I think he looks promising, really good fixtures and seemingly on some set pieces, however I don't see them keeping that many clean sheets.

He loves going forward and might play wingback for a team that always try to score goals. Is on some set pieces and costs 4,5.

But the will not keep many clean sheets. Thats the biggest problem with Rico!

I have him though! Not the biggest risk

    4. Dyballer
      • 7 Years
      7 years, 8 months ago

Yes. Definitely worth considering as a 4th (or 3rd defender). I am torn between him and Doherty. Bournemouth have conceded the joint fewest big chances (with Liverpool) and Wolves have conceded the joint 2nd fewest with Man City. Doherty posts the bigger goalscoring threat and possibly better CS chance, but Rico has much better assisting potential as well as set piece advantage. If you have Fraser, I would go for Doherty, otherwise go for Rico imo.

Haha! That makes it a bit trickier... I wouldn’t want to triple up on Bournemouth or double up on Wolves’s defence! Since this is your WC, I would suggest either getting Doherty and a different goalkeeper or getting Rico and abandoning Fraser as hard as it may seem 😉

but I don't think defender is related to mid/forward so much. they may get 0-0 and rico 9 pointer while wilson and fraser fail

              • 7 Years

Only reason I say this is because Rico will affect Fraser’s attacking returns. Fraser’s assist was from a freekick. Rico could have taken that when he was on the pitch. Also, Rico’s runs down the left may mean playing 3-4-3 more often (where Fraser isn’t as productive). Stanislas should also be back soon to provide more competition on the wings of Fraser doesn’t perform in a new formation. Wilson will be the focus of the crosses into the box, so I wouldn’t be worried about him

Prob the best WC team I have seen.

I would be tempted to do Ryan over McCarthy, and Bennett over Shaw and pocket the 1m or upgrade Ward to one of the 5.0’s who are playing and look decent prospects.

But honestly still just grasping at straws. Your team is perfect.

Really good team. Potential benching headache with defenders / Fraser, but at the same time I think a solid bench might come in handy this year. Not entirely sold on the GK combo, maybe someone other than McCarthy to go with Patricio?
Other than that I think it's more or less perfect

Agree that Patricio seems like the best 4.5 GK, good fixtures as well. I'm currently looking at Patricio/Foster
(Fabianski->Patricio). If Shaw is out I guess there could be good value in Wolves' defenders as well.

Good team. You'll cry when the Kane hat tricks start firing in.

I had a similar draft wc team, but decided to go with just three quality defenders (kept Shaw, didn't;t get Robbo/Gomez/TAA).

So I have Mane instead of Salah; Bennett instead of Robbo. No Hazard yet.

This allowed me Kane+Kun (or rotate another premium striker on fixtures), plus a mid-range midfield that I am now not happy with (Mane, Moura, Neves, Miki, Wally [who becomes Rich again the following week])

This game is more fun when you can't have everyone you want.

Looks good. My only thoughts would be not sure if I'd go double Bournmouth attack personally. I'm also not convinced selling the current highest scoring mid/forward player in the game is sensible. But Hazard is tempting and can't fit them all in so I guess something has to give if you want him.

Yeah worried about double Bournemouth attack as well. But I'd only need to play them in home games, as some weeks I'd play 433

Off topic but so sick of seeing Tennis people try to defend Serena. She acted like a petulant child and now claims it’s all part of an equality crusade.

I get she’s done great things but she’s 36 years old, not a teenager. Serena should know better than to run her mouth directly at the umpire and throw around accusations.

Imagine an experienced footballer (male or female) shouting at the ref that they are a thief, no way they stay on the pitch.

Serena could have retired gracefully to develop a new career, spend more time with her family, and to be remembered as a truly great champion. However, these days it seems that graceful is not an admirable trait, so instead we get a disgraceful bullying selfish petulant descent from greatness to childishness. Pity.

      Equality crusade?

Going to ignore the rest of this post.

I don’t understand what you mean by crusade? You think that women asking that men don’t act differently to them, haress them, objectify them, belittle them, penalise them, becaus they are women, is a crusade?

Men lecturing women on what is and what isn’t sexism is like choosing a panel of mass murderers to be on the jury of a murder trial.

Yes, exactly. The moment women point out that different rules apply to them, it becomes a 'crusade'. Loads of examples of men losing their sh*t on a sports-field and it just gets brushed off as a 'competitive edge'. She definitely has a temper, Serena, but that's not a particularly exclusive club amonst sporting greats.

There’s a difference in getting frustrated at yourself and targeting the ref/umpire. I don’t like to see anyone doing it. Someone who is held up as a role model, who isn’t a precocious teenager, should not being doing it. To then suggest afterwards that it’s sexism is just weak.

For what it’s worth I think that the catsuit thing is nonsense, players can wear what they want. Cornet has a point about double standards with regards to clothing. Serena broke actual rules that make sense and is trying to get away with it!

The gender of someone making a point is not important, that is equality.

My point is that accusing an umpire of sexism because you were acting like a child is wrong. It’s a cheap tactic and it actually hurts the struggle for equality.

I like Williams. She is a sore loser and all winners are sore losers. I have seen Murray, Federer, Djokovic and Nadal all throw their toys out of the pram so I don't care about it.

Fergie was the same at Utd. Some arrogance and being a sore loser is part of being a winner IMO.

As I have said before, I have never met anyone in life who has said that they want to be a loser.

There are different levels though, accusing the umpire of being a thief is not acceptable in any sport.

Agreed although the ump needed to apply a little more common sense given the occasion by using warnings.

Any thoughts on what to do with this?

    Fabianski / Foster
Alonso Mendy Robertson Shaw / AWB
Salah Mane Walcott Fraser / Hughes
    Aguero Arnautovic / Kamara.

I guess the main question marks are whether Shaw and Walcott will play, as well as Fab, Arnie, and no Hazard.

When do people think Son will start his first PL game? I imagine he's match-fit and ready to play, but how quickly will Poch drop Lucas or Dele for him?

Ownership of 1.4% is so enticing, as are his fixtures from GW6 to GW9 (bha/hud/CAR/whu)

I reckon he will at least make a cameo by GW6. If Lucas or Alli don’t perform in GW5 or their CL match, Son has a good chance of starting GW6. People are maybe waiting til after he starts, but the risk is not that great; it’s not as if he was injured. He will still be match-fit

Can't drop Moura after his streak. Alli not been good for a while now, but he seems to be Poch's favourite.

Spurs would be better with Eriksen in #10 behind Kane, with Son/Lamela and Moura out wide, imho.

Looking for a replacement for Shaw on WC. Like the look of Chilwell which gives cash for another upgrade too. Are there any other 5.0 defs I should consider or does this move look sensible? My logic in brackets

Shaw (potentially out) & Bennett (less secure long term) > Chilwell (great fixtures and decent looking stats) & Doherty (more nailed and attacking than Bennett, plus will play GW5)

I think it depends on if you plan on using both regularly. Bennett could become a rotation risk soon with the signing of Dendoncker and I wouldn’t be comfortable playing a 4m defender with no attacking potential anyway. Overall, Chilwell and Doherty are the better pair, but Shaw is the better individual. If you have to play two of them more than once in your next five games, I’d go for Chilwell and Doherty

Moura- good enough form not to be replaced, but perhaps vulnerable after 1 or 2 poor performances
Fraser- great underlying stats and excellent fixtures, cheap
Schurrle- good attacking team, no bonus yet as has been overshadowed by Mitro etc but loves a shot. May not be 100% nailed long term with Vietto, AK47 and Sessegnon also vying for a wing slot
Maddison- great fixtures, seems to be Leicester’s talisman and could be great with Vardy back
Pedro- decent and underpriced but a rotation risk like you say, I wouldn’t be comfortable with him
Pereyra- don’t think he’ll continue, very low xG and not the nicest of fixtures
Ramsey- genuinely interesting, think he’s nailed because if he doesn’t play in the 3 behind striker, he’ll play deep. Lovely fixtures too, but not the safest of bets

I’d probably go for Fraser and save myself some money whilst doing so

Thank you for the detailed analysis which I largely agree with.
You are right, Ramsay is an interesting one.
