Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

In our fourth article of the series, Niemi has given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team; please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted and will spend some time on these pages responding.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Niemi’s RMT

Patricio – Hamer
Mendy – Robertson – Shaw – Wan-Bissaka – Bednarek
Salah – Mane – Mahrez – Richarlison – Jota
Aguero – Mitrovic – Kamara

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5 – I really like Patricio as a GK, I think he’s genuine quality. At 4.5 in a team that have strengthened a lot during the summer I think he could be one of the great bargains this season. It’s a slight risk going with a GK who’s new to the league in a promoted team, but it’s a risk that could easily pay off. I’m going to play him every week.

Hamer – 4.0 – It seems like Hamer have a shot of starting some games for Huddersfield, so he’s my pick of the 4.0s

Defenders

Robertson – 6.0 – Impressive end to last season, very attacking, decent opening fixtures and no World Cup. An easy and sensible pick in my eyes.

Mendy – 6.0 – I was initially lukewarm to Mendy as a pick, but he looks likely to start the first few games and Pep seems confident he’ll become a key player in the Manchester City side this season. With the amazing run of fixtures between gameweek 2 and 7 I’m taking the risk.

Shaw – 5.0 – Another defender I wasn’t convinced about earlier in the preseason. Although he’s now found his way into my team, I’m not totally convinced on how long he’ll remind a starter. Probably the player in my team I’m least convinced about.

Wan-Bissaka – 4.0 – Has made the right back spot his own during preseason, and is an obvious pick with Palace’s nice opening fixtures. I’ve seen Crystal Palace linked to a few right backs though, so I’m monitoring their movements on the transfer market the final days.

Bednarek – 4.0 – Emerged late last season as a budget defender and kept his price for this season. Seems to be prefered alongside Vestergaard and de Hoedt in the back three, but is facing competition from Stephens. A more nailed option is Peltier from Cardiff, but I feel Bednarek has a higher ceiling hence why I’m going with him currently. Swapping Shaw and Bednarek with 2×4.5 is something I’m weighting up.

Midfielders

Salah – 13.0 – Doesn’t really need an explanation. Been in my team since the game opened, and not going anywhere. Captaincy option every week.

Mane – 9.5 – I’ve had Eriksen in this spot for most parts of the pre-season, but Tottenham is a big worry at the moment with many players yet to return from the WC break, squad players injured, and transfer business yet to happen. Mane is for me the obvious replacement showing decent form in pre-season, as well as kind fixtures at the start and potentially penalties.

Mahrez – 9.0 – Been in and out of my team, but after the game against Chelsea I feel fairly settled with him. Looked dangerous and could easily had returns on another day. Bernardo Silva has crossed my mind, but despite Pep’s quotes I’m not convinced he’s a better pick for the start of the season.

Richarlison – 6.5 – An amazing pick at the start of last season, before totally disappearing. Had great underlying stats, and he’s a player I personally like. Everton’s pre-season form is a worry, but the potential is definitely there at 6.5.

Jota – 6.5 – Been in my team for most of the season. A key attacking player in an interesting Wolves side, and could even be used up front in some games. I’m well aware there’s a good bunch of players that do well in Championship but can’t reproduce those performances in the Premier League, but I have a feeling Jota won’t be one of them. Maddison at Leicester is also a player I’m closely monitoring and I can’t rule out him finding his way into my team at the expense of Jota or Richarlison.

Forwards

Aguero – 11.0 – A player that always finds his way into my team, who I love captaining. This season is no different; he’s been in my team the whole time and the game against Chelsea just made me more confident.

Mitrovic – 6.5 – A player that I like a lot personally. I hoped he would come in at 6.0, but I still think he could be decent value at 6.5. I fully expect him to be Fulham’s penalty taker this season, which is a big advantage.

Kamara – 4.5 – Decided early I wanted to go with a third forward at 4.5, and Kamara seems to be the pick of the bunch. I don’t expect him to be a regular starter, but he’ll probably get some minutes here and there.

Conclusion

I feel fairly confident in my team right now, but a few minor changes are possible. The defence is slightly risky but otherwise I feel my team is pretty safe with decent alternatives to my midfielders and forwards available at the same price point.

What are your thoughts on my team? Have I missed out on any obvious picks, or gone with players that I shouldn’t?

Remember, post your RMTs below in this article. There will be another new RMT Community Article tomorrow.

Rate me yall. Went with 3 Liverpool and 3 City but no Aguero.

    Ederson
    Mendy Digne Doherty
    Salah Mane Bilva Jota
    Firmino Morata Arnie

    Button, Wan-B, Peltier, Cairney

      the Morata pick stinks

apart from that I like it...I'd get Hamer-Keane-Boly instead of your guys but you've picked plenty of good players there

note that if Wolves get Zinchenko, he might play left back and Jonny might play on the right which could make Doherty vulnerable

and who's to say if Baines won't play?

RMT please? 0.5 itb. Also gtg for GW1?

    Ederson, (Patricio)
    Robertson, Daniels, Tomkins, (Mee, Wan-Bissaka)
    Mane, Mkhi, Bilva, Erisken, (Stephens)
    Aguero, Firmino (C), Zaha

£10.0 is a lot for keepers

I'd get Cook instead of Daniels - more nailed - and Adam Smith has his fans as well

Burnley are in the Europa League so I;d avoid them...also they bought Gibson who might take some games from Mee and Tark

for a team without you-know-who it's a weak-looking defence...basically I'm not sure if Eriksen is worth the cash until Spurs are rocking and rolling although he's normally a fine pick and it might turn out great for you

Plan is to change Bilva and Mkhi to DeBruyne and Stephens

    Ederson
    Smalling, Cedric, VVD (AWB, Peltier)
    Mkhi, Bilva, Salah, Jota, Mane
    Aguero, Zaha (Kamara)

Let me know what y'all think about this. Smalling a doubt, I believe.

You've already got a weak bench. Adding Stephens means you have to play one of them. Doesn't sound so good. Also if Mkhi and Bilva are there for one match only you can surely find better GW1 players for placeholders to KDB.

    Any thoughts on this lot?

    Patricio - Hamer
    Robbo - Mendy - Bavies - AWB - Peltier
    Salah - Mané - Bilva - Richarlison - Cairney
    Aubameyang - Mitrovic - King

I am fairly happy with it but not 100% confident in Bilva.

      Neves is defensive.

      Strong team overall.

Prefer Aguero to Auba for first two at least.

Thanks for the feedback. Neves is on pens I believe though? So he could be another Mili-type player. Yeah good thought on Aguero/Auba, I am tossing it up as well.

Is Neves' place likely to be threatened by Dendonker, or at least subject to rotation?

I've gone off Costa and Neves due to Wolves' strength in depth. Cairney seems more secure to me.

Your draft is fairly similar to mine but I'm starting with Kun + Auba up front to make it an easy 2FT to get Kane when he's ready.

          11m + 6.5 mid > Kane + 5m mid.

          1. Joe
            • 16 Years
            7 years, 7 months ago

Thanks, yeah that's a good idea. How about Neves to Cairney, Mane to Ralls (also on pens) and Mitro to Aguero?

            1. Andy_Social
              • 13 Years
              7 years, 7 months ago

Neves to Cairney and 6.5 to Aguero is what I've done. But for me Cardiff are unfeasibly weak so Ralls would have to be a bench-to-transfer option. If I had to have a 2nd 5m mid I'd prob rather go back to Neves!

Hmm, I suppose I could downgrade one of the defenders (probably Bavies) to make Ralls into Mili/Jota...

Yup. Tell you what would be a gift - RLC back on loan to Palace. 5.5 Lovely. Otherwise, yes Jota and Miliv are great options. I've got both (altho Mili will > RLC if it happens).

Hey everyone. I'd love some feedback/suggested improvements for this team:

    Foster
    Mendy | TAA | Shaw
    Salah (C) | Sanchez | B.Silva | Richarlison
    Aguero | King | Mitrovic

    Bench: Fabianski | Wan-Bissaka | Stephens | Peltier

1.0 ITB for flexibility (e.g. Sanchez and Mitrovic could become Aubameyang and Mkhi after a couple of weeks).

    Salah - Mané - B. Silva - Richarlison - Hudson-Odoi

Providing we don’t sign a cb I think our back four will be bellerin sokratis mustafi niles(but obviously he’s down as a mid). Leno should be nailed too

    Firmino - Agüero - Aubameyang

    Salah Mane Bilva Richarlison (Stephens)
    Aguero Zaha King

Looks good as long as Bailey starts.

I hate rotating 4.5's as I always seem to pick wrong, but it is a solid strategy nonetheless!!

I've never done it before but value articles all show how 4.5 GKs were better value than even premiums. Feel like a rotation might even enhance that as long points come from predictable fixtures (which I know isn't the case)

I agree with the value but sm just having 1 4.5m keeper. You never know when they'll get a surprise haul against a top 6 side. Like Fabianski against City last year.

      Bailey fit and nailed?

Had 13/15 same bar keepers until yesterday when I switched Bailey for Luiz.

I'll wait for Jose's presser but he looks his current best CB option.

As a Chelsea fan I'd really you that Luiz is maybe only a 3-4 game punt at best. Can Christensen displacing him sooner rather than later.

Fair enough. Avoiding Shaw for that reason, so prefer Bailey if he is likely to start. Will wait and see too.

Don’t rotate keepers.. it doesn’t work.. pick a 4.5 and keep until WC

Use the 0.5m to upgrade 5.5 to Davies

I've been trying hard to find some data on this. Have you tried 4.5 rotating keepers before? I'm going into this blind, based on theory

Read Gwiz article on clean sheets in Hot Topics. It supports the theory that keeper don’t really produce when games are easy or visa versa. But fixtures important for defenders.

Long term, a team is more likely to keep a cleanie Vs a weaker team. And a team is more likely to keep a cleanie at home.

I reckon people only remember the times they get it wrong.

Unless a few extra shots saved skews this massively but I don't believe that.

It only 'works' if you get the right pair of rotators, which is an utter lottery. Stick to one, minimize the risk. And save 0.5m to invest elsewhere.

    RMT, please 🙂

    DDG
    VVD – Mendy – Kabasele
    Salah – Mane – Bilva – Jota
    Aguero – Zaha – King

    (Hamer– Stephens – Wan-Bissaka – Peltier)

Strong. Slight risk on Kabasele imo

Would rather have a 4.5 keeper + 6.0 defender than the other way round like you have
