Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

In our fourth article of the series, Niemi has given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team; please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted and will spend some time on these pages responding.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Niemi’s RMT

Patricio – Hamer
Mendy – Robertson – Shaw – Wan-Bissaka – Bednarek
Salah – Mane – Mahrez – Richarlison – Jota
Aguero – Mitrovic – Kamara

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5 – I really like Patricio as a GK, I think he’s genuine quality. At 4.5 in a team that have strengthened a lot during the summer I think he could be one of the great bargains this season. It’s a slight risk going with a GK who’s new to the league in a promoted team, but it’s a risk that could easily pay off. I’m going to play him every week.

Hamer – 4.0 – It seems like Hamer have a shot of starting some games for Huddersfield, so he’s my pick of the 4.0s

Defenders

Robertson – 6.0 – Impressive end to last season, very attacking, decent opening fixtures and no World Cup. An easy and sensible pick in my eyes.

Mendy – 6.0 – I was initially lukewarm to Mendy as a pick, but he looks likely to start the first few games and Pep seems confident he’ll become a key player in the Manchester City side this season. With the amazing run of fixtures between gameweek 2 and 7 I’m taking the risk.

Shaw – 5.0 – Another defender I wasn’t convinced about earlier in the preseason. Although he’s now found his way into my team, I’m not totally convinced on how long he’ll remind a starter. Probably the player in my team I’m least convinced about.

Wan-Bissaka – 4.0 – Has made the right back spot his own during preseason, and is an obvious pick with Palace’s nice opening fixtures. I’ve seen Crystal Palace linked to a few right backs though, so I’m monitoring their movements on the transfer market the final days.

Bednarek – 4.0 – Emerged late last season as a budget defender and kept his price for this season. Seems to be prefered alongside Vestergaard and de Hoedt in the back three, but is facing competition from Stephens. A more nailed option is Peltier from Cardiff, but I feel Bednarek has a higher ceiling hence why I’m going with him currently. Swapping Shaw and Bednarek with 2×4.5 is something I’m weighting up.

Midfielders

Salah – 13.0 – Doesn’t really need an explanation. Been in my team since the game opened, and not going anywhere. Captaincy option every week.

Mane – 9.5 – I’ve had Eriksen in this spot for most parts of the pre-season, but Tottenham is a big worry at the moment with many players yet to return from the WC break, squad players injured, and transfer business yet to happen. Mane is for me the obvious replacement showing decent form in pre-season, as well as kind fixtures at the start and potentially penalties.

Mahrez – 9.0 – Been in and out of my team, but after the game against Chelsea I feel fairly settled with him. Looked dangerous and could easily had returns on another day. Bernardo Silva has crossed my mind, but despite Pep’s quotes I’m not convinced he’s a better pick for the start of the season.

Richarlison – 6.5 – An amazing pick at the start of last season, before totally disappearing. Had great underlying stats, and he’s a player I personally like. Everton’s pre-season form is a worry, but the potential is definitely there at 6.5.

Jota – 6.5 – Been in my team for most of the season. A key attacking player in an interesting Wolves side, and could even be used up front in some games. I’m well aware there’s a good bunch of players that do well in Championship but can’t reproduce those performances in the Premier League, but I have a feeling Jota won’t be one of them. Maddison at Leicester is also a player I’m closely monitoring and I can’t rule out him finding his way into my team at the expense of Jota or Richarlison.

Forwards

Aguero – 11.0 – A player that always finds his way into my team, who I love captaining. This season is no different; he’s been in my team the whole time and the game against Chelsea just made me more confident.

Mitrovic – 6.5 – A player that I like a lot personally. I hoped he would come in at 6.0, but I still think he could be decent value at 6.5. I fully expect him to be Fulham’s penalty taker this season, which is a big advantage.

Kamara – 4.5 – Decided early I wanted to go with a third forward at 4.5, and Kamara seems to be the pick of the bunch. I don’t expect him to be a regular starter, but he’ll probably get some minutes here and there.

Conclusion

I feel fairly confident in my team right now, but a few minor changes are possible. The defence is slightly risky but otherwise I feel my team is pretty safe with decent alternatives to my midfielders and forwards available at the same price point.

What are your thoughts on my team? Have I missed out on any obvious picks, or gone with players that I shouldn’t?

Remember, post your RMTs below in this article. There will be another new RMT Community Article tomorrow.

    Tinkered a bit. Any good?

Don't trust Jones atm and not sure Lingard is a good pick after the World Cup.

Emery loves to rotate fullbacks. There's a thread which shows just how much he's done it over the last 4 years.

    Ryan
    Robertson Mendy D.Luiz
    Salah Mane B.Silva Richarlison
    Aguero Arnie King

    Button; Tomkins, Wan-Bissaka, Hudson-Odoi

    Remaining questions:
    A) Richarlison or Jota
    B) Arnie or Zaha
    C) Downgrade Arnie upgrade Hudson-Odoi (Mhiki, Jota or Moura)
    D) Downgrade Arnie and upgrade Tomkins (B.Davies)

      A Jota
B Zaha just because fixtures but there's others I like similar price
      C Hudson screams trap

Must be good cause I questioned if it was only 100 mil.
      Good effort.

Maybe Zaha over Arnie for now for fixtures.
Hudson-Odoi probably a transfer waiting to happen.
      Boring and safe Stephens option?

Yes, I'd have enough cash to do W-Biss to B.Davies and also upgrade the 4.5 mid to a playing 5.0 like Cairney.

Final RMT! bold with 3 x 4.0def but i honestly think 2 out of the 3 are nailed on.

    Foster / Fab
    Mendy / TAA / WB / Bednarek / peltier

    Arnire / Aguero / Wilson

D Silva is unlikely to start the season and beware of Pedro rotation now that Willian is back. Although it seems as though Pedro starts the season at least.

Ok I've bought into the B Silva hype and tinkered yet again, replaced Mahrez for Silva and upgraded Iheanacho to Tosun

    Patricio (Hamer)
    Robbo - Mendy - Bavies ( Schlupp - AWB)
    Salah - Mane - B Silva - Mkhi - Cairney
    Aguero - Tosun ( Kamara)

    0.5m itb

Morning dzzz, deciding on the right formation is so tricky..

basically who will offer the most value between someone like Mendy, Jota, King? Currently on a 4-4-2

    Patricio -- Foster
Luiz Mendy PVA Shaw -- AWB
Salah Sanchez Bilva Rich -- Stephens
    Kun Arnie -- kamara

    Other options include:
    A: PVA > 4m def and upgrade stephens > Jota/Pedro to play 3-5-2

B: PVA > 4m def and upgrade Kamara > King to play 3-4-3

Another issue I have with Richarlison is the 5 goals and 4 assists he scored between gw 2-13 only yielded 4 bonus points. I owned him after gw3 I think and he got goal and assist 1 game and I think no bonus?

    Foster
    Mendy-Pereira-Tomkins
    Salah-Mane-Bernardo Silva-Richarlison-Jota
    Aubameyang-King

Really tricky between Aguero and Auba still haha. Have 0.5 ITB, perhaps thinking ideally of Mane->KdB if it comes up. Bilva placeholder for Arsenal mid later on.

    A - Lacazette
    B - Joshua King
C - Pascal Gross (marked as a forward in this game)

    E - Chris Wood

No Salah. Not criticizing, just pointing it out.

Thanks! Yes, decided pretty early on that I liked the balance offered by my non-Salah options.

Keita is a bit of a punt - I think he has great upside potential for 7.5m. I feel like Klopp will play him a lot and if he might be a differential.

Thanks. I agree that both Rich and Keita are punts, but I'm willing to give them a couple of weeks. Keita's ownership is low enough that I wouldn't expect to lose a ton of value on him quickly if it doesn't go well. Richarlison, well that's a totally different story.

Maybe you could consider Zaha to king and a non playing 4 mn keeper. That would allow you 1 mn to upgrade Richarlison after 1-2 weeks.

Also your back up plan to get Salah is in place?

  13. athreya

    Patricio
    Mendy/Robbo/Shaw/Tomkins
    Bilva/Salah/Mane/Jota
    Kun/King

    Subs: Hamer/Cairney/Hemed/Peltier

2 itb. To facilitate a switch to Kdb and Auba from GW3. I can also get in Eriksen with just one more transfer.

Plan to play 442 with flexibility for a 352.

My doubts are about shaw, king and Hemed. Shaw will definitely go for Bailly or Luiz. King could change to Arnie or Zaha after 4/5 weeks. Not sure how much money or time to spend on picking 3rd striker!

Please rate it and thanks for suggestions.

Good team. I'm impressed with how many big hitters you fit in with Salah taking up 13m.

Thanks. The weak spot of the team is the forwards. If after 3 weeks both Kun and Auba are sitting on 4 goals each I will be screwed. To put it mildly.

Really hope King does well. Shaw I feel Jose is just itching to drop him. Let’s see.

I wonder if Sorloth might be a better pick than Hemed?

Main objection anyway is that whilst you are flexible to switch between 4-4-2, 3-5-2 and 3-4-3; you also have 18M quid on the bench.

Schneiderlin is just a 4.5 bench warmer. Shaw should play first few weeks but could swap to Darmian or Lindelof or even try and squeeze in Bailly. Who would you get over Cook?
I'm more worried about Ederson starting tbh he hasn't played one game since end of last season

Darmian will be at united after August? Isn’t he being lined up for a move back to Italy?

The 4.5 price point is a bit tricky I agree as we don’t seem to have good idea before season starts. Tomkins is the best bet and then it’s a toss up between Cedric and Cook.

Re 4.5 benchwarmer I would have someone who starts. And can get 2 pts with potential for odd upside.

    Pickford-Patricio

Cedric, I have been reading is not sure of a starting place, may have to monitor that.
Dilva is an obvious rotation threat, but your bench looks adequate to cover that.
I am not a fan of Zaha & Arnie as strikers personally, FPLwise. Both may not play as out and out striker, but they are solid picks based on form.
      King is an option IMO.
      Best luck!
Cairney I hear is not on penos BTW.

I like the Ozil & Suggy picks. I am also currently on two 4 mil defenders, hoping they wont lose their starting spot.
Only risk being Patricio leaking a lot of goals then you may have to wste a transfer on GK. But that is likely with any other keeper I guess.

I think Watford want him to play and his underlying stats were good until his injury. I believe he’d been deployed out right rather than through the middle to ensure game time due to competition from doucoure and sema. Not his most effective position but he’s got an eye for goal. If he’s in and out I think McArthur is fairly nailed despite kouyate coming in so happy to sub him for now until another midfield alternative comes in. Ta

    Hey all,

    Any thoughts appreciated.

My main concerns are: whether De Gea is worth the price, whether Mee is worth picking despite potential Europa League impact and whether Zaha or BSilva are better options than Arnie. What do you think?

    DDG, Hamer
    Robo, Coleman, PVA, Mee, AWB
    Salah, Mane, BSilva, Richarlison, Neves
    Kun, Zaha, Kamara.

Don't expect Kamara to play much, but both Neves and AWB seem like decent cheap bench options.

    Thanks!

my reasoning for the Mitrovic pick is that he will most likely start every game and possibly on pens as well.
Not into the zaha/arnie hype train atm. One looks likely to leave while the other looks likely to be played out of position.

Masuaku - possible start at LB or LW. eitherway hoping not to use bench strength for the first 4 GW

Bednarek - same as above. AWB could always be subbed in for him.

        Peltier?? Nailed on 4.0 benchwarmer

        Your reasons?
