Niemi’s RMT

Patricio – Hamer
Mendy – Robertson – Shaw – Wan-Bissaka – Bednarek
Salah – Mane – Mahrez – Richarlison – Jota
Aguero – Mitrovic – Kamara

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5 – I really like Patricio as a GK, I think he’s genuine quality. At 4.5 in a team that have strengthened a lot during the summer I think he could be one of the great bargains this season. It’s a slight risk going with a GK who’s new to the league in a promoted team, but it’s a risk that could easily pay off. I’m going to play him every week.

Hamer – 4.0 – It seems like Hamer have a shot of starting some games for Huddersfield, so he’s my pick of the 4.0s

Defenders

Robertson – 6.0 – Impressive end to last season, very attacking, decent opening fixtures and no World Cup. An easy and sensible pick in my eyes.

Mendy – 6.0 – I was initially lukewarm to Mendy as a pick, but he looks likely to start the first few games and Pep seems confident he’ll become a key player in the Manchester City side this season. With the amazing run of fixtures between gameweek 2 and 7 I’m taking the risk.

Shaw – 5.0 – Another defender I wasn’t convinced about earlier in the preseason. Although he’s now found his way into my team, I’m not totally convinced on how long he’ll remind a starter. Probably the player in my team I’m least convinced about.

Wan-Bissaka – 4.0 – Has made the right back spot his own during preseason, and is an obvious pick with Palace’s nice opening fixtures. I’ve seen Crystal Palace linked to a few right backs though, so I’m monitoring their movements on the transfer market the final days.

Bednarek – 4.0 – Emerged late last season as a budget defender and kept his price for this season. Seems to be prefered alongside Vestergaard and de Hoedt in the back three, but is facing competition from Stephens. A more nailed option is Peltier from Cardiff, but I feel Bednarek has a higher ceiling hence why I’m going with him currently. Swapping Shaw and Bednarek with 2×4.5 is something I’m weighting up.

Midfielders

Salah – 13.0 – Doesn’t really need an explanation. Been in my team since the game opened, and not going anywhere. Captaincy option every week.

Mane – 9.5 – I’ve had Eriksen in this spot for most parts of the pre-season, but Tottenham is a big worry at the moment with many players yet to return from the WC break, squad players injured, and transfer business yet to happen. Mane is for me the obvious replacement showing decent form in pre-season, as well as kind fixtures at the start and potentially penalties.

Mahrez – 9.0 – Been in and out of my team, but after the game against Chelsea I feel fairly settled with him. Looked dangerous and could easily had returns on another day. Bernardo Silva has crossed my mind, but despite Pep’s quotes I’m not convinced he’s a better pick for the start of the season.

Richarlison – 6.5 – An amazing pick at the start of last season, before totally disappearing. Had great underlying stats, and he’s a player I personally like. Everton’s pre-season form is a worry, but the potential is definitely there at 6.5.

Jota – 6.5 – Been in my team for most of the season. A key attacking player in an interesting Wolves side, and could even be used up front in some games. I’m well aware there’s a good bunch of players that do well in Championship but can’t reproduce those performances in the Premier League, but I have a feeling Jota won’t be one of them. Maddison at Leicester is also a player I’m closely monitoring and I can’t rule out him finding his way into my team at the expense of Jota or Richarlison.

Forwards

Aguero – 11.0 – A player that always finds his way into my team, who I love captaining. This season is no different; he’s been in my team the whole time and the game against Chelsea just made me more confident.

Mitrovic – 6.5 – A player that I like a lot personally. I hoped he would come in at 6.0, but I still think he could be decent value at 6.5. I fully expect him to be Fulham’s penalty taker this season, which is a big advantage.

Kamara – 4.5 – Decided early I wanted to go with a third forward at 4.5, and Kamara seems to be the pick of the bunch. I don’t expect him to be a regular starter, but he’ll probably get some minutes here and there.

Conclusion

I feel fairly confident in my team right now, but a few minor changes are possible. The defence is slightly risky but otherwise I feel my team is pretty safe with decent alternatives to my midfielders and forwards available at the same price point.

What are your thoughts on my team? Have I missed out on any obvious picks, or gone with players that I shouldn’t?

Remember, post your RMTs below in this article. There will be another new RMT Community Article tomorrow.

    Bottomed, Final draft(?):

    Patricio,
    AWB, Mendy, Robbo, Peltier
    Bilva,Salah,Richarlison,Mane
    Auba,Aguero

    Hamer, Kamara, Bednarek, Stephens.

I’m hoping if Peltier doesn’t start at least the bench might swing a few points, Kamara started and scored mid week.

    Any improvements or gtg?

Probably the defence (three 4.0 defenders are in your team) is too weak and the forwards are too strong. Perhaps Aubameyang to Firmino and then boost your defence.

I mentioned this earlier. Even if Peltier is a starter, he still plays for Cardiff...

No bad picks from what I can see but I don't think Ddg will be value this season. Even 2nd half of last season I think his points per game dropped significantly, was unsustainable.

Not sure I like the defence. Not keen on double up Palace, personally would only have one 4m defender. Everton have been useless in defence preseason, Daniels could well be dropped for new signing after 3 matches, and Cardiff are Cardiff. I'd get a couple of big boys in there and keep a couple of cheapies

Thanks. Double Palace will only be gw4 (SOU). Have only looked at first 5 gameweeks though (intentionally).

Will have Daniels for gw1 and 3 (CAR/EVE) then sell with Rico back from suspension. Bit yeah, it's a dodgy defence!

Double BOU defence is a bit risky - They have lovely fixtures but I'm not confident in their clean sheet ability! Also, regarding Bego, he has quite a low save rate per goal, and fairly low saves in general - not what I expected. I'd fancy Ryan, Fab and Rui to all get more saves, would one of these tempt you?

Coleman and Everton might struggle with clean sheets, possibly Bailly is better? Coleman is more nailed though.

Everything else is solid and safe, aka template πŸ˜‰ Not a bad thing, and should serve you well.

Normal arguments stand - Jota or Richarlison, Mitro or King etc. Personally I'd go the other 2 to the ones you selected, but that's just me πŸ™‚

I didn't really want Begovic/Daniels to be honest but felt like I had to replace Fabianksi/Cedric.

Might have to have another think about Begovic, it's true you'd expect him to be more of a save monster.. Cheers.

Nice team, not sure on the defense though !
I would downgrade Firmino and upgrade the defense. No real need for 3 Lpool attackers. If they have an off day you will have a bad GW.

You really need Jota and Mitrovic to perform to make up for the probable lack of points from defence. One option is to downgrade one of them to 4.5 and upgrade entire defence.

Thumbs up on the Liverpool triple. Tempted to do it myself. Haven't picked a Liverpool defender because of that.

I would swap Daniels for Tomkins.

Need some opinions on what to do here. Just cant decide.

    Patricio
    Robertson | Mendy | PVA
    Salah(C) | Manè | Jota | Richarlison
    King | Aguero | Zaha

    Stekelenburg | Bednarek | AWB | Stephens

    1.5m in the bank.

    A. Good to go + 1.5m itb
    B. Jota 》 Bilva + 0.5m itb
    C. Patricio 》 De Gea 0m itb

Currently on A to have 1.5m to upgrade any under performers. e.g Manè 》 KDB. Allows me to do it 1 transfer as opposed to a hit.

The guy did just finish the Season in Brazil and went straight into playing in the Prem without a break. Inevitabley he would fatigued towards the latter end of the season. A fresh summer break for him and full fitness.. there is every reason to be a Richarlison owner.

How do you like this 'anti wild card / money in the bank' team?:

    DDG - Hamer
    Mendy - van Dijk - Bednarek - Peltier - Wan-Bissaka
    Salah - Mané - B. Silva - Richarlison - Townsend
    Agüero - King - Kamara

    1,5 ITB

    Wan-Bissaka good fixtures: GW 4,6,8
    Wan-Bissaka decent fixtures: GW 1,3,5,7,9
    Peltier good fixtures: GW 2,7,9
    Peltier decent fixtures: GW 1,3
    Bednarek good fixtures: GW 1,3,5,10
    Bednarek decent fixtures: GW 2,4,7,9

*Good fixtures for such mid/low teams can only be on home turf

Having all 3 would result in having the opportunity to field the one with the good fixture every week (if they keep their starting spot ofc). Only GW 6 & 8 is represented by mere 1 of the 3 guys (Wan-Bissaka).
Another upside is the opportunity to get in a more expensive guy for free (without having to downgrade another). B.Silva could become Mahrez. Townsend could become Mkhi. Mané could become KDB/Hazard. Agüero could become Kane. Or 1 of the defenders could become a nailed on 5.5 defender from a top team in form. What is not to like? πŸ˜‰

    Hi!

    Second try.

I agree with the "Who's go the assist" research on Value and plan on 4 or 5 premium defenders all season. Please don't bother telling me I have spent too much in the back. I plan to spend more, upgrading Wan-Bissaka once I know who to upgrade him too. No rush with the CP opening fixtures. Not feeling good about the Chelsea defense right now. Everton fixures too good to pass up. Want whichever of their forwards is starting while their fixtures last. Expect Siggy to to worth it at least during their good run.

    Fabianski - (Norris)
    Mendy - Walker - Robertson - Van Aanholt (Wan-Bissaka)
    Salah - Mane - Sigurdsson - Richarlison - (Stephens)
    Aguero - Tosun - (Kamara)

    0.0 left over.

I have had other commitments steal my time this pre-season, so I'm far less aware of news and definately any template thinking this time. Like, say who is the most secure Everton forward. If any. Not sold on Mane but expect to make changes once the first few weeks are done and Arsenal has great fixtures.

    Thanks in advance!

Having 2 city refs is a waste Walker is overpriced. Downgrade to Bavies and upgrade Siggy to maybe Bilva

I am having huge troubles setting up a team.
But I am currently on this.
    Any ideas or GTG?

    Begovic, Boruc
Mendy, Van Dijk, Cedric, Mee, Wan-Bissaka
    Salah, Mane, Richarlison, Gudmundsson, Stephens
    Aguero, Auba, Kamara

Does anyone have information about Cedric and Mee - Are they ready for the season and sure starters?
Kamara and Stephens will sit on my bench. I sure would have liked to only have one 4.5 player, but I cant seem to find the funds,

Get rid of Begovic Borne defence is shocking get Patricio instead. Rest of it looks good

My idea was to have a sure starting 4.5 goalkeeper. And if he got injured I would save a transfer because the sub at 4.0 would come in and do the job.
I guess Ruddy is the second gk at wolves?

Cant find any other team that has a 4.0 second goalkeeper.

Fairly settled on this - any major issues?

    Patricio
    Mendy, Robertson, Tomkins
    Salah, Mane, Mahrez, Richarlison
    Aguero, Zaha, King

    (Stek, Peltier, AWB, Stephens).

Will get arsenal/spurs/Arnie in after a few weeks I think.

    Cheers

Same as mine. I've gone with VVD instead of Robbo just for security of starts.

Cheers- not a bad shout! Probably more important to ensure a 6.0 def starts than attacking returns...fancy vvd to get a few goals this season anyway.

    How's it looking ?

    De Gea
    Robertson Mendy PVA
    Salah Sanchez Jota Cairney
    Aubameyang Arnautovic Zaha

    Stekelenburg AWB Peltier 4.5mid

Sanchez to KDB when he returns.

Pretty happy with it except I can't pick a 4.5 mid, currently on Masuaku but Cresswell being back isn't good. Any suggestions ?

Don't think DDG will be value this year, he had a real freak 1st half of season last time.

I've gone for Brighton's Stephens, copying Jonty. Sounds like he's nailed at least, Masuaku definitely isn't.

Would appreciate any comments aside from 'WTF no Salah'. I'm fully aware of Salah's credentials, I have him in my cash draft league, Dream Team, Telegraph and Sky. I am going without in FPL at the start as it's the one game where his price is so much higher.

    Begovic/Fabianski

    Robertson/Luiz/Mendy/Wan Bissaka/Peltier

    Mane/Sanchez/B Silva/Eriksen/Richarlison

    Austin/Zohore/Aguero

Personally if I was going with no Salah I'd want some pricier forwards - I think I'd definitely have Firmino. I assume you'd be rotating the two leading strikers and perhaps Wan B, but I just feel they don't have enough quality. Can you squeeze in King in place of Austin possibly?

It's a very nice team though. I hope that midfield performs for you, because if you are brave enough to go Salah-less you deserve a top score πŸ™‚

I have been swapping that second striker around a lot. I've obviously just gone for a power 5 in midfield, power 3 at the back.

King is an option but I do like Saints fixtures and Austin when fit is a real danger. Thanks for the feedback. Firmino means downgrading Eriksen to someone cheap.

Thoughts on this different squad concept? Its pretty balanced and id say long term squad. I got 1.5 mill in the bank, please give me advices where I could use that, cheers. πŸ™‚

    Rui Patricio • 4.0
    Robbo • Bavies • TAA
    Gross • Mane • Rich • Bilva
    Auba • Kun • King

Subs: Cairney • Ric Pereira • WB

So Bavies becomes Mendy after I see him in the first two. Plan is to rotate Pereira & Gross and King & Cairney (not certain)

Sorry didnt finish it... πŸ˜† Atm 1.5 mill is there to upgrade Gross/Bilva if it looks like a needed change. Also im looking at Kane for Kun, Haz for Mane or Özil for Bilva/Gross. Also if King doesnt deliver, then I can switch him to Zaha/Arnie/Mitro comfortably.

Anyone at all toying with Lacazette over Aubameyang? I know pre season isn't much to go by, but he's been just as prolific and should surely start as the lone striker...

    Patricio / Hamer
    Robertson / Mendy / PVA / Kabasele / Wan-Bissaka
    Salah / B.Silva / Jota / Townsend / Stephens
    Lacazette / Aguero / Arnie

    Auba/Arnie

    Hamer/AWB/Stephens/Quaner

Soton really struggling defensively pre-season with back three, and Cedric no minutes under his belt.

Is Son a short term measure? Thought he was off on international duties again in a couple of weeks?

Fair point...is it worth the risk for first couple of weeks though, as Klopp says Firmino not fully match fit yet?

Who else would be a good 6m defender? Not convinced with Man U, or Chelsea after CS match.
