After deploying his Wildcard and turning to his arch nemesis in Gameweek 5, the FPL General is in better spirits for his latest column.

This week he reveals his love for his newfound ally and gives his thoughts on the Salah debate.

Find out what he believes are the key talking points for Gameweek 6.

Hazard is a tro– I mean legend

Did Eden Hazard really score a hat-trick while he was in my side? I still can’t believe it. The player that has caused me and many others so much pain in FPL redeemed himself somewhat with a sensational 20-point return in Gameweek 5.

Maurizio Sarri has suggested the Belgian could score 30-35 goals this season; music to the ears of his owners. His link-up play with Olivier Giroud was key in his mega points haul against Cardiff, with the Frenchman creating two of Hazard’s three goals in his first 90-minute appearance of the campaign.

If he nails down the starting striker berth at Chelsea ahead of the misfiring Alvaro Morata, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Hazard reach Sarri’s prediction of 30+ goals.

Another big performance from Hazard against West Ham in Gameweek 6 will see the terms ‘essential’ and ‘must-have’ brandished alongside his name. He’s already the most transferred in player this week.

Time for Mo to go?

One possible route to Hazard for a lot of managers is losing Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian has blanked in his last three appearances if you include the midweek Champions League win over PSG. He’s the most transferred-out player ahead of Gameweek 6, many presumably making the switch to Hazard.

Selling Salah before a home game against Southampton is a risky move though. I feel last week was the optimum time to go #NoSalah when Liverpool had Spurs away and Hazard faced Cardiff at home.

Salah stays in my team for Southampton. If he blanks again, he could be gone by the time Gameweek 7 rolls around.
West Ham looked a lot stronger with Declan Rice and Pedro Obiang in midfield in the 3-1 win over Everton. They could frustrate Hazard and Co. on Sunday.

The Special Wan

Aaron Wan-Bissaka. What a guy. He’s well on his way to becoming the best £4.0m defender in FPL history. A lot of us got his 9-pointer off the bench in Gameweek 5. He’s a gift from the FPL Gods. Cherish him.

Manchester United assets stake their claim

Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba impressed again in United’s 3-0 win over Young Boys on Wednesday night. Shaw put in another assured performance at left back which should see him keep his place for the visit of Wolves. Pogba scored a brace including one from the spot and set up Anthony Martial for United’s third. Can he bring this form into the Wolves fixture? Priced at £8.2m, he shouldn’t be ignored with a nice run of fixtures coming up.

Captaincy

It’s a tricky one this week. There’s no runaway leader in the poll with Salah, Hazard, Aguero and Mane all viable options among others.

Liverpool have the home fixture, but can we justify giving Mo the armband considering his form? Maybe Mane is the better pick against his former side? Will Hazard deliver against a West Ham side buoyed by their victory in Gameweek 5? Aguero didn’t start in the Champions League midweek, does that mean he’s nailed on to start vs Cardiff? Why has he only scored in one Gameweek so far?

Lots of questions and no answers. The beauty of FPL. It’s going to be a very interesting Gameweek. Whatever happens, FPL Twitter will be entertaining as the pro-Salah and no Salah sides go toe to toe after the Liverpool vs Southampton game. Get the popcorn ready.

Good luck to all in Gameweek 6.

Aye, what I've caught of the last couple games I thought he looked particularly bright. Still lacking a bit of final product, but so much better than how he finished last season.

I didn't watch yesterday, but can't imagine any of them came out of that with any credit. Other than the Lyon game, he has only played more than 15 mins in one league game, where he looked reasonable v a Fulham team who didn't offer much (especially after he scored after 100 seconds). But I think a goal and a couple of bonus v Fulham is a long way short of his best

I wasn't talking about fantasy form. I saw some of the Lyon match and watched all the Fulham game. I know it's only Fulham but he looked impressive. Not his best by far but better. I can certainly see him starting the odd Prem game and allowing other forwards to rest for CL. If he does, chances are Mendy won't start those games.

I think it showed much better returns for picking players who we rate in real life but aren't rewarded in FPL (your Kante's for tackles/recoveries) and needed to be smarting with a 25 man squad.

You are just priced out of DDG to 4.5 and Mane to Hazard. You could go down to 4.4 fulham gk. But Mane too has a good fixture so not sure if you want to change now. And next fixture is tough for both. Maybe just Pedro to Fraser if you like him.

Neither mad nor genius. Just confused to point of making a bad decision to shy away from the real one. Not even that hard really. If you're unsure of Salah at home to Saints then he shouldn't be in your team. He's your captain and if not then Aguero and get rid of Salah.

People keep saying it but I really don't think im forced to captain salah coz he's in my team. Just that I thought Mitro could score better than Salah given circumstances that's all

        1. Pinturicchio10
          7 years, 10 months ago

You're not forced, no. But I'd question having a really dangerous attacker like Salah at home to Southampton and it being an issue. Often form will go out the window when we're talking about top players in top teams at home to weak opposition. I'm likely going with Aubameyang (c) this week, his form does not enter my thoughts at all as Arsenal are very attacking and Everton are woeful defensively. If I had Salah he'd be my guy. No second guesses at all. If it doesn't work then so be it, just one week out of 38, ya know? Good luck with your decision.

I am on WC, this is my defence:
    Alexabder-Arnold | Alonso | W Bissaka | Bennet | Mendy (doubt)

If Mendy is out, would you double up on Liverpool with Robertson or go Trippier?

    Thanks

    Contemplating Wildcard:
    Current:
    Allison/Begovic
    VVD/Alonso/Maguire/Wan Biss/Shaw
    Salah/Pogba/Pedro/Shurrle/Neves
    Chicarito/Aguero/Mitrovic

    To:
    Allison/Hamer
    Gomez/Alonso/Laporte/Wan Biss/Shaw
    Hazard/Pogba/Lucas Moura/Fraser/Mane
    Deeney/Firminio/Mitovic

Big ones are Salah and aguero out, Probably getting more balance but a risk leaving them out. Thoughts?

Is there any logical footballing reason as to why Mkhi lost his place?

He was playing well and surely works harder than Ozil defensively too (even if only just)

Is he likely to come back in?

I could use some ideas on my midfield

Hazard, Salah, Moura and Bilva. 1FT and .2 ITB.

Considering either holding for 2FT next week to use funds freed up by a potential No-Salah, this week depending. Or, ship Moura or Bilva out this week for a 6-7m and free up a bit of cash.

    Richarlison redemption? Fraser? Maddison?

    Any ideas appreciated.

Am I the only one holding onto Salah and Mane for Southampton? Seems like everyone is bringing in Hazard - is this suicide or has it become a good differential?

Far too much reading into “minutes played” here. If Willian is the captain that says to me that Sarri values him and he has a good chance of getting starts in the PL.

Any suggestions for this WC Team chaps? 0 ITB.

    Hennessey
    Alonso, Robertson, Mendy*
    Hazard, Mane, Fraser, Dilva, Richarlison
    Aguero, Mitrovic

    (Patricio, Ings, AWB, Bennett)

    - Want to keep hold of Mendy as had him from the start
    - Sticking with Aguero for another week
    - Keen to stick with Robertson, not sure what I would do with the savings if I downgraded to TAA/Gomez?
    - Worth starting with Maddison for (HUD) then switching to Rich next week?

    Cheers

    Arnie owners- stick or twist?

Really glad I went for him over Zaha at the start but with some tough fixtures and being an injury doubt again it's making it hard for me to hold. Only reason I would is because it would be a -4. Mitrovic is luring me in though.
