Without wishing to put a hex on the midday clash at Craven Cottage, there ought to be goals and plenty of them in west London as Fulham take on Arsenal.

These are two somewhat suspect defences. Coming into Gameweek 7, the hosts had conceded more attempts in the box, shots on target and big chances than any Premier League side, and had conceded the joint-highest number of league goals (16). Slavisa Jokanovic’s side have also yet to register a clean sheet since their return to the top flight.

While Arsenal come into this fixture off the back of successive clean sheets, the Gunners conceded more big chances in Gameweeks 6 and 7 than any other Premier League club.

The Arsenal team news will raise a few eyebrows. While Bernd Leno (£4.8m) in for the injured Petr Cech (£5.0m) was anticipated, Unai Emery has made three other alterations to his starting XI – all of them in the attacking midfield positions behind Alexandre Lacazette (£9.6m).

Aaron Ramsey (£7.4m) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.7m), who had been minor doubts before the match due to personal circumstances and illness respectively, drop to the bench, while Mesut Ozil (£8.3m) misses out altogether with a back spasm.

Into the Gunners’ side come Alex Iwobi (£5.5m), Danny Welbeck (£6.5m) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (£6.9m), who gets his first league start since Gameweek 3.

Fulham’s two changes are both enforced: injured pair Joe Bryan (£4.9m) and Timothy Fosu-Mensah (£4.5m) are replaced by Cyrus Christie and Maxime Le Marchand (both £4.3m).

If Slavisa Jokanovic has sent his side out in a 4-2-3-1, as he did last weekend against Everton, then Christie and Le Marchand will likely line up at full-back in the absence of their sidelined team-mates.

The Cottagers could, however, potentially be lined up in the 3-4-3 formation Jokanovic trialled in the Carabao Cup tie against Millwall in September, with Le Marchand featuring at centre-back and Christie deployed as a wing-back on the opposite side to Ryan Sessegnon (£6.1m).

Aleksandar Mitrovic (£7.0m) is by far the most-owned player on show at Craven Cottage today, sitting in 27% of FPL squads.

Fulham XI (4-2-3-1): Bettinelli; Christie, Odoi, Ream, Le Marchand; Seri, Zambo Anguissa; Vietto, Schurrle, Sessegnon; Mitrovic.

Arsenal XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Bellerin, Holding, Mustafi, Monreal; Torreira, Xhaka; Mkhitaryan, Iwobi, Welbeck; Lacazette.

sooo.. on course for my worst gw this season

how far am I likely to drop do we think?

presume, comfortably out of top 50k - current rank 19k

26 points (mitrovic playing, alonso and hazard to go)

I'm on 37 with the same players to go... I think we need Alonso to haul, mitrovic goal and some quirky goalscorers later in the mci v lpool match. Haz is too highly owned and captained so prefer him not to go mad...

    Patricio - (Fabianski)
    Alonso - TAA - Doherty - (Lascelles) - (AWB)
    Salah - Hazard - KDB - Richarlison - (Billing)
    Arnautovic - Mitrovic - Wilson

I have tried to pick a defence that are BAPS monsters. Lascelles is the Newcastle BAPS guy in defence and has threat at corners. I think we are all aware of AWB's BAPS potential and he rotates well with Lascelles.

KDB is the one I can change. I can get Sterling with 0.0 ITB left over.

Pretty nice. Not a huge fan of Wilson personally - he is a good option but I just think Bou are going to slow up considering their tough fixtures.

Also not a fan of rotating keepers - Id just play Patricio and invest the 0.5 elsewhere.

          Overall I like it.

King vs Wilson is a decision for me. Or do I go Aguero and downgrade KDB?

The rotating GKs I generally agree with, but over the next 7, the reverse fixtures are TOT lei TOT ars MCI new CHE, so happy to rotate up to then at least

Looking at page 1 of 17 in the Statistics section of the official FPL website, it contains the 30 top scoring players - only five of them are the 'big hitters.'
My question is, with all this talk about whether to own Salah, Kane, etc., do you actually need to own any of them? Is talk of such players being 'essential' really just hot air?
        Just putting it out there...

        1. diesel001
          • 9 Years
          7 years, 6 months ago

You need to factor in the value of captaincy. Look at the big hitters who have hauled (10+ pts this season) - Aguero, Kane, Sterling, Hazard etc.

          1. MikeBravo
            • 7 Years
            7 years, 6 months ago

Just scanning down, Alonso, Wilson, Doherty, Sigurdsson, Trippier have all gained more than one double digit return so far...

              • 7 Years
              7 years, 6 months ago

Picking these as captains requires a bit more skill(?) than just going for blanket 'big hitter' captains.

Are you going to (c) them though? Alonso maybe, but the rest would be very bold IMO.

                7 years, 6 months ago

Maybe by being bold, one might beat the 'herd'? Differential and all that? I'm definitely going to consider this approach, as well as not necessarily spending my whole budget just for the sake of it. I could have a very good team after the break and still have over £3m itb.

For example, Salah looks good for fixtures, but then so does Sigurdsson.

        @Ginkapo

"I always threw the ball in, because then if I got the ball back, I was the only player unmarked." - Cruyff

Throw takers are impossible to mark, but they need to be closed down quicker for sure.

We should really start targeting attacking players against Arsenal. It's insane how often they give away the ball in their own half. Vardy with his pace could get at least two goals next gw.

Arsenal CB's are just not good enough. Monreal is getting older and slower while Bellerin cant defend. Torreira is a really good player but needs to get used to the league and has to be assisted with Xhaka who defending isn't his strength. Attack wise they will score goals but defence needs to be sorted out in January.
