The Captain Poll is now open for votes ahead of Gameweek 4 and you can watch our video on the best candidates for the armband below or on our YouTube channel.

The early favourite is Sergio Aguero (£11.2m) who faces an appealing home match-up against Newcastle, a side he is very fond of.

The Manchester City striker has scored 11 goals in his last five home meetings with the Magpies and has already netted a hat-trick in front of his own supporters this season.

With the champions set for the most attractive fixture of the week, options such as Benjamin Mendy (£6.3m) will get consideration as well as David Silva (£8.5m) and Raheem Sterling (£11.0m) if he can hold on to his place.

Also with an appealing match-up is Chelsea, who host the porous Bournemouth defence in Gameweek 4. The Cherries have only allowed two big chances so far in 2018/19, although that does include facing a goal shy Cardiff and they have still conceded three goals in as many matches.

Eden Hazard (£10.6m) is obviously the standout candidate with two assists and goal from just one start and two subsitute appearances in the first three Gameweeks of the season.

However, Pedro (£6.6m) is also an option for those unable to shoehorn the Belgian international into their sides.

As ever, Marcos Alonso (£6.7m) will form part of the conversation now that he has registered a minimum of 11 points in every match so far and has had more shots on goal than any other defender.

Of course Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) has to still be in the conversation as he’s joint-top for shots amongst all players and has created more chances than anyone else.

If you were on a WC, which 4 players would you say are almost essential for it (Salah not being one of them)?

      Pedro a rotation risk - walcott isn’t.

Walcott now has Dicharlison missing so hopefully be more reliant on him when Tosun drops deep.

I don’t normally advise on going against stats, but I feel this comparison is a complete one off!

      Walcott all day for me.

If i transfer out Salah and Masuaku i can transfer in Hazard and Moura, is it worth it?
    Than my team would be
    Patricio
    Mendy-Alonso-Trippier/AWB/Stanković
    Hazard-Mane-Moura-Mkhitaryan/Neves
    Tosun-Aguero-Zaha

it's a risk but i think hazard + mane + 2.5M to upgrade someone else is better than salah + mane until GW9.

Thinking of riding a DDG price drop for Burnley fixture then taking a -4 to do

    DDG + Kamara > 4.5-5.0 + Mitrovic/Wilson

Do you like it & how do you fill it in? (Other GK is Hamer)

    Hi

How's this WC looking? Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Ederson - Hamer
    Mendy - Robbo - Alonso - Bennett - AWB
    Salah - Hazard - Walcott - Fraser - Billing
    Aguero - Zaha - Jimenez

    £0.2 ITB

I like Mitrovic but Zaha's fixtures are too good to drop. Also considering 2 x £4.5 Goalkeepers to free up another £0.6 million

    Cheers!

I certainly hope not. Watched the Brighton game and he could've scored from a Robertson cross. Overall he looked good but often dropped off deeper to facilitate Salah and Mane, much like he did against Palace.
I'm planning on taking him out for Zaha enabling; Rich > Wally and Pereira > Alonso (-4)
Holding off doing it until I get over my fear of Firmino hauling!

Is it worth taking a 4 point hit to down grade De Gea and bring in either:

    1) Alonso for PVA or
    2) Kane for aubameyang

Or take the conservative approach and just leave things for a week and see how things pan out?

Feel a weird rolling a transfer when everyone is wildcarding and leaping on the Walcott wagon. My only concern with my team is not having Alonso but think I can run the risk as he won't keep it up and I think Bournemouth will score anyway.

Yay or nay would you hold with this team?

Mendy and Ederson seems like overkill. What do you do when last week both their clean sheets get wiped out? Mendy got lucky with those bonus points. I'd downgrade Ederson to a pair of rotating 4.5's if I was you. Not a fan of Wilson either mysely but for now he seems like an alright choice. Good team other than that.

Auba might be great when he hits form but for now hazard any day . Also it will be difficult to have 2*11m strikers and one spot has to be aguero

    4. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
      • 16 Years
      7 years, 7 months ago

Agreed. It’s also looking like hazard has a fair chance of outscoring both Mané & Salah over the next few. Particularly as he has no champs league, and better fixtures.

Something to ponder in the run up to Saturday morning I think.

dont know about that atm, auba could punish sellers this game week against cardiff .i know heaps of people say he didn't look good in the last games while i thing the service he likes was lacking. very unlucky not to have scored ones or twice already.
could see him getting a decent score this week.

Comparing the stats Hazard's miles ahead. He's far more involved, threatening and the baseline bonus looks good.
Hazard's the type of player that goes on bursts of 12/15 point hauls then will frustrate you with a series of blanks.
He's going to get somewhere between 10/15 goals a season so timing is everything.
BOU CAR are two great fixtures so the time seems right. If I was on a wildcard I'd get him in.
Auba will come good though, non-wildcard owners should keep.

I remember last week I couldn't believe that some people on here were wanting to get rid of Moura - I mean I obviously didn't forsee him scoring a brace against United, nor do I have in my team but he scored in the previous game and has looked pretty good overall so far. (and great value for 7m)

Anyone here transfer him out and if so are you looking to get back in?

    1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
      • 16 Years
      7 years, 7 months ago

I’d say he’s going to wreck some peoples seasons chasing points. When Son gets back next week and the champions league starts up he will miss as many games as he plays

    2. Kragbaek
      • 13 Years
      7 years, 7 months ago

Thought of getting him. Went with Mkhi instead and I'm not ditching that choice.

Lucas is an awesome player, and I really loved him in Paris. Just not sure he fits the Spurs way, and I'm not sure Spurs will do good this season in general.

I might get him later. He's on my watchlist 😉

With so many players going template, myself including, I thought I'd share a few tips I try to play by, in order not to be like everyone else (not that you have any reason to listen to me – lol):

    1. Trust your gut feeling! In the end, you will never win by just following tips and tricks by someone else. That will always put you 2nd 😉 Also, it will make losing worse, to pick somebody else's picks, and winning much more awesome, if you did the scouting yourself. This leads to:
    2. Watch games and decide for yourself 🙂 No feeling beats watching a player thinking "He'll do something great soon", then get him in your team, and be one of the first ones to have him when he smashes. I see a lot of "I didn't get to watch X game, how did Y do?" – don't think others will share their most precious findings.
    3. Do the math. The members section is filled with statistical gems. Collect. Compare. Be ahead. (Not an ad, but seriously, buy membership)
    4. Points over price. JUST because a player is soon going to rise, doesn't mean you have to buy him. Of course, bandwagons happen for a reason, but don't jump on just because a player is about to rise. In the end, you win by the points you score, players and tactics. Don't be like everyone else. With this being said, pay attention to http://www.fplstatistics.co.uk/
    5. Calm down. Remember, you did your picks for a reason. Don't let one match change your deep, deep decisions. Follow your plan. Ditch when necessary, but not too soon.

Anyways, cheers you guys, I've been sidelined for a few years, favourising a national game in Denmark, but this year, I'm here to kick butt in the FPL. And I will.

Guys, are we really going to trust a guy who's number 1 in the butt hole?

Kidding aside - it's good advice.
And good luck in your first season. It's a different game from what you're used to - with tougher competion - but it's a much, much better game!

Big, big difference there though 🙂
Been playing FPL a 4-5 years since my switch from holdet and that top5k has eluded me still - although I've ben close once or twice.
