The Gameweek 6 captain debate looks set to be the most difficult of the season so far.

The top three candidates according to our poll all have favourable fixtures and can also boast impressive underlying numbers.

While there are alternative options worth considering, this week we seek to answer which one of Mohamed Salah, Eden Hazard and Sergio Aguero should get your armband.

Captain Poll

Gameweek 6 could prove an incredibly dramatic one as the most-sold player is the current captain poll leader.

Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) has already been transferred out by 219,000+ Fantasy managers but has a 30% share of our vote (at time of writing).

The Liverpool man has blanked for two weeks in a row, and five midfield options have registered more points than him so far this season.

However, it would seem that those who have voted in our poll are keeping faith in Salah based on some impressive underlying statistics that we’ll touch on below. A home fixture against Southampton is hugely appealing, too.

Currently occupying second place is last week’s hat-trick hero Eden Hazard (£10.9m), who has been backed by roughly 22% of voters.

The Chelsea man is now the only FPL asset to register returns in every match so far, despite not even starting the first two Gameweeks.

His next opponent West Ham are still without a clean sheet, and their defensive frailties should prove easy for Hazard to exploit.

Last week’s runaway captain poll winner Sergio Aguero (£11.4m) has to settle for third place this time around with 18% of the votes.

Large numbers of his owners will admit to being disappointed that the Manchester City forward only registered two assists against Fulham and no goals. That may be one of the reasons why more are trusting Salah and Hazard.

Also, the Argentinian picked up a knock in that match but returned to action for a substitute’s appearance against Lyon in the Champions League midweek.

The fact that he did not start on Wednesday night suggests that, at the very least, he will lead the line on Saturday when the defending champions visit a vulnerable Cardiff City side.

Not surprisingly, Fantasy managers are considering Sadio Mané (£10.0m) as the best of the rest, with an 8% share of the vote. The Senegalese midfielder offers a cheaper route into the Liverpool attack than Salah, is in good form and may relish a match against his former employers in Southampton.

Romelu Lukaku (£11.0m) and Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6.8m) both sit in the 3% bracket while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.9m), Jamie Vardy (£8.9m), Ryan Fraser (£5.7m). Harry Kane (£12.5m) and Roberto Firmino (£9.4m) are the only other options currently above 1%.

    Morning Guys!

    Save a transfer this week?

    De Gea
    Mendy Robbo WanB Alonso
    Hazard Walcot Mane Fraser
    Zaha Aguero

    Subs: Hamer, Tomkins, Hughes, Kamara

I've playing my WC this week and ditched the Liverpool defender because of their fixtures. I've gone with a Man City defender and two 4.5 goalkeepers. I'm not impressed with Maddison so far. The rest looks good.

    Patricio Foster
    Robertson Mendy Alonso Peltier AWB
    Salah Mane LucasMoura Pedro Cairney
    Aguero Arnie Ings

Mendy, Peltier, Pedro, Cairney, Arnie. Ings all doubts, or cant play. I dont have 1 active bench player and 3 doubts in my 11, plus the rotation threat from lucas, salah and mane

Mane vs Salah(for those who may not know)
      Points: 41 vs 29
      Minutes played: 430 vs 426
      Shots: 15 vs 23
      Big chances: 2 vs 6
      Chances created: 8 vs 16
Opposition box touches: 28 vs 40
Make of it what you will but unless Salah has regressed back to his Roma days which I'm confident he has not, he will outscore Mane and I personally don't think it'll be close when all is said and done

Did you see how he played against Spurs or PSG? Klopp was frustrated with his passing against Spurs and he gave 2 bad passes against PSG and on cost a goal.. He is in bad form, looks fysically tired and mentally frustrated.. coming up next:are Chelsea x 2, Napoli and ManC.. I think LFC want Salah in those games with fresh legs so I wouldnt be too suprised if this it the time to rest him and give debut for Shaqiri who is in good form and full of energy.. Just saying tha I have a feeling He gets the rest and then two games against top 6.. I think his value is cole to start diving..

GTG or take -4 with extra transfer?
    0ft - £4,6M itb

    Hennessey - (Hamer)
Alonso, TAA, AWB, Mendy(?) - (Bennett)
    Hazard(c), Mane, Moura, Fraser, Pedro(?)
    Aguero (Joselu, Ings)

Thinking about Joselu to Laca or Firmino as Pedro (shoulder/rotaion) and Mendy (knee) are pretty big doubts.. Any other succestions or just save 4 points..

Opinion on this LWC side for UCL GW2? 🙂

    De Gea / Oblak
    Alaba / Kimmich / Bonucci / Ramos / Godin
Di Maria / Sterling / DSilva / Pjanic / Reus
    Neymar / Mbappe / Lewandowski

Sane over Silva if he starts (we will see the lineups before the deadline). Also Douglas Costa over Pjanic if he starts.

I will have pretty much the same team 🙂

I will wait for lineup yes. Why Douglas Costa over Pjanic? Pjanic main creator in this team or not? I`m considering also Meunier over Di Maria. But I don`t like other midfield options too much...

        1. Meinhoff
          • 14 Years

He is the main creator but sits deep, similar to Eriksen. His two goals this week were from penalties, so set pieces are the only way for him to score basically but that could also happen.

Douglas Cousta should play in the front three, especially now that Cristiano is banned.

Or maybe Bernardeschi better option than both? Which midfielders do you look? Under and Isco at my radar too.

Yes, Bernardeschi also an option depending on the lineup, but is he a mid in this game?

Not really sure on the mids yet, but Sterling, James Rodriguez, Sane, Di Maria, D. Costa, even Pogba, all in contention.

Only player from Roma will be Kolarov, for a potential CS and a set piece goal maybe. And he plays on the first day so I can easily change him for Atletico def the day after.

So says FPL expert Lee Bonfield, who believes, like the 248,000 Fantasy managers who have sold the Liverpool midfielder this Gameweek, there is greater value to be found elsewhere.

"There’s definitely a case for getting rid of Salah," Bonfield says in the latest FPL Show. "He’s performing at a level of £10.0m or a £11.0m. He’s not a £13.0m right now."

The stats of Salah and a popular replacement, Chelsea's Eden Hazard (£10.9m), are compared on the show and one figure stands out for Bonfield: the price.

"If you’ve got big plans for that extra £2.1m I honestly think it’s worth it right now," he says.

Another expert advising selling Salah before Southampton at home... Huge potential to backfire.

Huge potential to backfire but it's easy to say the safe thing and say Salah is a great player.

I'm on WC and I can't decide on Salah + Jimenez/Wilson/Zaha vs Mane + Lacazette

  30. Jealous Viper

Mane vs Salah(for those who may not know)
    Points: 41 vs 29
    Minutes played: 430 vs 426
    Shots: 15 vs 23
    Big chances: 2 vs 6
    Chances created: 8 vs 16
Opposition box touches: 28 vs 40
Make of it what you will but unless Salah has regressed back to his Roma days which I'm confident he has not, he will outscore Mane and I personally don't think it'll be close when all is said and done

Cap is on him now for me. Feel WHU will be a tougher match than people think. Agueros away form last season just nudges it to Mo for me though he could feasibly get a hasty there, Cardiff are woeful. That possible extra CS point too doesn't hurt. All 3 could have excellent returns but at home against a porous Soton defence, I feel Salah has an excellent chance of outscoring all 3.
