Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

In our fourth article of the series, Niemi has given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team; please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted and will spend some time on these pages responding.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Niemi’s RMT

Patricio – Hamer
Mendy – Robertson – Shaw – Wan-Bissaka – Bednarek
Salah – Mane – Mahrez – Richarlison – Jota
Aguero – Mitrovic – Kamara

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5 – I really like Patricio as a GK, I think he’s genuine quality. At 4.5 in a team that have strengthened a lot during the summer I think he could be one of the great bargains this season. It’s a slight risk going with a GK who’s new to the league in a promoted team, but it’s a risk that could easily pay off. I’m going to play him every week.

Hamer – 4.0 – It seems like Hamer have a shot of starting some games for Huddersfield, so he’s my pick of the 4.0s

Defenders

Robertson – 6.0 – Impressive end to last season, very attacking, decent opening fixtures and no World Cup. An easy and sensible pick in my eyes.

Mendy – 6.0 – I was initially lukewarm to Mendy as a pick, but he looks likely to start the first few games and Pep seems confident he’ll become a key player in the Manchester City side this season. With the amazing run of fixtures between gameweek 2 and 7 I’m taking the risk.

Shaw – 5.0 – Another defender I wasn’t convinced about earlier in the preseason. Although he’s now found his way into my team, I’m not totally convinced on how long he’ll remind a starter. Probably the player in my team I’m least convinced about.

Wan-Bissaka – 4.0 – Has made the right back spot his own during preseason, and is an obvious pick with Palace’s nice opening fixtures. I’ve seen Crystal Palace linked to a few right backs though, so I’m monitoring their movements on the transfer market the final days.

Bednarek – 4.0 – Emerged late last season as a budget defender and kept his price for this season. Seems to be prefered alongside Vestergaard and de Hoedt in the back three, but is facing competition from Stephens. A more nailed option is Peltier from Cardiff, but I feel Bednarek has a higher ceiling hence why I’m going with him currently. Swapping Shaw and Bednarek with 2×4.5 is something I’m weighting up.

Midfielders

Salah – 13.0 – Doesn’t really need an explanation. Been in my team since the game opened, and not going anywhere. Captaincy option every week.

Mane – 9.5 – I’ve had Eriksen in this spot for most parts of the pre-season, but Tottenham is a big worry at the moment with many players yet to return from the WC break, squad players injured, and transfer business yet to happen. Mane is for me the obvious replacement showing decent form in pre-season, as well as kind fixtures at the start and potentially penalties.

Mahrez – 9.0 – Been in and out of my team, but after the game against Chelsea I feel fairly settled with him. Looked dangerous and could easily had returns on another day. Bernardo Silva has crossed my mind, but despite Pep’s quotes I’m not convinced he’s a better pick for the start of the season.

Richarlison – 6.5 – An amazing pick at the start of last season, before totally disappearing. Had great underlying stats, and he’s a player I personally like. Everton’s pre-season form is a worry, but the potential is definitely there at 6.5.

Jota – 6.5 – Been in my team for most of the season. A key attacking player in an interesting Wolves side, and could even be used up front in some games. I’m well aware there’s a good bunch of players that do well in Championship but can’t reproduce those performances in the Premier League, but I have a feeling Jota won’t be one of them. Maddison at Leicester is also a player I’m closely monitoring and I can’t rule out him finding his way into my team at the expense of Jota or Richarlison.

Forwards

Aguero – 11.0 – A player that always finds his way into my team, who I love captaining. This season is no different; he’s been in my team the whole time and the game against Chelsea just made me more confident.

Mitrovic – 6.5 – A player that I like a lot personally. I hoped he would come in at 6.0, but I still think he could be decent value at 6.5. I fully expect him to be Fulham’s penalty taker this season, which is a big advantage.

Kamara – 4.5 – Decided early I wanted to go with a third forward at 4.5, and Kamara seems to be the pick of the bunch. I don’t expect him to be a regular starter, but he’ll probably get some minutes here and there.

Conclusion

I feel fairly confident in my team right now, but a few minor changes are possible. The defence is slightly risky but otherwise I feel my team is pretty safe with decent alternatives to my midfielders and forwards available at the same price point.

What are your thoughts on my team? Have I missed out on any obvious picks, or gone with players that I shouldn’t?

Remember, post your RMTs below in this article. There will be another new RMT Community Article tomorrow.

    Fabianski, Steklenberg
    TAA, Mendy, Luiz, Bissaka, Bennett

GKs are risky - Steklenberg unlikely to play so you're counting on playing Fabs every week.

Lacazette also a risk in terms of whether he's nailed on to start, especially in GW1 when Emery may choose one from Auba and Lacazette given he's facing City!

Too much on defence. Given what's been said about Courtois this week I wouldn't be chancing 6.5 on Azpilicueta - you could downgrade and upgrade one of your mids

      1. Athletic Nasherbo
        • 8 Years
        7 years, 4 months ago

This requires Azpi > 4.5m (no decent options)
to then get a 6.5m mid. Not ideal.

No, his output was clearly unsustainable last season and he's very expensive. He will score a hell of a lot of points and is by no means a bad choice but some people prefer the balance without him

I've gone for Fraser: good pre-season form, strong fixtures, Stanislas coming back from injury so he should get a decent run in the team.

    Courtois - Button
    Mendy - Robertson - Bailly - Boly - Tomkins
    Mane - B.Silva - Mkhi - Richarlison- Stephens
    Aguero - Firmino - Tosun

N.B Please no replies about Salah as I don't want him or Courtois either as he's a placeholder for Chelsea's starting keeper once Courtois is sold, if he's not sold then i'll move him out. Anything else really appreciated 🙂

Cheers, Firmino to Auba is an interesting one, hadn't really thought of that one
        .
For your team I would downgrade Cairney because how often are you actually gonna play him? You're never gonna drop any of your forwards so realistically can't play your 5th mid so it's a wasted 0.5m. Apart from that looks strong

Cheers man, saw the rest of your reply on the response notification so got it all
Currently leaning towards upgrading Mkhi but none of the mids around 8.5m are tempting me from the start. By GW3 i'll be choosing between Mkhi, Pogba, Ramsey and maybe even Willian but none of them are great options right now. Might end up going with Ozil just because he's a nailed version of Mkhi or even keeping the cash cos sure will need it soon enough

What is the reason that people here prefer Richarlison to Walcott?

    1. jameslamerton
      • 7 Years
      7 years, 4 months ago

Not sure, I'm betting on Walcott to kickstart his career again this season, Everton have a good run of fixtures to start with. Wolves seem to play a high defensive line so I elected for him over Diogo Jota, hope it pays off.

Yep, I watched the extended highlights vs Celta Vigo (or was it Villarreal, regardless) and it was noticeable how vulnerable they were to through balls. Reckon with his pace and finishing ability Walcott could score.

Have Richarlison currently, but only because everyone else seems to have him.

    Thoughts?

    Lindegaard
    Bailly Walker-Peters Liv 5.0
    Salah Sanchez siggy Cairney
    Kun Firmino King

    Fab Masuaku Bamba Wan-Bissaka

Any Liverpool 5.0 nailed for the first gw or two?

Guys, can you help me with this please?

    De Gea
    Tomkins; Robertson; Mendy
    Salah; Mane; Eriksen; Richarlison; Costa
    Kun; King

    Seem strong to start?

--> De Gea and Tomkins out / rotating 4.5m GKs and Luiz in seems better?
    --> Best replacement for Costa?
    --> Other suggestions?

    Thanks a lot mates.

    Cheers

    I could use some feedback.
A couple of changes made since yesterdays community shield

    DDG (Hamer)
    Rob, Mendy, Tomkins (Duffy, peltier)
    Salah, mane, mhiki, Richarlison (masuaku)
    Kun, Zaha, King

That questions article convinced me to splash on DDG in case united start well, but that meant losing PvA as my third defender.
I'm a bit worried about mhiki, and I had lacazette in place of kun earlier.
There seems a lot of value in mid price strikers. I like mitrovic a lot, but went with King as he seems in good form and has the fixtures that Arnie wishes he had.

    Zaha/mhiki -> mitrovic/bsilva... Makes sense?

    Be gentle first RMT

    DeGea (Boruc)
    Robbo Luiz Bednarek (WB Fredricks)
    Rich Bilva Erickson Jota Salah
    Aga King (Long)

    Up to GW 3/4

I think you are a bit light in defense. If those 4.0 are really nailed it will be great, but they rarely are.
