We have updated the Watchlist after the events of Gameweek 7 and midweek matches.

Raheem Sterling is the biggest name among the new additions in midfield, while James Maddison has risen considerably.

We’ve gone over the changes we’ve made to those areas of the Watchlist in this article, with goalkeepers and defenders covered earlier this week.

Midfielders

Eden Hazard (£11.1m) and Mohamed Salah (£12.9m) remain the top two midfield options. The Chelsea man is an easy one to keep at the summit with six goals and two assists in his first seven appearances of the campaign. The fixtures have become more positive for Hazard once more with Southampton, Burnley, Crystal Palace and Everton four of his next six opponents.

Meanwhile, Favourable Fixtures returns to Salah’s entry. They face Manchester City and Arsenal in the next six Gameweeks but also go up against Huddersfield, Cardiff, Fulham and Watford. However, just one attacking return in the last four Gameweeks has forced us to drop Salah’s form to B.

Raheem Sterling (£11.1m) takes the place of Man City colleague David Silva (£8.5m) after a string of consistent starts and FPL points-scoring. The England man has registered either a goal or an assist in all but one of his Premier League appearances in 2018/19. Furthermore, he has missed just one match, the Gameweek 2 thrashing of Huddersfield Town. Meanwhile, Silva has missed two league outings thus far, played 90 minutes midweek and has two attacking returns this season. Even though Sterling is in better form than Salah, he stays below the Liverpool man on account of Sergio Aguero.

Sadio Mané (£9.9m) stays in fourth place despite a dip in form. That is largely on account of Liverpool’s fixtures swinging back to some more favourable opponents. The fact that he is still £2.8m cheaper than Salah is still a key advantage for him.

James Maddison (£6.9m) has emerged as the standout candidate among mid-priced midfielders. Leicester City are currently second for attack over the next six Gameweeks on our Season Ticker with very favourable fixtures on the horizon. Furthermore, Maddison tops the charts for chances created over the last four Gameweeks, adding 12 shots into the mix – as many as Harry Kane.

Gameweek 7 produced the second blank in a row for Ryan Fraser (£6.0m), which almost saw him slip below Richarlison (£6.7m). However, we opted to keep the Scot above the Brazilian. Richarlison is also without an attacking return in the last two weeks and faces slightly tougher fixtures over the next six. Both players face four favourable opponents and two unfavourable between now and Gameweek 13. The crucial difference is that Bournemouth’s difficult fixtures are both at home, while Everton’s are away. Richarlison edges Fraser for shots in the last four appearances, but the Bournemouth man is well clear on chances created and is cheaper too.

Below that, there is no change with Lucas Moura (£7.4m), Paul Pogba (£8.2m), Anthony Knockaert (£5.5m) and Andre Schürrle (£5.9m) propping up the midfield section of the Watchlist.

Forwards

Sergio Aguero (£11.4m) is not moving from the top of the pile for forwards. The Man City man has had more shots than any other player in the last four Gameweeks despite having his minutes managed. That tells us that when the international break gives him time to get over this minor knock, he’ll be fit and firing with some favourable fixtures. The fact that Aguero played 90 minutes in the Champions League has pros and cons. The positive is that he is clearly able to last a whole game once again, although the worry is that it might increase his rotation risk. However, given that the Gameweek 8 trip to Liverpool is Man City’s biggest match of the season thus far, we’d expect him to keep his place at Anfield.

We’ve seen nothing to discourage us from proclaiming Aleksandar Mitrovic (£7.0m) as the best forward in his price bracket. He continues to be the Premier League’s second-keenest shooter behind only Aguero and still has favourable fixtures on the horizon.

Alexandre Lacazette (£9.5m) holds off Harry Kane‘s (£12.5m) charge up the rankings thanks to his better long-term fixtures and cheaper price. The Arsenal man faces the woeful Fulham defence next before Leicester and Wolves come to the Emirates Stadium and they visit Bournemouth. Their one tricky match-up is a Gameweek 11 home match against Liverpool. Meanwhile, Kane has Man City and Chelsea between now and Gameweek 13, with three trips to tough defences in West Ham (who have the third-best defence in the last four Gameweeks), Wolves and Crystal Palace too. Furthermore, Lacazette has created more chances than Kane across the last four matches, registered more shots, and is only two behind when those are filtered by whether they were in the penalty box.

Raúl Jiménez (£5.6m) sneaks above Romelu Lukaku (£11.0m) this week. The two players have travelled in different directions in terms of form. The Wolves man has three attacking returns in as many matches, while Lukaku has blanked in two supposedly favourable fixtures. Jiménez has more attractive fixtures long-term, and at just £5.6m is more bench-able for Gameweek 11 and 12 meetings with Spurs and Arsenal than Lukaku is for Gameweek 9 and 12 trips to Chelsea and Man City.

In fact, the Manchester United man also drops below Jamie Vardy (£8.9m). The Leicester man has been outperforming Lukaku for underlying statistics and has outscored him in the last two Gameweeks too at a cheaper price. Vardy suffers a little from the form of Leicester colleague Maddison but remains a good option.

Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m) comes into the equation having registered three attacking returns in as many Gameweeks. He stays just below Lukaku considering the Man United man has had double his shots in the last four weeks of the campaign. However, Arnautovic is another forward to go above Callum Wilson (£6.3m). The Bournemouth man has been regressing slowly this season and has had exactly half the number of penalty box touches as Arnautovic from Gameweek 4 onwards.

Glenn Murray (£6.5m) creeps back onto the Watchlist at the expense of Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m). This one is entirely on account of fixtures. While Brighton’s have swung to put them top of our Season Ticker for the next six Gameweeks, Crystal Palace have sunk to the bottom. The Eagles face Arsenal (home), Chelsea (away), Tottenham (home) and Man United (away) between Gameweek 10 and 13.

I'm a bit surprised that there's so little talk about Vardy. The next 3 fixtures are the most perfect fixtures Vardy can get through the season. Everton, Arsenal and West Ham are all ambitious teams that fail in execution. Vardy has 4 goals and 3 assists in 5 games against Everton, 6 goals in 6 games against Arsenal, and 2 goals and 3 assists in 7 games against West Ham.

yeah I'm kinda put off by his immediate fixtures, and really like the look of Lacazette (this week especially), but you're probably right

that being said, I'd think most people are not mentioning him much because they want Kane/Aguero, Mitro/Arnie and already have someone like Ings, so 9/9.5 is a difficult price to get to

Arnie, Vardy, Agüero. A sweet combination of value, consistency and explosiveness. I'll be running those three from this week on I reckon.

yeah sounds good, no chance I'm removing Mitro before his next 3/4 though. I think Lacazette can match Aguero personally, said it a few weeks ago, but I've not actually backed that thought with a transfer yet.

He’s priced a but awkwardly given everyone has 1 or 2 cheap striker to go along with Kane/Aguero.

Probably for those who are on wildcard he could be a good option. But tbh Mitro & Arnie available for 2m less can match his output easily and Maddison also at 2m less can cover Leicester’s fixtures.

yeah this - I have Arnie & Mitro so I'm contemplating Aguero -> Laca (c) this week, but that could go wrong next week

Aguero + 2 Forwards @ 7m or under is the way to go. Mitro, Arnie, Jimenez all offer superb value and Maddison is nicely covering the Leicester attack

          Alonso, Robertson, Trippier, PVA, AWB
          Salah, Fraser, Richarlison, Hoijberg, Stephens
          Aguero, Mitrovic, King
1 FT and 5.1 in the bank.

I can't get it Kane or Haz easily in 1 transfer as i want to hold Aguero so it looks like it will be a 4 point hit. Thinking of brining in both for Salah and King. Potentially will want Salah back though so its tough. Any help appreciated.

Anyone familiar with Paddy Power's 'Beat the Drop'?

Which is more likely would you say, given the Arsenal line up today.

Are they more likely to be:

          1) Leading at half time
          2) Drawing or losing

I have to wager a chunk of £1000 (not mine, its an offer they are running) and then if I'm correct I take that through to the next round.

Tempted to play a mini WC (3 transfers, -4) over the break and end up with:

          Patricio (Hamer)
          Alonso - Robertson - Mendy - TAA - Shaw
Hazard - Mane - KDB - Knockaert (Stephens)
          Aguero - Arnie - Ings

A bit different but 9 good players from City, Pool and Chelsea while still having the WC in my pocket. If Mendy/KDB aren't back by that point then I'd just keep AWB and get Sterling instead.

All full backs so there is bound to be the odd rotation. Think bench strength is going to be key going forward especially if you're full back dominant.

Agree that the defence might be a bit OTT. I'm actually reasonably happy with my current one (Alonso-Robertson-Shaw-AWB-Bennett). But TAA with the fixture swing and Mendy returning will be tempting.

The thing I like about the premium full backs is that they're always in with a shot on a CS plus also the odd attacking returns. Over the season they will IMO outscore the mid priced inconsistent duds like Richarlison, Fraser etc. I'm always late to those kind of bandwagons so figured I might skip them all and go for a premium defence instead.

You may be right about full backs. I've been doing the same too-late moves on Rich/Fraser, plus trying to rotate Ings with 5 midfielders inc Pedro injury, and hasn't really worked - just been lucky with bench points.

Some are saying that PVA and Zaha could limit Doherty going forwards but Palace will have to adjust to playing against a 3-5-2

Will be a massive game in fpl terms!

              Please pick 1:

              a) aguero >>> kane (c)

              b) richarlison >>> Hazard (c)

option a) would be for 1 week only
option b) would mean getting richarlison back in a few weeks for fraser.

I can do option a or b with my free transfer.

              Appreciate yer thoughts guys.

Argentina play away to Iraq on Oct 11th and Brazil on the 16th. Much risk of this affecting Aguero's game time for City v Burnley on the 20th ?

He's not in the squad. The biggest risk with Aguero is that he could go to concerts in Holland during the break.

Any changes you would do here?

              Kepa
              Alonso, Doherty, Robbo, AWB,
              Salah, Hazard, Richarlison
              Aguero, King, Zaha

              Bench: Hamar, Billing, Stephens, Peltier.

I've got King and Zaha too and wondering whether or not bringing Arnie/Mitro in this week is worth it. Zaha is probably going for me in the next couple of weeks when his fixtures get bad, but not sure exactly when. King is frustrating, if he was still on the pitch this week he could have easily got 9 points, but he rarely looks like scoring from open play. Rest of the team looks good to go for this week.

I was surprised to hear how many hits he’s willing to take and seemed to say in the season he finished top 100 he was even more aggressive with transfers

I’ve been trying to take a steadier approach this season but I’m still always itching to make transfers!

I'm guessing it's the aggresive moves and flexibility with hits that got him up from the top 1k-5k to the 100... check this out https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/18852040

Must have on a free hit? May regret playing it but my team is quite primed for it.

                Hart
                Luiz Shaw Trip
                Haz Lamela Rambo Knock
                Kane (C) Lacazette Lukaku

How’s that look? Or do I go Lukaku > Vards/Arny and improve Knock/Luiz?

I think Lamela is the pick of the Spurs mids.
