Our contingent of former winners in the latest FFS Cup has already been more than halved by the first round results.

Joe, MCH, Gribude and A Manager Has No Name were all elminated at the first stage following Gameweek 28’s qualifiers.

In what proved a nightmare Gameweek 29 for most, only three of the ex-champions progressed to round three.

Joe was knocked out by Force Majeure by a 40-34 scoreline and MCH fell to True Deadzoner 41-33.

Gribude’s score of 44 was not enough to get past Mas7our‘s 56 while A Manager Has No Name was unfortunate to fall foul of one Gameweek 29’s 60+ scores.

He was taken out by Dodgy Keeper whose captaining of Gonzalo Higuain (£9.6m) earned him a score of 60 points.

Things went a little better for 2EyedTurk, who edged past Hasselbaink Forever by a score of 48-44.

Wild Rover‘s 50 points saw him eliminate Boris Bodega, who managed just 40.

donnellyc was fortunate enough to catch an opponent with one of the worst Gameweek scores in the first round. Bragazeti‘s 26 points ensured 31 was sufficient for the victory.

I've just been running some comparisons on various strikers over the last 6 gameweeks.
Suddenly I'm not so sure about Higuain over King for my last striker spot.

I already have Vardy, it's rare that there are so many options.
If there was actually a decent midfied around the £8.5m mark I would definitely go for King but i can't see anyone better than Fraser so it's King and Fraser/Maddison vs Higuain and Brooks.

This is a good point, he probably should have had more against Fulham as well.
I like the evening fixture against West Ham, I've never properly analysed it but I seem to do very well out of Monday night games.

Best midfield option with a budget of 6,2. I only gonna use this player for the GW 30, 31 and 33 because of FH 32 and wildcard 34. Right know i am on either Fraser or Brooks but i am open for other suggestions.

    A. Brooks

    B. Fraser

    C. ?

If you like playing the fixtures, it's worth considering recent performances and returns by attacking players from any team playing Cardiff. Adding to the interest is the fact a number of differentials have found their scoring potential in this fixture.

    GW27: Watford (a) vs Cardiff
    Deulofeu - 23 points
    Deeney - 15 points

    GW28: Everton (a) vs Cardiff
    Sigurdsson - 16 points
    Calvert-Lewin - 7 points

    GW29: Wolves (h) vs Cardiff
    Jota: 11 points
    Jimenez: 12 points

So one striker and (perhaps even more interestingly) one attacking midfielder in each of Cardiff's last 3 games (including 2 home matches for them) have scored at least one goal and scored an average of 14 points per player!

There appears to be a massive opportunity here, and these are the types of moves I have favoured all season - ignoring overcomplicated long-term plans and focusing entirely on immediate points potential. "But West Ham have a poor fixture in GW33 so I can't target Cardiff with a West Ham asset in GW30," I hear some people say. Why not!? West Ham two absolutely superb fixtures with a lot of points on offer, and I say worry about that not GW33.

Personally I'm bringing in Lanzini this GW as my big punt. I've already got Arnie and hoping desperately for a start. Lanzini fits the mould perfectly like Deulofeu, Siggy and Jota. In the case of the latter two players, I considered them for those matches because of the Deulofeu effort, but decided against bringing either of them in. This time, I'm going for it.

Indeed. I am fully expecting a riot to be honest. Cardiff are shipping goals for fun against everyone. In my opinion there is far too much passive play in FPL, waiting to see what happens rather than identifying an opportunity and making a move.

Will anyone really be surprised if West Ham put 3 or 4 past Cardiff? And then the Hammers are home to Huddersfield in BGW31.

this is what football needs. fearless attacking football.

think about it. if u r a coach of a pl, would u rather have 30 wins & 8 losses or 20 wins & 18 draws at the end of a season? do the maths

Is there a bigger hypocrite in the fantasy football community than Joe?

The amount of times we have heard him moan over the years and call people idiotic for making early transfers and everyone should disregard team value and wait until the latest possible time to makes transfers.

Unless it’s a GW that suits him, and then it all seems OK. Even when it’s near the end of the season and building team value is less important and there are midweek games.

I thought he was more critical of people celebrating price rises rather than people just making early transfers?

Mark has regularly moved early down through the years for example & I don’t ever really remember Joe being critical of he early transfer itself...

      I could be wrong though

Joe hasn’t just made comments, he’s full on ranted, about how idiotic it is for people to make early transfers. I’ve not heard much about the price rise celebration, just always moaning about how everyone should “do what he does” and wait all week to make transfers.

And then moans about players rising because people have made transfers early and he doesn’t want to have to do that but also he doesn’t want to lose value. Rather than realising he needs to play the game. Either stay safe and use the upper hand of extra information for waiting in transfers or take the risk, make early transfers and get the upper hand of extra value.

Although I love the slogan, I am not getting mad or anything as it doesn’t effect my game. I just find it ridiculous that he can make fun of people making early transfers all these years and then go and do it himself, multiple times.

If he ranted about people making early transfers but then stuck to making late transfers then I’d have respect for him, but the hypocrisy is very cringe worthy.

Maybe there is underlying history. Maybe he himself has been burned by early transfers so has an issue with them but deep down he can’t come to terms to admit publicly that there is a time and a place to mix it up during the season with some early transfers and some wait and see till just before deadline.
Joe - please come out and say there is a time and a place to mix it up with transfer decisions. Please stop Papa smurf from feeling blue. #Save Papa Smurf!

The issue I’ve had with early moves is:

      1. The over the top celebration of price rises as if they are actual points or goals going in.
      2. Making moves early when you have players involved in midweek / int matches.

While I prefer late moves in general I’ve never had a problem with someone making a risk free move early to avoid being locked out of a specific transfer. This week all my players get a rest so just risk of training ground injuries to deal with.

Always great to hear your rants but please do listen to mine more carefully 😉

From this I infer that you made an early transfer this week?

Were you not celebrating in the streets with a ticker tape parade at the 0.1 investment?

I can see both sides of the arguement..

Not at all - I’m very nervous about the move even though I have no players midweek. Not about building value just keeping myself in the running for a specific move. As said never had an issue with that.

My plan like many is to FH GW32 and load up on double gameweek players. It seems to have escaped me but I've noticed that currently only 2 teams have a double GW32. Are we anticipating more fixture changes which gives more teams a double GW32?

the only thing I can imagine is that Rafa thinks Almiron is a defensive liability so he's trying to balance that out by using a player that spends less time in the attacking third than Yedlin does.

From one angle clearly out. From another angle clearly in. Even with multiple camera angles it’s hard sometimes. Should have defended it better and wouldn’t have had to bother going to VAR

"clearly" lol. It would have been a farce if VAR ruled that goal out. If viewed from straight above I dont believe ball was 100% out. They cant rule goals like that out unless they implement goal line technology for the entire pitch.

    Fab
    TAA Digne Ake
    Salah Mane Haz Fraser/Brooks FA
    King Hig/Vardy

I'm a little stumped here and think if I write out the options, it will become clearer! I have 1FT and 7 currently playing in 31 (FH32). I'm looking at doing either 3 or 4 transfers to give me 10 or 11 for GW31. One of my transfers is a GK change (Guaita).

    My current Midfield is Salah/Mane/Pogba/Sterling/Puncheon.

Definitely selling Sterling/Puncheon next week to Hazard/Brooks. So my dilemma is Pogba to Lanzini this week for a hit and 11 players in GW31 or hold Pogba and go with 10 in GW31?

    Any advice appreciated! Cheers.

I don't understand unless +/- price changes means you miss out on target. Much rather another weeks data and 1 less game to get injured. Rather do all the hits on 31

Hmm well the issue is I'd like to get Fab in for Guaita but don't have the funds on a single trade so would have to bring in Boruc. If I move Pogba to Lanz, I can get Fab. Team below may help:

              Speroni/Guaita
              Rob/Pereira/Doherty/AWB/Luiz
              Salah/Mane/Pogba/Sterling/Puncheon.
              Jim/Barnes/Vardy

Boruc has better 31 33 fixtures and you should do Speroni>Boruc on chance Guaita comes straight back

Yeah alright! Thanks heaps for the advice all! Think I'll leave it as this:

                  GW 30 - Speroni -> Boruc

                  GW 31 - Sterling/Punch/Pog -> Haz/Brooks/Lanzini.

                  Cheers all 🙂

It’s actually better to use them next week rather than spreading them out if the players you’re replacing are a chance of getting points this week.

Don't sell Pogba unless you bought late and I'd want him back for DGW 32

I never got round to moving Digne on and he is proving quite useful. Clean sheets in the last two, decent fixture this week and plays the blanks!

Another 70 minute+ outing tonight suggests Poch gave him little rest before Southampton game, always a chance but I reckon he will start at weekend

      100% A
Pogba has 15 attacking returns in his last 12 games and is up against Southampton.
Jimenez plays a Chelsea side who have conceded 3 goals in their last 9 home games.
