Best Manchester City players to sign on FPL in 2018/19 – Complete Members’ Analysis

How do Pep Guardiola’s team follow the season just gone? Manchester City cantered to their fifth league title win with five matches of the 2017/18 campaign to spare, breaking a host of records along the way.

Their run of 18 consecutive victories from August to December was the longest winning sequence in English football history, while their total of 100 points was the most ever recorded in England’s top flight.

A total of 106 goals, a goal difference of +79 and a title-winning margin of 19 points were also Premier League records.

Investment in this City side is, as was the case last season, a must from a Fantasy perspective, particularly since the release of the fixture list in June.

After a trip to the Emirates in Gameweek 1 (a fixture City won 3-0 last season, it should be said), Guardiola’s side then face all six of the most recently promoted clubs – four of whom will take on City at the Etihad.

Fantasy Premier League managers would have a strong case for using all three of their permitted slots for City players, though the fly in the ointment is that 16 of the champions’ first-team squad were on duty for their respective countries at the World Cup this summer and Guardiola’s pre-season preparations have thus been affected.

Price hikes for the likes of Raheem Sterling (£11.0m), Leroy Sane (£9.5m) and Nicolas Otamendi (£6.5m) would also prohibit widespread Fantasy investment in City’s premium assets.

Ok, so Draft number 2 from me - early focus is on

    - Making use of Martial until Arsenals fixtures turn then it'll be over to Myki
    - Similarly if Aguero not firing, looking to shift to Aubamayang

3rd striker at 4.5 is not ideal as it means 4 at the back, but HUGE amounts of value in defenders I feel early on this season

GK - Not sure yet - got total of £9 mill to spend on them (begovic/ryan/fabianski)

    DEF - Mendy / Robertson / Tomkins / Mee
    (Peltier)

    MID - Salah / Mahrez / Martial / Milivojevic
    (Stephens)

    ATT - Aguero / Firmino
(Kamara or other 4.5 fodder e.g. Quaner)

    Thoughts?

look great mate. 3rd FW, 4th MF or 4th DF is the key imo

I get your point, playing all four is probably a bit much and my 5th midfielder is a a bit rubbish also......

Not sold on Milivojevic, I might end up
        - selling him and Stephens
        - Replacing them with a 5 and 5.5 (so I can potentially play 3/5/2 or rotate the 4th and 5th mid)
        - spending the extra money upgrading a defender (although to be honest for first few weeks I'm happy with Tompkins as 4th defender playing every week).

        Thanks for the feedback

any thoughts / improvements on the below? I'm fairly happy...

    Ederson / Fabi
    Robertson / Tomkins / Cedric / Mee / Douglas
    Cairney / Salah / Mili / Sane / Sigi
    Aguero / Tosun / Reid

    Thanks in advance

How do you reckon Leicester will line up at the back?

Schmeichel is linked to a move with Chelsea but at the moment..

      Schmeichel
      Perreira Maguire Evans Chilwell

      Probably.

IF Schmeichel does sign for Chelsea, then surely it means we are all playing effectively a 10 man FPL season, it would be madness not to have him in your team, wouldn't it?

Yes, every chance of that happening and I’d definitely jump on board.

Still, there’s no guarantee he’ll be the best pick, even at that price range. Maybe we’ll all ditch for Leno or downgrade him to a 4.5 goalkeeper who is overachieving.

I agree, but this could also mean whe get a 4.5 Leicester goalkeeper Jakupovic to rotate with someone else.

Coming round to Wood over Tosun. Wood more nailed and has better goal conversion. Still to see who Silva favours at Everton. Any thoughts, Tosun seems to be an FFS staple.

I bet your defence isn't that good.

          Planning transfers rarely works, yeah...

Still plenty of time to make some decisions. More info will be provided within the upcoming month.

BTW, if you do Aguero > Auba, you'll be City-less in attacking.

My dilemma was between Walcott and Sess. I'm leaning towards the Everton mid because:

Me too, but thats from GW3.

Im fine having Auba for CITY and che, but dont expect any ARS CS in the first 2 GWs.

Bellerin for sure in my team from GW3 or 4. And probably till the end of the season

Do you really want to be tied in to making a defensive swap for Bellerin in GW3/4? Think it's prob better to just get him in to start esp if you can use other defenders in the first couple weeks.

Coleman is by far the best way to cover Everton defence. Palace have Wan Bisacka, Tomkins and Sakho as wonderful options.

OK here's my draft, would love some thoughts:

    Foster (Fabianski)

    Robertson Smalling Mendy (Femenia Malone)

    Martial Sessegnon Salah Sane (Ralls)

    Firmino Arnie Perez

Really wanted Kun in there but I just know he's going to be rotated so much it's hard to justify 11.0.

    Ederson-Speroni
    TAA-Douglas-Daniels-Keane-4.0m
    Salah-Ali-Mikhi-Jota-4.5m
    Morata-Lukaku-Zaha

Any Suggestions will be greatly appreciated

    Pick one :
    Aubameyang
    Agüero
    Lukaku
I like Kun. But is he in a rotation risk?

      Yeah...too much money in defence.

Maguire...I'd only have him if he moves to a bigger club

Trippier @ 6.0m is too much...back late from WC and will rotate with Aurier

      Walker's overpriced @ 6.5m...Mendy @ 6m is better...also back late from WC

      Azpi's OK

To me its not "too defensive", but I think its more about the players youve got then the outlay. Your paying 5.5 and 6.0 6.5 to Get Mag, trippier and walker. Both prob wont play gwk 1-2 and trippier has also comes eith fanger of rotation.

Maybe youd rather want to have these players in defence instead?

      DDG
      Bellerin, Robbo, Ota, Azpil

*pogba not a likely starter the first gwks aswell
