In this article, we take a look at how the current top 10,000 teams in Fantasy Premier League shaped up for Gameweek 6.

First of all, it is important to note that we are still in the very early stages of the season and the ranks of the current top 10k managers fluctuate wildly from week to week.

As we can see from the above graphic, the difference between the top 10k and top 50k is just 20 points. Add another 11 points difference and you reach the top 100k. The margins, therefore, are still very tight and we shouldn’t be too concerned about our overall ranks at this juncture.

As for chip usage, 4.3% of managers in the top 10k used their Wildcard this week. This pushes the usage of the chip among this sample of FPL bosses to 48.38%, meaning that almost half of the top 10,000 managers’ wildcards have already been used.

As expected, the current top 10k managers have benefited from the use of more chips than the average overall. In a sample of 50,000 random managers, the total Wildcard use is just 27.23%.

However, there are still 42.5% of current top 10k teams who are yet to deploy a chip, which gives them a competitive edge at this point.

Onto team selection. Below is a team of the most-owned players in the top 10k:

One of the key things to notice is how the ownership of Mohamed Salah has been declining fast and he is now in just 34% of the sampled teams. His teammate, Sadio Mane, has more than double that ownership with almost 70%. In addition, Eden Hazard‘s ownership in the top 10k has spiked to 89.55%, a close second to Sergio Aguero who has 89.82%.

Aguero is also leading the captaincy stats in the top 10k as we see below:

Looking more into the Wildcard teams, with this being the chip most widely deployed in Gameweek 6, we see that the Wildcarders opted for some different picks than the most-owned players.

The main difference is the non-inclusion of Benjamin Mendy among the most-owned defenders due to his injury – Wildcarders instead went for cheap options like Matt Doherty and Ryan Bennett of Wolves.

Another key name not featuring in the “template” Wildcard team is Salah. Richarlison and James Maddison replace him, while, of course, Hazard is in practically every Wildcard team (94.65%).

To see which Premier League sides have made bigger contributions to the top 10k teams, we look at the following figure:

Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are the main sources for picks in the top 10k, with averages of 2.2, 2.1 and 2.0 players per FPL team. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace contribute 1.6 players per team – mostly Wilfried Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. There is also at least one (1.1) Bournemouth player in every top 10k team.

As for Wildcarders, those five aforementioned teams are still the top five sides to pick from, but with more distribution between them.

The number of Liverpool players remains the same, with Roberto Firmino and the Reds’ defenders replacing Salah, while the number of Manchester City players is decreasing in Wildcards from 2.2 to just 1.7; the absence of Mendy and the usual midfield rotation could be the main reasons for such a decline. On the rise though is the ownership of Crystal Palace (1.6 to 1.8), Bournemouth (1.1 to 1.2), Fulham (0.6 to 0.7) and Leicester (0.5 to 0.7) assets, as all enjoy decent fixtures in the coming weeks.

Guys is anyone of you guys doing betting on football? I've been doing it since I was 5(23 now).

Anyway whole my life I had the same luck. Playing parlays with low stakes and always being struck with (ONLY) one miss. It happens to me almost every freaking day and it's so bad and impossible for me (and others) to believe that I started an Instagram page where I post my one match misses daily. If you are interested you can type in vjecnipehist and see what I'm talking about.

Vjecni pehist means eternal bad luck guy haha

It's just a big part of me which makes me more interested in sport events, especially football. I don't think I am ever going to stop. Just have to find a way of making a living of all this knowledge, weather it's pure gambling, working for a bookie or some tipster it doesn't matter.

Yes, that's my only option to include Richarlison.

Don't you think that's an odd move though?

Bernardo is underrated and playing really well imo. Unfortunate to with his overall returns but exploded yesterday.

I'd stick with Kane, Kun & Jim mate, nice trio next few weeks then look at Arnie around 10/11

    2. jia you

both equally great options imo, depends on what you can do with the extra funds going with Mitro!

      1. Gussy
        • 10 Years
        7 years, 2 months ago

Extra funds will be held for a few weeks as my team is pretty much spot on right now (everyone is WCing to it) so I just want who will score the most points. In a few weeks I’ll probably WC too when fixtures change so the money will really be pointless, who scores more over the next 3 in your opinion?

        1. Joggers Nipple
          • 16 Years

      • 16 Years

Mitro, i know you said ignore price but the extra cash ( so other upgrades) is def important

      1. Gussy
        • 10 Years
        7 years, 2 months ago

        Hennessy 4.0
        TAA Alonso Trippier Laporte WB
        Salah Haz Mane Fraser Ward
        Kun Joselu Kamara

If I do Mane to Maddison or Richarlison I can do Joselu to either striker. I’ll probably end up WCing before I utilise the extra funds which is why they’re not important as I have no other upgrades to make honestly. Over the next three weeks I just need to transfer in whoever I think will score the most before I WC with fixture swings.
If it’s mitro then it’s mitro though (I’m leaning towards him too), thank you for the reply!

After benching Mahrez when he was 5.5 for way too long, I swore I’d never judge a player by his price. I’ve played WB on the field every week he’s been available because his stats were just as good as the 5m options. I think we’ve got maybe a few more weeks from palace assets until we need to shuffle them back to the bench but until then you’ve got to back the player with his form regardless of price

Just silly lyrics, I love the guy and hope it's just a couple weeks. I have actually had both types of fifth metatarsal injuries.. the bad bruise and the fracture.. I kind of wonder why we don't know definitively that its a bone bruise... sources all indicate it is, which is two or three weeks.. especially with the highly advanced therapy Man City or any pro team would have. If it's a fracture then it's 7-9 weeks.

I wildcarded last week so the team looks good, but I'm trying to find a player to sacrifice to take advantage of those 2 fixtures.
The most likely move I see would be ditching Mendy, if still out, for a TOT def, hopefully not one who gets rotated.

Hi, if on wc it is wise not included LIV defender for 2 tough fixtures? And asses them after.

    My draft defender
    Alonso, Trippier, Laporte, AWB, Bennett

    Thanks 🙂

    Just re-watching the breakfast club.

Az: "So Jonty you basically wildcarded for just 2 players - Mitrovic and Hazard."

Absolutely brilliant classic line for the ages. Likely to be as infamous as the "magic bean" one-liner.

Jonty banged on about wildcarding "from a position of strength" and he has wasted his Wildcard (as Wardale would say) to tinker around the edges of his team. Schoolboy error imo.

How are Hazard captainers feeling after yesterday's results?

Are you thinking you're ahead or behind of Aguero or Salah cappers?

Did you have the option to captain any of the above too, and if so, would you change it right now?

    1. seewhyaxe

Ahead actually. the 2 CP defenders really worked well in my favour. (I almost took a hit to remove Mendy)

Regardless how Hazard fares today, I should be getting a green arrow.

          Aguero is my VC.

I transferred Salah out for Hazard for the gw. That could work both ways but I have a longer term plan in mind for the extra funds. With the Salah drop today, that is a 0.2m value saved.

*Doffs cap* Excellent season you're having! I had the choice of all three to captain so I'm hoping by showing very little faith in the team I support and going ahead with captaining Hazard that it pays off...

Thanks! I believe I have a bit of luck in my first few gws hence started relatively well.

Hope Hazard hauls today, he is considered a 'differential' captain today i guess.

I was beginning to think just before the deadline that Aguero might be the better pick over Salah and Hazard. Having seen the City scoreline I think I've got away with it a bit there.
Just need a Hazard goal to top off the weekend but it isn't the end of the world if he blanks tbh...

        I'd be happy too tbh.
In my work mini league the top 3 have all gone different. 1st place captained Salah, I've captained Hazard and third has gone Aguero. Not sure I'd be happy with that return from a 5-0 scoreline that really could have been so much worse for us non-cappers :O

Help needed! Got 0.0 ITB and if I sell Mendy I only get 6.2m back for him at his current price of 6.4m.
Not knowing how long he’s out for us causing me problems. If I sell now and he’s back in a couple of weeks it’s unlikely his price will drop that much more and i’ll be able to buy him back. Am I right thinking this?
