Legomané’s RMT

Rui Patricio, Hart

Robertson, Davies, Tomkins, Cedric, Wan-Bissaka

Salah, Mahrez, Eriksen, Kenedy, McArthur

Aguero, Arnautovic, King

The 2017-18 season nostalgia picks:

A number of players made their way into my squad before the game opened, last season’s returns fresh in mind..

Andrew Robertson’s end of season form was painful to observe as a Virgil van Dijk owner. At 6.0 he is ready to take up the Marcos Alonso mantle of most desirable defensive option in my opinion.

Mo Salah. Not out of fear. For the joy of FPL points.

With Danny Rose progressing to the World Cup Semi-Finals, Ben Davies was always going to be my next defensive target. The defender served many of us well at the beginning of last season, with double-digit potential and rotation over the opening fixtures less of a concern, he’s a must for me. I am conscious that I held onto Davies too long last season – this year I have earmarked Ben Mendy as my exit strategy, as and when.

Similarly, for Sergio Aguero, an early World Cup exit promoted him to the top of my summer watchlist, the anticipation of Brazil reaching the latter stages and rendering Gabriel Jesus a late starter seemed too good to be true. Aguero was a player I brought in ‘early’ last season at the moment everybody else switched from Morata to Firmino, GW17. I held him all the way through to GW32 so am familiar with the rotational fear that accompanies waiting for a City team sheet. I don’t know if he will be a long term pick, or if I’ll shift to Aubameyang after a few weeks (one of my preferred choices before the fixtures were released), but he’s nailed into my GW1 squad for sure.

Marko Arnautovic is another player I earmarked for inclusion at the end of last season. He’s just a fun player to own.

Kenedy is the final player in this group. A player I was keen on bringing into my squad last season, but for numerous reasons, never got round to, and watched on enviously as he returned a brace two or three gameweeks later. My squad structure includes two 5.0m midfielders and despite poor opening fixtures, he’s a player I’m keen to rotate in and out of my starting XI.

The desirables:

With Manchester City’s outrageous fixture run GWs 2-7, doubling up on attack seems bordering on essential. Having opted for Sergio Aguero, I am keen to leave a third slot open for manoeuvre after one or two weeks, once the returning KDB and co. are back in the mix. Riyad Mahrez is the player I’ve chosen. He’s a player that I’ve felt inclined to ignore over the past two season’s since his well earned price hike following the title winning season. But his FPL returns for Leicester last season, 16pts more than Sane make him almost irresistible in the City lineup. De Bruyne may well end up being the long term hold (or a double up partner) but for now, Mahrez IN!

Christian Eriksen is my third premium midfielder and it is the disarray at Spurs that draws me to him. With Kane potentially making a late return to the first team post-WC, I’m expecting the goal-thirsty Denmark version of Eriksen to step up to the mark.

My final desirable is Josh King. Early drafts included Zaha in this spot, and there are one or two 6.5 forwards I wouldn’t completely rule out – Wood, Mitrovic. King’s end of season form was mildly reminiscent to that of the previous season. Early sound bites from King about being unhappy played out of position last season lead me to believe he is about to recapture something of that form.

The uncertainties:

James Tomkins was a Free-Hit player I owned for Blank-Gameweek-35 last season. A modest 6-point return betrayed his involvement on the day, Livescore kept me informed of his numerous efforts on goal – so close to being a Free Hit hero! However, with Aaron Wan-Biassaka providing the role of 4.0 budget pick, I do wonder if doubling on Palace defence is a little much…

Cedric Soares was another early pick, a player that has always flattered to deceive in FPL. I am concerned about Mark Hughes ability to muster defensive resolve in his back line, not to mention a tummy bug denting his preseason return, so this 4.5 slot is very much up for grabs.

James McArthur was a non-pick last season thanks to the kindly priced Luka Milivojevic. However his goal scoring heroics did not go unnoticed. The arrival of Kouyate (and potentially RLC) could be a concern with the midfield options available to Hodgson fairly numerous. Helder Costa, Ruben Neves and Tom Cairney are all side steps I’m considering.

The Goal keeper pair is something I’ve toyed with a little. Pre-price releases, Dubravka at 4.5 was pencilled in as a potential set and forget, but with the early fixture run, a 5.0 valuation and the arrival and modest pricing of Portugese legend Rui Patricio at Wolves, my head has been well and truly turned!

Tapping in to Sean Dyche’s backline is something that I’ve been conscious of tinkering with since the game opened. With the defensive options receiving a token 5.0m valuation across the board, I see Joe Hart (assuming he hasn’t been brought in as cover for Lindegard!) as a reasonable budget route into the Burnley backline for the short to medium term – a spell that includes a very enticing opening run of fixtures.

Conclusion

Thoughts? Suggestions? Where have I gone wrong, and where have I gone right? What do you suggest I change? Feel free to let me know in the comments!

Evening all. I'd appreciate any tips/comments on my latest team sheet:

    De Gea;
    Robertson; Mendy;Chambers
    Salah; Richarlison; Bernardo Silva; Sanchez
    Firmino; Zaha; Jimenez

    Sub: Hamer; Holebas; Hughes; Wan-Bissaka

£0.5 in the bank still (open to suggestions!) and KDB & Pogba potential future swaps that offer long term value in midfield over Sanchez & Silva

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Bottomed

Last minute cold feet/ jitters with my boring template team and now considering an alternative. What do you think?

    A)
    Foster
    Robbo, Mendy, Tomkins*
    Salah (C), Mané*, Bilva*, Rich/Jota
    Kun, Arnie/Zaha*, King
    (Fab) (Hughes, S.Cook, Wan-B)

    B)
    Foster
    Robbo, Mendy, PVA*
    Salah (C), Mahrez*, Rich/Jota, Hughes
    Kun, Firmino*, King
    (Fab) (Hudson-Odoi, S.Cook, Wan-B)

A is template. B will mean playing one of Hughes or S. Cook probably but Firmino and Mahrez feel like much better picks than Zaha and Bilva

I’m feeling uneasy about the template Bilva and Arnie/ Zaha and tempted by Bobby, Mahrez security!

    Help me out!
    Cheers

Hmm interesting option. Bobby was my lynchpin last season so I have a soft spot for him but Mané is in such great form.

A frontline of Kun, King + fodder is quite light though no?

I like both, but that probably doesn't help much. Playing Hughes might be ok though, I've seen quite a few RMTs that have him, he seems to play at least (not that I would know anything about it to be honest). No risk no fun? 😉

Yeh I rate Hughes quite highly. He’s creative and important to Watford’s attack

    Bottomed. G2G?

    De Gea | (Hamer)

    Robertson | Mendy | Ben Davies | (Peltier | Wan-Bissaka)

Salah | Mane | Bernardo Silva | Richarlison | Fraser

    Aguero | Mitrovic | (Kamara)

Plan to WC around the international break probably.
With all the players coming back from the World Cup (Hazard, KDB, Kane etc.) it will probably be difficult to go for a long period of time without WCing.

Thanks. He's a short-term punt, as he should be nailed with Stanislas out injured.
If I get King up front instead of Fraser then I have to find 1m elsewhere, and I don't want to downgrade DDG or Davies.

    Thoughts please?

    Patricio
    Rudiger Sanchez Mendy Shaw
    Sane Mane Richarlison Jota
    Aguero Aubameyang

    Subs: Hart Bennett Romeu Quaner

£0.5m banked to mess about with Shaw, Richarlison or Jota if needs be.

    1. Don Kloppeone

That defence is way too risky imo although your front 6 is tasty

      1. Ady87
        • 12 Years
        7 years, 11 months ago

Can you elaborate on the risk? Mendy and Shaw are who I perceive the risk as but I was going to do Shaw > Bellerin GW3 for their nice run at the same price when Shaw will likely be benched. Mendy should be first choice and should have cemented himself if not for that mad injury. Am I missing anything with Sanchez? Rudiger I thought was fairly first choice now.

        1. Don Kloppeone
          • 8 Years
          7 years, 11 months ago

There are better picks at 6m than Sanchez in defence imo (Robertson main example)
As you say Shaw is a risk. Just so many question marks re Utd at the moment. Mendy is a solid pick for now

      2. Ady87
        • 12 Years
        7 years, 11 months ago

Also I could have VVD (Robertson also a risk) in for Mendy maybe? Or wait and see who emerges as first choice centre back and move him to them. He should definitely start GW 1 though?

Rudigar and Shaw, in my own opinion are not worth having until you see how United and Chelsea start. They are both a bit unstable to be honest. Better 6.0 than Sanchez with assist potential. Possibly Davies then switch to Trippier when available.
Change Bennett for Wan-Biss or Peltier(4.0 pretty mech nailed).
If you want 4.5mid and forward on the bench then forward Kamara looks the best and maybe a better 4.5 mid than Romeu, but there are couple of 5.0 mids worth a shot. Costa,Cairney,Mcarthur for example.

I thought giving RMT a chance after no response to the last post!
So what do you think, balanced or offensive?

    The balanced team1
    Patricio (Speroni)
Mendy – Robertson –Davies (Wan-Bissaka, Peltier)
Salah – Bsilva – Mane – Richarlison (Stephens)
    Aguero – Zaha – King

    Or heavy up front team2
    Patricio (Speroni) no rotation
    TAA - Peltier - Boly (Wan-Bissaka, Cedric)
Sanchez – Jota – Mane – Cairney (Richarlison)
    Aguero - Auba- Firmino

(Sanchez will be transfered to KdB after a few weeks)

    Thanks in advance =)

I'd rather have Kepa over RP myself, but there really aren't good options in the 5.0 def bracket, although I'm risking with Shaw personally

I'm not sure how to fix my defence..

    Ederson - 4.0
    Robertson - Shaw - Tomkins - Zanka - AWB
    Salah - Mane - B.Silva - Rich - Cairney
    Kun - Zaha - Arnie

Perhaps Arnie to → King and downgrade Cairney to a 4.5?

If you want to play 3-4-3 and rotate the 3 cheap defenders, Crystal Palace rotates better with Bournemouth, Watford and Newcastle the first 10 weeks than with Huddersfield. Might want to mix that up a little?

This is the happiest ive been with the look of the team.

Had to lose Costa due to wolves transfers and wanted an Everton in

    GK Foster, Fabianski
DEF Robinson, Mendy, Luiz, Shaw, Wan Bisara,
MID Salah, B Silva, Jota, Cairney, Wilshire
    FWD Aguero, Firminio, Tosun

Cairney and Wilshire rotate nicely and i fancy Wilshire in that advanced no 10 role for WHU.

Id actually bench Mendy GW 1 too.

    Thanks for any feedback

Not keen on tosun and that midfield looks way too weak for me :/

Tosun to King, Zaha or Arnie would be my preference

    Patricio / Hart
Mendy Robertson Schlupp / Wanbiss Peltier
Salah Mane Bilva Moura / Neves
    King Kun Tosun

    All good?

Think Schlupp might. be in danger even if OOP but you got Wan-B anyway
Hart I would go for if I knew when either of the other 2 are back?
      Possible Lingard starts 😕
      Moira transfer waiting to happen?
      Decent overall.

Last chance to tell me to step away from this 451 madness though I am pretty set on it. If so what would you change?
    Coleman a placeholder for Bellerin.
.5 ITB for Erik to KDB

    Patricio

    VVD Mendy Coleman Kabasele

    Salah Mane Eriksen Bilva Frazer

    Aubameyang

    Button Wan-B Kamara Quaner

Eriksen not worth it right now imo, and I’d avoid Everton DEF

Thanks both very much my placeholders til GW3 when Bellerin and KDB come in.
Any better options for the first 2 weeks.
Eve maybe better with Mina coming in?

Agree with comment above and scary going Kun-less

Who would you put in those spots for now.
I suppose I could get Bellerin in and bench for two weeks. Don't like that idea though.

Going Without Kun for this reason.
He never get more that 200 points as due to rotation and or injury he never play enough minutes
If he did he would be 250 -300 a year but it ain't going to happen.
        KDB will always be there.

Which one would you go with?

A - Pickford, VVD, Mendy Shaw
B - DDG, TAA, Mendy, Keane
C - Alisson, Mendy, Coleman, Shaw
D - Ederson, VVD, Coleman, Shaw
