Hazard’s frustrated FPL owners consoled by an assist off the bench

On a day of substantial Fantasy Premier League scores elsewhere, Eden Hazard‘s owners had to make do with a solitary assist from the Belgian as Chelsea ran out 3-1 winners at Stamford Bridge.

In the end, the 44% of FPL managers sitting on the Blues’ midfielder were perhaps content to get something other than the dreaded “one-pointer” as Hazard’s back injury restricted him to a half-hour appearance off the bench.

Marcos Alonso recorded his seventh assist of the season, meanwhile, and is now 19 points ahead of the second-highest-scoring defender in FPL (Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson).

We round up all the goals, assists, manager quotes and Fantasy talking points from the London derby that took place on Sunday afternoon.

Chelsea 3-1 Crystal Palace

  • Goals: Alvaro Morata (£8.7m) x2, Pedro (£6.3m) | Andros Townsend (£5.7m)
  • Assists: Pedro, Eden Hazard (£11.3m), Marcos Alonso (£7.0m) | James McArthur (£4.7m)

After the enjoyable exhibition of high-tempo football served up at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon, the overlapping fixture at Stamford Bridge was something of a let-down.

The match was indeed veering towards “tedious” territory for the first hour.

Up until the 60-minute mark, there had been two shots on target – both of which found the back of the net.

Alvaro Morata (£8.7m) opened the scoring on 31 minutes when controlling Pedro (£6.3m)’s half-volleyed ball across the box and firing past Wayne Hennessey before Andros Townsend (£5.7m) latched onto a James McArthur (£4.7m) through-ball not long after the interval to restore parity.

The only other action of note before Eden Hazard‘s (£11.3m) introduction on 64 minutes centred around Willian (£7.4m), who had a goal disallowed in the first half for the most marginal of offside calls and was then denied an assist when David Luiz (£5.5m) headed his compatriot’s in-swinging free-kick straight at Hennessey.

After the scintillating display at Burnley last weekend, Willian’s threat largely came from dead-ball situations on Sunday, but he still managed to create more chances in his hour-long showing than any other player on show at Stamford Bridge.

Willian’s owners would have found the manner of Chelsea’s second goal particularly galling as it was his replacement, Hazard, whose curling free-kick eventually found its way to Morata on the edge of the six-yard box, with the Spanish striker confidently lashing home from a tight angle.

Not for the first time this season, Hazard came off the bench to inject some life into a stale Chelsea performance.

The Gameweek 2 victory over Arsenal and the Europa League win over MOL Vidi come to mind, with Hazard’s introduction as a substitute on both occasions having a galvanising effect with the scores level and that same impact was felt again against the Eagles on Sunday.

Hazard’s motivational contribution didn’t translate into a particularly noteworthy performance from a Fantasy perspective, with the Belgian not registering a single shot on goal or penalty box touch in his all-too-brief time on the field.

The talismanic midfielder could so easily have emerged from the game with a second assist, however, when Morata wasted the chance of a hat-trick by chipping Hazard’s through-ball straight at Hennessey following a swift break.

His manager, Maurizio Sarri, had this to say about him after full-time:

Today was very important to have him on the bench. I spoke yesterday with the doctor and he said Hazard was doing better but, for me, is not able to play for 90 minutes.

So I asked for the bench, and he said I could try. But no more than 30 minutes. We were lucky. Immediately, the first minute, I think, he was able to change our match. But you know Hazard is Hazard. He’s able to do this very often.

There will no doubt be a fair share of Hazard’s owners who are tempted to bail on the Belgian after five points in three Gameweeks and premium alternatives Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) and Sadio Mane (£9.8m) enjoying a home fixture against Fulham in Gameweek 12.

Hazard has, however, another week to recover from the back injury that has plagued him over the last fortnight and Chelsea next face an Everton side without a clean sheet away from home this season and who have shipped two goals in four of their five Premier League fixtures on the road.

Chelsea’s reliance on Hazard is palpable at times and there is little doubt that if he is fit, he will start next Sunday – something that perhaps can’t be said for Liverpool’s attacking midfielders when Fulham come to town.

Pedro did his best to alleviate the burden that Hazard shoulders in this Chelsea side by recording a goal and assist, producing a sprightly performance and registering more penalty box touches than anyone on show at Stamford Bridge.

It seems a long time ago that Pedro was the in-vogue mid-price midfield option and in reality, there will be few Fantasy managers willing to revisit the Spanish winger despite his 12-point return.

With Hazard nearing full fitness, the “job share” with Willian – who has started 11 matches in a row in all competitions – is reason enough to give Pedro a wide berth for the foreseeable.

It was only a week ago that we were discussing the double-digit return of another mid-price Chelsea midfielder: Ross Barkley (£5.9m).

The former Everton midfielder was the most-bought player of Gameweek 11 but sadly for the 450,000+ FPL managers who drafted him into their sides, there was to be no repeat of his heroics at Turf Moor.

Barkley picked an inopportune time to deliver a below-par performance, not registering a single penalty box touch – as happened last week – and failing to record one key pass.

The Chelsea midfielder’s only effort on goal was a wild shot from distance that sailed high above the bar, while he was dispossessed on more occasions than any of his team-mates.

It was no surprise, therefore, to see Mateo Kovacic (£5.9m) replace him on 64 minutes, and the worry for Barkley and his 9.4% of FPL owners was that the Croatia international produced a tidy display on his introduction.

Just as we didn’t go overboard with the hype last weekend, however, it would be misguided to write Barkley off as disposable after one poor performance.

Palace did an excellent job of shackling Barkley throughout and it remains to be seen whether Everton have anything in their locker to do likewise in west London next weekend – if, of course, the England midfielder keeps his place over Kovacic. Who Sarri picks in midfield against BATE Borisov on Thursday evening should give us a big clue as to who will start against the Toffees in Gameweek 12.

Marcos Alonso (£7.0m) seems unlikely to lose many owners in that intervening period after the Spanish left-back recorded his seventh assist of the season for the low cross that led to Pedro’s goal.

That no FPL defender recorded more than seven assists in the whole of 2017/18 illustrates the value for money that Alonso is offering even at this premium price: no outfield player is currently returning more FPL points (11.1) per million spent.

Alonso’s assist potential has seemingly replaced his goal threat, with the Spaniard having again failed to record a single attempt on goal.

The Spanish left-back, who has attempted fewer shots than David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger (£6.0m) in the last seven Gameweeks, discussed his changing role at Chelsea ahead of Gameweek 11.

Alonso said:

It was harder for me when I went to Italy and I started playing as a wing-back because that was new for me, but now it’s just going back to the position I played in before I moved to Italy.

That’s the position I’ve always played and I feel good there. Playing as a wing-back I used to be closer to the goal and I could help the team more in attack, now it’s different. I have to pick when I try to go up and focus on defending.

Maurizio and Antonio are both very good managers but it’s a completely different style. Now we try to have control of the game with possession, we try to find spaces to get closer to the goal and generate chances. I think we are all feeling very good playing this way and we have to make sure the results keep coming.

There is little wrong with Alonso’s creativity, though. Only three defenders, all of whom take set pieces for their respective clubs, have carved out more chances in 2018/19.

With Olivier Giroud (£7.8m) once again ruled out with muscle fatigue, Morata was used as the spearhead of the Chelsea attack again.

Morata’s performances have improved in the last month and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.9m) is the only FPL forward to have scored more goals than the former Juventus and Real Madrid striker in the last four Gameweeks.

Morata’s performance was a mix of predatory strike play and profligacy, and the forward seemed visibly dejected by his glaring stoppage-time miss.

Sarri admitted that Morata has a psychological barrier to overcome:

He’s a little bit fragile from the mental point of view. But he’s very young. I think he can improve, improve very fast.

Alvaro improved the last month. Improved for the confidence, improved for the personality, improved also from the technical point of view. Now he’s able to play more with the team, I think. But I think, also, that Alvaro has a very great physical and technical potential, so I think he can improve more.

Palace had started this game in a 4-4-2, with Wilfried Zaha (£6.8m) and Andros Townsend (£5.7m) leading the line and Max Meyer (£5.6m) brought in to play on the left of midfield.

That the Eagles only had two shots on target in the whole game – one of which was Townsend’s goal – underlined the problem Roy Hodgson’s side have been having all season in converting their positive build-up play into chances.

Zaha’s display was a fine example of that – the Ivorian caused plenty of problems for Chelsea’s backline with his trickery and no player on show registered more penalty box touches.

Zaha didn’t, however, register a single shot on goal in the entire 90 minutes.

The former Manchester United winger was frequently crowded out by blue shirts as he weaved into dangerous positions and opposing defences have clearly cottoned on to the fact that by stopping Zaha, they are cutting off Palace’s main source of goals from open play.

Zaha was even name-checked in Sarri’s post-match presser:

Zaha is very fast. Sometimes, I have to say that, especially in the first 20 minutes in the first half and the first 15 minutes of the second half, we were not in good positions under the ball line in the offensive phase. We were in trouble because we gave them, and especially him, spaces to attack. So it’s not easy to run with Zaha in a long race.

Chelsea XI (4-3-3): Kepa; Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Alonso; Kante, Jorginho (Fabregas 80′), Barkley (Kovacic 64′); Willian (Hazard 64′), Morata, Pedro.

Crystal Palace XI (4-4-2): Hennessey; Wan-Bissaka, Tomkins, Sakho, Van Aanholt; McArthur (Schlupp 80′), Kouyate, Milivojevic, Meyer (Ayew 71′); Townsend, Zaha.

this. I did it before the Spurs games and have no regrets other than I had KDB too... but he becomes Mane this week for a midfield of Salah, Mane, Sterling, Haz and.... Brooks! We're having the usual people desperately defending the team they have which was picked by somebody else deciding what was "the template" when, any way you cut it, City scoring 6 goals and Aguero gets just 1 in 90 mins? I'll take my chances with Sterling and maybe another like Dilva. I got rid of Aguero for Arnie and I can't knock Arnie's returns for a fraction of the price.

For me the emergence of Grady Diangana, who picked up his first return this season at the weekend. West Ham looked relentless going forward and if he can continue working a relationship with Arnie and Anderson, they could become huge assets over the next third of the season with such a favourable fixture list, where I think they only face one top-six side until mid Jan. (that covers the first two points.)

Regarding talking point, I see many saying Aguero is the only premium striker worth having. With his minutes limited and his returns somewhat tame by his standards - only scoring one in a six goal rout - is it a good move to run with three mid-priced strikers?

I'd never run without at least one, personally. Aguero has been set and forget since GW1 for me, I've had a couple of premium in that time next to him (including Kane) however currently have Ings and Arnie which I am happy enough with although will upgrade Ings at some point with the £2.7m itb I have.

For player I think Martial (is he now the mythical midfielder in the 7 something bracket). But many will want to discuss Sterling.

Team - possibly West Ham. Can Diangana offer us a great enabler? And is Felipe Anderson now an option to cash in on West Ham's fixtures?

Issue - has Richarlison won the battle of the mid price mids over Maddison?

Player - Sterling. Is he better than Aguero?
Team - Man City. Their defence is incredible. Their attack is incredible. What is the best way to exploit this with just 3 players?
Talking Point - Unbalanced Teams. Is it really possible to have RAM and 3 of 4 premium players out of Salah, Hazard, Aguero and Sterling?

P.S. Will the scoutcast apologise for ganging up on Mark's -8 a few weeks back and admit his superiority as the number 1 FPL pundit? 😉

        About the P.S.

It was his gw9 transfers payed off gw11 but probably not the way he thought it would end up. Still a little bit blur decision making going Sterling gw9 after tough IB with CL coming up days later. Now Sterling rested for Carabao and Aguero non owner, easy decision payed of by this season's highest score.

A little bit jammy but a great manager creates his own luck remeber!

With hazard, sterling ,kun and likely emergence of kane and lacazette during the gw15,16 fixture swings is it time to dump salah after this week to increase the premium assets count from 3 to maybe 4 or 5 as many have only 3 (i.e.) hazard ,salah ,kun/sterling/mane

Player - Raheem Sterling. Should he replace Aguero, Hazard or Salah? Can he be brought in alongside those 3?

Team - West Ham - Fixtures are improving. Diangana, Arnie, Balbuena, Fabianski, Zabaletta, Anderson. Who to own and how many?

Talking Point - Breaking the template. The template has had another good week. Is it best to just copy it or is there a way to break the template and get ahead? If so, who to bring in? Who to discard?

What to do with Wolves assets for the next few?

I ended up, rather stupidly, with three Wolves players who were all benched this week (and next probably) giving me almost nothing in the way of variety and cover. They have another tough fixture next week and then a couple of plums (oo-er).

The way I see it, Bennett is a cheap third bencher
Doherty still seems too good to drop
Jimenez is the frustration. His stats going into GW9 were incredible and then he blanked in two fairly easy fixtures. As soon as I stick him on my bench he hauls. Is he too unreliable to be a starting forward and too expensive to be bench fodder?

By the way, Joe, I bounced back after my 31 points last week. 83 (Sterling (c)) is a much healthier score!

I think so, got some rough game weeks coming up after the Fulham game as well. Actually traded him for Balbuena before this game week in order to get in Salah and Ings for Mane and Mitro. Against the stream on all accounts except getting rid of Mitro I guess, but makes sense to me if you think in terms of expected value rather than output so far.

Yeah - good question and a really tough one. I have played with taking him out. Felipe Anderson is a great replacement with those fixtures, particularly for those who are still wary of Arnautovic. However, with his decent stats and great fixtures I just haven't been able to justify burning a transfer on him.

      Talking Point
Time for a formation change? 3-5-2 heavy in midfield. Ditch Aguero for a mid-priced forward so as to get in Sterling in place of a mid-priced midfielder, say Maddison due to poor form.

I think it's been 3-5-2 time for a while now. There are only about five decent starting forwards to choose from (though Morata is one for the watchlist, certainly) whilst a number of great midfield prospects have formed an orderly queue outside my team bus.

Player: Sterling. Should we be sacrificing Aguero/Salah/Hazard to get him in? Personally I'm looking at Salah to Mane to fund Maddison to Sterling next week.

Team: West Ham. I have doubled up with Balbuena and Arnautovic, but who else is worth considering? Fabianski, Anderson, Zabaleta, or perhaps a 4.5m midfield option in Diangana? Does he make a case for tripling up as an alternative enabler, instead of Camarasa/Hojberg? The fixtures are incredibly good, by far the best of any team right up to mid January, and seem to be playing well enough for the price tags. They also rotate incredibly well with Wolves, who cover the City fixture when at home to Huddersfield.

Talking point: Bench players. With fixtures piling up, how much priority should we be putting on having a strong bench when making transfers? How much rotation can we expect for our premium priced players, and which players does this put you off from in particular?

Thanks. I disagree with a lot of what you've written though. Your argument assumes that a cheap bench player is a weak prospect. Wan Bisaka for example was a great option before the fixtures turned. I think Bennet is a good option, I think Camasara and Diangana (maybe Success) could also return attacking points exactly when you need them.

My point was making sure you go with a well thought 4.5m option, rather than trying to fluke a 4.4 or 4.3 option who isn't nailed. My point is to avoid going for a player you don't really want or expect to get points, just to be able to afford someone else. I have had a rule to not transfer in anyone who I don't like and it's resulted in a strong bench.

I only just saw this so perhaps you won't see my reply!

My argument was kind of the opposite - that a cheap player is about as good as a cheap-medium player due to the likelihood of returns from such players. The most likely return is a 2 pointer until you spend in excess of about 6m, in which case they shouldn't be on your bench.

Also, unless you have a major benching headache, your benched player is on your bench for a good reason. There's no point in sticking money on your bench unnecessarily.

Your point about AWB fits in with my argument - There are plenty of 4.0-4.5 prospects who can regularly return, so don't weaken the rest of your team for a slightly better prospect when these slightly better prospects are only a little more likely to return points, especially when you need a special set of circumstances for you to realise these points.

Case in point. I had Jimenez on my bench at the weekend. He is nearly 1.5m more than a baseline junk player. However I thought that Doherty would score more, if called upon, and so Jimenez was my second sub. I left 13 points on my bench. As is happened, despite having the money invested on my bench and waiting to be called upon, I would have needed two no-shows to realise my bench value. So even if you invest sensibly you still need to get the bench order right. It's not easy and, in my opinion, a bit of a lottery.

Thoughts on Salah triple captain v Fulham?

Would normally adopt the standard double GW tactic for the triple captain. However, is Salah at home v the worst PL defence not just this season but ever too good an opportunity to turn down?

Saving for a double GW has it’s risks - unknown who will have double GWs, who the fixtures will he against, or if the best captain options will be fit and on form when the fixtures cone about.

Player: Sterling (in comparison to Salah for those who can only afford one)

Team: CTY. I think we need a reassessment of their fantasy assessments now that KGB is out the picture again.

Talking point: Three premium defenders or more focus on attacking investments given recent returns?

I believe that the key in FPL is getting ahead of the new template. So maybe it's time to ditch expensive defenders for turbo midfield? I know everyone loves RAM, but big teams are not as resilient as they where at the beginning. Maybe good old setting of One Premium–5.5/5.0–4.5–4.5–4.0 is the way to go?

Balbuena and Doherty rotates very well at 4.5-ish territory, Wan-B is wonderful at 4.0/4.1 and for 5.0/5.5 you can have the likes of Digne, Pereira or even David Luiz/TAA. Add one of RAM in this and you have really good looking defense for significantly less money.

And if you have Success on the bench, there is room in midfield even for Salah-Hazard-Sterling combo.

That's my talking and tinkering point this week.

Robertson - Alonso - Mendy performance. Since GW1, they have returned (assuming no auto-subs - which would increase the points below for when they are subbed out):

        GW1: 36pts
        GW2: 28pts
        GW3: 24pts
        GW4: 19pts
        GW5: 4pts (Mendy was injured)
        GW6: 13pts (Mendy was injured)
GW7: 4pts (Mendy was injured and Chelsea played Liverpool)
GW8: 17pts (Man City played Liverpool)
        GW9: 19pts
        GW10: 16pts (Robertson was benched)
        GW11: 10pts

Transferring in Trippier for Mendy when Mendy was injured and then back again would have been a good move. GW5, GW6, GW7, Trippier scored 1, 4 and 11 pts

I know their history, I played this game from the start of season and had Mendy+Alonso most of the time and VVD/TAA next to them.

But history is history. That's what I try to suggest. I believe that best FPL players are those who gets ahead of the curve just in time. It's extremely difficult, but having right players while everyone around you are chasing last GW's points is the best feeling you can have in this game.

I could be horribly wrong. But I feel that top teams are showing first signs of leaking goals. And 6-1 win is terrible if you own an expensive City defender.

      Player - Sterling

Is Sterling essential? Which is the best way to fit him in our teams if we already own RAM, Salah, Hazard & Aguero? Who should be sold for him?

      Talking Point -

Is RAM hurting our team structure?
Is it worth selling any of them and investing money in midfield?
If so who should we sell and who would the top replacements be?

how about a more niche effort this week. I'm already groaning anticipating the Sterling /Kun/hazard /Salah /Mane talk dominating. Come on, we know what we are going to get from these. There really isn't much to say

      Player : Eriksen
      Team: Watford
Talking point : Price rises - are managers cutting it too fine this year with rises /falls so volatile (should we keep 0.5 ITB so we can make moves at the pace we want and forever be chasing)

Player - Morata. Viable underrated option as a second way into the Chelsea attack, or fragile on confidence rotation risk? (Would rather you didn't cover Sterling again after talking about him extensively only 3 weeks ago!)

Filipe Anderson would be another good option for discussion, does he compare favourably with Arnautovic?

Is captaincy becoming boring? Are we at the stage where captain hauls are all but guaranteed from the main men of the top teams playing at home?

Bar the Kane vs. Cardiff debacle, it's been plain sailing for the captain poll leaders and there seems to be little fun in selecting your captain anymore, knowing you're getting points and so is everyone else too. There seems very little point in taking a risk with a punty captain unless you're very far behind.

As discussed in a stickied topic yesterday, many of us have gone 11 weeks on the bounce without a captain fail, which is consistency almost unheard of in previous seasons. Is this exciting, knowing you're going to get nailed on points, or is it making the whole captaincy element negligible?

6*2 may not be a captain fail, but 20*2 is far better.
Some captaincy non-fails are much better than others.
It's still not easy to get the very best captain.

… In fact, total captain points is more important than the numbers of failures and successes.
1*2 followed by 20*2 is better than 6*2 followed by 10*2 (as long as the 1*2 doesn't cause you to lose a H2H match or to be eliminated from LMS).

I wish it were boring! I've captained 9 different players so far, and it's been a real rollercoaster. I really don't think it's as obvious who to captain as you make it sound, even if you buy players specifically to be your captain. Things can change in the lead-up to the game, form can swing, etc.

That said, there will never be 100% of the game with the same captain as you, so you will always make gains and losses from the chip, which is less boring than having no chip, even though I would prefer the more boring, no-chip option 😀

Probably more relevant next week, but I just put it out there.

Double on City attack (Aguero+Sterling) and ditch Liverpool attack way to go going forward? I've not considered going Salah-less until I realized City have scored 33 goals and Liverpool 21. Also nice looking ahead to christmas when Liverpool have a very bad run of fixtures.

Aguero - City FPL distribution of pts amongst so many players. Also Aguero's away returns are just rubbish.
team Arsenal - anything apart from Lacazette worth the money
TP - optimal City assets if Kun-less.
or real budget strikers - 2 have returned this week (albeit pens) just as many were thinking of moving on (and many had benched anyway). Set and forget or take the old "Anichebe" route and use the funds?

      Players:
Felipe anderson - form and fixtures
Martial - inconsistent player, has he matured enough to consider him not only as a short term punt
Brooks - great youngster, improving every game but rotation prone
City mids - time to consider a double up?

      Teams:
West ham - they seem to have found their pace after some harsh initial fixtures, can they aim high and establish some CS
Bournemouth - are they the real deal? next fixtures will be the true test
Wolves - where is that defensive resilience gone? Can they recover with the softer calendar coming up?
Man utd - can they challenge for a top 4 place?

Is wilson too late? lack of any good strikers besides Arnie around 7m now, with wilson and mitro having bad fixtures, Murray has bad underlying stats. Time to go 3-5-2?

Team: wolves - some promising signs against spurs, particularly with a disallowed goal. Fixtures are okay.

talking point: fixtures not being great for many teams, how to deal with that?.
It seems like every team has not-so good fixtures at the minute, but the ones that do are: Leicester, West Ham, Brighton, Huddersfield, Cardiff. Leicester+West Ham have good options, as we know, but the other 3 teams are all terrible, that despite good fixtures we're still ignoring them. Is anybody worth it from these teams for the next 5 weeks or so? Or do we stick with players who have okay fixtures.

At what point is the rotation excuse not good enough anymore? Or are we resigned to playing FPL tactics of previous years, i.e. pick only 100% nailed players. Sterling isn't 100% nailed, but he has the highest points per match in the game with less than 10% ownership and he is going to be in the top 5 midfielder point scorers at the end of the season because City are going to smash teams. Are missing a trick here? Isn't having one good bench player good enough to cover for the odd game Sterling would miss?

Can we talk about Mitrovic as the player? Is it worth doing a sideways move to Wilson, given Wilson’s fixtures? What about downgrading to Ings or Jiménez or even Success? I’m considering benching him until I have a little more flexibility and playing Diangana instead.

Question is can/ should I save FT?

    1FT £0.1itb
    Fab
    Alonso, Robbo, Mendy, Duffy
    Salah (c), Haz, Fraser, Madd
    Aguero, Wilson

    (Foster) (Success, Doherty, Capoue)

I’d obv love to get Arnie in but it would mean taking a -4 and dumping Madd for a 4.4. Something like:
    Success, Madd > Arnie, Kayal/Stephens

Sterling feels like a next week move as doesn’t feel right to drop Haz for him. Maverick alternative is to drop Kun for Jimmy and upgrade Fraser to Sterling!?

Just took a look at my season history. It's pretty inconsistent (varies from 78(!) to a horrible 1,1m) but those bad years in FPL correlates pretty directly with the birth of my children.

Now that I wrote it down I'm beginning to think that no-one's finding this crap interesting. But I did, so there 😀

Am I the only one not frustrated by Hazard?

I mean he comes back from injury off the bench and gets an assist. How is that frustrating? How many players are going to do that?

Now he'll start next GW (barring injury) and start smashing it again.

I guess it's frustrating because he could have scored more given more minutes? And it's still frustrating when your premium assets start on the bench, even if you mostly know it's going to happen. But agree, it's a passing 1-gameweek frustration with plenty to look forward to next week.

I'm a spurs fan and was gutted the move to us never went ahead. Think he had his few seasons to bed in and if he's given the game time he'll light it up. Its a big IF under Jose though.

Looks to be United's main threat / best player, and their fixtures are amazing over the next 10 or so post-City.

So definitely on the radar but will probably prioritise getting Sterling over him. Raz is magic.

If Martial's still in the side around GW16 he'll probably be coming in.

I quite like him as a punt but he is under a rotation cloud. Lukaku and Rashford are lurking.

Anyone ever use the official site's 'Value' calculations? Seem pretty ruuuudimentary.

Would rather something along the lines of points-per-million per week (over the last say 6 games).

Official calcs look like it's either Points/Value (whole season), or Points last 4 weeks / 4 (form).

Where can I use a transfer to make the team better? Mané --> Salah seems the obvious way to upgrade, but don't have enough money. Bernardo Silva --> Martial could be a good option, but this week is not ideal.

    Ryan (Button)
    Alonso | Mendy | Robertson | Balbuena | (Wan-Bissaka)
Richarlison | Hazard | Mané | Bernardo Silva | (Camarasa)
    Arnautovic | Agüero | (Jiménez)

I think the goal they conceded against Brighton was a little unlucky and it's hard to keep a Spurs side out with that much talent. Wait a few more weeks imo.

Patricio still making saves and Doherty still looks attacking - it's just the lack of CS at the minute which probably pick up when their fixtures ease up.

Anyone else with Mahrez this Week? Feel like I dodged a bullet as has Chillwell's 12 points as first sub, but if he had started for City could have been well amongst the points….

Assume all us Mahrez-owners are planning to sell - Sterling seem the obvious?

Digne stacking up very well against other attacking defenders. Potential 'RAM' buster / cash saver!

Wouldn't be keen this week of course, but from GW13 he's got CAR, NEW, WAT across 4 weeks. Doherty with good fixtures whenever he's away to the big guns so can rotate fine.

Was looking at him or Keane, but went RAM instead. Not keen on getting rid of any of RAM now, even if Mendy blanked. But a lot of £saved for possible upgrade to sterling. Difficult decision

I'd play Doherty as he'll be more likely to get an attacking return over Wan, agree with neither of them keeping a CS.
