Ive been arguing in favor of D. Silva starting the entire week. Now I need him benched to get Wilson's points.. Not gonna happen, is it?

What do you think about Moura? I've had him since GW1 and at first he was meant to be short-term punt until Son comes back, but he has started every game up until now and looks to be more nailed than Son/Lamela. He plays further forward than Kane and gets into quite many shooting positions. Had 2 great chances yesterday. Eriksen and Alli are coming back and fixtures turn though, so is it now the time to sell?

I'm sadly planning to sell. The fixtures turning is what does him in I think. He's had 4 weeks in my team with LIV, whu, hud, CAR and not gotten anything. Time to cut my losses. I can get him back GW15 if he's still OoP upfront for Spurs

I have had my eye on Doherty since gw1, but never had the opportunity to transfer him in. Wrong timing to do it now with some tougher fixtures on the horizon? Pereira/TAA better options possibly?

    1. Jealous Viper
      • 7 Years

In a similar spot. One of those players you love but just never seem to get. I think TAA is a better option if you have the budget. Also Duffy and Yedlin are ones to watch. Think it just may be chasing points to get Doherty

Same... But I think they can keep a cleen sheet even against better sides. Even if not he's still an attacking threat. I really think he's is a set and forget player.

That missed Lowton to Doherty transfer keeps hurting. Have a budget of up to 5.6 to move him out. Do I get Doherty or is that chasing points and should I get someone like Yedlin instead. Already have Ryan so no need for extra Brighton

Shameless brag alert! But am also genuinely interested in people's views on on the topic of points over pounds.

So for the brag part, my current OR is 228 (dizzying heights indeed) with Alonso, Hazard, Ramsey, Mitrovic to play. Expecting a red arrow from here of course, but should remain very high.

However, my total value is only 102, which is lower than almost everyone half serious in my mini leagues. The main reason it's so low is that I have made a concerted effort to not less price changes influence my transfer policy. If I know a player I want is rising 0.1 but has a midweek fixture, I'm just accepting it and making the transfer at the last minute regardless. I've let Pedro's value drop because I haven't really needed to replace him yet and the transfers in I've been making are racking up points galore, so I've just let him sit on the bench. I'm also shuffling heavy hitters around a bit and playing a very decisive 'fixtures over form' strategy, letting small blocks of excellent fixtures guide me rather than the vague concept of FPL 'form'.

So basically I'm unencumbered by price rises and drops, other than to get make a transfer at the right time once midweek games and pressers confirm no issues etc. On more than one occasion I've changed my transfer plan from earlier in the week after further consideration / news, and again it has mostly worked well.

So I'm interested in what people think about building TV, realistically how many points do you think it's going to help you with later in the season, etc? Would you rather be where I am or would you rather be 50 points behind me with a significantly higher TV that eventually will get you a theoretically better squad?

And yet I see people constantly worrying about price changes, and I'm fairly certain they are making transfers mostly to protect value, not entirely because it's the optimal transfer.

If budget players keep producing in 2nd half of the season you will be ok but somebody with say 2 or 3 million more than you for their second wildcard will have a huge advantage on you, I wouldn’t say 50 points but maybe 10 to 20 if they use it wisely

      1. MINUS FOUR
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I agree with that. It's actually going to be very interesting to see how it pans out. There appear to be so many great budget options I'm relatively confident it won't matter too much, but there is definitely going to be a noticeable difference on second Wildcard.

Obviously I'd like to have a high team value, but I can't imagine making a transfer where that's my main consideration at the potential cost of making the 'right' transfer. I guess I'm a little surprised at how much focus price changes get around here, yet when questioned everyone says "points over pounds of course".

The thing is, a smart manager doesn't lose value for no reason. Making early transfers etc.

The problem might come when you want to make a transfer but are priced out by 0.1 or 0.2 One of the Scout experts made the point that in the early GWs he felt it important to build TV so as not to be priced out later on.

There is a definite change in FPL over the last couple of years with knee-jerking becoming far more prevalent and altering player's prices within 48 hours of the GW finishing. You have to take that into account and balance the risks involved.

    7. Podge
      • 15 Years

Never paid any attention to price rises/drops. Saying that I was 0.1 short of Doherty and had to get Bennett, that’s cost me a lot. Still, value rises cos you have the right players, getting players after their points just for the rises is stupidity.

    8. Swanremainsthesame
      • 10 Years

If you do the math (74m buys you 1000 points, 26mn to buy another 1,300 for a decent OR) then 0.1mn needs to be 5 points over a whole season; 4 from now.
So if you are 1.5mn lower in TV now that's 60 points behind.
And of course if you blown some chips they normally pay off better late season too

30% of transfers are in the first 6 gw, and that's when TV is best built; after that it depends on skill/luck of buying & selling form players at the right time for points.

Last season kicked that as the best squads going into late season could be assembled for 102, that is been true previous few seasons to that.

Wildcard thoughts. Team value is low so have to go for a couple of options like Bennett instead of Doherty, TAA instead of Robbo

    Currently the team is

    Ederson *Foster
    *Shaw *Robbo WanB *Daniels Alonso
    Mane *Stephens *Moura *Wally Maddison
    *Kane King *Vardy

In would be Patricio, Mendy, TAA, Bennett, Hojberg, Hazard, Richarlison, Aguero and Arnie.

Thoughts please? Open to abuse after a shocker of a GW

Any chance of raising more for Jonny even over Bennett, more attacking and I feel while wolves are winning his place is safe butvany sort of a sticky patch and he will be first to be dropped and you don’t want to have to waste a transfer on a budget player

    Dubravka
    Walker Robbo Tomkins Alonso
    Hazard Richa Mane Fraser
    Arnie Aguero

    Subs: Hamer, WanB, Hughes, Kamara

    Which transfer should be first:
    A)Tomkins to TAA
    B Mane to Salah

I guess if Salah has a haul today - B, If not its A? 😀

      TAA is amazing value

Balbuena/Diop, Yedlin/Lascelles, Dunk/Duffy have all great fixtures if you want cheap

All about points. Get players in with good fixtures and form. Even I think fixtures over form is good strategy. I am however only 48 k now, played free hit this gw thinking it's a good plan, but terrible performancs from Spurs and manu defenders cost me.

Perhaps I just need to add another 4.5 keeper. And I guess that should be ryan

    I've had Doherty since GW4 and enjoyed his 6, 12, 2, 12 and 15 points.

Sorry to be a git but it's just a to counter all these self-pitying "why did I pick xxxxx over Doherty" posts.

Surely TAA won't rise again till after the international games??

Why ppl buying him last nite when he has to play yet anyhow??

Iv exact cash for Salah + TAA with my 2fts...

Maby one more rise. People more and more realize he’s better value AS Pool def cover than 1 mill expensiver Robbo:

Robbo only 2 assists and no goal. Last attacking point gw 4

If theres a indication he will rise again il have to buy him.

Punting on Salah finding form after break and want him alongside Hazard and Aguero so il have to risk it...
