There were impressive performances for Aleksandar Mitrovic and Andrew Robertson on international duty on Monday night.

That may be of encouraging news to their owners currently worried about whether to start them for difficult fixtures in Gameweek 5.

All that and more Fantasy Premier League talking points from another night of international action in this latest Scout Notes article.

SERBIA 2-2 ROMANIA

Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6.7m) – 90 minutes
Nemanja Matic (£5.0m) – 19 minutes

Aleksandar Mitrovic continued his blistering start to the season by adding another two goals to his tally. The Fulham man has now found the net six times in the first five matches of 2018/19 with two assists to boot, one of his club and one for his country. In his last 30 matches in all competitions he has scored 23 goals.

Such form should ease any concerns among Mitrovic’s 19% ownership about starting him in Gameweek 5 when he faces a trip to Manchester City. The champions remain without a clean sheet in their first two home matches of the campaign while Fulham have registered more big chances than either of the sides to have already scored at the Etihad Stadium in 2018/19.

SCOTLAND 2-0 ALBANIA

Andrew Robertson (£6.1m) – 90 minutes
Kevin McDonald (£4.5m) – 45 minutes
Stuart Armstrong (£5.3m) – 45 minutes
Scott McTominay (£4.4m) – 11 minutes

Andrew Robertson was a standout performer for Scotland as they recorded a much-needed win over Albania. The Liverpool man has recently been handed the captain’s armband and he led by example at Hampden Park. Much of the play went down the left side of the pitch and it was Robertson’s cross for Steven Naismith that created Berat Djimsiti’s own-goal.

There was disappointment for the 6% of Fantasy managers invested in Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser (£5.6m) as it was revealed he picked up a knock in training with Scotland and missed the match with Albania. He is now a doubt for Gameweek 5.

Robert Snodgrass (£5.5m) and Callum Paterson (£5.3m) were unused substitutes for Alex McLeish’s Scotland side.

PORTUGAL 1-0 ITALY

Rui Patrício (£4.5m) – 90 minutes
Rúben Neves (£5.2m) – 90 minutes
Bernardo Silva (£7.6m) – 90 minutes

Jorginho (£5.1m) – 90 minutes
Emerson Palmieri (£5.3m) – 16 minutes

There was a positive update on Bernardo Silva after he played the full 90 minutes for Portugal as they beat Italy in their UEFA Nations League debut. The Manchester City man had revealed last week that he came out of a friendly match at half-time with a groin complaint, but his run out on Monday night allays any injury fears ahead of Gameweek 5.

Rui Patrício got another 90 minutes under his belt, which should come as no surprise. But there was another full appearance for his Wolves colleague Rúben Neves who appears to be slowly establishing himself in the international picture. Southampton’s Cedric Soares was an unused substitute again.

Jorginho was the only Premier League player to play the whole match for Italy. Chelsea teammate Emerson Palmieri made his debut for the Azzurri while Davide Zappacosta (£5.2m) was not in the matchday squad.

SWEDEN 2-3 TURKEY

Victor Lindelöf (£4.9m) – 90 minutes

Caglar Söyüncü (£5.0m) – 90 minutes
Cenk Tosun (£7.0m) – 90 minutes

Everton striker Cenk Tosun played his part in a dramatic comeback Nations League win for Turkey on Monday night. He provided the assist for Emre Akbaba’s first goal of the night, an 88th-minute equaliser.

Elsewhere there was a second full appearance of the campaign for Leicester new boy Caglar Söyüncü as he builds up his match fitness. Watford’s Ken Sema (£4.9m) was an unused substitute for Sweden.

Just watched the Portugal vs Italy highlights, and Portugal and Bernado Silva looked very sharp. Over and out.

Unfortunately, Bilva played 90 mins, after "injury"

So could be rested on the weekend 🙁

Please explain your thinking. Playing 90 minutes is a sign that a player is capable of playing 90 mins imo

I was 100% sure he's gonna start against Fullham, then he was subbed at half time with groin concern in his first international game and was marked as "injured". 2 days later he played 90 mins and, yes, looked great.

But now Pep can save him for CL with the above concerns

Or he could prioritise the victory in the next match, and if that includes Bilva, then he can haul him off if they're winning (or not winning), then prioritise victory in the following match.

In these internationals, I think it would be poor form to give 90 mins to a player with a genuine problem.

No one on this site ever talks about how good is BSilva; just will he play questions, all the time.

I guess that's because there is no question about his quality. The only real related question imo is where he will play, and so whether he will get opportunities, but I think that if he plays, he is worth the price in any position except FB, CB and GK.

I can't remember the exact quote, but I feel like I remember Pep talking about BSilva in that All or Nothing series. Said something like he was still coming up to speed in his first season, but he should be ready for his second.

Should see an increase in game time I think, barring injuries. But then again, it's Pep 🙄

Sure. I would expect increased gametime too. But there's no reason to believe he's nailed. In fact there's strong evidence to suggest he isn't.

I was considering this until I watched the highlights. Dilva's stats are better, but that includes Bilva playing as a "wing-back" in one match, and it's not worth the money and the 4 points to make the switch right now, I don't think.

Good point, might just wait a week and reassess. D. Silva looks like the City mid to go with at the moment but in no hurry if B. Silva's playing so well.

Is there a way to find out how much I paid for a player. Sometimes I can do the maths for example I can sell Walcott for £6.6m, his current value is £6.8 so I must have bought him at £6.5, so if he drops by £0.1 I can still sell for £6.6 so makes no difference.

However Hazard for example I can sell at £10.6 but is worth £10.7. So I'm not sure if I bought at £10.6 or £10.5.

    Thanks

    Afternoon fellas,

Trying to finalise my wildcard, nearly there I think and have narrowed it down to 2 options:

    A Mccarthy, Hamer
    Mendy, Robbo, Alonso,Holebas, WB
    Haz, Moura, Mane, Dilva, Billing
    Kun, Mitro, Deeney
    £0.3m ITB

    B Mccarthy, Hamer
    Mendy, Robbo, Alonso, Bennett, WB
    Haz, Salah, Moura, Fraser, Neves
    Kun, Mitro, Deeney

    Which would you go with?

Obviously any help/critiques on any players I've missed/how I could improve it will be much appreciated too.

    Thanks

        Open to other ideas though

Thoughts on this WC team? I'm 0.1 short atm but I'll be able to afford it if Robertson goes up again (he's at 96.5%):

      DDG - Hamer
      Mendy - Alonso - Chillwell - AWB - Doherty
      Hazard - Mane - Dilva - Pedro - Schurrle
      Mitrovic - Ings - Aguero

      * The Chillwell / AWB / Doherty rotation gives some pretty nice fixtures: BUR HUD SOU WOL WAT WHU car BUR
      * Pedro would probably be a temporary option as I'll probably end up getting Richarlison for him in a few weeks.
      * Having both Ings and Schurrle might give me a selection headache but I don't mind rotating them or having one of them come off the bench in case someone else gets rotated/injured.
      * I've kept DDG because I don't feel comfortable setting and forgetting a cheap GK option, and there's no clear cheap GK option at the moment. Can also see a few CS in the next few games - wat WOL whu NEW.

Pretty sweet. I have also gone for the DSilva-Mane-Hazard triple up.

The only one I would be wary of there is Schurrle. I would suggest Fraser if he is fit.

I like the look of Schurle when fit into a strong squad (such as this). I would go with Maddison over Pedro myself.

In the long term I think Maddison is the better option, but for this GW I can't look past Pedro vs CAR.
Could always replace Pedro next GW when Maddison plays HUD.

If you have Mkhi & Zaha in the team, would you use the 1 FT to transfer out Mkhi for Maddison before his price rise.

If Zaha is confirmed to be out, then take a hit and being someone else in?

I was set on Fraser but injury news has had me reconsider.. I will await news for Fraser but if he's out I'm getting Maddison

                  Fraser.

Maddison is in a team that primarily defends while Fraser is in a team that primarily attacks. The extra budget is nice too but I'd go Fraser even if they were the same price.

Two thoughts, wondering what yours are on these:

                1. A lot of love for Pedro, is there none for Kovacic? Seems like if there is rotation it’s mainly between Pedro and Willian (although it’s early, but based on the info we have to date) and he’s cheaper as well

                2. How are people reasoning with Walcott if it’s as it’s reported now, that he’s touch and go. I’m holding my transfer but thinking between starting or benching him. What’s everybody’s thoughts on that? The scare is that he doesn’t start but does get some minutes towards the end ..

                Cheers

                  1) Kovacic hasn't shown much potential from a point scoring perspective but could be a good differential, lots of people going with Kante as the cheap option.

2)I personally sold Wally this week for the reason you mentioned above, got Maddison in, more chance of him playing 90 minutes and got some money in the bank for when Richarlison is fit again.

                    1) I saw their game vs Bournemouth and thought he got into several goal scoring positions

                      (Pressed post to soon...)

1... but of course it’s soon in the season. I’ll keep him on my radar at least.

                      2. If you wouldn’t have sold him (like I’m trying not to do haha), would you start him or bench him? (Others that could play are WanB v hudds or Trent v Spurs.

Which out of these would you not start? Whoever doesn't start will be 1st bench spot:

                A) Robertson (Away to Tottenham)
                B) Bennett (Home to Burnley)
                C) Wan-Bissaka (Away to Huddersfield)
                D) Walcott (Home to West Ham)
                E) Mitrovic (Away to Man City)
                F) Zaha (Away to Huddersfield)

Currently Mitrovic is 1st bench but this article is raising doubts.

                  Wan-Bassaka IMO.
Bennet higher change of keeping CS at home.
The others have some good scoring potential wouldn't want to bench any of them .

If Pedro doesnt play I have Bennet and AWB, on bench, its fine.

Just thinking between Schurrle and Pedro who is coming. And dont have Mitrovic.

Pedro will always play - just a question if its 60 or 30 mins.

Went with the triple up in GW4 with my WC, worked out pretty darn well.

Nailed it. Identical except I'd stick with Fraser over Hughes
