Recorded during the last few minutes of Gameweek 28’s fixtures, the Scoutcast crew cling to the hope of huge points hauls right to the final whistle.

For Az and Joe, though, the evening proved particularly frustrating as they are left to settle for a mere dribble of 11th-hour returns from the likes of Paul Pogba.

At least one of the crew saw their hope rewarded. Special guest Adam Hopcroft, who was filling in for the red-flagged podcast pair of David and Luke, ended the night on 62 points to set him on course for his sixth top 10,000 overall finish.

Amid the excitement of a Gameweek finale, the crew also find time to mull over the key players, teams and talking points of the week.

Chelsea’s strong fixture run comes under scrutiny, as does the potential of a Leicester side under new management following the appointment of former Celtic and Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.

Chip strategy is also revisited with recent injuries to key players and the strong form of Newcastle presenting further challenges and opportunities as Fantasy mangers navigate the upcoming blank and double Gameweeks.

Gameweek 29 is then looked at in detail, with clean sheet and differential prospects put under the microscope.

Proceedings take an unusual turn when Monty Python’s Life of Brian and He-Man earn mentions.

The crew finish the show by revealing  their transfer and captaincy plans. As the old football cliché goes “they can take the despair, it’s the hope that kills them”.

If you've already got 11 players for 31 or are using FH31 then this seems fine.
Otherwise I won't consider using 2 transfers on shipping players who play gw31 and gw33 and have decent fixtures in both

Not sure what your plans are for the blanks but would Jimmy to Barnes give you enough? Probably not the best week for it but can't see to many other opportunities there.

Chance of Sterling playing false 9 is putting me off captaining him while Hazard will be playing a manager less Fulham.

Good Morning DZers, hopefully there are some West Ham connoseurs out there. Looking to bring in a West Ham defender for the blank as well as their run of good fixtures and not sure of Pellegrinis first choice when all are fit. I see that Rice i playing in a holding midfield position-will he keep that and where does Chillwell usually fit in. Whose the more of a goal threat between Diop and Ogbhona and will Fredricks keep his place when Balbuena returns.

Likely line-up if all fit I'd guess would be:

      Fredricks/Zabs(RB) Diop(CB) Balbuena/Oggy(CB) Cresswell(LB)

      Rice holding mid

    Morning guys,
I'm seeing lot of people thinking about ditching Salah.
    Is it due to
    A. Money oriented
    B. Don't need money & binning him for being out of form.

IF A is the reason, Team Value does matter.
I have Salah + 1.9 itb with okay side
    106.6m TV

Not saying TV is more important than points, but it's very important

What are your thoughts on this ??

    1. waldo666
      • 15 Years
      7 years, 5 months ago

I don't think it matters that much tbh, I've never been any good at accumulating TV and I've had good seasons and bad seasons just the same.

Selling Salah because he's 4m expensive is hovering over minds of managers though.

TV can be very overrated but nothing is as bad as being 0.1 out on a desired move. Salah takes up a little bit too much budget imo but managers are getting away with it thanks to budget playing options such as AWB, Bednarek, Bennett, etc.

Ignoring TV at this point in time ... if you are at 103 or 104 then that is ok imho

There is such a good choice of budget players this year, out scoring the more expensive players, that means maintaining a high TV is largely an irrelevance and possible a hinderance 🙂

    2 FT, 0.0 ITB, playing for 31/33 (FH32, etc.)

    Rui / Guaita
    Robbo / Chilwell / Pereira / Digne / AWB
    Salah / Pogba / Rich / Son / DStephens
    Auba / Jimenez / Mitro

Any reason not to do Auba + Son -> Vardy + Mane?

Only concern is I'd have 3 LEI so I can't go Pogba -> Maddison (but there's still Gylfi or FAnderson)

Pogba a potentially better captain this week than Sterling or Hazard?

    1. waldo666
      • 15 Years
      7 years, 5 months ago

I reckon he just might be, I had planned on Aguero then thought Hazard as I will bring him in tomorrow but the more I think about it the more I think Pogs just might be the one.

      1. King Kohli
        • 13 Years

Pogba is heavily involved in Utds attack and I fancy them to score 2 or 3 vs Sou.
Hazard is very hit and miss but there is potential for a big haul vs manager less Fulham.
Sterling possibly playing false 9 is putting me off, otherwise I would captain him for sure.

        1. jia you
          • 9 Years

kind of agree with the false 9 bit, his finish can be lacking when faced with tap ins, then again he could have one of those games and score a shed load!

    2. jia you
      • 9 Years

I have all three also and it seems close, hopefully all with haul, but I think Sterling looks to have the biggest ceiling if City are on it!

        • 13 Years
        7 years, 5 months ago

He certainly does have the highest ceiling but City are not at their best and him potentially playing false 9 kind of makes me want to look elsewhere for a captain.

I still think there's going to be a strong Bench Boost team to create. Just did a quick mock up of a potential team:

      Foster - Ryan
      Holebas - Doherty - Duffy - Mendy - Kolasinac
      Pogba - Gross - KDB - Sterlling - Son
      Aubameyang - Jimenez - Deeney

First, it's a mock up team for a reason purely to show what you can get for a full 15 with a DGW.

Second, it's a Wildcard GW34 team (Liverpool play Chelsea) into a BB GW35 team (Liverpool don't have a double GW). In GW36 you'll have two free transfers to get Liverpool back in for the run home.

Alternatively, just replace KDB with Mane plus any of the defenders with TAA. Job done.

I think so. Watford, Brighton and Wolves all offer the perfect enablers to also fit in a premium attacker from 5 of the big 6. Pretty promising despite the fixtures not being absolutely ideal.

yep, good thing about them is the fixtures around doubles are also good, so DGWs are just bonus for them.

100%. It's handy that Liverpool have a tough fixture in GW34 too, so if you want to you can ignore them (or go lighter than you otherwise would) in your Wildcard and Bench Boost team if you choose.

That team I posted above is great for fixtures either side of the DGW, so it won't require much rejigging with only a few FTs remaining. Just Wolves assets to whoever you need in GW38 really.

And after looking at those fixtures and comparing with possible DGW32 fixtures, I might be forced to play FH in 32 and WC in 34 instead of WC in 32

I agree. I can understand why you'd be tempted to WC in 32, but I think it's too risky trying to line up the fixtures so far in advance of DGW35. The alternative is definitely safer, which of course doesn't necessarily mean better.

Well, there will always be a template but I think the variance in points may be quite big since not many obvious must-have picks.

i still think son+4 can outscore haz or mane between now and 33 so tend to advise against bringing him in for hit unless generally planning on taking hits before 31

Could have this team for -4, not sure GW31 is worth more than one hit for me personally. Can maybe fit one more defender in, any who play GW31 who are worth considering?

    Fabianski
    Robbo - Luiz
    Salah - Mane - Hazard - Maddison
    Vardy - Rondon

    A. Sterling for the next 2 gw’s, and Hazard for gw31....or
    B. Hazard this gw, forget Sterling

A or B? In both cases can get 11 for 31&33. In A need to play Digne (che) in gw31, in B can get Luiz (EVE). Thanks.

    Best richarlison replacement?
That guy has just been thorn in my side with no form like second half of last season.
    1) Maddison decent creator but barely any shots
    2) F Anderson ( completely fixture play as showing poor form)
    3) Almiron ( Good stats and fixtures but never had a fpl return in his life so could be that player who is good on pitch but not fpl)
    4) Other?
