Following the high in Gameweek 5, Eden Hazard was back to his usual self in Gameweek 6, blanking at West Ham.

He scored a brilliant goal against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, so you know what that means for Saturday’s league fixture against the same opponents. Another blank is on the way!

Is it time to board the Harry Kane train?

Quite a few FPL managers are itching to get Harry Kane in ahead of his next two fixtures: Huddersfield away and Cardiff at home (Wembley). He’s also the standout captaincy option for Gameweek 8 which is the big pull factor.

To get him this week, I’d have to lose Mohamed Salah. With two free transfers, I could switch Mo for Richarlison and get Kane for Callum Wilson which is very tempting, but I’d want Salah back for Gameweek’s 9 and 10 when he faces Huddersfield and Cardiff himself.

Moving to Kane from someone like Aubameyang or Lukaku is a lot easier.

I fancy Salah to deliver against Chelsea and Man City over the next two weeks. I’m leaning towards keeping him and using my transfers elsewhere to improve the overall strength of my squad.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is also high on my Watchlist. He’s outperforming Kane having scored five goals in the opening six matches. The Serbian is also second only to Aguero for goal attempts this season.

Jamie Vardy is another striker worth some consideration. Owned by just 4.1% of managers, Leicester have as good a run of fixtures as any team right up to Christmas. He gets a rest during international breaks and has no European football to worry about.

Maddison (£6.8m) vs Richarlison (£6.6m)

Lots of managers are having to choose between these two ahead of Gameweek 7. Both are excellent FPL options.

Maddison is like a mini-Eriksen (the difference being that he actually scores FPL points this year). He commands set pieces and tends to pick up bonus points when he delivers. He’s got Vardy ahead of him to finish the chances he creates.

Richarlison is the more explosive player. He performed well against Arsenal on his return from suspension registering four goal attempts. I can see him getting at least 15 goals this season.

He’s likely to join Maddison in my midfield by the time Saturday rolls around.

Pep Roulette

David Silva may be the player to make way for the Brazilian. There have been whispers this week that the Spaniard cannot play three games in a week. He played sixty-two minutes against Oxford United in midweek which is worrying for his owners ahead of this weekend’s Brighton tie.
Pep Guardiola’s men then travel to Germany next week to face Hoffenheim in the Champions League and play Liverpool at Anfield in Gameweek 8.

Silva may be wrapped in cotton wool this weekend with those fixtures in mind. Pep can afford to rest him with options such as Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gündogan, Riyad Mahrez and Leroy Sané all performing well. The City midfield is a minefield.

The Benjamin Mendy situation is a strange one. First, it was his knee, then his ankle, now it’s his metatarsal. Reading between the lines, it’s probably a disciplinary issue. He hasn’t tweeted since Saturday which is unusual for him. If there is no update on his availability by Friday night, he’ll be leaving my squad for Trippier or Doherty.

Good luck to all in Gameweek 7. Enjoy Super Saturday.

Mendy and Mane > Doherty and Hazard for -4 makes sense right?

No. Mane to Hazard seems like a sideways move at this point.

Depends on who comes in for Mendy but no doesn't look good to me. Maybe just Mendy to Doherty this week for free but see what Pep says tomorrow.

The desperate scaremongering from Trippier non-owners is hilarious. There's zero chance he doesn't start against Huddersfield after being rested midweek, regardless of Aurier being injured.

Think it is more the fact he might not play next week after Barcelona.

That's a possibility for sure, I'm talking about the people saying he won't play against Huddersfield. That's just nonsense.

I think it is 60/40 he plays. Play KWP against Hudds. Then Tripps against Barca and Cardiff. Then fake an injury to get out of England duty.

Or play the next two and miss Cardiff with an "injury" to keep him away from England

This is much more likely. No way he doesn't play this weekend.

Don't be so sure, Poch has surprised us before.
It makes sense to have a fresh Trippier vs Barca, while TOT shouldn't find it hard to beat HUD without him.
Why risk him in an easy match, knowing that if he gets injured there's no other replacement for such a huge midweek match?

      2. I Member

Where's the logic in this? Give Trippier a week and a half off to save him for the home game against Cardiff, by far the worst team in the league?

Also don't get why people are acting like fit professional footballers in their prime can't play 3 games in the week. This isn't the same as David Silva. He's much older and City have a wealth of options in midfield.

        1. Mysterion
          • 8 Years
          7 years, 6 months ago

Of course they can, it's just that Poch is more likely to do this with his full backs than other managers, hence the speculation/scaremongering/whatever you'd call it

            • 11 Years

Poch has always had two great options when he has rotated. KWP is an inexperienced youngster.

And Cardiff at home is a great chance to build on that experience 😛

Not saying it's a given, just that the risk is there. Besides, Aurier might be fit by then...

Just did this move. Rationale is that Richarlison is likely to match or outperform Salah soley on the home game from FUL. Proactive with Kane. IMO this is the calm before the storm - I understand he hasnt been the greatest but he is still tied for the third best score amongst strikers in FPL and we are not buying previous performances, we are buying for Kane's potential to explode over the next 3 games.

      Fortune favors the brave!

        B. Doherty (have Patricio)

        A would mean Salah to Haz next gw;
B helps me do Mane to Haz next gw.
        Will WC gw9.

        Thoughts?

Some reports think Sterling will be rested and replaced with Mahrez. Worth shipping out or risk him not playing?

I have a half decent bench but thinking could swap for Sane esp. as 2 million cheaper.

If not Sane maybe Son as he has 2 juicy fixtures coming up.

I’m boycotting all Man City midfielders, far too stressful.

Swapping Sterling for Sane because you are scared of rotation seems a bit... odd.

Sane 2 million cheaper and will play as long as Mendy out (which I think he will be).

Also, been looking for excuse to lose Sterling as will need money to bring back Salah in few weeks.

Not sure the first part is true but if you believe it then go for it 🙂

I've just avoided them all now, just get someone like Richarlison in and pocket the 4.5m.

“... Sane 2 million cheaper and will play as long as Mendy out ...”. Careful. Pep doesn’t necessarily have to play wide.

Anyone else wonder how successful they'd be in their career if we didn't spend about 3 hours a day in work on this site?

Add to that the meetings I am in for up to 2 hours where while everyone else is concerned about customer service, all I can think of is if Sterling is nailed on at home to Brighton 🙂

Reading this post, I stopped to think about the impact on my career, but my mind quickly wandered to my Bench order this week

Arsenal have done some great business with Ramsey there. Bit like when we sold Barkley for £15m and bought Siggurdsson for £50

Is my team good to go for this weekend? Will be carrying a FT over & still have my WC intact.

        Schmeichel
        Robertson / Shaw / Alonso
        Salah / Mane / Pogba / Fraser
        Aguero / King / Arnie

        Hamer / AWB / Stephens / Peltier

        What about
        Eriksen+Agüero
        to
        Kane+Maddison

        good move?

Ramsey apparently set to leave Arsenal after contract negotiations broke down. Would expect Mkhi to become first teamer very soon then. No point wasting time to get Ramsey gelling if hes not part of long term plans.

Richarlison and Maddison are better, Schurrle.

Aguero to start vs Huds and be subbed off early as well. Need him 100 percent fit vs Liverpool
