to it."

Jose seemed to suggest that he knows Valencia can't be relied upon at his age and that cracks were showing last season. If he doesn't sign anyone else at RB, Dalot is one to monitor closely over pre-season.

Thoughts on this only getting Richarlson if he goes to Everton

    Ederson
    Baines / Daniels / PVA
Salah / Richarlson / De Bruyne / Mkhi
    Tosun / Aubameyang / Zaha

    Fabianski, Cedric, Stephens, Peltier

How’s it looking? Decent, or a pile o’ bollox? Anywhere to use the 1.0 ITB, or keep it?

    Ederson 4.0
    Robertson Douglas Mee Tomkins Peltier
    Salah Mahrez Silva Sigurdsson Ward
    Auba Zaha Kamara

Wanted ederson as my new fpl season gk since late last season
Now with patricio coming and his 4.5 price, I'm in doubt...

It's worth giving some time to WLV to see how they perform in PL.
If they do well, you can downgrade to Patricio.
I prefer a safer bet with Ederson and the fixtures MCI have from gw2.

Bailly or Mendy? Got no City defense cover.

MCI clean sheets cover will probably essential early on with those fixtures.
      Mendy in your case

I wouldn't bench him though. Got to play a 6 mil defender with attacking properties.

this is my dilemma don't really want to put a 6.0 M defender on the bench might still take a gamble and play him

Belerin weak defensively last season. Mendy could beat him and we know he can cross that thing.

Which teams/players do you expect to drop in price in the first gameweeks?
Since they played till the end of the world cup but are highly owned, this should happen to Trippier, Maguire, DeBruyne, Lingard, Pogba, Kante, Kane, Lukaku.
If they don't show up from the start, their owners will kneejerk to get the ones who play.
I expect something similar to happen with ARS defenders, with those 2 fixtures at the start.

      Could be Bobby, TAA, Son.

Anyone else avoiding tripling up on any team at the start of the season?
    I feel like doing so.
It adds flexibility in case unexpected gems emerge out of nowhere (mainly for top 6 teams)

liverpool are the only team in considering starting with a triple up
currently on Robbo - Salah - Mane
But thinking i might need Bobby instead of Mane

Well in my line up all my players fall within last years top eight.
I have gone treble man city aguero sane ederson
      Treble liverpool mane VVD robertson
Double Burnley with an arsenal and everton player thrown in.

I assume I will gradually change city players to more arsenal so I don't see a problem with it.
Overthinking it at this stage is pointless.
      Literally!

I think thier defence will be much better since they will not start that clown of a keeper.
Robertson assured starts no messing with the likes of TAA/Clyne until things settle.
VVD has great attacking potential at set pieces the fella is a monster.
Oh I have bailly from united as well left him out.

I can't see myself moving to Salah unless he looks like he is sharp and I don't think he is.
Mane has the potential to do better no injury worries etc
Looked lively at the world cup.

Great value at 7.5m where will he play for liverpool?

Lallanas number 8 position I think. But he is an all round midfielder. Can play anywhere which is what is so good about him.

Klopp on Sturridge: "He is in very good shape, that’s true. It was a very intense pre-season so far and he was part of pretty much all the sessions. He looks really good. Who doubts Daniel Sturridge when he is fit? I don’t. He is an outstanding player, hopefully he can stay fit and then the future is bright. He is still young enough, it’s not that he is 30-something [...] He stays in the game and it’s good for us to have him around. You saw it today. The second half without Daniel would have looked completely different. It was that good because we had Daniel in the right spaces and he could lead the group with the ball, if you want. That was really good. I’m fine with him, 100 per cent."

It's very unlikely but don't you think if he continues like this he will hurt Firmino's minutes?

      A) easy he will be the fulcrum of the side again behind the striker and baines will let him take pens if he wants them,
      Already the set piece man.
