Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Niemi’s RMT

Patricio – Hamer
Mendy – Robertson – Shaw – Wan-Bissaka – Bednarek
Salah – Mane – Mahrez – Richarlison – Jota
Aguero – Mitrovic – Kamara

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5 – I really like Patricio as a GK, I think he’s genuine quality. At 4.5 in a team that have strengthened a lot during the summer I think he could be one of the great bargains this season. It’s a slight risk going with a GK who’s new to the league in a promoted team, but it’s a risk that could easily pay off. I’m going to play him every week.

Hamer – 4.0 – It seems like Hamer have a shot of starting some games for Huddersfield, so he’s my pick of the 4.0s

Defenders

Robertson – 6.0 – Impressive end to last season, very attacking, decent opening fixtures and no World Cup. An easy and sensible pick in my eyes.

Mendy – 6.0 – I was initially lukewarm to Mendy as a pick, but he looks likely to start the first few games and Pep seems confident he’ll become a key player in the Manchester City side this season. With the amazing run of fixtures between gameweek 2 and 7 I’m taking the risk.

Shaw – 5.0 – Another defender I wasn’t convinced about earlier in the preseason. Although he’s now found his way into my team, I’m not totally convinced on how long he’ll remind a starter. Probably the player in my team I’m least convinced about.

Wan-Bissaka – 4.0 – Has made the right back spot his own during preseason, and is an obvious pick with Palace’s nice opening fixtures. I’ve seen Crystal Palace linked to a few right backs though, so I’m monitoring their movements on the transfer market the final days.

Bednarek – 4.0 – Emerged late last season as a budget defender and kept his price for this season. Seems to be prefered alongside Vestergaard and de Hoedt in the back three, but is facing competition from Stephens. A more nailed option is Peltier from Cardiff, but I feel Bednarek has a higher ceiling hence why I’m going with him currently. Swapping Shaw and Bednarek with 2×4.5 is something I’m weighting up.

Midfielders

Salah – 13.0 – Doesn’t really need an explanation. Been in my team since the game opened, and not going anywhere. Captaincy option every week.

Mane – 9.5 – I’ve had Eriksen in this spot for most parts of the pre-season, but Tottenham is a big worry at the moment with many players yet to return from the WC break, squad players injured, and transfer business yet to happen. Mane is for me the obvious replacement showing decent form in pre-season, as well as kind fixtures at the start and potentially penalties.

Mahrez – 9.0 – Been in and out of my team, but after the game against Chelsea I feel fairly settled with him. Looked dangerous and could easily had returns on another day. Bernardo Silva has crossed my mind, but despite Pep’s quotes I’m not convinced he’s a better pick for the start of the season.

Richarlison – 6.5 – An amazing pick at the start of last season, before totally disappearing. Had great underlying stats, and he’s a player I personally like. Everton’s pre-season form is a worry, but the potential is definitely there at 6.5.

Jota – 6.5 – Been in my team for most of the season. A key attacking player in an interesting Wolves side, and could even be used up front in some games. I’m well aware there’s a good bunch of players that do well in Championship but can’t reproduce those performances in the Premier League, but I have a feeling Jota won’t be one of them. Maddison at Leicester is also a player I’m closely monitoring and I can’t rule out him finding his way into my team at the expense of Jota or Richarlison.

Forwards

Aguero – 11.0 – A player that always finds his way into my team, who I love captaining. This season is no different; he’s been in my team the whole time and the game against Chelsea just made me more confident.

Mitrovic – 6.5 – A player that I like a lot personally. I hoped he would come in at 6.0, but I still think he could be decent value at 6.5. I fully expect him to be Fulham’s penalty taker this season, which is a big advantage.

Kamara – 4.5 – Decided early I wanted to go with a third forward at 4.5, and Kamara seems to be the pick of the bunch. I don’t expect him to be a regular starter, but he’ll probably get some minutes here and there.

Conclusion

I feel fairly confident in my team right now, but a few minor changes are possible. The defence is slightly risky but otherwise I feel my team is pretty safe with decent alternatives to my midfielders and forwards available at the same price point.

What are your thoughts on my team? Have I missed out on any obvious picks, or gone with players that I shouldn’t?

Remember, post your RMTs below in this article. There will be another new RMT Community Article tomorrow.

How about this? Defense heavy admittedly but Shaw is only a short term pick and Bavies should be nailed (nil itb)

    Patricio (Hamer)
    Shaw, Mendy, Robbo, Bavies (AWB)
    Salah, Mane, Bilva (Cairney, Hughes)
    Kun, King, Arnie

    Cheers

Assuming Bilva will become an arsenal player down the line? Slightly inflexible if some heavy hittters in MF start producing.

Both Cairney and hughes are 5 mn right? Downgrade one of them to 4.5. The one you don’t envisage playing.

Yes that's the Bilva plan assuming he stops being peps golden child. You're right about Cairney and Hughes, presume you'd spend the extra 0.5 on fab?

I thought Shaw is nailed on for the first couple of fixtures.
Watched Valencia v Everton. Siggy (With his set-pieces) could be a nice differential as everyone is on board the Richarlison train which I am unsure about. Already have Jota.

Some interesting picks in defence, but all have nice fixtures so could work out. Is Schlupp not a rotation risk though?

Also don't see Ryan as covering Patricio at all - maybe try to find a better rotation option there.

Otherwise its a strong team, midfield looks great.

Meyer is a CAM/CM, don't think he has ever played up front. Suprised by his price, if he fulfils even half of his previous hype he could be decent value.

Right, I think I'm very close now. Criticisms?

    Foster/Fabianski
    Mendy, Robertson, Schlupp, Doherty, WBissaka
    Salah, Mane, Bilva, Richarlison, Cairney
    Aguero, Arnie, King

I know Bilva won't last long, and Schlupp and Doherty are minor risks but both are OOP. Mane/Shaqiri potential rotation is a slight worry also. Went for Cairney as don't like any 4.5 mids.

Yeah I'm very pleased with this one, risks are minor enough I think. Ditching premium keeper and 9.5 striker made the difference. The only flexibility I feel I lack is in that 9.5 ish striker spot. I could easily want Firmino or Lacazette fairly early on, but can't cover it all.

    2. MikeRyko

      Looks great.

I don't get the Arnie pick myself given his fixtures but plenty of options in the same bracket to move to if he doesn't get firing.

Arsenal and Liverpool away aren't the best, although I don't think many would be surprised if he bagged in either. But his other 2 early games are home to BOU and WOL, I don't think it's too bad.

I'm not convinced they are that tough, Tosun is an option but given how poor Everton looked I don't want to double down with him and Richarlison. Zaha also, if I were more convinced he would be a striker than out wide then I'd go for him maybe.

Looks decent not sure on that possible change it's a hard call but I am having Erik for the first two weeks at least.
      Maybe Tosun to Zaha?
But then you got 3 CP and that won't be great come GW 2

      Thx guys.
I think there is still an easy way to switch to 343, if there are outstanding options under 6m.
Eriksen might be a season keeper, Mahrez more in danger regarding rotation, so Erik the safer option imo.
Think nothing wrong to start with Tosun and switching to Zaha if he doesn't deliver in GWs 1 - 3.

Virtually same as my team right now. I've Gone Schlupp over Tomkins and Zaha over King. I've used the 1m for Peltier > Shaw but not convinced as I would like to start Schlupp. My other thought was to upgrade keeper to maybe Lloris as I have 3 city and 3 Liverpool.

And now for something completely different.
2* 4.5 forwards too risky or worth it for this team. For GW3 plan something like Erik and Bilva to KDB and 7.0

    Foster

    Robertson Mendy Coleman Shaw

    Salah Mane Eriksen Bilva Frazer

    Aubameyang

    Button Wan-B Kamara Quaner

Well it leaves you so constricted that as soon as you want to change your structure a bit you'll need to wildcard.

        Thanks I got that.
But let's say I really believe cash spend on the front 3 is not good value and prefer to invest in premium mids and mid to premium defenders and stick to this is it worth the risks?
I want to try this structure and not give up on it and WC at he first sign of trouble.

Oh I'm a big asserter of value in defence and midfield, but I want 2 playing strikers, so I look around the 6.5-7m field.

Ok let's say it all goes pear shaped
A hit for BSilva to a 4.5 mid and Zaha king Arnie are all options
It just 2 weak strikers over 2 mids
Or a mid and a defender
Ok you leave an extra .5 on the bench maybe and if Auba does not play I am in a horrible creek without a paddle.

    VVD, Luiz, Sclupp

    Arnie, Kun, Zaha

    Hamer, Wan-Biss, Peltier, Stephens

Very similar to my team, I think most are going with weak benches with an eye on Wildcarding early when the WC lot get back into teams. I don't like the amount of competition Luiz has but other than that Solid. I went with weaker keeper and Mendy > Luiz. Also when Robbo over VVD but I think VVD will have a great season, just can't fit them all in!

Quite like it ... Townsend a bit of a punt but why not.

I'd be happier if he'd come in at 5.5 though.

      Going for a 3-4-3 or a 4-3-3?
      If the former, then yes.
If the latter, then downgrade jota/rich to upgrade cedric

I like it. Wouldn't say midfield is particularly weak, bit risky but could pay off!

    Going for a 5-3-2

    Ddg (stek)
    Robbo Mendy Coleman Tomkins Luiz
    Salah Moura Jota Brooks Stephens
    Auba Kun Quaner

Whom to bench? Jota or Brooks?

I you downgrade DeGea to a 4.5 or even 2 rotation 4.5 and upgrade at least your second mid it could work.
Honestly that midfield is a WC waiting to happen.

I like the idea of a back 5 and you have some very good selection. Luiz could be someone like Bellerin in a few weks

Well, the problem being I can't find any stable mids below Mahrez. Even Bilva is a transfer waiting to happen.

Would be great to hear some feedback

    Patricio - Hamer
    Mendy - VVD - Cook - WB - Malone
    Salah - Bilva - Mane - Townsend - Odoi
    Auba - Mitro - Arnie

2 mil ITB to help change things up in week 3/4 after some big hitters return without using my WC

Well, I believe anything more than 0.5 (even that's a lot) rotting itb does no good at the end of the day.

Moreover if you wanna plan transfers behorehand, you're in the wrong game mate! The best way to tackle WC absentees is to be ready to use your wildcard after gw4. If your team clicks without them, and you don't need to use your wildcard, consider yourself lucky.

Front 8 is more or less settled now (he says...) but still unsure about the structure of my back 7.

    (A) Fabianski, Foster / Shaw + Mendy + Hoedt + Jonny + Tomkins (with 0.5 to spend somewhere)

    (B) DDG + 4.0 / [SOMEONE @ 4.5] + Mendy + Hoedt + Jonny + Tomkins

    (C) Fabianski, Foster / Robertson + Mendy + Hoedt + Jonny + AWB

    (D) Fabianski, Foster / Robertson + Mendy + Shaw + Peltier + AWB

    I could go on...
