We have updated the Watchlist after the events of Gameweek 7.

The biggest changes see some budget options at the back make their way into the goalkeeper and defender sections.

We’ve gone over the changes we’ve made to those areas of the Watchlist in this article, with midfielders and forwards to come later in the week.

Goalkeepers

Based mostly on fixtures, Alisson (£5.6m) has finally moved above Ederson (£5.6m). The two shot-stoppers will face each other in Gameweek 8 before Liverpool have two appealing fixtures against Huddersfield and Cardiff. Meanwhile, Manchester City follow-up their trip to Anfield with a home match against Burnley and an away day at Tottenham.

Over the next six fixtures, neither goalkeeper can support any fixture factors, either good or bad. We’ve also dropped Alisson down to a B for form as he has kept just one clean sheet in his last four matches. He also ranks 10th for form among goalkeepers on the official FPL app.

Rui Patrício (£4.5m), David De Gea (£5.9m) stay where they are on the list but their factors change slightly. The Wolves man retains an A for form but loses Favourable Fixtures. That’s because Tottenham and Arsenal are coming up in the next six. Meanwhile, De Gea and Manchester United receive similar treatment as they have to travel to Chelsea, Bournemouth and Man City. Kasper Schmeichel (£5.0m) keeps his place in sixth.

Bernd Leno (£4.8m) comes in for the injured Petr Cech (£5.0m). Arsenal have now kept two clean sheets on the bounce and continue to have decent fixtures. He keeps the place Cech held, just above Joe Hart (£4.5m), who was unable to add to his clean sheet count against Cardiff.

Mat Ryan (£4.5m) is a new addition to the watchlist. He comes on with a C for form but a Favourable Fixtures factor. No side ranks higher for defence on our Season Ticker over the next six Gameweeks than Brighton.

Wayne Hennessey (£4.6m) is coming to the end of his time on the Watchlist with some very difficult fixtures on the horizon. Martin Dubravka (£5.0m) remains bottom of the pile, but still in the conversation with Newcastle’s upcoming favourable fixtures.

Defenders

Marcos Alonso (£6.9m), Kieran Trippier (£6.2m) and Andrew Robertson (£6.3m) remain unchanged as the top three among defenders. The Spurs man keeps a rotation risk factor until we know about the injury to Serge Aurier (£5.8m).

Meanwhile, Matt Doherty (£4.5m) creeps above Aymeric Laporte (£5.6m) after a second double-figure haul of the season in Gameweek 7. He looks a more attacking option than the Frenchman, who remains our chosen Man City asset based on the fact that he is the only defender to have played every minute so far this season. With the aforementioned changes to Patrício, neither of these two options has a fixture-related factor.

Set piece takers Luke Shaw (£5.1m) and Jose Holebas (£4.9m) come next. The Man United man has a favourable fixture in Gameweek 8, while Watford’s Greek left-back faces a favourable run of games between now and Gameweek 12. Ben Chilwell (£5.0m) is still worth considering with Leicester ranked second for defence over the next six Gameweeks on our Season Ticker.

Then we have two new entries. The first is Shane Duffy (£4.5m), with Brighton currently top of the Season Ticker for defence over the next six Gameweeks. The centre-back also has two goals and two assists to his name so far this season. The other new face on the list is Everton left-back Lucas Digne (£4.8m). The former Barcelona man is joint-top with Doherty and Holebas for chances created among defenders over the last four Gameweeks.

As with Dubravka, DeAndre Yedlin (£4.5m) sits at the bottom of the list waiting for Newcastle’s fixture-swing to complete itself after a Gameweek 8 trip to Old Trafford.

Despite his popularity, Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£4.3m) moves off the list. That’s because his fixtures are set to stiffen up, and he no longer provides as much value as earlier in the season. The Crystal Palace man has risen to £4.3m, so does not open up quite as much room in Fantasy squads as before, and with Arsenal (home), Chelsea (away), Tottenham (home) and Man United (away) four of the next six fixtures, he is likely to be benched by anyone who does own him.

Looking to own Salah for the first time this season.

How does this look using 2FT for GW9?

    Aguero + B.Silva -> Jiminez + Salah

Leaves me with the following team for GW9

    Patricio
    Doherty Azpilicueta Robertson
    Salah Maddison Mane Richarlison Hazard
    King Jiminez

    Foster Zaha Tomkins Wan- Bissaka

All depends on Aguero. I think we can all agree Aguero over Kane if they both played the same minutes. However, depends what the CL brings him. If he plays 70 minutes each week id prefer to have him over Kane.

Mandzukic for me vs Young Boys over Lewa (have both), he scored brace at the weekend vs Napoli so form is there, think fixture is even easier that Bayern vs Ajax also Bayern just lost 2-0 to Hertha and drew with Augsburg 1-1 the game before, Juve won last 7 or 8 i think? I've tripled up on Juve with Mandzukic, Pjanic and Alex Sandro.

      1. FC Hakkebøf
        • 9 Years
        7 years, 6 months ago

Mandzukic is usually not that explosive. I agree he could be as good a pick as Lewa, but I think Neymar edges them both in terms of explosiveness. If he is to chase the ballan d'or, a fair share of the CL goals is required. And what better team to do it against than Beograd?

        1. Krafty Werks
          • 11 Years
          7 years, 6 months ago

Yes i agree, Neymar or Cavani in current form probably way to go but i don't have either and i'm not taking Messi out for a hit no way, especially not after his hattie last CL fixture. If Mandzukic doesn't bag decent points will prob switch to Messi matchday 2 even vs Spurs who need a win...good luck 😉

Hi I decided to use Free Hint this week what u think about this ?
    Hennesy
    Alonso/Tripier/Pereira
    Hazard/Gudmundsson/Ramsey/Moura
    Kane/Vardy/Lacazett

I`m 50/50 on using it too.
      My thoughts:

      - Palace won`t keep clean-sheet, they play terrible and Wolves play very solid both attacking and defensive.
      - Leicester and Everton can be goal fest too, why Lei def?
      - Ramsey hardly get any points, alternatives? (Maddison, Ozil)

Other than that - good choices.

Not the right week to play FH imo.

City / Liverpool should be a goalfest. Avoiding their attacking assets is not the way to go imo. Better time to use FH at later stages.

With Aurier out until after IB do you expect Trippier to play Cardiff game or does Walker- Peters come in? As going into IB there seems no reason to rest Trippier unless of course due to injury.

Think Trippier will play. Poch can't really afford to rest more first teamers with all the injuries they have.

Great point. No way hes benching Trippier too when half the first team is out already.

Good question. I think they will need quality so he will play.

I think Trippier will play a lot of games in the upcoming future and not be rested before Aurier returns. He is a young lad, he can handle it. Overthinking on the subject is not a good ide. Just make sure you have a decent bench to cover in case he is rested.

Not for a hit. BSilva could do well against Liverpool.

Ok guys, Just thinking... which would you prefer?
    A. Mane, Aguero, Jiminez. 0.4itb
    B. Mane, Vardy, Mitrovic. 1.6 itb
    C. Salah, Wilson, Mitrovic. 1.3itb
*All three have KDB and Arnie.

      A

Salahs price is just way to high compared to Aguero. Aguero is also on point at the moment (in the goals), which Salah is not. I don't understand the hazzle to bring in Salah at the moment (Im a pool fan). I think Mane will 'cover' --> hate that word - enough attacking returns from liverpool.

Aint covering sh*t. Salah is unlucky but tearing up stats and will massacre hud + car. Avoid at your own peril.

I feel that this list is missing Morgan (4.5) and Zabaletta (4.3) as cheap enablers with good fixtures.

    CL

Best captain pick this week? I'm playing a domestic game, where you can't switch between your captains. Currently between Neymar/Cavani/Mbappe (needs a transfer in) and Lewandowski

Probably capping Jesus today, but if Jesus doesn nothing today, who would you put the armband on?
    A)Suarez
    B)Messi
    C)Mane

Pick someone from tonight's games first. Who do you have?

Pool and Barca away to Napoli and Spurs, won't be goalfests. Messi of those you have tomorrow. 2 FT so maybe swap Suarez to Manzukic and captain him tonight?

      1. Differential C (Mark)
        • 10 Years

A lot actually, but not Captain material, I fear. Sancho, Matic, Kimmich, Walker, Florenzi

Even if they're unlikely to be hitters you've nothing to lose by picking one of them as you can switch captain after today's games. I just checked mine and Bale, my captain, is out. Captaining Cancelo tonight.

Loving my team atm. Think I might break my season's first century of points this week.

    Patricio
Alonso Doherty Trippier / WB TAA
Hazard Son Maddison Richarlison / Hojbjerg
    (K)ane Laca Mitrovic

    1FT, 0.5m itb

Most likely going to do Kane + Son > Arnie + Salah after Cardiff

Can't believe you brought Kane in on a WC and still chose to captain Richarlison.

But team looks solid this week. Not sure you feel like removing Kane if he scores a brace this weekend.

I know, it seemed like quality risk management at the time. Everton Fulham just wasn't the game I thought it would be.
