A week of international fixtures gets underway today, with two African Cup of Nations qualifiers and a cluster of friendlies kicking off a nervy period in which we keep our fingers crossed in the hope of our Fantasy assets returning to England unscathed.

This article gives a club-by-club rundown on which assets will be away from their sides during this period, also detailing the dates in which these players will be competing for their respective countries.

There are four players in action in the early hours of Wednesday, October 17 who then face a long-haul flight back from the Americas: Alexis Sanchez (£10.0m), DeAndre Yedlin (£4.5m), Davinson Sanchez (£5.8m) and Raul Jimenez (£5.6m).

Davinson was among the substitutes in Spurs’ Premier League match against Liverpool immediately after the September international break, though Yedlin was thrust straight back into the Newcastle United starting XI for the visit of Arsenal. Alexis Sanchez sat out Chile’s previous two fixtures last month, while Jimenez was recalled early by Wolves as a precautionary measure in plenty of time ahead of Gameweek 5.

Manchester United are in action in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday, October 20, so it remains to be seen whether Alexis features from the start against Chelsea after his exertions in Mexico next Wednesday morning. Jimenez and Wolves, meanwhile, take on Watford at 3pm on that same Saturday.

The good news for owners of Fantasy assets playing for Brazil and Argentina is that their meeting on Tuesday, October 16 will take place in Saudi Arabia, meaning an earlier-than-usual finish time for the likes of Roberto Firmino (£9.4m), Alisson (£5.6m), Ederson (£5.7m), Richarlison (£6.8m), Lucas Moura (£7.4m) and Roberto Pereyra (£6.2m) and a shorter flight back to the UK.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.7m), Mohamed Salah (£12.8m), Sadio Mane (£9.9m), Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m) and Son Heung-min (£8.3m) are among the FPL players who are in action in Africa and Asia next Tuesday, meanwhile.

Sergio Aguero (£11.3m), Alexandre Lacazette (£9.6m), Aymeric Laporte (£5.7m) and Benjamin Mendy (£6.2m) are some of the more notable “uninjured” players who won’t feature for their respective national teams over the coming week.

Depends on rest of the team imo. Im happy to own a rested Aguero against Burnley.

I think they are both as good as each other

if you phrase it another way its sterling + 7mil fwd
        or
        kun + 7mil midfielder

so it depends who else you already have and prefer in those brackets
ownership wise kun has the potential to be far more damaging to rank. so if you are doing well I would say kun and maddison/richarlison is a better combo
however if you are trying to close ground up I can see the benefit in say sterling/arnie

I actually own all the players you've listed, trying to work out how to get Salah in, think i prefer to keep Sterling over Aguero, makes the KDB transfer pretty simple.

    Patricio

    Laporte - TAA - Boly - Alonso

    Haz - Maddison - Rich - Fraser - Hoj

    Aguero - Kane - Mitrovic

    Have 2 FT,

Suggest best options. Have multiple things in mind.

    1. Keep as it is (Keep Kane)
    2. Get Salah back
    3. Get Mane + Something
    4. Get Sterling + Cheap striker
    5. Get Laca + decent mid

After 7 weeks of stability, a not so staggering 54 point GW has brought me back down to earth, and now I have a lot of questions to face

    Ederson (Hamer)
    Bennett Alonso Robbo Mendy (AWB)
    Hazard Maddison Rich (Fraser, 4.5m)
    Aguero Kane Arnautovic

Really liking the look of Laca, but also wheary of Pools 2 fixtures coming up.

With one FT... Don't mind taking a -4

    A. Kane to Laca
    B. Kane to Firmino
    C. Other option

      kane to laca looks solid
I'm just wary over the next fixture - firmino is playing in south America and has to fly back and sturridge could easily deputise - unlikely but definitely a possibility
then if after next week if it becomes obvious you need Liverpool cover you can use those funds

Fair enough, I could alternatively swap Kane and Fraser for Salah and Vokes and play a 442, what do you reckon?

I am in the same boat.

Did Salah + Wilson > Kane and Moura last week, disastrous moves.

      can you do Kane + a midfielder > Lacazette + Mane/Salah ?

      1. ZTF
        • 12 Years

Nah, shifting Kane and Richarlison would only give me 9.5 for a midfielder 🙁

          Don't lose Richarlison for sure.

          Kane > Lacazette then.

    Morning lads.

This is my team and I'm wondering if I should be proactive and change, or make like Ville Ronka and believe in my players, each week making 1 FT that's a long term move. Already spent my FT on dumb move Shaw -> Doherty. Chasing points they call it.

    Hart, Hamer
    Alonso, TAA, Doherty, Wan-B, 3.9
    Hazard, Mane, Richarlison, Fraser, 4.3
    Kane, Lacazette, Mitrovic
    2.8 ITB

Good to go or not? Want to get a better goalkeeper, bring in Siggy, ship Mitro, maybe Mane too and I don't like Fraser either.

    1. Pinturicchio10
      7 years, 10 months ago

Yeah that was a pointless transfer. Need City players in there asap.

Could just get Agüero and be done with it. Who knows when De Bruyne will be 100%

Think long term. Hart is fine, just leave him. Siggy looks good, but I'm afraid you're chasing points there. And why ship Mitro and/or Fraser? They have excellent fixtures coming up. Many were wavering on Wilson, but he came good last week that could easily happen to Mitro/Fraser over the next 3-4. Same goes for Mane really, if you have kept him until now I dont understand why you would ship before Hudders and Cardiff.

GTG, I would look to upgrade at least one of your duds at the bench next week.

I think you're being a bit dramatic - it's not a bad squad. You could get Patricio and upgrade your 5th defender to Bennet and still have plenty of cash for a decent midfielder. I wouldn't go further than a 4-point hit per week, me.

On wildcard, want kdb if he's fit, but want pool attacker too (lowkey want salah), which one?

    A. Mane (9.9) + KDB (9.7) = 19.6m
    B. Salah (12.8) + Richa (6.6) = 19.4m + 0.2m (got richa since 6.6)
    C. Firmino (9.4) + KDB (9.7) = 19.1m + 0.5m

OR on 116k, any thoughts are appreciated
    cheers

Defo not B. You don't have KDB in that one.

Between Mane and Firmino, my vote goes to Firmino. He'll get a goal and assist just by showing up in Pool offense in those easy fixtures. And Mane is the type of player who stops after scoring 1 goal so he rarely gets a double haul.

When Pool win 5-0, which they will, Firmino is more likely to be involved in 2+ goals than Mane.

It is weird that they spent decent money on Gunn when they’ve already McCarthy and Forster. I’ve got McCarthy in my team though so Gunn can bloody wait!

You're being a bit rude there to LM. Show some respect. Southampton are off form now, but have been good FPL options in the past. Things can look different in another month.

Mané -> Salah worth it? Won’t be able to afford both. Tempting to keep Mané and spend money elsewhere, problem is I wouldn’t trust him with the armband, while I would with Salah

Would rather get Salah back in as priority for these fixtures. IB's are hard on Bobby and yeah Sturridge is knocking on the door. Having said that Bobby might play and would likely be involved in goals if he does, so follow your instinct, or have a look at his stats in the member's area to decide. If you ask people here they will generally just reply with what must closely resembles their team.

Worried more about playing awb or not
Thinking transferring. Mee but not geeting good repl without taking a hit
Also should i save FT ans play fost

    4. Pinturicchio10

Kane needs to go, you've basically compromised your whole squad to fit him in. I'd take a hit here.. Kane out for whoever and upgrade defence with Mendy or Robertson. Tis a bit of a mess alright but nothing that can't be sorted in a couple of gwks. Just get it done over as few as possible.

Who are you leaning towards for captaincy?

Good week to “punt” on Salah? Guess it depends on what we think Kuns EO will be. I’d guess about 130 in the top 10k (80 plus 50% captains). Haz about 115 (95+20) Kane about 50 (40+10) depends how many Kaners dropped out of the top10k last week).

So Salah was 23%. I’d imagine that may have fallen slightly or stayed consistent with transfers in. I think max 15% will captain so 40%...

So Kun at 130 versus Salah at 40? I think next week is the week.

do have a question if you fancy answering it (did ask Joe to ask the managers) - what sort of time commitment do you reckon you put it on average per week?
Have a feeling the consistently top ones must make a fair amount and not be fiddling about 30 minutes before deadline

Only midfield is template....double Liverpool defence, Begovic in goal isn't what I would call template. Even Kane...as most people tend to go Aguero or Lacazette for next couple of weeks.

I like the team...maybe lacks City players.

Sounds like he’s been managing the injury already so probably fine, only a yellow flag so not protected, but he’s nowhere near a price drop as he was on the verge of rising before the injury news came out.

Not if they’re injured/suspended they can’t. Also less likely in tough fixtures. They’re all likely to be fit and have great fixtures though, hence they could all -realistically- post massive scores.

      3. Shatner's Bassoon
        • 8 Years
        7 years, 10 months ago

I'd have to agree with this - Laca's immediate fixtures are against stronger defences.

You'll want Kun for BUR / SOU, and having Kane on top of that is a bonus which will elude most managers.

I suspect Fraser will be fine so don't worry about the flag.

This is a Salah-focused move but I'd even wait on him a week given that you have Kane and Aguero.

        1. ZTF
          • 12 Years
          7 years, 10 months ago

Its mainly just that I watched Spurs and Kane looked absolutely lost, plus he'll have been away with England while Laca is relaxing at home. Plus I genuinely just don't like fraser as a pick, don't know what it is about him but I wouldn't mind losing him at all tbh

          1. Shatner's Bassoon
            • 8 Years
            7 years, 10 months ago

            Ha - fair enough.

But Aguero also relaxing at home before Burnley is surely far too good to move from as well!

Any other way you could do Fraser -> Salah in three moves?

            1. ZTF
              • 12 Years
              7 years, 10 months ago

I could do it in 2, Fraser and Kane to Salah and a bench player, and play Bennett?

                • 8 Years
                7 years, 10 months ago

That looks quite a bit better yeah.

You can feasibly play Bennett for the next two fixtures then re-assess.

And it saves you 4 points - you only need Lacazette to not outscore Aguero by 5 points+ and you will net gain.

Leicester being forced not to play Morgan is probably bad for Arsenal...

yes I would: Lacazette hopefully continues his good form, Salah has good fixtures...maybe with Mitrovic for his next 3 fixtures

I think the first 3 players will outscore the second 3 players this game week. So maybe save FT and get salah in for Kane the following week

    Fire in defence again:

    Patricio
    Alonso,VVD,Shaw
    Salah,Hazard,Richarlison,Fraser
    Kun,Mitro,Ings

    Norris,Pareira,AWB,Stephens

    2FT, 1.7ITB

    Shaw -> TAA/Robbo/Mendy ?
And maybe Fraser if not fit else think to save FT.

Not liking the Van Dijk pick at all. Could you swap him and Shaw for Robertson and Mendy?

Me neither but this was my choice form the begining...
This would cement my def but I'll be short to Ings->Arni

Fair enough, that's a huge upgrade vs a defensive switch like I suggested. I'd go for Mendy in that case.

See how Salah does over next 1-2 PL games but even if he scores Mane and Kdb looks better value!... I’m also considering bringing Kdb once he’s back

WC intact but don't really feel like using it anytime soon. Has anyone had any success with delaying your first WC till as late on as possible to allow for a really late second wildcard when the double gameweeks come in as a factor?

    On wildcard. Possible target:
    Patricio (4.0)
    TAA, Doherty, Luis, Mendy, Bennet
    Salah, Hazard, Richarlison, Fraser, Masuaku
    Laca, Aguero, Wilson

Around 0.3 to play with after price rice/drops (Sigurdsson, Alonso, Madison currently in the team)

    Fraser could be Barkley/Schurrle

    Any comments or good target?

Very similar to mine. Do you not want to have a better keeper to switch with Patricio so you don't have a double up?

Another keeper just gives you benching headache. Double up fine with Save points from Patricio and attacking threat of Doherty. If I bring another it will be Ryan due to fixtures. Still pondering over whether to fit in Mitro as well due to fixtures.

Can't believe Mitro went down in price he rocketed down those last few hours.

Time to do Zaha > Mitrovic now I think and save the 0.1 as Zaha will drop in next day or two

Knee jerkers. Only because he has not returned in a couple of matches people drop him. The best managers look forward not backwards he has quite good fixtures now, quite on form and cheap so if you have him, why lose him.

It’s a tough one - leaning towards C. Maddison could get a return against an unconvincing Arsenal defence, really like Wilson as an option at home against Southampton and Kane could do well against West Ham

    Haz-Salah-Sterling-Fraser-Obiang
    Laca-Jimenez-King

Really like Numb's approach to FF based on the latest Meet the Manager. Simple, reduces variance, understands team structure/management.

There's a reason he's top of the HOF. Top, top manager.

Basically taking low risk choices. Captaining the most popular options, risk management so he doesn't bring anyone in until they are more proven. Better to miss a haul than to pick up a dud.

Nope. Because it would ruin his team structure for a one week punt. Glad I came to the same conclusion. Hazard (c) saved an awful week for me.

I did Aguero to Kane as it didnt have an impact on my structure ( got salah, hazard ) but now I feel forced to bring Aguero back in and hold off my other planned transfers by a week. Hopefully I learn my lesson

Interesting. I have the option to go with Salah/Arnie (the best option for captaincy) vs Mane/KDB (the best option for a spread of points. I wonder what he would choose? Probably the captaincy option as it is lower risk?

Which one I should get? Dilva and Lukaku have to go. Have 2 FT.

    A) Salah and Arnie
    B) Mane and Firmino
    C) Lukaku to Firmino and Shaw to TAA and next week Dilva to Mane.

    A would mean:
    GW9 Captain: Kun or Salah
    GW10: Salah
    GW11: Haz or Kun
    GW 12: Salah

    B:
    GW9: Kun
    GW 10: Haz
    GW11: Haz or Kun
    GW12: Haz

If I pick B, dont want to captain Mane or Firmino, but Haz and Kun rotating captain works really well. So is it worth having Salah or both Mane and Firmino?

I am on the exact same boat. Have 2FT’s and have Lukaku and Dilva to dump. Right now I’m looking at moving them Salah and Mitro for the exact cash! I’m bringing in Arnie in 2 weeks for Wilson when his fixtures turn

    Fab/ryan
    Alonso Mendy Robbo (doherty awb)
    Hazard sterling richarlison maddison (fraser)
    Mitro wilson laca

    And,
    Two 4.5gk or ederson/alisson+4.0?

    Patricio

    Laporte - TAA - Boly - Alonso - AWB

    Haz - Maddison - Rich - Fraser - Hoj

    Aguero - Kane - Mitrovic

    Have 2 FT,

Suggest best options. Have multiple things in mind.

    1. Keep as it is (Keep Kane)
    2. Get Salah back
    3. Get Mane + Something
    4. Get Sterling + Cheap striker
    5. Get Laca + decent mid
