@ Limbo - how is the betting going this weekend?

Got Liverpool v Leicester right but not great. Down £21 unless a miracle happens today. At one stage was offered £70 (Fulham 2-1 up and 1-1 Everton Hudds) but it fell sharply when saints scored second and Brighton scored equaliser. Missed v.small window this week.

I should have cashed out 50% at that point and banked £35 but thought Everton would grab one.

I celebrated my acca coming in, only to see that Fulham had given up their 2-0 lead and ruined it... cost me a couple hundred quid!!

Should I take a 4 point hit for Alonso + Pedro (replacing B Silva and Tarks)

Yeah, Alonso will recoup that with an assist and bonus in one GW, nevermind future yields.

Who thoughts that UTD defender could be a differential?

  4. Differentiator

Can't believe people are rushing to sell Salah (and I don't even own him). if anything, he is better suited to the hard fixtures coming up given the space in behind the defence, as demonstrated last season...

Against Spurs, Chelsea and City, across the 6 games (And bearing in mind in one game vs. City Mane was sent off early), he netted 5 times and got 1 assist.

And then sandwiched in between the 'hard' fixtures is the plum game against Southampton.

I don't get the scramble but each to their own.

Given no bonus points in his first 4 games, I’d he does net in 5 out of the 6, that doesn’t outweigh Mane’s form and the £3m spent making defence premium etc

Same fixtures Mane got 1 goal. That's it. Mane is not clinical. he struggles against the top defences and often gets dispossessed

Don't forget that there's CL games against PSG and Napoli sandwiched into that run:
      http://www.skysports.com/liverpool-fixtures

...and given Klopp's far bigger squad this year and comments about rotation, I'd imagine his minutes will be managed (best case scenario)

Think I'm going to go for Walcott -> Pedro with my FT

Pedro isn't in the Spanish international squad, but Hazard is in the Belgian squad. Can definitely see Pedro starting against Cardiff.

Don’t understand why people are selling Walcott if they just brought him in. Is he confirmed out injured?

      1. BenDavies
        • 13 Years

Because I only got him in for these two fixtures. Short term pick that failed. Onto Pedro now.

Yes. But Marco Silva hasn't exactly allayed my fears over Walcott. Hasn't said when he'll be back. No point waiting, just going to be pro-active and get Pedro in for a good fixture home to Cardiff.

If you have a wc you can bank Trollcott's rise by selling him now. Buying him was a (very) short term gamble.

      Decent enough transfer.

I don’t see the relevance of Hazard being in the Belgian squad though. What’s that got to do with Pedro?

      1. BenDavies
        • 13 Years
        8 years, 1 day ago

I just meant that Pedro will be fresh. Hazard may be reeling from international duty meaning burden may be on Pedro to perform GWK 5. Just theorizing.

What changes would you make to this team:
    Foster Fabianski
    Mendy Shaw Robertson AWB Peltier
    BSilva Mane Salah Walcott Cairney
    Aguero Arnautovic Wilson

I'm thinking Peltier to Alonso and salah to hazard. Would you make those moves for free or is there something else more pressing?

    1. Stats Don\'t Lie

Shaw > Alonso, bilva > Fraser?

      1. The Pep Revolution
        • 15 Years

That is an option and I did consider it but it leaves my midfield rather weak. And BSilva was unlucky not to have an assist yesterday and that was from the bench. If city click against Fulham there could be a few goals in that one.

      No.

I also wouldn't trust anything Palace say on Zaha. They are a one-man team and will say he is closer to being fit then he really is. They were doing this last season too when Zaha was injured after the first game of the season.

I'm trying to start a rhetoric that he is overpriced for his output though. If Mhki and Moura do something today, then Mhki, Moura, Pedro, Milner/Pereyra will be matching Hazard, Mane and Salah, meaning you should only have one of the big guns and not multiple. The money is far better spent elsewhere.

You are right that there - it’s never suicidal going without anybody or people being “essential”. That extra 3 million is a decent upgrade for other players there’s no doubt. Some people on here are just totally hysterical about “essential” players.

We are only 3 and half GW’s in, I wouldn’t conclude cheaper players matching continues. Not saying they won’t but I wouldn’t jump to conclusions.... so many people here have WC’d already so it’s then difficult to get Salah back. And he will then start scoring for fun again at some point and on here all you’ll read is “he’s essential”, “is it worth selling so and so and so and so for a 12 point hit to get Salah?” and Jonty talking about his points per million and how he’s such fantastic value.... seen this movie so many times before. Harry Kane last season for example. Cheaper players were outperforming him last season, he was “too expensive”, the games best player took a 20 point hit getting rid of him. Then he scores a hat trick and there’s a scramble to get him back and he finishes second only to Salah in terms or overall points.

I'm so surprised to see so many people doing it.. Can't really see the logic in it so early in the season.

I guess if you will have a WC to use afterwards to get Salah back. But honestly, Spurs is a tough game but I think I can see Salah delivering against Saints, Chelsea and even City.

I don’t know if it’s maverick. Haz is scoring and has fixtures even if he scraped a return in which he “always” delivers yesterday. Spurs will not be an easy game for Salah and City are City despite Pools record vs Pep.

🙂 Its not actually a wildcard team, thats just my team. Was curious to see reactions. Seems its mainly the united defence that bothers people which is fair enough.

Hazard needs to be there imo. Pedro rotation risk, DDG too expensive with this ManU form, Shaw the same, Moura ok now byt when Son is back he is a risk.
      Rest is good.

Poor tbh. Double United def no.
      Wbissaka no
Mhki dont rate long term myself
Pedro wouldn't bring in if didnt already own
      Moura ...son returning
      No Hazard
      No Kane
      No Mane
      That's a few reasons

Looks good. 8710. I'd do some things differently:
Dont like the selection headaches of having 12 players (all 1m+ Over base, battling for your 10 outfieldslots)
Ryan button: gives 1.5 to invest elsewhere.
      Moura--> 4.4 playing mid (3rd bench player)
      Pedro-> Haz
      Shaw -> Bellend

Dont hate it, dont love it.

Theres allways the case to be made that rotation can bring max pts, but to often one ends up giving away pts at a step price.

Effectively, my thinking is that your paying an excess of 1.5-2.0m, to increase the average of points off the bench, the few times the bench is needed.

Ive spent 0.5 more than needed on my "benchplayers". Thats not for everyone, but I like the options those extra pounds give me.

Fair enough. I had Kamara for a long time and figure that its time I used the cash to cover my arse a bit with a half decent bench.

I know Salah has done really well over the last 4 gws (better than last season) but the tricky fixtures, including CL and the fact that shaqiri signed and sturridge is playing well I can see him being rested a couple of times (especially for the sou game)

I compared him in the first three, with the last game, and if I did it properly, he actually increased goal threat. Tomkins absence is damaging, but I have to give him Huddersfield.

After that I'll probably take him out for a hit, to restructure the team, as I already have RAM.

so far having another poor GW on 31 points with Ings coming off the bench and Bellerin, Mkhi and Pererya to play.

    Team for GW 5.

    Fabianski,
    Bellerin, Alonso, Mendy, Robertson
    Mkhi, Pererya, Salah
    Aguero, Ings, Zaha

    Bench: Foster, Gross, Duffy, Romeu

    Any obvious changes required?

Hit the button last night. What do you think on this 1st draft:

    Ederson (4.0)
    Alonso - D.Luiz - Mendy - Robertson (AWB)
Hazard - Mane - Richarlison (Fraser - Billing)
    Aguero - Arnautovic - Mitrovic

will already get Richarlison, so I don’t have to use a FT to get him back, but I’ll bench him this GW obviously and just play Fraser (LEI) instead

What’s the overall opinion on it?
Would you suggest any obvious changes?

    thx
