The Community Round-up: Hazard, Mendy and crushing disappointment

The Fantasy Football Scout community have been at their tireless best again this week, producing the usual excellent array of articles and tables to help with our planning for Gameweek 6.

The hot topics, meanwhile, have ranged from Eden Hazard’s hat-trick performance to the biggest Fantasy Premier League let-downs of 2018/19 to date.

We also look over the various tournaments and mini-leagues that involve FFS users.

Our latest Community Round-up feature has it all covered.

The Hottest Topics

Rotation’s Alter Ego, who also brought us a helpful injury news summary, asked the community for their thoughts on Eden Hazard after the Belgian’s monster haul in Chelsea’s win over Cardiff City last weekend.

Our daily hot topic on Monday asked the community for their recommendations for forwards priced at £7.0m or under, with the cases of Aleksandar Mitrovic, Callum Wilson and Wilfried Zaha, among others, championed.

Fantasy managers love a good moan and FatmanAndRobin‘s hot topic that asked for the biggest FPL disappointment of the season so far drew a lot of responses.

stat meanwhile raised the thorny issue of multiple FPL accounts and presented several excellent ideas on how this practice could be clamped down on.

Those who like to skip to their favourite bits on the Scoutcast will find Rotation Alter’s Ego meticulously marked timestamps very useful, while this week also saw the launch of a new video series on our YouTube channel. J0E was joined by Triggerlips for our very first Meet the Manager and subsequently asked for further candidates to make themselves known for future editions of this show.

ItOnlyTook9Years summarised the points needed to reach each milestone overall rank after Gameweek 5, while G-Whizz brought us his weekly triple whammy of “Doosra stats”, clean sheet probabilities and fixture odds ahead of Gameweek 6.

The look ahead to this weekend continued with our speculations on who will be the breakout star of Gameweek 6, while we also analysed the FPL lessons from the UEFA Champions League matches in midweek.

Benjamin Mendy was ruled out of Manchester City’s trip to Cardiff City by Pep Guardiola on Friday, meanwhile: are you keeping or selling?

Away from FPL, we asked what your goals were for the remaining eight weeks of Fantasy Eliteserien.

Community Articles

Three excellent articles to bring you this week.

With the UEFA Champions League getting underway, The Cisco Kid gave us a helpful primer on the UCL Fantasy game.

Hutch_James brought us the weekly Wisdom of the Crowd, while Greyhead returned with our regular The Great and the Good.

Community Tables

Below is a selection of the many fine tables created by our site users in the Members’ area. Remember, to see your table featured here (if that’s what you want!) please ensure you include a description explaining the purpose of it.

Community Tournaments

Cosmin Rotaru still leads our main public FFS League and is now up to 12th overall.

Andrew McKinnon is the new leader of our FFS Members League with 102 points this game-week, his third century of the season, after captaining Hazard and has shot up to 42nd overall. This is his second FPL season and he has not yet used any of his chips.

Chris James has taken the lead in FFS Mods & Cons after playing his wildcard. This is his ninth season, and he should stand a good chance of beating his previous best finish (28,110th in 2014/15).

Ben Harwood is the new leader of RedLightning‘s Top 10k Any Season mini-league after captaining Hazard and is up to 54th overall. This is his sixth season, his highest finish being 374th in 2016/17. He also continues to lead PDM’s Top 1k ANY season mini-league.

The new world number one is Brayden McCullough with a Gameweek score of 118 after captaining Hazard and having Fraser auto-subbed from the bench. This is his 1st season and he has already played his Triple Captain and Wildcard.

In TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition, former winner Nice To Finally Michu top-scored with 112. The safety score was set at 45, which saw 217 eliminated and over 3,200 remain.

A Community Tournament of a different kind… (by Peter Kouwenberg)

February 24th 2018. The big winners were Liverpool and Brighton, who each recorded 4-1 victories in their respective triumphs over West Ham and Championship-bound Swansea. However, in North London, under the banner of Sparta Rotterdam, a team of FFScout luminaries were also celebrating, as they lifted the inaugural Fantasy Football Scout Charity Cup, a real-life football tournament which brought to together over 30 grassroots players from around the country.

The Charity Cup is returning in the afternoon of Saturday 17 November 2018 (during an international break) and promises to be bigger and better than ever. Format will depend on numbers, but with a full 3G 11-aside pitch (which can also be divided) available to us all afternoon between 2pm-7pm we have the capacity and flexibility to structure the day however we wish and play until we drop or succumb to the pub landlord’s call.

We are extremely fortunate to have secured The Thomas Parmiter Sports Centre in north Watford (WD25 0UU), which is a fabulous facility and is perfectly located just minutes away from Junction 6 of the M1 and Junction 21A of the M25. For those travelling up from London by train, Garston Station is just 1.5 miles away. We will have the entire venue to ourselves with ample parking and with a number of pubs barely a mile away.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to take part, whatever the level and whether you are fit enough to play all day or just make a cameo appearance. We’ll be organising players into squads so you don’t need to round up a team yourself, although feel free to bring invite a guest player or two to boost the numbers. All you need to do is email peter.kouwenberg76@gmail.com as soon as possible to confirm your interest and provide your contact details, at which point you’ll be added to the relevant WhatsApp group unless you would prefer to be kept informed by email or text instead.

February’s tournament proved a huge success and raised over £1,000 for Melanoma Research Foundation. This year we hope to raise more even money, involve even more players and do even more post-match drinking…
