Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

In our fourth article of the series, Niemi has given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team; please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted and will spend some time on these pages responding.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Niemi’s RMT

Patricio – Hamer
Mendy – Robertson – Shaw – Wan-Bissaka – Bednarek
Salah – Mane – Mahrez – Richarlison – Jota
Aguero – Mitrovic – Kamara

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5 – I really like Patricio as a GK, I think he’s genuine quality. At 4.5 in a team that have strengthened a lot during the summer I think he could be one of the great bargains this season. It’s a slight risk going with a GK who’s new to the league in a promoted team, but it’s a risk that could easily pay off. I’m going to play him every week.

Hamer – 4.0 – It seems like Hamer have a shot of starting some games for Huddersfield, so he’s my pick of the 4.0s

Defenders

Robertson – 6.0 – Impressive end to last season, very attacking, decent opening fixtures and no World Cup. An easy and sensible pick in my eyes.

Mendy – 6.0 – I was initially lukewarm to Mendy as a pick, but he looks likely to start the first few games and Pep seems confident he’ll become a key player in the Manchester City side this season. With the amazing run of fixtures between gameweek 2 and 7 I’m taking the risk.

Shaw – 5.0 – Another defender I wasn’t convinced about earlier in the preseason. Although he’s now found his way into my team, I’m not totally convinced on how long he’ll remind a starter. Probably the player in my team I’m least convinced about.

Wan-Bissaka – 4.0 – Has made the right back spot his own during preseason, and is an obvious pick with Palace’s nice opening fixtures. I’ve seen Crystal Palace linked to a few right backs though, so I’m monitoring their movements on the transfer market the final days.

Bednarek – 4.0 – Emerged late last season as a budget defender and kept his price for this season. Seems to be prefered alongside Vestergaard and de Hoedt in the back three, but is facing competition from Stephens. A more nailed option is Peltier from Cardiff, but I feel Bednarek has a higher ceiling hence why I’m going with him currently. Swapping Shaw and Bednarek with 2×4.5 is something I’m weighting up.

Midfielders

Salah – 13.0 – Doesn’t really need an explanation. Been in my team since the game opened, and not going anywhere. Captaincy option every week.

Mane – 9.5 – I’ve had Eriksen in this spot for most parts of the pre-season, but Tottenham is a big worry at the moment with many players yet to return from the WC break, squad players injured, and transfer business yet to happen. Mane is for me the obvious replacement showing decent form in pre-season, as well as kind fixtures at the start and potentially penalties.

Mahrez – 9.0 – Been in and out of my team, but after the game against Chelsea I feel fairly settled with him. Looked dangerous and could easily had returns on another day. Bernardo Silva has crossed my mind, but despite Pep’s quotes I’m not convinced he’s a better pick for the start of the season.

Richarlison – 6.5 – An amazing pick at the start of last season, before totally disappearing. Had great underlying stats, and he’s a player I personally like. Everton’s pre-season form is a worry, but the potential is definitely there at 6.5.

Jota – 6.5 – Been in my team for most of the season. A key attacking player in an interesting Wolves side, and could even be used up front in some games. I’m well aware there’s a good bunch of players that do well in Championship but can’t reproduce those performances in the Premier League, but I have a feeling Jota won’t be one of them. Maddison at Leicester is also a player I’m closely monitoring and I can’t rule out him finding his way into my team at the expense of Jota or Richarlison.

Forwards

Aguero – 11.0 – A player that always finds his way into my team, who I love captaining. This season is no different; he’s been in my team the whole time and the game against Chelsea just made me more confident.

Mitrovic – 6.5 – A player that I like a lot personally. I hoped he would come in at 6.0, but I still think he could be decent value at 6.5. I fully expect him to be Fulham’s penalty taker this season, which is a big advantage.

Kamara – 4.5 – Decided early I wanted to go with a third forward at 4.5, and Kamara seems to be the pick of the bunch. I don’t expect him to be a regular starter, but he’ll probably get some minutes here and there.

Conclusion

I feel fairly confident in my team right now, but a few minor changes are possible. The defence is slightly risky but otherwise I feel my team is pretty safe with decent alternatives to my midfielders and forwards available at the same price point.

What are your thoughts on my team? Have I missed out on any obvious picks, or gone with players that I shouldn’t?

Remember, post your RMTs below in this article. There will be another new RMT Community Article tomorrow.

I have 1.0 ITB with this team. Any suggestions? Leaning towards just keeping it in reserve.

    Fostianski
    Robertson, Mendy, PVA (WB,Peltier)
    Salah, Mane, Bilva, Jota (Stephens)
    Aguero, Mitrovic, Austin

Looks a good team. I wouldn't go with Arnie die to fixtures but he could still score quite a bit so fair enough. Not sure how long Shaw continues to start but okay of you can love with it.

        Thanks.

Just feel Arnie will score goals & West Ham are surely better than last season.

Shaw is more risky but it's a way into Man Utd Def for 1/2 GWs at least.

    So this is it

    Patricio (Fabianski)
    Robertson, Mendy, Cedric (Wan-Bissaka, Peltier)
    Salah, Eriksen, B.Silva, Richarlison (McDonald)
    Firmino, Zaha, King

And I have 2,5 in the bank. I know it's not the smarters thing to do, but I want to see how things develop, and then change something. What do you say?

Solid team considering how much you have left over. Personally I would only leave max 0.5 ITB but this does give you a lot of flexibility. No obvious bad picks either.

Thanks man. I'll consider it again. Could've gone for Mane and Aguero, instead of Eriksen and Firmino. But I just can't get myself rid of Bobby that easy. And I'm afraid of the Aguero/Jesus rotation.

Like the Firmino pick. I went with Mane for now but Firmino is probably better long term.

De Gea just too expensive for a GK in my opinion. The best 4.5s will likely just about match him for points when you factor in saves.

Digne is a bit risky for me, solid player but he is a new bloke coming into an already shaky Everton defence.

    A. Moura Aguero Kamara +0.5m
    B. Eriksen Zaha King

As an Arsenal fan I want to have at least 1 Arsenal player in there and get 'coverage' from most of the top 6 teams!

          in that case get aubameyang

also "coverage" is just scout bullpoo especially when talking about attackers anyway...or is Salah, Mane, Firmino a bad forward line?

Feel like an idiot asking but...

What’s the reason everyone’s soured on Sane, Mkhi, Mahrez?

Sane was taken off at half time against Chelsea and Pep bigged up Bilva anyway

Mikki tricky fixtures and he's probably not nailed anyway especially in the tougher matches

Mahrez is better than Bilva imo but you can get an extra defender with that money

Mkhi not nailed with Ramsey fit as Arsenals attacking players will likely line up as:
      Ramsey
      Ozil Laca Auba

Sane was disappointing the community shield and Pep made some comments about Sane not being ready yet

Mahrez I'm less sure that people have soured on as I think he's a good shout

get wan-bissaka instead of bednarek and either keep or replace tomkins...personally I'd be fine with that sneaky palace double up for a few weeks but cedric-wan biss is a better combo imo

    RMT, which do we prefer:

    1)
    Ederson (Speroni)
    Azpi Robbo Coleman (Wan-B, Peltier)
    Sane Mahrez Mkhi Rich (Cairney)
    Auba Firm Tosun

    2) Swap:
Sane Mahrez Mkhi Tosun -> Salah Jota Mitrovic Sessegnon

    3) Swap:
Ederson Sane Mahrez -> Rui Salah Jota

    Thoughts?

    Ok, now Im REALLY confused.

    Which team do you prefer?

    A)
    Ryan
    Mendy Pereira Tomkins
    Salah Eriksen B. Silva Jota
    Aguero Lacazette King

    Button-4.5 mid-AWB-Peltier

    OR

    B)
    Ryan
    Mendy VvD Luiz Pereira
    Salah Eriksen Ozil Bilva
    Aguero King

    Button-4.5 mid- AwB-Kamara

well there's quite a lot I'm not keen on...your keeper choices because of fixtures...lacazette fixtures and rotation...leicester fixtures...spurs players only just back from holiday except eriksen...and the defence is a bit scabby although I could just about live with that

basically only 7-9 players I like

    Ederson
    VVD – Smalling – Roberston
    Milivojevic – Sanchez – Salah – Bsilva – Murphy
    Aguero – King

    Subs – Bissaka, Bednarek, Kamara

Peltier more nailed than Bednarek, isnt he?
Sanchez pick not to my taste, but fine if you're okay with it,
Mili personally doesnt seem best value at that price.
Smalling to start? I haven't see United preseason closely. Maybe one of VvD por Robbo to Mendy?

I'd prefer Cairney to Murphy although I know diddly squat about him...there are other options for that price as well...(also listen to differential)

Im pro-Salah, so not my cup of tea haha.
objectively, looks like a potentially high-scoring team. Maybe Azpi->Luiz and Jota/Rich to Bilva?

Well then what would you think of:

        OUT:
        Mane+Mahrez+Tosun+Ederson
        IN:
        Salah+Bilva+Mitrovic+Rui

(Could do Sessegnon without the GK swap, or just Mane+Mahrez -> Salah+Fraser directly)

Salah in, always good haha, Mitro->King though.

If I do decide to go Mane+Mahrez -> Salah+, which do you prefer:

            A) Add a MID max 6.0 (who?)
            B) Tosun -> King and a MID max 6.5 (who?)
            C) Ederson -> Rui and a MID max 7.0 (who?)
            D) Tosun, Ederson -> King, Rui and Bilva (or a MID max 7.5)

Kind of need the 2nd player to be startable generally or I need to start Wan-Bissaka, Peltier, or Cariney...

Yeah I’m also concerned, and I’m an Evertonian.

Fixtures great the first few weeks, though, and can’t think of better values except maybe Coleman -> Mendy with my 0.5 ITB...?

I'd prefer Hamer and Zaha but it's a storming team if Salah gets a groin strain in the first 5 minutes
