Had Hazard captain all week with Fraser in my starting 11... last minute changed to Kun captain and put Fraser as 2nd sub as I thought he wouldn't start. Toughest weekend of my life !

He has to score sometime but you have enough points this week to worry about such things. If he scores you keeping him?

Haha true, but more points the better 😉
I think so, I’ve just switched Mkihi out for Richarlison last night before the price fall but still have 1ft left. Considering Demarai Gery our for Fraser to catch his price rise tonight but not sure.. Tosun is lurking there not getting many points.. but in games he’s putting in some right graft

Hope you all did well so far.

Little cheesed with Fraser and AWB points on the bench.

On 52 with McCarthy left and Bennett off the bench for Mendy so small green arrow is okay.

I have 50pts and firmly in the red. Even though top 10k ave is 45pts. Am I missing something?

Sorry to hear you left Fraser on the bench. I was lucky enough to have rage tranferred him in for Walcott last week and there was egg on my face up until team sheet was announced. Walcott might return yet so 50/50

Second in my ML did Hazard captain instead of Aguero but he had to take the risk as he's well behind. Fo those leading well like myself the risk was not worth it. Hazard is a troll as he's proved again. 😀

How about this squad with the big 7?

    Patracio
    Alonso, Robertson, Mendy
    Salah, Mane, Hazard, Fraser
    Aguero, Ings, Jimenez

    Subs: Hamer, AWB, Bennett, Billing

    1. Salarrivederci

It is very good. Much like what a few transfers will transform my team into. WC right?

Personally I don't like Mane AND Salah. I would downgrade Mané -> D. Silva
Ings -> 4.5 (Succes looks like a third bench player who can give you steady 1-pointers)
and then Billing -> Richarlison/Maddison/Lingard/who you like at that price.

Not balanced. Can be problem which J0E was talking about - too much money in few players and crap rest. Ings and Jimenez may be a real problem.

I'm not saying its awful but Mane, Jimenez/Ings > Richa/Maddison, Mitro/Zaha AND about 2.0 ITB to upgrade elsewhere is better imo

            • 8 Years

*even Mane, Ings, Jimenez > Richa/Maddison, Zaha and Mitrovic!

        2. Salarrivederci
          • 8 Years

I like Jiménez due to their fixtures. I would mby get another 4.5 instead of Patricio. Would make you able to adapt better without feeling forced into a Wolves double up in defense every fourth GW or so 😉

(I have Ryan, and it is not perfect, but in a GW like this I play Bennet, and I will also play him in GW7)
I don't like Ings at all due to their fixtures. They are turning now, and you will bench him in the next 5 GW's anyway. Might as well save 1.2 and get Succes.

          1. Salarrivederci
            • 8 Years
            5 years, 7 months ago

Then you will have to decide amongst playing Jiménez, Bennet, AWB and Succes most GW's unless Fraser has an awful fixture.

Mendy, Alonso, Robertson, Salah, Hazard, D. Silva, Richarlison, Fraser, Agüero would be set and forget as long as not injured.

Same move in my case too. Firmino to Ings to make Wally to Hazard. Glad i had brought wally as rich substitute as had to remove him for Haz after his injury. His 20pts more than made up for the hit

I kept 2.7m itb to get Hazard GW6 for free instead of a hit.
      Bad decision in hindsight.

      Pedro to Hazard
Mendy (if injured) or Alonso to 5m ish defender. 2 FTs.

At least you got Haz points, though.

I didn’t get him last week because I’d have really needed to take an 8 pointer to do it.

I did it with 2FT last night though. Accept I’ve missed out on possibly his biggest haul of the season though, but that was my choice so not going to complain about that.

I looked at the top 20 players in my biggest money league and they all capped Aguero. I dont think there were too many Haz cappers among top managers. Of course great job to anyone who did, but non cap owners should be very happy too.

why would i want to lose either for next week? mane had two assists butchered and vorm made two decent salah saves, in a supposed tough fixture. fine margins

            • 5 Years

But this can be said about so many other FPL assets. Hypothetical goals and assists mean nothing if they stay hypothetical for so long... Schurrle was close to a brace against City in that case. Salah is fine as a season keeper if you really believe he will repeat last season’s points and want to captain him, but playing on ifs and whens is not the way to go. Sure, Salah could haul next week, but that won’t excuse him for doing little in previous weeks to justify his price

Mane out is what I would be looking at. If I had the cash at hand, or didn't mind losing another of my players I would do it in a heartbeat. However I'm happy with the rest of my team.

If Mendy is ruled out for a while it will make things pretty easy.

Waiting for a GW10(ish) WC to bring him in as now have missed the Cardif points and am praying he doesn't go crazy against West Ham.

Got him in and then (c)'d him last minute. In the end it's just luck. The guy hasn't scored a hattie since 2014. I went for the armband just cos of lower ownership and such a high ownership of Aguero. If it had gone wrong it would have gone badly wrong but there we are

Salah will be my captain next GW.
Can't cope with City rotation, and I think the fact that Hazard and Salah is criminally listed as midfielders makes them that much better (C) options compared to Kane, Agüero, Lukaku and so on.

that 1 CS point and 1 point more pr. goal is huge.

There would be need to take out Salah or Mane if you just have/play AWB/Doherty instead of Alonso/Mendy 😉 Alonso and Mendy need attacking returns almost every game to be worth that amount...Salah, Mane & Hazard all to get double-digits next weekend...the best 3 mids in the game 😀

I'd made my ft 2 weeks ago but Alli being ruled out made the switch easier for me even for a hit. I captained because I felt Kun's pitch time was going to be managed with a CL fixture coming up

Did Mane ➡ Hazard (-4) this week. Did not captain.

My reasoning was that the move was for 4 weeks, and it had to start with Hazard playing Cardiff and Mane in one of Pool's 3 tough fixtures. It would make no sense to sell Mane before SOU. And it still doesn't.

As for the hit, over 4 weeks, it's just a -1 each week, so I was expecting Hazard to yield profit despite that. Of course, I'm not going to pretend that I was expecting a 20 pointer.

Tbh though, I'm not sure I made the right choice selling Mane and keeping Salah because Mane looked better yesterday.

        Very similar for me.

Made the move to drop Salah to Haz to free up cash and with the hope that Haz would match Salah over the 4.

        20 points was a pleasant surprise 😉

Not having him has cost me big time this GW, but can't shake the feeling that ditching Salah or Mane now before SOU will have made the sacrifice this weekend completely pointless. The most likely scenario is I hang tight and hope Pedro & Alonso do enough to mollify Hazard's points against West Ham, then rage transfer out whichever Liverpool man blanks/is benched vs SOU for him in GW7.

I think we have missed out on his haul. I know there's a strong urge to go to Salah or Mane to Hazard, but I feel it's more likely to be "chasing points" now. Let's be honest IF both Salah & Mane start aren't they more likely to score more points at home to SOU than Hazard scoring away to WHU. I really wanted to bring Hazard in for last GW, was talked out of it by a friend, a lot of people who were banging on Salah's "underlying statistics" & Shaw's availability as per Mourinho. Had Shaw been ruled out I'd have got him in place of Mane. There's no point crying over spilt milk now, just gotta take it on the chin that u missed out on it & move on. Certainly no point taking out one of Liverpool's mids for SOU home.

Is there a risk one of Mane or Salah with get a rest after playing 90 this weekend and potentially another draining 90 midweek?

Certainly less likely Haz will play midweek

That's a possibility, undoubtedly. But then who out of them will be rested is anyone's guess. What happens if you drop one of them & bring Hazard in & Hazard has a relatively quiet week (even 5-6 points) & the player you dropped goes on & scores a couple of goals. Dropping one of them if you have both is a risky business.

I brought Haz in on wildcard. I dropped Salah and brought in Mane to fund but still keep Liv. asset.

However, if I hadn’t already made the transfer for this week, I would hold Salah through the SouthHampton fixture. Or I’d be looking for 3 budget forwards and keep Salah while also bringing in Hazard. Which I might still do in the future.

Previously sold Mane for Hazard. Didn’t have the guts to put the armband on him though. He’s trolled me too many times with a plum fixture. Happy for the points and the incoming price rise(s).

Did not start the season with Aguero. First two weeks I fell way way behind the pack. WC’d week before last with Hazard in the priority.

Very happy I capped him! Totally back in contention in mini-leagues now, a high differential this week.

And to have Fraser too... fpl life is good right now..

The decisions to own or not own Hazard and to play or bench Fraser this week were game-changing ones - unfortunately I got them both badly wrong.

I would love to have owned Hazard, but didn't really want to lose any of Salah, Mane or Aguero, especially with Liverpool playing Southampton next. But if I had brought him in then it would have been a very close call between Hazard and Aguero for the armband.

I didn't think Hazard was worth a hit or a wildcard, but Captain Hindsight has proved me wrong so far - even a hokey-cokey between Salah and Hazard would have been profitable as it turned out.

Benching Fraser and not even putting him first on my bench, though, was just a bad decision. His injury turned out to be less serious than many had suggested and I was afraid of him coming on for a one-point cameo, but his ceiling was far higher than Jorginho's so it was a poor decision.

See also vballer's hulked comment 4 or 5 hours ago which made a strong argument in favour of the Salah -> Hazard transfer:

I didn’t like any of my ways to bring him in without at least two hits, plus needed to deal with my Mkhitaryan problem, so rage wildcarded in advance of last night’s price rise/fall. Saved 0.2 as a result, but was really hoping to be able to wait until GW9 to WC.

Since I want to keep Mane, I financed the move by essentially going Aguero/Auba/Mkhitaryan to Vardy/Mitro/Hazard plus a little cash for a giant couch to hide behind.

I got Haz in last night for Eriksen.

Like I said earlier, I fully expect that I’ve missed his biggest haul of the season by not getting him in over the International break, and that’s no one else’s fault but my own.

But looking at the way Sarri has set Chelsea up Haz is pretty much playing in a free role up top, and seems to be enjoying his role now.

There’s more points in him, though, so I was happy to be late to the party to at least finally have him. Better to have him now than not at all.

And I still have Salah so hopefully he’ll start doing the business soon too.

I'd already committed to D Silva over Hazard in GW4 and it meant wildcarding or dropping salah to get hazard in GW5. I did the maths for the next ten gameweeks and didn't see huge upside in tearing my team apart. The maths assumed salah would slightly outperform hazard long term due to his superior goal threat stats, but I knew hazard was on the form of his life.

Now I need to decide how quickly hazard will regress to mean....any tips welcome!

I brought him in at 2:00 am today for Salah. A few reason why I did, firstly: his price was going up (and probably will again this week, while Salah's may drop. Secondly: erring for two weeks on bringing Hazard in has cost me 0.1m, and 49pts (factoring in my captain choices), thirdly: the stats are flattering Salah, he's not taking his chances, and Hazard is. Salah is getting crowded out often by defenders and he's not having the same impact a season last year. Hazard has been used to that sort of attention for years. Forthly: West Ham away is basically like a home fixture for their opponents, their fans hate that stadium, and their teams a mess, whereas Southampton are about mid table for chances given up, I can see a 2-0 Liverpool victory tops, and it may well be Mane, Firmino, or anyone getting those goals. Fifthly and finally: 13m is too much for Salah, he's not going to score 300 pts+ this season, and be worth that cost. Hazard will probably get around 200pts and be worth his cost long term.

Nope. I can't bring him in. Never once considered captaining him over Aguero playing Fulham at home. Firmino Dilva, the other possible guy who could have made way did their bit, so factoring in the hit and a non-captain in Hazard, I would have been maybe 4-5 points better off, which really isn't worth a guaranteed -4 in the first place. All of which brings us to Salah. Single transfer from him to Hazard is all I could have done to benefit and that was a hard decision given Salah had Sou GW6.

Can't bring him in unfortunately this week too, which probably means Hazard is off limits for the next few gameweeks by which time he'll probably be back trolling. He crushes me every season (Newcastle last year, Everton the year before...) with a haul when all of my ML has captained him, so this is no different and I'm very calm about it. It'll be fun trying to find alternatives but if there is one guy I'm happy for people to own, it's Azzar. Let's see how it goes in a few weeks.

Pep said he picked up an injury and maybe out for days or weeks and that it's good to have Delph available and in form but I don't believe Pep. Just like he said Agüero was feeling uncomfortable in the 2nd half when he was looking so agile and ready to continue. The man himself took a free kick after the 2nd assist. I think it's more of personal issues with Mendy maybe. If Mendy was injured I don't think he would go to twitter and say expect more of the same... Directing this msg to us Fpl fans. Can’t downgrade Lukaku and replace with Silva because I already have three City players. Regarding Höjbjerg, don’t like having a good fifth midfielder since it gives me a selection headache. And yeah Luiz might be dodgy but he is 1.3 cheaper and when Alonso keeps a clean sheet, so does Luiz and probably gets away with some baps aswell as I saw against Bournemouth.

Didn't look like a really bad injury but he has had issues with his ankles before so a wait and see unfortunately.

    D) Kane
    E) Lukaku
    F) Aguero
    G) Ings

I'm fairly sure I wasted my wildcard this gw but up to 3rd in the very prestigious FFS non members league so I'll deal with it.

4-4-2 isn't working for Burnley IMO.

Ah well, Helder Costa blocking AWB (seems foolish in hindsight)...need a goal or a little knock in the warmup to avoid a complete disaster this wk 🙁

Keep Mendy definitely and keep Aguero until concrete news comes on the extent of his injury.
