In this article, we take a look at how the current top 10,000 teams in Fantasy Premier League shaped up for Gameweek 6.

First of all, it is important to note that we are still in the very early stages of the season and the ranks of the current top 10k managers fluctuate wildly from week to week.

As we can see from the above graphic, the difference between the top 10k and top 50k is just 20 points. Add another 11 points difference and you reach the top 100k. The margins, therefore, are still very tight and we shouldn’t be too concerned about our overall ranks at this juncture.

As for chip usage, 4.3% of managers in the top 10k used their Wildcard this week. This pushes the usage of the chip among this sample of FPL bosses to 48.38%, meaning that almost half of the top 10,000 managers’ wildcards have already been used.

As expected, the current top 10k managers have benefited from the use of more chips than the average overall. In a sample of 50,000 random managers, the total Wildcard use is just 27.23%.

However, there are still 42.5% of current top 10k teams who are yet to deploy a chip, which gives them a competitive edge at this point.

Onto team selection. Below is a team of the most-owned players in the top 10k:

One of the key things to notice is how the ownership of Mohamed Salah has been declining fast and he is now in just 34% of the sampled teams. His teammate, Sadio Mane, has more than double that ownership with almost 70%. In addition, Eden Hazard‘s ownership in the top 10k has spiked to 89.55%, a close second to Sergio Aguero who has 89.82%.

Aguero is also leading the captaincy stats in the top 10k as we see below:

Looking more into the Wildcard teams, with this being the chip most widely deployed in Gameweek 6, we see that the Wildcarders opted for some different picks than the most-owned players.

The main difference is the non-inclusion of Benjamin Mendy among the most-owned defenders due to his injury – Wildcarders instead went for cheap options like Matt Doherty and Ryan Bennett of Wolves.

Another key name not featuring in the “template” Wildcard team is Salah. Richarlison and James Maddison replace him, while, of course, Hazard is in practically every Wildcard team (94.65%).

To see which Premier League sides have made bigger contributions to the top 10k teams, we look at the following figure:

Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are the main sources for picks in the top 10k, with averages of 2.2, 2.1 and 2.0 players per FPL team. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace contribute 1.6 players per team – mostly Wilfried Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. There is also at least one (1.1) Bournemouth player in every top 10k team.

As for Wildcarders, those five aforementioned teams are still the top five sides to pick from, but with more distribution between them.

The number of Liverpool players remains the same, with Roberto Firmino and the Reds’ defenders replacing Salah, while the number of Manchester City players is decreasing in Wildcards from 2.2 to just 1.7; the absence of Mendy and the usual midfield rotation could be the main reasons for such a decline. On the rise though is the ownership of Crystal Palace (1.6 to 1.8), Bournemouth (1.1 to 1.2), Fulham (0.6 to 0.7) and Leicester (0.5 to 0.7) assets, as all enjoy decent fixtures in the coming weeks.

I don't think it's as clear cut personally. Fulham concede for fun whilst Brighton have become solid when playing the big teams (see Liverpool away, United and Spurs). Also Aguero will likely be subbed early if city are winning because of the midweek CL game that they need to win

    Hudson-Odoi - Danny Ward a good move?

Sorts out my 2nd bench sub and means I can hold onto Mendy without the worry of not fielding 11.

I suppose there is no screenage prior to newborns name registration. They' re allowed to choose names according to their preferences.

Maicon from Inter Milan was supposed to be Michael. There are more examples like this.

On a WC. Which players would you highly recommend?

    Looking at something like:

    Patricio / Fabianski

    Alonso Trippier Shaw Doherty WB

    Hazard Pogba Richarlison Fraser Hojbjerg

    Mitrovic Auba/Laca/Kane Aguero

Planning on maybe shifting Kane, Trippier and one of my mids for LIV players after their next two GWs if I their form continues 🙂

Tally up your GK points on the season. How much do you have? Would you have been better off with a fire and forget in Ederson (30 pts)?

Personally, my 4.5m rotation has outscored Ederson. I have 32pts from GK this season. Quite pleased with that. Cheaper too.

Yeah hopefully! I like Ryan as a keeper and the fixture run coming up persuaded me to put him in. The annoying thing is that I put Fabri in as a 4.5m rotation with Ryan the week before Fabri was dropped, so i could have swerved Brighton's difficult fixtures

Currently debating what to do atm with keepers. Had Ederson for a while now and at least I can feel comfortable thinking i’ll Get a cleanie there. But with any budget keeper I don’t get that, I won’t even feel comfortable downgrading to Ryan for their great run as there is no defence like pool’s or city’s I just don’t know

I was all set on selling Salah but I have just watched MotD and he played well, a few good chances and is clearly not lacking in confidence with that back heel attempt. What are other owners doing?

Keeping I think. I'll probably sell Mane for Hazard.

I don't have Mane sadly. I want Hazard though.

      Keeping. He's fixture proof.

Keeping regardless of fixtures - underlying stats indicate there's still potential to be unlocked with him already on for a 20 goal season

The plan was to keep him regardless of today. His ownership is at 43% which is getting pretty low and I expect him to be a big captain differential for the Liverpool games after the next 2 gwks - i think they're against huddersfield and cardiff as well 😀

Can’t wait for all the people who think they’re better off without him by the time the Huddersfield and Cardiff fixtures come around

He'll be back in my team after the next two weeks.

That's fine, you wasted 2 transfers on it and it means the rest of your team could suffer because of it as you might have other fires to put out.

      Keeping.
Had him and Mane til I wildcarded Mane out for Hazard.

I’ve got fabianski/Foster/Daniels/Neves and possibly Mendy to ditch, as well as wanting to shift one of Salah/Mane for Hazard.

Time to press the WC button?

Despite only one double digit haul I have just noticed I haven’t had a Captain blank yet *touches wood*

Had just the one with Mane in GW3 but otherwise there's been a good few reliable options

To those who have missed the Hazard bandwagon, are still considering to bring him in? His next 3 fixtures are quite tough
