G-Whizz’s RMFHT

Let me start off by saying this is a first draft; obviously decisions on who makes the final cut will be made nearer the deadline and of course IB injuries permitting..

Kepa (Stekelenburg)

Luiz, Laporte, Schlupp and AWB

Hazard, Sterling(C), Pogba

Rashford, Kane, Aguero (VC)

Bench: Stephens, Romeu and Simpson

The Remainers:
Only Luiz, Laporte, Pogba, and Aguero make it into the first draft and will more than likely make the final cut too.

The Exiteers:
Fabianski, Steele, van Dijk, Robertson, Evans, Mané, Maddison, Fraser, Anderson, King, Vardy and Success.

By Position

Goalkeepers
Kepa makes the comes in as I go for a Chelsea defensive double up. Stekelenburg was brought in for Steele who looks as if he could drop in price so why take the risk? Never know when you might need that £0.1m on a Free Hit…

Defenders
AWB and Schlupp come in to double up the Crystal Palace defence, chance Schlupp could deliver attacking returns too.

Luiz completes the Chelsea defensive double up. I’m not entirely convinced with Chelsea’s current form but Cardiff and Brighton is too hard to refuse. Decent chance of at least one clean sheet there imo.

Laporte completes the four man back line as the first part of a Manchester City triple up.

Midfielders
Can’t see my FH team going without either Sterling (possible Captain) or Hazard, surely everyone and their dog will have those two. Pogba (another Remainer) makes up my trio in midfield.

Forwards
Aguero is another holding strong claims for the armband. Kane is Kane, could do anything, score a brace against Liverpool and blank against Crystal Palace! Who knows with Spurs at the moment, I think some will have to choose between him and other big hitters but for now, he can stay. Rashford slots in nicely and could be nice value…

Original team value: £107.1m
Free Hit team value: £105.7m (ITB: £0.2m)

Obviously some things will change (news on rotation, injuries etc.) and new ideas will no doubt come to the fore, but as a first draft it’ll do for now. Will still be tinkering right through the International Break and see where and what we end up with 🙂

Conclusion

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Where have I gone wrong, and where have I gone right?

What do you suggest I change? Feel free to let me know in the comments!

If he is declared fit, I would rather downgrade Bernardo to enable Rashford. Of course that is just me, if you intend of going 4-4-2 regardless, up to you.

Not keen on double palace defense. That haven’t kept that many cs recently. Huddersfield are now playing freely like a team that have no more pressure since they know they are relegated. Don’t think they are a given cs anymore.

9.1M to spend on 2 defenders who will start:

    - Preferably with two fixtures
    - Cannot be from City
    - Already have a Palace defender, so no double-up unless forced to

    Tomkins/Duffy perhaps?

I am interested in neither Wolves not Watford players, bearing in mind the rotation possibilities due to the FA Cup semis.

Tough parameters... maybe at that price Duffy/Tomkins is the best you're getting. Cathcart might also be a differential to consider?

      Shaw/Lindelöf & Valery

      1. Lionel Ronaldo
        7 years, 4 months ago

I was told Shaw is one yellow card away from suspension.
Lindelof could become a father anytime, including during the DGW.
While I can understand the Valery pick based on form, he has no DGW.

I would probably pick Boly and Valery. Boly hasn´t been rested in PL so far this season (he missed two starts following a red card in December). Valery could be a great option, considering price vs points potential - scored in the last two PL games, could get attacking returns even if he only started one game in 32.

      1. Lionel Ronaldo
        7 years, 4 months ago

I duly acknowledge both of your points. Yet, I do not feel confident about these.

I think your options are extremely limited with the the 9.1 budget and handcuffs you've put on, something has to give.

          1. Lionel Ronaldo
            7 years, 4 months ago

That is the price to pay to have a near-perfect (from my perspective) squad elsewhere...

Dunk & Duffy (though gives you a Brighton double up). Both have goal threat, should play against S’ton, and if their is rotation against Chelsea (not a huge risk for CBs imo, then it would only be one)

      1. Lionel Ronaldo

Assuming Lindelof becomes a father and Bissaka isn't declared fit, I might have to do:
    Lindelof/Bissaka/Montoya ---> Schlupp/Tomkins/Duffy.

Surely feels like a downgrade, yes?

    1. LSK

On paper, but over 2 games I don't think it matters. All it takes is a Duffy goal and a Palace clean sheet and you're up.

        7 years, 4 months ago

Fair point, but it's more a matter of hope than confidence.

I have Schlupp over Bissaka though

And the problem is Lindelöf not becoming father imo. Will he travel in that case? His missus isn't happy if he is not with her in labour and didn't let him play for Sweden abroad.

      1. Lionel Ronaldo
        7 years, 4 months ago

Personally I think Schlupp's attacking potential is over-rated. I like to think Bissaka's bonus potential is as good.

Can you do just AWB to Schlupp?
Lindelof will only miss one match max,

      1. Lionel Ronaldo
        7 years, 4 months ago

Thing is, I have value tied to Bissaka. I have him since GW1, so it's as if I have bought him at 4M. Selling him only gives me 4.2M, so no direct change to Schlupp.

Also, how can you confidently say Lindelof will miss only a game? Are you the Obstetrician? 🙂

When Kane was injured, Son was the striker (and got attacking returns week after week). Kane has started in the last four gameweeks - Son has four consecutive blanks.

I would choose Alli, he could benefit when Kane attracts attention.

Risk with Deeney and Deulo is the very real rotation risk, so I'd consider looking for alternatives there, but I imagine it might be hard to squeeze the cash out from that team.

Thoughts on Kane? Is he worth the premium for the double, or does he hinder the balance and structure of the team too greatly? 12.5 is A LOT and the funds can be dispersed amongst the other 10 players quite effectively.

He's good to have, but at 12.5 like you say when the funds can bedispersed to have for example two good players over one, i'd avoid, just so costly, and for that price, he needs to pull it out the bag, can't rely on Harry to do that with confidence imo.

    6. LSK
      • 8 Years

I expect 10-16 points from Kane. You can make 2-3 upgrades in your team without him. Some upgrades will beat that and some won't. Some upgrades will score less than the enablers people are bringing in to afford Kane. It can't be helped or predicted over a 2 game period. Having the right/lucky combination of Dilva, Bilva, Sane, Eriksen, Alli, Son and Lukaku, Higuaín, Rashford will outscore Kane and Deu/Milli. But there's plenty of combinations that won't. I expect a lot of Kane teams to significantly outscore Kaneless teams and vice versa but I don't think there's a right or wrong answer, or a perfect combination of players you can bring in to replace him.

    7. Dank Squid

Away game vs Liverpool, best defense in PL. Sure, he scored a brace against them last season, but Lovren was a starter in that game.

Trickier to predict the game vs Palace. Spurs won 1-0 in both games last season (Kane scored the winner in the away game but blanked in the home game).

I´m predicting max two goals in this GW.

Personally I would go Son due to potential for explosiveness. If he doesn't pass the eye test for you recently then Eriksen because at least he has some set pieces.

Eriksen has blanks in the last four (even if Kane has started in all of those). Son stopped scoring as soon as Kane made his comeback. Alli feels like the "dark horse" - not his best season so far, but got an assist in the last GW having just returned from injury, could get space to exploit if the opponents are marking Kane out.

Assuming Rash and Lukaku are really injured, how does this look?

    Kepa;
    Laporte, Shaw, Schlupp;
    Sterling, Hazard, Pogba, Son;
    Aguero, Higuain, Jimenez.
Bench: Hamer; Bacuna, Simpson, Peltier. £0.0 itb.

Basically consists of 3x City and Che (def + mid + str) core along with some likely point scorers from the rest. Son is my least confident pick and is Shaw injured?

I would be worried that both Higuain and Jiminez are possible rotation risks but if you're happy taking that chance then they're both certainly good options while on the field.

Thanks both and yeah Higuain is a gamble but I figure if he's got a reputation as a flat track bully then now is the time for him. Jimi I'm confident on because of their lack of striker options and he's on fire.

Could switch Son + Jimi/Higuain for another mid + Rash/Lukaku if they are fit?

Probably. If the TV is low and you want the big hitters you’ll need some duds. Drop Alonso/Rico to Luiz/Foster or Ryan and it looks good. Camarasa has tough fixtures but on set pieces and at his price probs best option

Exactly this, with a sale value of 103m there's going to have to be some compromises. That's a good suggestion, and if AWB is ruled out it'll give me enough to upgrade to Schlupp as well. Regarding Camarasa, if Chelsea/City lose their clean sheet against Cardiff, there's a good chance that Camarasa is involved in the goal, so it should even out.

Yea I had him in my actual side for ages and got 16pts from him the 3 games he autosubbed in. If cash is tight and you don’t want to compromise elsewhere camarasa is a good enabler.

          Rico plays for Fulham.

          AWB is injured.

Alonso is likely to lose his place.

Camarasa has ongoing injury concerns and needs his entourage to pass him fit.

Jimi will only play 1 game.

          Start again.

          1. Rover
            • 9 Years

See below. At 4.4m, between Rico and Ryan I see neither keeping even one clean sheet, so it's purely down to save points. So you're talking about who's more likely to get 3 saves per 2 goals conceded.

Until pressers, AWB is "injured". And I can't remove him since I've had him from the start of the season yet so there's value tied in him, and if I want him back later, I won't be able to.

Ok this is probably where I'm admittedly being stubborn and hopeful. To me, and purely based on highlights, Chelsea did not look much better without Alonso. But also my first source of half a mil by changing to Luiz.

Last I checked, Camarasa has returned from injury, been cleared by his entourage and started the last two matches. Plus his coming off early was attributed by Warnock to cramps, so given a three week rest period, he should be fine. Again, pending pressers.

And this has no basis. Granted, there are rotation fears, but Jimi has got minutes in every single game of the season, including over the packed Christmas and New Year period. So I''m confident of 120+ minutes from him.

I'm not saying that's the best team you'll see on this sub, or that it will score the highest of all of them, but it was definitely serious and like Alpharius said a simple GK/Def change sorts out quite a bit for now till more info from pressers.

So no, tweaking definitely, but not starting again.

You don't lose value in AWB if you sell him on a FH. Your team reverts back to pre FH.

Yes you do for this week.
I bought for 4.0. Sold him this morning for 4.2m. Then tried to buy him back now. Will cost me 4.5m

However I will get him back in 33 at my original price when FH has ended.

That's a completely different (and obvious) scenario and not what the OP was referring to.

Why would you sell him on a FH if you were buying back on the same FH?

It's between Rico and Ryan at 4.4m. Neither is likely to keep a clean sheet anyway. So it comes down to who's more likely to get 3 saves for every 2 goals conceded?

Fair enough, personally prefer Ederson and Luiz but obviously opinion :). Feel with Stones, Ota, Kompany and possibly Mendy back... Laporte could be rested quite easily

True, but however Laporte is there only left-footed centre-back and city are going to want to win every game so I think he's a guaranteed starter but at the end of the day it is Pep

Yupp and Luiz always got a ping, free kick and more of a set piece from pens imo. Luiz could also be rotated for who knows why. Not gonna be straight forward at all :). Pedro is one of those imo... Gets either a solid 15 or awful 4

I’d second the Luiz/Ederson move. Totally see your point on Laporte, however the 0.2m to do it sitting there is calling to you...

Love it too. I’m currently on:
        Ederson
        Luiz, Smalling, Schlupp
        Sterling, Hazard, Pogba, Milivojevic
        Aguero, Kane, Jimenez

Luiz, Ederson over Kepa, Laporte... Deeney, Jota over Mili, Jimi and Lindelof to Smalling if possible

matter of taste ofc but how about swapping lindelöf for Schlupp (CP at home to hudds, schlupp OOP, Uniteds defense in general + Lindelöfs wife is expecting their first child in a couple of weeks) Azpi for Luiz and then maybe you could afford to make Jimi to Rashford (if fit, and you fancy it) ?

Not bad at all to say no FH. Got a TC and who you thinking?

I have it but can't be bothered to use it when my team is in such a good shape. Will go TC Sterling instead 🙂
