Spot the Differential – Opportunity for FPL managers to board Vardy bandwagon early

Aside from all the talk about Harry Kane, there are still several differential options available in Gameweek 8.

We’ve picked out three more players owned by less than 5% of Fantasy Premier League managers who can help propel you up the overall rankings.

This week we are turning to assets at Leicester City, Wolves and Manchester United.

Jamie Vardy (£8.9m)

Ownership: 4.8%

A Gameweek 2 sending off and the success of James Maddison (£6.9m) has hit Jamie Vardy‘s (£8.9m) ownership hard in the early part of 2018/19. But the Leicester City man is still a great option to own for Gameweek 8.

In the last four Gameweeks, only four players have registered more shots on target than Vardy. He also ranks joint-third for shots inside the box and is still on penalties for Leicester City.

His next opponents are an Everton side still with just one clean sheet to their name in 2018/19. Vardy is especially fond of the Toffees having scored four times and assisted twice in his last five Premier League matches against them. In that run, he has won two penalties, scoring two himself.

Vardy looks like a good option for long-term investment too with Arsenal (away), West Ham (home), Cardiff (away), Burnley (home) and Brighton (away) also coming up in the next six Gameweeks.

Adama Traoré (£5.5m)

Ownership: 0.6%

Adama Traoré (£5.5m) may not have started a match for Wolves yet, but he is certainly pushing for one. The rapid winger has promised attacking returns if he can get some more minutes on the pitch.

In the last four Gameweeks, Traore has managed five shots on target, the same as Sergio Aguero (£11.4m) and Mohamed Salah (£12.9m). He has achieved that in a fraction of the minutes, registering just 105 to Aguero’s 271 and Salah’s 317.

Wolves go to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace in Gameweek 8 and look like they will have plenty of opportunities to score. Only two sides have allowed more chances considered to be ‘big’ by Opta in home matches than Palace this season.

Chris Smalling (£5.8m)

Ownership: 2.2%

Any Manchester United player is going to be considered a differential for Gameweek 8 after their surprise defeat to West Ham last week.

However, the nature of their upcoming fixture demands some attention from Fantasy managers.

Newcastle United come to Old Trafford with just one away goal to their name this season. Furthermore, they have the lowest shot tally on the road in 2018/19 and are in the bottom efforts on target too.

A clean sheet looks on for Chris Smalling (£5.8m) and his United colleagues, and the centre-back promises some attacking threat too.

The Magpies are in the bottom three for set play attempts allowed away from home so far this season, and Smalling has already found the net once in 2018/19.

    Help please....
Would you sell Aubameyang to Kane for -4 now that he's a doubt?
Have a horrible feeling he'll score heavy at Fulham if fit to play....

Laca is the main man for Arsenal at the moment.

      Biased Lacazette owner.

Same reason I've held onto him all season. Every week I keep saying "this is your last chance mate" and every week I bottle out of transferring him out.

But thinking now maybe just leave him in for the long run, just because class is permanent. Thinking 'give him another 4 games' and if he's still stranded on the wing v LIV and not delivering then he's got to be out.

Kind of pointless at this stage... i can see the draw of Kane (c) for a one week punt but Hazard could easily blank and Salah brace... plus you’ll probably want Salah back for HUD

Save your free hit until the gameweeks where there are only 4 or 5 matches on and half your team would not be playing

    Ederson
    AWB Shaw Alonso
    Salah Maddison Fraser Richarlison
    Wilson Kun Kane (C)

    Bettinelli TAA Bennett Ward

    0 itb 1 FT

Save? Or just do Ederson >> Ryan
To follow his kind fixtures until December?
The money will be used to upgrade Wilson to Arnie in this near future

Where are all the transfers wasted?
Well I think outside of wonder captain picks and the obvious lack of game education, wasted transfers must account for more poor rankings than anything else.
It has been interesting to hear how the experts have have gone about their business over the years and if something rings true over all the podcasts, mistakes are inevitable, reducing them is key.
Differentials don;t pay, getting TV is important early on, using a wildcard when needed rather than expected, taking hits to reduce damage rather than clime the ladder; all these and more create a foundation being 250K or 1K.
Well there was a hot topic today on the subject that should have been an article in itself. He reckons coming in 100 0r 100k is luck driven.
Our guest today was a good listen too. Pointing out mundane questions like Richi Maddi Kane better than Mane Maddi Laca. Who the hell could know without the team structure.
Well I have always concentrated on ML's and sacrificing points to cover rivals has been my choice, I came 967 a few tears ago and just playing my normal game would have given me a top 100 spot. I enjoyed the money more than the accolades,
I wish al, well this year and I intend to keep eye candy at the top of my list for choices.
BUT NOT WASTING TFRS IS MY LESSON LEARNED TODAY.

I'm a Liverpool fan and have watched every minute of him this season, he just does not look the same player yet so willing to go without for a few weeks. Does this OK for 2FT?

    Salah + Ings > Kane + Knockaert

    leaving me with:

    Bego
    Alonso Robertson Trippier
    Hazard Moura Maddison Knockaert
    Kun Kane Wilson

    AWB Bennett Hojbjerg

      2FT, 0.3 ITB

      Hennesey (Foster)
      Alonso Doherty Holebas Robertson (AWB)
      Hazard Mané Richarlison (Fraser) (Ward)
      Agüero Mitrovic Lacazette

      No idea what to do.

      Maybe

      Richarlison > Maddison?
Robertson > TAA to bank some cash and roll 2FT for next week?
Hennesey has bad fixtures coming up but Foster should easily cover them

        Damn, good team.

Ward > Elneny to save the £0.2m lol

Robertson > TAA not a bad idea.

On top of the £1.0m saved, TAA could go up £0.2m over the international break

Yeah good call on the fodder downgrade! Seems like there's no obvious way to improve this squad. I'd pick Puncheon over Elneny for part nostalgia, part "you might end up wanting 3 Arsenal players" reasons

Play either Boly or Wan - B?

You reckon Wan-B over Chilwell? I see wolves scoring.

Double Wolves defence as paid off massive a couple times this season. Palace yet to score at home. I’m tempted with double Wolves + Boly huge threat from set pieces.

      1FT before next week wildcard.

      Meaning one week punt:

      I could:

      (A) Fabianski + £1.5m ITB ------> Lloris or anyone goalie
      (B) Robertson + £1.5m ITB -------> Trippier or any def
      (C) Salah ----> Any mid (but would lose the £0.1m permanently)

I'm currently holding on to Kolasinac and Bailly in my draft team. Yedlin and Cedric currently up for grabs. Think it's worth the swap or hold on for another week? Also could look at swapping Bertrand.
