After the hectic Christmas period, there is no little consensus over which premium Fantasy Premier League options are the best to own.

The problem has been particularly prevalent in midfield and attack with the recent re-emergence of Mohamed Salah (£13.3m) forcing managers to chop and change their more expensive assets to get him back in.

We have decided to take the opportunity of the upcoming break from league action to compare some of the popular players at the dearer end of their classification.

These are Salah, Raheem Sterling (£11.3m), Eden Hazard (£11.1m), Leroy Sané (£9.5m) and Paul Pogba (£8.4m) in midfield with Harry Kane (£12.6m), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.4m), Sergio Aguero (£11.2m) and Roberto Firmino (£9.1m) up front.

Using the Fantasy Football Scout members’ area we have weighed these options against each other for various statistics over the last six Gameweeks.

The analysis takes into account their minutes per shots in the box, minutes per efforts on target, creativity and expected data.

We have chosen the period of the last six Gameweeks to factor in the hectic festive period but also to take into account some of the matches before that too.

Those who aren’t currently paid up members could wait until the weekend to pick up a discounted membership for £10 and access this later…

    One more TAA with 2ft:

Fabianski > Etheridge (next 9/10 fixtures at least ok)
    Holebas > TAA

Would get 0.1 profit from Fab to fund TAA exactly. Would have defence of Robbo, TAA, Doherty, Digne, Awb.

Yes, I'm looking at Son + Auba > Salah + Rash
      OR simply Son > Pogba

So for me it's a comparison of Pogba + Auba vs Salah + Rash

It's a risk losing Auba, but if Rash keeps up his form it should be worth it.

    Fabianski

After reflecting upon your great suggestions, I came up with two options. I'd really appreciate your opinions, lads. Your insights are my greatest FPL source. Anyway, here's my current squad:

    Fabianski / Patricio

    Alonso / Robertson / Doherty / Duffy / Balbuena

Hazard / Sané / Felipe Anderson / Richarlison / Fraser

    Aubameyang / Rashford / Jimenez

    Should I

    A. Do Auba-Arnie, Anderson-Salah, Alonso-Pereira/Digne/TAA (-4 points)

    B. Wildcard, and go with
    Fabianski
    TAA / Doherty / Pereira
    Salah / Hazard / Sané / Fraser
    Kun / Rashford / Arnie

    Bench: Guaita, Duffy, Wan-B, Camarasa

only 2 big hitters because too much in defence - Doherty/Digne/Kola/Shaw/Perieria/Chilwell all decent options

balanced teams have 3 big players, unbalanced have 4. you will lose ground against those teams I fear

    2. MTPockets
      7 years, 7 months ago

When's Ryan back - i.e. any point in Button vs LIV/mun?
Have Alonso but honestly not sure I'd get him now
Would probably have Deuolofeu over Doucoure
      Pogba/Rashford?
Do you need Anderson + Arnie given their mixed fixtures?
      Is Aguero back to nailed?

      1. JayJay96

Mid February I think with Ryan, Button fits in well for that time being.

Doucoure is more nailed and an undervalued asset. I did consider deulofeu however.

Yeah I think I’d prefer Anderson over Arnautovic?

        Aguero must have for me

Keep it simple. A Hazard / Salah captaincy rotation gives us

NEW CPL LEI HUD BOU BHA WAT ful BUR ful car sou CHE BUR HUD WAT WOL

the only bad week (Che vs Liv) you have Kane/Son (HUD), Auba (wat), Sterling/Aguero/Sane (cpl), Pogba (WHM) as strong alternatives
the 4 away fixtures are ful*2, car, sou all relegation fodder.

Some questions.. Id really appericiate any answers & thoughts.
Would you consider Aguero on WC? If you are going to captain Salah for next few weeks or so, is there any need for Kane or can you cover him with Eriksen and use the money elsewhere? Cheers all.

    1. Dr. Rog
      • 16 Years
      7 years, 7 months ago

id say Aguero/Auba/Kane is a matter of taste and they are fairly exchangeable.
the real question on a WC is your team structure - do you want 2 big strikers or 1 or none? do you want to play a 3-5-2 or a 3-4-3? do you want Alonso or someone like Sane/Son. how flexible will your team be responding to injuries or bandwagons?

I like Aguero but the two factors you need to consider is potential rotation for champs league, and where his phone fixtures are, since those are the big ones to captain him on.

    Best one?

    A) Keep FT
    B) Son to Salah, Martial to Sane/Eriksen next week
    C) Martial to Sane, Son to Salah next wee

Thinking C as it would be nice to have Son vs United? Will have no Spurs cover after this one but Sane should be good for next 3 and than can make a change back to Son or other Spurs mid.

My team feels like it's the messiest it's been all season.

    Fab
    Alonso, Lovren, AWB
    Hazard, Son, Rich, Felipe, Martial
    Kane, Auba

    Stek, Kamara, Femenia, Doherty

It's frying my brain a little bit but for next week, is the only thing that's urgent to get rid of Martial? Resisting the urge to wildcard and start again.

Martial still one of their best players, I'd say he can stay for now.
Would you consider a swoop for Kun, though? City are bouncing back with Fernandinho in the XI, and he seems the best way into that City attack if you dont want the midfield headache.

      1. Black Knights
        • 14 Years

Yes i'd like Kun back (of course). Could be for Auba but having just been stung with Sane to Haz, i'm not keen on taking out a big hitter with a decent game for now.

I think i'll hold Martial and reassess later, thanks.

      Which formation do you intend?
A looks better dependent on 4atb but B looks better if you intend to bench Camarasa

neither Gunn nor Guaita are nailed.
Guaita is a fine pick but pair him with a nailed 4.5 (or even Hennessey).

team A out of those because Salah mainly.

    Guys,

    A. Stick with this lot with 2 ft:

    Fabianski / Patricio

    Alonso / Robertson / Doherty / Duffy / Balbuena

Hazard / Sané / Felipe Anderson / Richarlison / Fraser

    Aubameyang / Rashford / Jimenez

    or

    B. Wildcard and go with

    Fabianski

    TAA / Doherty / Pereira

    Salah / Hazard / Sané / Fraser

    Kun / Rashford / Arnie

    Bench: Guaita, Duffy, Wan-B, Camarasa

Own both Aubameyang and Kane, I keep changing my mind, who to drop.

Lucas coming back into play is a bit of a bugger for Kane, despite his form.

Now rumours of Solanke off to Bournemouth now, possibly on a permanent deal.
    Competition for Wilson, surely?

Don’t think it would be permanent but might be one of those loans with option/obligation to buy

    Kane Aguero Kamara

Guaita Speroni is a bit risky.
