In this article, we take a look at how the current top 10,000 teams in Fantasy Premier League shaped up for Gameweek 6.

First of all, it is important to note that we are still in the very early stages of the season and the ranks of the current top 10k managers fluctuate wildly from week to week.

As we can see from the above graphic, the difference between the top 10k and top 50k is just 20 points. Add another 11 points difference and you reach the top 100k. The margins, therefore, are still very tight and we shouldn’t be too concerned about our overall ranks at this juncture.

As for chip usage, 4.3% of managers in the top 10k used their Wildcard this week. This pushes the usage of the chip among this sample of FPL bosses to 48.38%, meaning that almost half of the top 10,000 managers’ wildcards have already been used.

As expected, the current top 10k managers have benefited from the use of more chips than the average overall. In a sample of 50,000 random managers, the total Wildcard use is just 27.23%.

However, there are still 42.5% of current top 10k teams who are yet to deploy a chip, which gives them a competitive edge at this point.

Onto team selection. Below is a team of the most-owned players in the top 10k:

One of the key things to notice is how the ownership of Mohamed Salah has been declining fast and he is now in just 34% of the sampled teams. His teammate, Sadio Mane, has more than double that ownership with almost 70%. In addition, Eden Hazard‘s ownership in the top 10k has spiked to 89.55%, a close second to Sergio Aguero who has 89.82%.

Aguero is also leading the captaincy stats in the top 10k as we see below:

Looking more into the Wildcard teams, with this being the chip most widely deployed in Gameweek 6, we see that the Wildcarders opted for some different picks than the most-owned players.

The main difference is the non-inclusion of Benjamin Mendy among the most-owned defenders due to his injury – Wildcarders instead went for cheap options like Matt Doherty and Ryan Bennett of Wolves.

Another key name not featuring in the “template” Wildcard team is Salah. Richarlison and James Maddison replace him, while, of course, Hazard is in practically every Wildcard team (94.65%).

To see which Premier League sides have made bigger contributions to the top 10k teams, we look at the following figure:

Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are the main sources for picks in the top 10k, with averages of 2.2, 2.1 and 2.0 players per FPL team. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace contribute 1.6 players per team – mostly Wilfried Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. There is also at least one (1.1) Bournemouth player in every top 10k team.

As for Wildcarders, those five aforementioned teams are still the top five sides to pick from, but with more distribution between them.

The number of Liverpool players remains the same, with Roberto Firmino and the Reds’ defenders replacing Salah, while the number of Manchester City players is decreasing in Wildcards from 2.2 to just 1.7; the absence of Mendy and the usual midfield rotation could be the main reasons for such a decline. On the rise though is the ownership of Crystal Palace (1.6 to 1.8), Bournemouth (1.1 to 1.2), Fulham (0.6 to 0.7) and Leicester (0.5 to 0.7) assets, as all enjoy decent fixtures in the coming weeks.

How to bring Hazard in this team?

    Fabianski Foster
    Alonso Robertson Pereira Wan-Bissaka Peltier
Salah Mane B. Silva Fraser Stephens
    Agüero Zaha Mitrovic

Wanted to make B. Silva and Mane -> Hazard and Richarlison. But B.Silva had a great game today.
I also shipped Pereira today in.

    Thank you!

Salah and Mane double up owners, what's the plan now?

I still have my wildcard, and after today's game (I haven't watched it, just took a glance at heat and shot maps in members area) I have a feel I should sell both before Chelsea and City.

    Your thoughts appreciated.

I want to ditch Mané for the next 3, and keep Salah. My WC will be active in GW10. I could bring back Mané at this point if he backfired.

Incredibly brave to double up on Liverpool in GW7, I'd have at least one and use the other place for a player who has a higher probability of returning decent points.

He got 3 points because spurs were keeping a clean sheet when he came off. Not because he played well.

Top 10K players using a WC transferred him out for GW6. I've done likewise however have premium defender placeholders any of who I can swap out if I need him to return quickly. If he is available next week, he's back. If he's available for the Liverpool GW7 I'd have to think twice about returning him then.

Considering these set of moves for later in the week. Which one looks better? Other options:

    Mendy and Pedro to:

    B) Trippier and Richarlison

Or keep Mendy and do Kamara and Pedro -> Mitro and Ward to revert back to a 343

    2. MafioSol
      • 12 Years
      7 years, 6 months ago

Depends. Alli is a gamble. Trippier is good however you can't trust Spurs at the moment. Richarlison, if you have a template set up most people would have say Maddison for GW6 as a placeholder for Richarlison. Would you still make that swap even though Maddison scored well this week and regardless of how Richarlison performs now? ...

On Andy's Let's Talk FPL, there was someone spamming the chat asking questions about a physio called Jenna Tulls. Couldn't understand why no one was replying, so I thought I would google it. Absolutely nothing.

I planned to switch Wilson for Vardy for the next gw but now it looks like Mendy is out longer than expected. My current team:

        Ederson - Hamer
        Alonso - Robertson - Mendy - Monreal - AWB
        Hazard - Mane - Walcott - Fraser - N. Mendy
        Aguero - Wilson - Jimenez

        What should I do?

        A) Switch Wilson to Vardy
        B) Switch Mendy to some other defender (Trippier?)
        C) Switch both and take -4

In this scenario, try you best to avoid hit.

Best Mendy replacement for the next 2 gw until I wildcard.. money not issue

Not into Trippier as I can see him go bench in 1 of this 2 games.

I was tempted by Trippier, thought I missed something then overtime happened in the Brighton game and their equaliser confirmed that Spurs players can't be trusted at the moment. I'd go for one of Robertson and TAA with Doherty looking appetising considering the way Wolves are playing at the mo.

Still have 3 key players that are yet to play. Could easily be a 80 pts week.
