In this article, we take a look at how the current top 10,000 teams in Fantasy Premier League shaped up for Gameweek 6.

First of all, it is important to note that we are still in the very early stages of the season and the ranks of the current top 10k managers fluctuate wildly from week to week.

As we can see from the above graphic, the difference between the top 10k and top 50k is just 20 points. Add another 11 points difference and you reach the top 100k. The margins, therefore, are still very tight and we shouldn’t be too concerned about our overall ranks at this juncture.

As for chip usage, 4.3% of managers in the top 10k used their Wildcard this week. This pushes the usage of the chip among this sample of FPL bosses to 48.38%, meaning that almost half of the top 10,000 managers’ wildcards have already been used.

As expected, the current top 10k managers have benefited from the use of more chips than the average overall. In a sample of 50,000 random managers, the total Wildcard use is just 27.23%.

However, there are still 42.5% of current top 10k teams who are yet to deploy a chip, which gives them a competitive edge at this point.

Onto team selection. Below is a team of the most-owned players in the top 10k:

One of the key things to notice is how the ownership of Mohamed Salah has been declining fast and he is now in just 34% of the sampled teams. His teammate, Sadio Mane, has more than double that ownership with almost 70%. In addition, Eden Hazard‘s ownership in the top 10k has spiked to 89.55%, a close second to Sergio Aguero who has 89.82%.

Aguero is also leading the captaincy stats in the top 10k as we see below:

Looking more into the Wildcard teams, with this being the chip most widely deployed in Gameweek 6, we see that the Wildcarders opted for some different picks than the most-owned players.

The main difference is the non-inclusion of Benjamin Mendy among the most-owned defenders due to his injury – Wildcarders instead went for cheap options like Matt Doherty and Ryan Bennett of Wolves.

Another key name not featuring in the “template” Wildcard team is Salah. Richarlison and James Maddison replace him, while, of course, Hazard is in practically every Wildcard team (94.65%).

To see which Premier League sides have made bigger contributions to the top 10k teams, we look at the following figure:

Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are the main sources for picks in the top 10k, with averages of 2.2, 2.1 and 2.0 players per FPL team. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace contribute 1.6 players per team – mostly Wilfried Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. There is also at least one (1.1) Bournemouth player in every top 10k team.

As for Wildcarders, those five aforementioned teams are still the top five sides to pick from, but with more distribution between them.

The number of Liverpool players remains the same, with Roberto Firmino and the Reds’ defenders replacing Salah, while the number of Manchester City players is decreasing in Wildcards from 2.2 to just 1.7; the absence of Mendy and the usual midfield rotation could be the main reasons for such a decline. On the rise though is the ownership of Crystal Palace (1.6 to 1.8), Bournemouth (1.1 to 1.2), Fulham (0.6 to 0.7) and Leicester (0.5 to 0.7) assets, as all enjoy decent fixtures in the coming weeks.

Hold fire. Does Kamara play? If not, I'd trade him out for a playing player. I'd also get rid of Bellerin - that Arsenal team are not looking good at the back. Great team though - awesome midfield! What is your overall rank?

      1. Francescoli

sitting at 20k at the moment.

Kamara is just bench fodder. Was considering dropping one of my mid price mids to Ward and upgrading Kamara to Mitrovic. However, I think I'll stick with the 352 formation for a while.

I'm giving Bellerin a few more weeks - fixtures are good. Hoping for a clean sheet and assist soon!

You can get away with playing AWB or Bennett instead of Mendy tbh, so i would keep the transfer

That's what I'm thinking. Bennett has a better fixture next week, however AWB attracts the bonus. Tough call who to play.

    Ederson
    WB,Robbo,Alonso
    Mane,Fraser,Moura,Hazard
    Mitro,Wilson,Kun(C)

    Subs Hamer,Cook,Neves,Mendy

Thinking of doing Neves to Richarlison with exact money? I would then bench Wilson and play Richarlison. Or Mendy to Trippier and bench WB? Thanks guys

West Ham, Newcastle and Brighton have a great run of fixtures from gw10. Ryan would currently be the frontrunner. However, I'd continue monitoring those three teams until you're ready to pull the trigger.

With this defence and owning Salah and Haz as well as Kun

Going Mendy to Robertson doesn't make much sense to me. Mendy probably drops again tomorrow night and I would lose .1 sell value but surely worth waiting for pressers before Caribou on Monday I presume. .9 ITB

    Ederson Hamer

    Alonso Mendy WanB Bennett SCook.

I have my doubts that Pep will shine any more clarity on the injury. Tbh I'm not even sure that Mendy is injured.
If Pep is as vague as I expect him to be then Mendy will be gone for me this week!

So many factors. Had from start- do we just sits on price falls

This week is painful as if I dont replace him I got to play Bennett against Ings

Or WanB against Fraser and Wilson

        Annoying.

        Who is your proposed replacement?

        1. Moosie the Staggie
          • 14 Years
          7 years, 6 months ago

I really have no idea ATM.
I went 5 big defenders at the back from the start and it's served me well so far, but this was always the week where I would probably have to wildcard.
TTA, Robertson and Alonso in the same match has zero appeal to me.

Btw I would be tempted by Cook to TAA if I was in your position.
Hopefully Mendy is confirmed as fit on Monday and we don't have to worry any longer.

Sure if you can afford him, Kane is a better prospect for the next two gameweeks. I think Aguero is better value in the medium term, however.

Love Aguero but also love Harry. £11m is a lot for a rotation risk player who has his minutes managed. No doubting his quality but it counts for little if he's not on the pitch.

I'm not completely against selling him anymore but I'll almost certainly want him back in a few gameweeks so not sure it's worth the 2 transfers to get rid and then back in.

Could downgrade to a Pogba, Alli, Eriksen or similar and ugprade Wilson to Lacazette or someone like that. A little tempting but not something I'll probably go through with

Who would you get in his place and what would you do with the money?

To me, his underlying stats are great, he's about to play a gung-ho Chelsea that get done on the counter (just think of Alonso's average positioning). I'm pretty happy with the rest of my team and will hold off losing him for another week. He's still a fairly reliable captain and a big haul surely isn't too far away.

Salah, Mendy, D. Gray, Eriksen to Trippier, Hazard, Mane, Rich/Maddy (-8)?

Or is -8 too much as I don't like taking hits

I've got 5 players in 1 game next week.

    Bournemouth vs Palace.

Zaha, PVA, AWB, Fraser, Josh King.

What would you do in this situation, gents?

      it'll be a goal fest.

Perhaps move PVA on? He's not the same player of last season.

Duffy or Doherty are good replacement options.

Top10K here (2706 to be precise)... Part of me feels that everything's going great, so why change things? The other part feels that actually the season-defining move is when to bring in Kane and now's the time... So tempted to wildcard to get the Kane / Aguero tandem going. Would have to lose Salah to do it; but could keep Mane...

    Am I crazy?

Penalties are great but did he do anything to suggest he's going to get back to scoring form anytime soon?

I think it's crazy that he doesn't have anyone competing for his place. Expecting him to be your only striker all season is madness.

That's the easier move for sure, but terrified about dropping Aguero too. Aghhh... Normally I'm about 250K at this part of the season and perfectly happy to cruise along with some variant of the template...

I wildcarded before this gameweek. Should have gone for Kane instead of Lukaku. But I was a sheep and went with Lukaku. Your team looks really decent! No liverpool is a little worrying, but for the next couple of weeks your good without.

Idk, thin they will concede against BOU and think that Fellaini and TAA offer more attacking potential.

    Bench one:

    A) Fraser (CRY)
    B) Jimenez (SOU)
    C) Mane (che)
    D) Maddison (new)

Leaning towards D because of Newcastle's defensive style

If you're considering benching Mane, I suggest you sell him immediately.

      1. FC Hakkebøf

He is lowest on the list ofc. But I have thought of benching him. Away vs Chelsea is not the kindest fixture. Selling him is not an option with all the TV racked up. But would you answer the question instead?

        1. noquarternt
          • 10 Years
          7 years, 6 months ago

Away v Chelsea is the perfect fixture for Liverpool with their countering style and Chelsea's gung-ho attacks. We love Alonso for essentially being a striker, but that's also going to be catastrophic v Mane and Salah.

But yeah Maddison I guess, all good players to have in your squad though.
