Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

Site regular and moderator ZoumasBloomers has here given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team, and please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted and will spend some time on these pages responding, but this will work best if you help out others as well as getting responses.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

ZoumasBloomers’s RMT

Fabianski – Patricio

Mendy – Robertson – Cedric – Wan-Bissaka – Tomkins

Salah – Mahrez – Mane – Richarlison – Cairney

Aubameyang – Arnautovic – Sorloth

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5m, obviously a quality goalkeeper with international pedigree, and Wolves have some tight fixtures. Seems a no brainer for the 4.5 rotations, after Ryan/Fabianski didn’t rotate well. Sounds like Wolves were quite tight last year as well.

Fabianski – 4.5m, still got memories of his seemingly random hauls last year. Guaranteed save points. Hopefully going to West Ham doesn’t diminish his point scoring potential (still haven’t forgiven Ogbonna from last season)

Defenders

Mendy – 6m, a bit of a punt early on as he seems to be made of tissue paper and not played many minutes, but from his brief spell last season it’s very clear that he offers attacking potential on top of a decent defensive record. Delph and Zinchenko don’t seem to be in favour, and there’s every chance of a very tasty return to 5 at the back from Pep at some point. Will monitor Community Shield.

Robertson – 6m, should be nailed early season, and has some pretty tidy fixtures. Will get in a few crosses, and very easy to switch down to free up funds if pressing issues arise. May even do a goal. Chances are high that he will become a Man Utd defender once their settled XI becomes apparent, but for now I am happy to avoid Jose’s grumpy circus.

Cedric – 4.5m, I’m expecting absolutely nothing from this bloke, may not even start after the World Cup, and doesn’t get as many attacking returns as he should. However, he seems cheap and fixtures are reasonable. Easily benched if needed. A rabbit hole I seem to dive down at the beginning of every season, at least he wastes less money than Bertrand did last year.

Tomkins – 4.5m, Seems to keep clean sheets when paired with Sakho, and does pose a threat from set pieces. Some decent early fixtures providing Palace start better than last season. Roy should have them in a reasonable shape.

Wan-Bissaka, 4m – Would prefer for this to be Peltier, but injury has put me off there. Likely to be perma-benched unless I shift Tomkins early doors. Could prove to be nailed, and should at least offer some price rises as people realise this.

Midfielders

Salah – 13m, I’m too scared not to.

Mane – 9.5m, I like the look of Liverpool fixtures, and Mane has certainly had a good pre-season. Could possibly be on penalties, definitely seems fresh, and gives a good coverage of Liverpool’s attacking options so that I can spread my strikers around. Will have to put up with a few 60 minute substitutions though.

Mahrez – 9m, all aboard the Pep Guardiola rotation wagon. If playing, he should be high up the field, and was experimented with as number 10/false 9 in preseason. No WC fatigue, just need to wait on injury news. Can easily become David Silva if signs are that he may not start. Fully expecting disappointment after I WC’ed him in last season and he cost me a top 1k finish. Could have some free kicks off KDB if he is feeling generous.

Richarlison –  6.5m, What on earth am I doing!? The man has a 50p head, and misses 1 on 1s for fun. However, £50m signings should start every game, and Everton have great fixtures. Should have a point to prove under Marco Silva, and a proper summer of rest after playing for nearly 12 months last year. Could well be this year’s bargain if he finds his shooting boots. Worth a punt, and a goal in preseason is a good sign.

Cairney – 5m, I’ll be honest, I’ve never seen him play. Looks the best of the 5m options for me purely because Kenedy has shocking early fixtures and Neves plays deep and loves a card. Fully expect Cairney to shuffle to Kenedy on my first WC. Will rotate with my 4th defender and 3rd striker.

Forwards

Aubameyang – 11m, the man that everyone will want from GW3. I’d love a nailed Aguero but I’m concerned that Jesus will steal some minutes in that GW2 fixture against Huddersfield. Saving myself the hassle of a transfer by starting with the Arsenal man, has every chance of scoring vs a travelled City side in GW1 anyway

Arnautovic – 7m, never a dull moment, equal chances of scoring a brace or elbowing someone in the head. Has been banging them in in pre-season, and West Ham’s fixtures aren’t as bad as made out (and they boast a decent squad this season). Concerned that Zaha may move back into midfield, or that his head will have turned by transfer rumours, so going with the early season form and security here. Only issue is that some re-jigging will be needed to turn him into Firmino if things go south.

Sorloth – 5m, Reasonable start to his Palace career, looks quite sharp for an absolute lump of a man and may well header a few in at some point. Likely to always be on the bench, but offers more potential than the 4.5m strikers. Nicely fills out an all Palace bench for me as well.

CONCLUSION

A lot of very highly owned players being overlooked, but a lot of decent price players that can be easily switched.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Where have I gone wrong, and where have I gone right? What do you suggest I change? Feel free to tear into me in the comments!

Remember, post your RMTs below in this article. There will be another new RMT Community Article tomorrow.

havent really been following pre seaosn gems that much tbh, has Josh King actually done something to warrant the attention on here? I dont mind having him but if its jsut a total punt then meh. What position is he likely to be playing? Wilson starting up front?

I make it 4 goals in pre-season for him. He's delivered good points over the last few years too so worth a look.

Likely to play second striker, behind Wilson or Defoe.

    Until today I was actually set on my strike force of Arnie, Auba and Mitro. I now want Aguero, but don't want to lose Auba. Which mid/for combo do you think;

    A

    Salah Mahrez Mane Richarlison

    Auba Arnie Mitro

    Or

    B

    Salah Bernardo Silva Richarlison Pedro

    Auba Aguero Arnie

Defence is Bavies, Lovren, Wan B, Dunk & Cedric with both

Replied to a bunch of RMTs at the top of the last page, so hoping for some decent feedback myself 🙂

I've gone for a risky backline with a view towards a wildcard in either the first or second international break. As soon as KdB is back, Sanchez and Bilva will make way to incorporate the Belgian. Currently torn between Begovic/Boruc and Patricio/Norris, but leaning towards the former to start the season purely due to fixtures.

    Begovic (Boruc)
    Robertson Mendy AWB (Peltier Bednarek)
    Salah Sanchez Bilva Costa (Chalobah)
    Aguero Firmino King

    Many thanks in advance!

2x 4m defenders not cheap enough for you? 😉

My concern is I'm struggling to see where the money has been spent because you have both Wan B and Costa in your starting 11.

I don't know if you're particularly fond of Sanchez, but I'd downgrade him and use the cash to up Costa to, say, Richarlison. Only issue is my go to player would have been Mane, but you already have Salah and Firm, plus Robertson...

I think it's a very good team. I'd worry about planning 2 transfers just to get KDB, when you may well end up WCing not long after.

I hope it doesn't sound harsh at all. I genuinely think it's a great team, just not perfect. Then again, what is perfect 😉

Appreciate the feedback mate, will take it on board. No doubt there'll be a few tweaks over the next few days.

I have my heart set on a Robbo - Salah - Firm and Mendy - KdB - Aguero based team, which makes up £55.5m of my budget.

Reason for Sanchez is that once I have KdB in, I'll be aiming for a midfield structure of something like 13 - 10 - 6.5 - 6.5, but none of the 6.5(+2.5) = £9m options (Mahrez - impossible, Alli - no thanks) impress me. I could in theory go Eriksen but not enamoured with him either. Sanchez the best looking option short term, for me 🙂

Not harsh at all mate, I found it very constructive. Thank you!

Fair enough - not sure you are gonna get a defence playing every week ... then if Bernardo is also subject to rotation could be a few holes

I have a team with Salah and Sanchez and Auba at the mo and I think I am going with that, I personally think is a bit more balanced than yours

I'm pretty much banking on AWB holding down the RB spot until my WC, and then crossing my fingers that if he doesn't, Peltier or Bednarek plays that week so I can amend the week after 🙂

Sanchez will be an interesting one, if he doesn't return in first 2 games do you think he'd last until your wildcard?

I'd go Patricio/Norris out of those two (assuming ruddy isn't 2nd choice??).

Bournemouth have shown they aren't great for CSs regardless of fixtures. The promoted teams can sometimes get a good start as well. Slim pickings for making a decision really.

      1. Obi-1 Kenobi-0
        • 10 Years

Sanchez is likely to be the one downgraded in order to free up funds for Bilva -> KdB.

Other alternative is Firmino -> 7.0, but that's only if Sanchez starts the season absolutely on fire, which I think is unlikely. Would be happy with 12 points over the two games from him, as he's essentially only a place holder for KdB 🙂

If not Burnely clean sheet potential early on the season I would have Bednarek as well. Wan-Bissaka seems to be more nailed at the moment.
Try to fit one of premium strikers (Kun?).

    2. Deulofail

Wan Bissaka looks your best bet. I'd expect more defensively from Palace than Southampton, too.

Your team looks good to me. Not keen on the value of Arnie or Tarkowski personally, but if you like them, then I see nothing much wrong with it.

Have you avoided Zaha because of the other 2 Palace players in your team? Or Wan-Bissaka? I personally rate him higher than your three current forwards.

Regarding your 1.0 ITB, I would say this is fairly needless when you have 3 cheap forwards. There's a strong possibility that you might want to spend money in this position instead of getting KDB. For example, if you are monitoring Arsenal, you might find yourself wanting Aubameyang for GW3. In which case, you'll be making 2 FTs anyway and you'd have squandered the 1.0 ITB for 2 weeks. I would personally spend it now, perhaps on Getting Zaha and/or upgrading Tarkowski.

Bailly injured today and Luiz looks poor. Chelsea look farrr from playing the SarriBall that we seen at Napoli.

Looks very good, pity about the keeper... see below saving via using Allison instead of Robbo... but if your adamant you want him that’s a great draft

No, not adamant about Robertson. 6.0 defender easy to move to most defenders when needed.
Allison would get me a better 3rd defender yes.

Confident having 2 4.0 defenders? Bilva is so short term imo.
Taking it Alexis is a placeholder for KDB/Hazard/Erikson.

Yes I think I will get 2 weeks out of Shaw and possibly more if he kicks on a bit...

Bilva is so easily downgraded to Jota Fabregas Mhkitaryan Ramsey but again he looks really sharp and nailed at the moment

Wanb looks nailed ... Peltier is the next best fodder....

        How is this looking?

        DDG
        Robertson - Kabasele - Mendy
        Salah - Richarlison - Mane - B. Silva
        King - Mitrovic - Aguero

        Hamer - AWB - Bamba - Chalobah

        * Covers all of Man Utd's clean sheets
        * B. Silva is probably going to stay until I WC around GW 4
        * The Kabasele / Bamba / AWB rotation gives: BHA NEW hud SOU hud
        * Chalobah should be fit to play in GW 1 or 2 according to his manager's comments, but hopefully I won't be needing him to come on
        * Mitrovic, King, Aguero all on pens - Mane might be too

Since he joined Fulham, he scored 12 goals and got 1 assist in 15 starts (over 40% goal involvement). Also supposedly on pens.

Ogbonna plays liv BOU ars WOL.
I can't see West Ham keeping a CS in any of those games (even the ones I'd start him in), while I expect Watford to play more defensively.

Thanks. Pep's comments were the main reason I brought him in. He should be good for a few GWs at least, and then he's an easy switch to Siggy / Ramsey / whoever looks in form.

Can't see Bournemouth keeping many clean sheets, but I expect them to score a reasonable amount of goals so their defenders might not get many BP. On the other hand, Cardiff should play more defensively and probably won't score that many goals, and Bamba fares well in terms of CBI.

Looks good to me! Not convinced that pens would make up the difference from MitroKing to Wood or Zaha. But I'm certainly intrigued by Mitrovic. If he weren't facing City and Spurs in the first 5, I might have gone in for him.

The rotation appears to be good, but I would be concerned that it's only appearances. At the end of the day, you are playing a 4.5 defender each week in a good fixture, so I'd be tempted to just choose the best 4.5 def (e.g. Schlupp?) or downgrading one to afford a 5.0 def if you have any confidence in a 4.0 option (could just be a 3rd sub with you utilising AWB more often). Or downgrading one to upgrade Chalobah (Hughes?) so you have legit cover for any rotation in your attack. I just feel like there's no point spending the 0.5 extra on a defender unless they are good lol.

                      Hope that's useful

Cheers. Originally I was set on Wood, but he's injured and I'm not sure what Dyche has in plan for the EL. Zaha is too much of a risk in case he ends up leaving Palace.

I think the 0.5 upgrade from Peltier to Bamba is significant, because Peltier has been described as being Cardiff's weakest player, while Bamba fares well in CBI and is more of an attacking threat. He's also more likely to play, since Peltier was rotated sometimes last season. Getting two 4.0's could mess up the entire rotation since that would mean bringing in yet another rotation risk. Also Chalobah had a fair amount of shots before he got injured, so he's not complete fodder at 4.5M.

Compared to Peltier, sure, though only in a straight comparison based on PPG. If you only include the matches they would play, and give them 0pts for the matches you would bench them, the the relative value difference between them would become less.

But what I really meant one of 2 things.

                            1) 0.5 more than AWB. I know you can't own 2 AWBs, but if you can't do 0.5s worth of points better than him with a 4.5 defender, I find a way to play him more often and a way to upgrade the 4.5 or downgrade to fodder.

                            2) 0.5 more than fodder. If you're not playing these players every week, that 0.5 has to but you enough points in the few weeks you actually do play them, but the differential in points at this price range may not be enough to do that. Which again leaves me to conclude that you might want to find another way to distribute the money.

Just my thoughts on it though. And we're talking really fine margins here, nothing that'll make or break your season haha

But what if I go to start Peltier and he gets rotated? It's something I have to take into account, and I think the 0.5 difference between Bamba and Peltier is going to be significant.

Okay. One of my points is that a double rotation with 4.0 fodder instead of a triple with another 4.5 might be better value. But if you disagree, that's cool 🙂
