After a bruising Gameweek 29, the Scoutcast soldiers are ready to wage war on the remaining fixtures of 2018/19.

Helping them out is regular listener FPL Reuser, who has come up with a cunning plan for Fantasy Premier League success that involves collecting a strong armoury of sturdy shields and razor-sharp swords.

Joe, David, Luke and Andy discuss the best shields, which are high-owned players needed for protection against red arrows. Also covered are the finest swords, which refers to low-owned players with the perfect combination of points potential and solid fixtures.

Getting the right combination in place may well be the Holy Grail of Fantasy management that the Scoutcast has been searching for over the last decade.

Our merry band of podcast pugilists also find time to look ahead to the upcoming blank fixtures in Gameweeks 31 and 33 with a focus on the best Liverpool and Bournemouth assets to own.

While Az couldn’t attend due to other commitments, he did find time to drop by in the YouTube chat during this episode’s live streaming to set us straight about the Everton defence.

Elsewhere, David lays into Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo and reveals how a discarded plastic bag is now dictating his transfer decisions.

The Scoutcast troops also mull over the key decisions facing them in Gameweek 30, including the best differential ‘swords’ to acquire, the likeliest clean sheets and their transfer and captaincy plans.

Finally, this episode ends by flagging up the work of the charity Anthony Nolan, which carries out fantastic work saving the lives of people with blood cancer.

This follows the news from community member FPL Poker Player that his daughter was diagnosed with leukaemia last year. Although in remission, she still needs a bone marrow transplant. People can help support the work of Anthony Nolan by making a donation or signing up to be a bone marrow donor via their website

Well, yes for a hit but I’ll get 12 players without hits, so no point getting both for a hit. It’s one or the other.

So we, as Englishmen should all hate Germans, as obviously, they think and act the same way as those who committed horrific atrocities 'back in the day?'

Cockney geezer on a stag do in Dublin said "Alwite Paddy, where's the club with all the girls at?" Needless to say I directed him and his mates to the nearest gay nightclub. I think it's more to do with stuff like that

lansdowne - perhaps im overstating the point as obviously british interests were advanced by the UVF but irish question in mid 20th century, as i understand, was more materially an unsolvable constitutional problem between religious sectarian groups (relating to british rule yes but in a slightly more abstract way than pre 20th century)

    Morning DZ or evening, afternoon...hello.

I need advice. 10 players for 31, next week I sub one of 4 to make 11. These are:

    A) Jimenez 6.3m SV 6.9m AV - 0.6m diff
    B Pogba 8.4m SV 9m AV - 0.6m diff
    C) Kane 12.4m
    D) Lindelof 4.9m SV 5.1m AV

Now I was all set to do Jimenez > Wilson/Barnes, but is that too risky? Kane might have Brighton (H) Huddersfield (H) if millwall can take out Brighton at the den, giving me a lovely differential with 0 transfers. I must stress I have used WC & BB so i'll be using TC in 35 so every transfer is precious. My TV is 107.3m so not lacking there.

Logic suggests I do Lindelof to Smith of Bournemouth, or simply do Kane to Vardy (have Hazard) so I'm not benching 12.4m. I'm 14 points behind my ML leader who has all chips + WC, he will be keeping Jimenez no doubt and also has Pogba. I want Barnes or Wilson, should I risk it or just get one of them for Kane? Lindelof > Smith means 5-4-1 and feels safe.

If you've got this far many thanks and all the best to you!

I’d sell Lindelof, probably to Chilwell providing you don’t own any other Leicester defenders...

        Lloris Boruc

        Pogba Mane Salah Hazard Hayden
        Kane Jimenez Rondon

Anyone else likely going w/o Hazard for the BGWs? Just an extra possibly unnecessary hit for me, and think I'd rather do
    A) Sterling to Mane(ful)
    than
    B) Sterling to Hazard(eve)

Full team linked, but current blanks team, if all else goes to plan, will look something like:

    Fabs/Boruc
    Robertson Pereira (MAYBE another def)
    Salah Mane Anderson Brooks(?)
    Higuain Wilson

    1. bigbudgie

Hazard is so hit and miss. My only contention is that I'd rather have double LIV defence (TAA and VVD) than Mane as an extra in midfield so getting Hazard via Sterling is the obvious option.

That is a good point, and was tempted by Doherty to TAA instead of getting Mane.

However, Mane and Salah vs Fulham kinda seems too good to pass up? IDK. and I could see EVE frustrating CHE

Im keeping rashford another week and then getting wilson if hes fit, king if not

    2. JohnnyMagrinho

I'd like to compile a list of possible Gameweek 31 players that look worth having for the bgw.

    Can you add to it?

LIV - Salah, Mane, Robertson, TAA, VVD

    BOU - King, Fraser, Brooks

    FUL - nobody

    LEI - Vardy

    NEW - Schar

WHM - Fabianski, Antonio, Rice, Anderson, Arne

    EVR - Digne

    CHS - Luiz, Hazard

    BUR - Barnes

    HUD - nobody

Also how many players are you planning to have for Gwk 31? I'm thinking 9 with one hit.

    1. Balls of Steel
      • 10 Years

      West Ham - Lanzini
      Leicester - Barnes

hello dz, mini-repost as I'm kinda struggling with whom I should bring in for my 2 FTs:

got 3 FTs until gw 31, but it feels weird to drop either of Son/Sterling/Aguero to achieve my gw 31 team.

    Fab, Steele
    TAA, Luiz, Doherty, Pereira, AWB
    Salah, Sterling, Son, Pogba, Gunnarsson
    Aguero, Jimenez, Barnes

    0.2itb.

    My gw30 current plan is
    Out: Son & Gunnarsson
    In: Maddison & Brooks

    gw31 plan is -4:
    Out: Sterling & Aguero
    In: Mane/Hazard & Higuain

Feels strange to take out Son before a Southampton fixture. Any other recommendations?

    Thanks!

2 FTs and I feel okay with my squad for GW30 except Etheridge with lack of save points and CS lately.

    Etheridge (WHU)
VVD - Robbo (BUR) - AWB (BHA)
Sterling (WAT) - Salah (BUR) - Son (sou) - Pogba (ars)
Aguero (WAT) - Rondon (EVE) - Jimenez (che)

Sub : Doherty (che) , Puncheon (BOU) , Bednarek (TOT)

What should I do first with GW31 in mind that I now have just 4 players with fixtures to play ?

A : Etheridge -> Boruc .. not sure about getting Bournemouth GK on a week they play away game
B : Jimenez -> King .. but it looks like Wolves and Jimenez can score against any team and BOU are poor away lately
    C : Son -> Maddison .. FUL (H) looks great
    D : Son + Jimenez -> Maddison + Vardy (if fit) .. double attack for FUL (H)
    E : Ether + Son + Jimenez -> Boruc + Maddison + Higuain

How would you go with it?

    Fab Button
    TAA Lindelof Doherty Pereira AWB

          Yeah
You've got Hazard in there so it's difficult. Same problem for me as I've got Higuain & can't fit Vardy in as lack of funds.
I think if you don't have too much value in Pogba,
Pogba+Rash+Camarasa >> Higuain+Brooks+ Maddison can also work. (I personally won't sell pogba though as it'll cost me 0.5m)

City, Chelsea and United assets going to be popular over the double GW. Has anyone mocked up a Higuain-Aguero-Lukaku-Hazard team yet? I'm gonna see if I can fit it into my work day 😉 CPL could potentially be good fillers too if HUD new becomes their DGW

In fact making sure I have the TV to fit in those big hitters could make or break my transfer strategy for 31/33. Has to be about the bigger overall picture and points gained over 4/5/6 GWs, not only one or two.

I don't think I'd want to tbh. Doesn't seem like the most efficient way to spread funds considering you can only have one big hitter as captain.

      ?
you only need 11 for a free hit, so trash on the bench
Look at the potential doubles, what other teams players would you really want?

My team value isn't great, so it wouldn't be possible for me to go with three big hitters + Higuain and whilst having triple Chelsea, United and City. If you can, then great, but in my case I think it makes more sense to spread the funds.

Free hitting 31 and am eyeing up to have this side in 32:

      Ryan (Guita)
      Laporte/Luiz AWB Bednarek Doherty (Trent)
      Haz Sterling Pogba Deulofeu (Camarasa)
      Kun Higuian Rashford

Sterling instead of Lukaku but I've got Rashford.
Bench one of AWB Doherty and Bednarek.
Guita starts if he regains starting job at Palace
      Looks quite nice to me.
