Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

In our fourth article of the series, Niemi has given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team; please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted and will spend some time on these pages responding.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Niemi’s RMT

Patricio – Hamer
Mendy – Robertson – Shaw – Wan-Bissaka – Bednarek
Salah – Mane – Mahrez – Richarlison – Jota
Aguero – Mitrovic – Kamara

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5 – I really like Patricio as a GK, I think he’s genuine quality. At 4.5 in a team that have strengthened a lot during the summer I think he could be one of the great bargains this season. It’s a slight risk going with a GK who’s new to the league in a promoted team, but it’s a risk that could easily pay off. I’m going to play him every week.

Hamer – 4.0 – It seems like Hamer have a shot of starting some games for Huddersfield, so he’s my pick of the 4.0s

Defenders

Robertson – 6.0 – Impressive end to last season, very attacking, decent opening fixtures and no World Cup. An easy and sensible pick in my eyes.

Mendy – 6.0 – I was initially lukewarm to Mendy as a pick, but he looks likely to start the first few games and Pep seems confident he’ll become a key player in the Manchester City side this season. With the amazing run of fixtures between gameweek 2 and 7 I’m taking the risk.

Shaw – 5.0 – Another defender I wasn’t convinced about earlier in the preseason. Although he’s now found his way into my team, I’m not totally convinced on how long he’ll remind a starter. Probably the player in my team I’m least convinced about.

Wan-Bissaka – 4.0 – Has made the right back spot his own during preseason, and is an obvious pick with Palace’s nice opening fixtures. I’ve seen Crystal Palace linked to a few right backs though, so I’m monitoring their movements on the transfer market the final days.

Bednarek – 4.0 – Emerged late last season as a budget defender and kept his price for this season. Seems to be prefered alongside Vestergaard and de Hoedt in the back three, but is facing competition from Stephens. A more nailed option is Peltier from Cardiff, but I feel Bednarek has a higher ceiling hence why I’m going with him currently. Swapping Shaw and Bednarek with 2×4.5 is something I’m weighting up.

Midfielders

Salah – 13.0 – Doesn’t really need an explanation. Been in my team since the game opened, and not going anywhere. Captaincy option every week.

Mane – 9.5 – I’ve had Eriksen in this spot for most parts of the pre-season, but Tottenham is a big worry at the moment with many players yet to return from the WC break, squad players injured, and transfer business yet to happen. Mane is for me the obvious replacement showing decent form in pre-season, as well as kind fixtures at the start and potentially penalties.

Mahrez – 9.0 – Been in and out of my team, but after the game against Chelsea I feel fairly settled with him. Looked dangerous and could easily had returns on another day. Bernardo Silva has crossed my mind, but despite Pep’s quotes I’m not convinced he’s a better pick for the start of the season.

Richarlison – 6.5 – An amazing pick at the start of last season, before totally disappearing. Had great underlying stats, and he’s a player I personally like. Everton’s pre-season form is a worry, but the potential is definitely there at 6.5.

Jota – 6.5 – Been in my team for most of the season. A key attacking player in an interesting Wolves side, and could even be used up front in some games. I’m well aware there’s a good bunch of players that do well in Championship but can’t reproduce those performances in the Premier League, but I have a feeling Jota won’t be one of them. Maddison at Leicester is also a player I’m closely monitoring and I can’t rule out him finding his way into my team at the expense of Jota or Richarlison.

Forwards

Aguero – 11.0 – A player that always finds his way into my team, who I love captaining. This season is no different; he’s been in my team the whole time and the game against Chelsea just made me more confident.

Mitrovic – 6.5 – A player that I like a lot personally. I hoped he would come in at 6.0, but I still think he could be decent value at 6.5. I fully expect him to be Fulham’s penalty taker this season, which is a big advantage.

Kamara – 4.5 – Decided early I wanted to go with a third forward at 4.5, and Kamara seems to be the pick of the bunch. I don’t expect him to be a regular starter, but he’ll probably get some minutes here and there.

Conclusion

I feel fairly confident in my team right now, but a few minor changes are possible. The defence is slightly risky but otherwise I feel my team is pretty safe with decent alternatives to my midfielders and forwards available at the same price point.

What are your thoughts on my team? Have I missed out on any obvious picks, or gone with players that I shouldn’t?

Remember, post your RMTs below in this article. There will be another new RMT Community Article tomorrow.

    Is a front three of:

    Aguero - Firmino - King

    Too weak?

not weak at all. There is just a small risk of Firmino not playing the first week and aguero sharing pitch time with Jesus.

Strong team. Daniels might get rotated when the new defender's suspension is over. Don't know whether Costa will start if Traore signs for Wolves

Not sure how Burnley will rotated their squad around games in Europe to be honest. Played a decent amount of minutes last year though. Prefer Cairney at that price myself

A or B? *Double Liverpool defence not necessary in B. Could always have any other premium def instead.

    A) Luiz + Mane + Mahrez + Kamara (bench)
    B) Robinson + Richarlison + Auba + Cairney (bench)

    A)
    Patricio
    VVD Mendy Luiz PVA
    Salah Mane Mahrez Jota
    Aguero King

    Hamer Kamara Wan-B Stephens

    B)
    Patricio

thanks. Think it's much value in those 6.5 options this year. Missing Mane in B though. Not sure if double Liverpool def is the way to go. One of them could easily become Bailly/Coleman/Walker (if Cairney > 4.5)

Not balanced so I know it won't be universally liked, but I may very well go with this:

    Patricio
    Schlupp - Tomkins - Mendy
    Mané - Salah - BSilva - Alexis
    Jiminez - Aguero - Tosun

    Stekelenburg - Odoi - Wan-Bissaka - Peltier

    1. Champione
      • 10 Years

Too risky having Schlupp + two 4.0 options imo. Love your Sanchez pick. Had him in my team as well but downgraded him as United don't look very promising attacking wise

I am sticking with Sanchez for my team. United look boring, but Sanchez looks like the only one attacking, so if they score, its gonna be him.

        Also-three Palace defenders?

good points. Good value in Palace defenders but I think two is enough. Schlupp > Cook/Kabasele maybe?

Schlupp's playing LM. I'll swap him out for Cedric once he starts or a Newcastle defender.

Sanchez was the last to enter my team. Just got tickets to the match on Friday so want the added interest in my team! He can become Hazard, KdB, Eriksen or a cash cow for Aguero > Kane.

    DDG (Speroni)

Davies, TAA, D. Luiz (Daniels, Bednarek)

    B.Silva, Salah, Eriksen, Richarlison (Stephens)

It's good. I just think you're going to regret not having one of Arnie, Zaha or Tosun. One of them is going to start scoring, and then you're going to be pushing funds around to get them in. I like the BSilva pick. He isn't in enough RMT's.

Thoughts on this? never played a 4-4-2 before..leaves 0m itb

    Patricio -- Foster
Robbo Mendy PVA Shaw -- AWB
Salah Sanchez Bilva Rich -- Cairney
    Kun Arnie -- kamara

    Other options include:
A: Downgrade PVA > 4m def and upgrade stephens > Jota to play 3-5-2

B: Downgrade PVA > 4m def and upgrade Kamara > King to play 3-4-3

There will be teams that will be a lot more punished than Chelsea were on Sunday. I wouldn't read too much into it. I don't know how nailed he is over the course of the season but he must be initially.

Not keen on double Everton. The rest looks pretty good.

Why not? I think Richarlison is going to have a great season and I think Tosun will flourish under Silva. Definitely a good pick.

My thinking as well on the Everton front, even if they leak goals I think they be more attacking this year + good fixtures to start. I think Tosun is gonna have a good year under new management and no doubt Richarlison will be involved. Here’s hoping anyway

It’s good but no Salah could hurt but at the same time it could pay off if he blanks

Of course I’m wary of the no Salah but I’ve got Mané and Robbo to provide pool points and it allows me a better balance from front to back. Could backfire but the risk is limited and I quite fancy Sánchez capo for a couple of weeks

. Downgrade Fab to fodder I would suggest if going with Lloris

Yeah, I keep going backwards and forwards on this one. Had Hamer in previous drafts but also keep thinking for an extra 0.5mill I can basically have a decent keeper who I can rotate on the tough fixtures. I guess if I desperately need the extra 0.5mil before kick off on Friday then I know where to get it from

Any thoughts on the below gents? 🙂

    Foster (Fab)
Mendy Robertson David Luiz Tomkins (AWB)
Salah (c) Bilva Richarlison (Hudson-Odoi Stephens)
    Aguero Auba Arnie

GW3 moves: Luiz and Bilva > Monreal & Ramsay

    1. GianniBanani
      • 7 Years

I would downgrade Auba for better mid. Just wait and see, but i.e. Mane better odds scroing GW1 than Auba vs City

  20. GianniBanani

    7 years, 6 months ago

    A) 6,5 MID + 7.0 FWD + 0,5 ITB
    B) 9,5 MID + 4,5 FWD

    Im on

    Rich/Pedro/Lucas + Arnie/Zaha/Tosun
    or
    Mane/Eriksen + Kamara

Looking at these combinations in isolation, I would go Rich+any of Arnie/Zaha/Tosun/King

Thoughts? I have 1.5m in the bank.

    Foster
    Mendy, Robertson, Cedric
    Salah, Mane, Richarlison, Jota
    Kun, King, Arnie

    Patricio, Tomkins, Wan-B, D. Ward

Good team, I like the front line but I would consider upgrading Jota if you have 1.5m in the bank. For and extra 0.5 you could have Gross (or Jahanbankhsh) for another 0.5m Willian.

    A) Luiz & Stephens (Benched permanently)
    B) Bertrand & Cairney (Played occasionally)

Is it worth it? Really talking about small detailed changes now.

A for me, Luiz should start the season and has good alternatives at that price point

Like B as think Bertrand will be out to prove a point after missing out on England squad and Cairney better than Stephens and will start regularly

Thoughts on this please? Salah is perma-captain so I don’t have anyone over 9.5m. Is this a mistake?
Also I’m going heavy on city and pool until the other big 6 show form and settled teams

    Fab
    Robbo, Mendy, Davies
    Salah, Mane, Mahrez, Bilva, Richarlison
    Zaha, Arnie

    Patricio, Cedric, Tomkins, Kamara

    Team A
    Patricio / Hamer
    Robertson / Mendy / Luiz / AWB / Peltier
    Salah / Mane / Mahrez / Cairney / Costa
    Aguero / Zaha / King

    Team B
    Ederson / Hamer

    Aguero / Morata / King

A, easily. But get rid of Costa, not 100% nailed - even more so now they have signed Traore. I'd go for Ralls instead.

Current squad, but thinking of a couple updates...

    Foster, Fabs
    Mendy, Robbo, W-B, Tomkins, Bednarek
    Salah, Gud, Alexis, Richarlison, [5.5]
    Kun, Zaha, Arnie

    Cairney, Moutinho, Neves, Kenedy, other???

      downgrade Alexis and upgrade Gud

      -> B.Silva + x 😉

5.5 to insert -> Fraser as my personal punt

    Go on then...

    Foster/Fab
    Robertson/Mendy/Luis (Doherty/AWB)
    Salah/Sanchez/Moura/Cairney (Hughes)
    Aguero/Tosun/King

    Rip it to bits...

I think it's a really solid team, however....
Personal preference would see me with VVD instead of Robertson. I have no faith in Chelsea just now, poor last season and also complete change of mindset in the new manager so would avoid their defence.
Moo hasn't impressed and Man U so not sure how Sanchez will be.

In saying that. I've really no idea what I'm talking about most of the time, as you'll see from my RMT request!

Hope it give food for thought

    Hi Guys.
Long time lurker, but never posted.
RMT please, and also advice on quandary below.

Fabianski / Begovic (GW 1-9 good for Begovic / GW 10-21 good for Fab)
    Danials / Mendy / Peltier / VVD / Wan-Bissaka
    Salah / KDB / Richarlson / McDonald / 5.5
    Aguero / King / Firmino

Not sure whether to change Firmino for either Tosun or Arrnie and then upgrade McDonald and 5.5 MID
Also, is Salah a must or swap out for Hazard AND Mane leaving enough for 2 x 5.0 MIDS?

    Any help much appreciated.

    Cheers

Daniels will be dropped as Soon as Rico serves his suspension , its probably not a good idea doubling up on Bour with Begovic anyway i'd suggest maybe getting a Watford defender instead , and yeah downgrading Firmino to upgrade one of your mids is probably a good idea as it looks a bit weak atm

Bmouth are a clean sheet free zone.

Use a stop gap for KDB as he'll probably miss a week.

I have literally no idea who McDonald is...

Cheers, I went Bournemouth as they have decent run of fixtures, but you're right in that I'll probably get no more than appearance points.
I have no idea who McDonald is either! Simply looked for a 4.5 MID.
I'll stick Mane in for KDB first week.
All comments and advice is very much appreciated
