How the top 10k FPL managers set up for Blank Gameweek 33

The top 10,000 Fantasy Premier League managers are largely fielding full 11-man squads for Blank Gameweek 33.

Their careful planning over recent weeks means that they have got into that position without having to use chips en masse.

When we consider the most owned players among the game’s top players this season, there is a total of 12 assets with a fixture in Blank Gameweek 33.

That allows us to see some of the most common starting XIs for managers at this level.

In goal, Lukasz Fabianski (£4.7m) looks the favourite, despite West Ham’s woeful form.

It would appear that making changes to other areas of the team were more important in Blank Gameweek 33, while saves are probably a given in a match away at Chelsea.

Matt Doherty (£5.3m) has held onto his place, still commanding the backing of 40% of those inside the top 10,000.

Andrew Robertson (£6.8m), Trent Alexander-Arnold (£5.5m), Ricardo Pereira (£5.4m) and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£4.5m) are the other four members of the most popular defence, all of whom have either played already or have a fixture to come in Blank Gameweek 33.

Four midfielders follow the same story with Paul Pogba (£8.8m) the only one owned by more than 40% of the top 10k managers not to have a fixture in Blank Gameweek 33.

Eden Hazard (£11.1m) is the most popular at this end of the world rankings, sat in 79% of teams, while Mohamed Salah (£13.2m) and Sadio Mané (£10.1m) are both in 60%.

Ryan Fraser (£6.2m) set to host Burnley with his Bournemouth colleagues on Saturday, is the most popular budget choice with 40% of the top 10k in possession of him for Blank Gameweek 33.

Again, up front, it’s just one player without a fixture this weekend and, not surprisingly it’s Raúl Jiménez (£6.8m), who has been one of the best budget options this season.

Chances are, the top 10k are holding onto the Mexican ahead of further Double Gameweek action and are unwilling to take him out even for one week as he has risen in price so much since being purchased.

Jamie Vardy (£9.1m) has become the most popular forward option at this end of the world rankings, sat in 60% of teams inside the top 10k.

As you can see from the table above, very few managers in the top 10k played chips in this particular Gameweek.

Just 3.66% of them played their second Wildcard of the season, while even fewer, just 2.17% deployed the Free Hit chip.

That shows that they have been planning for this week for some time considering how many played their Free Hits for Double Gameweek 32.

By way of contrast, overall managers were not quite so well prepared for Blank Gameweek 33.

The most popular players going into this depleted round of action show three forwards without a fixture in Sergio Aguero (£11.8m), Marcus Rashford (£7.6m) and Jiménez.

In total, just nine of the 15 players are ones involved in Blank Gameweek 33.

Chips were largely not used overall either, Wildcards proving the most popular, with activations from 1.42% of managers.

That may be because ones such as the Free Hit and Triple Captain were used en masse in Blank Gameweek 31 and Double Gameweek 32.

We already saw that Hazard was the most commonly selected player among the top 10,000, but his effective ownership is even higher, currently at 126%.

He has a much more comfortable lead in the captaincy statistics at the top level as he did in the Fantasy Football Scout poll.

In that vote, he finished with 24.8% while Salah was just behind him on 23% and Mané on 22.2%.

Among the top 10k, Hazard has been captained by 46.1% for Blank Gameweek 33, Salah has been backed by 22.7% and Mané 13%.

I was wondering that. I think he's usually first choice but has just come back to full fitness so not sure if he'll play both.

He was in my first wc draft, but as I have Foster will probably go with Valery to spread the risk.

Too much of a rotation risk for me. For that money I would go with Mariappa instead. I can afford Cathcart so Im going with him for more goal threat.

    Morning all,
How is this WC draft ?
    Any changes you'd suggest?

    Ryan Foster
    Robbo taa Duffy Valery Laporte
    Raz Mane Doucoure Jota Jwp/Red
    Laca Kane Jimenez

Ryan will be Lloris in gw 35

I think Doucoure is a decent pick. I can only stretch to Delou as my fifth mid. Im going with Bilva and Kun instead of Laca and Sterling, I feel they'll get more minutes.

I was thinking about going all out attack with:

            Ryan Foster
            Robbo taa Duffy Valery Kola
            Raz Mane Deulofeu Jota Jwp
            Kun Kane Jimenez

But, yesterday's article put me off from City attacking double up

So i think i can tweak the team, it's only question of Aguero or Lacazatte

Looks good! We got many of the same players, but Im going without Liverpool defence and prefer Deulofeo to Docoure. Not convinced by Laporte eighter, Palace away and then a tricky DGW, they could concede in all 3 of them.

        5 years, 15 days ago

        Yeah.
I downgraded Kun to laca for getting Laporte actually.
        I can get below team:

        Lloris, Foster
        Robbo, Doherty, Duffy, Valery, Kola
        Raz, Mane, Deulofeu, Jota, Camarasa/Hojbjerg
        Kun, Kane, Jimenez

How many started both games in 32 ?

I would not go for Sterling, not keen on triple Wolves if they have an FA Cup final on their minds either

I am very tempted to go big in a 5 man defence (less rotation) with Kane Kun Mane as my main premiums ... after that the rest of the players similar to the likes of Jimenez, Deulofeu, JWP etc

I was looking at Trippier but they have a lot of games and I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that Walkers-Peters could play the 2nd double fixture against Brighton. There’s also a bigger risk of Aurier returns.

I personally think Salah is a lot better option than Mane. The issue you have is that it would affect your bench. I am not sure Doucoure is a strong enough 3rd mid. I would want to fit a player such as Son in. Robbo/Doucoure/Laporte/JWP to Kola/Son/Hoijberg might get you a large way there.

The draft does look good to me.

Just had a look, Arsenal haven’t kept a single clean sheet away from home all season in the PL. 4 of the next 6 are away games.

    Might reconsider getting Kola/Leno

Probably going to get Kola for attacking returns. Leno doesn't get many saves so can't rely on save points

Kolasinac attacking threat is amazing, but as you say they just can't keep a clean sheet. I'll never pick a defender only based on attacking returns, so I'm avoiding Arsenal defence.

I've had Martial for a long period this season (when everyone els had Pogba) and wouldn't recomend it.

First there's uncertaincy if he starts, then he's on the team sheet, you get happy, he plays well but can't convert it into FPL points, limps of after 63 or 74 minutes, yellow flagged, no news from manager on presser, anxious wait for line-up...repeat for 33 gameweeks.

Is it worth keeping any Pool defence on WC? Don't think their recent defensive record justifies near 7M on Robbo & I'm now concerned about TAA's minutes after last night.

Dont think budget is a huge issue in WC34 as there are loads of budget mids/fwds available and the big names are having rotation risks. Therefore I dont mind keeping LIV defense as a shield.

Thanks Karan. Now at OR because of Salah & TAA on my WC 563 🙂

I just have Sterling. I prefer Kane for the run over Kun. And Son over any other mid. Gunn/Ryan/Leno look better options in defence. Laporte or even Mendy are good options. But I couldn't fit him in as he had a blank. I will probably live without him now I don't own him. I see United scoring in the double and that reduces the risk for me. Although if Mendy is nailed he may well come in for me.

Yup I'm looking at a very similar wildcard team. Still not sure about Sterling though. Tough fixtures and rotation risk is putting me off but I do want some City attacking cover for the last 2-3 gameweeks.

For me if he explodes I am in trouble. I think he will at some point. He is a bit of a shield for me. I think Salah will outscored him even with 1 less fixture. I don't think it is crazy to side with the likes of Eriksen/Salah/Son/Hazard ahead of him.

Yup I agree his ownership & explosions are a problem. I have been on both sides of it so I know how good or bad it can be for the rank. Agree with definitely prefer the Spurs mids & Salah over him.

Triple up on Spurs as Hud home and DG35 is good.
Too much uncertainty with Kun injury IMO and minutes can be limited for Sterling too.
Normally Laporte all day long but fixtures are a problem. Kola less expensive but all his away games put me off.

It could be close. The fixtures are terrible on paper which may lead Pep to being less open. Pulling off a few 1-0, 2-0 results. Still the attacking side of Kola would make me side with him.

I have Sterling. I am sure he will pop up with one or two strong performances over the run. He will be highly owned. He is a shield for me. I am happy to gamble with Kane over Kun for the other premium spot.

Kane and Son. Easy answer for me. Both. They are both coming in for a hit this week for me.

      Foster Ryan good IMO.
TAA and Mane good forward thinking.
Duffy and Doherty ok if not BB in 35.
Maybe Trippier over Vertonghen. He plays against fodder but rotated against better sides.
I agree with no Citeh backs.
      I prefer Son over Erik.
Kun is a risk but can get great rewards. Citeh have crap fixtures but they are the best.

Thx, I’ve tried to favour more nailed on players as last gwk was trash for me.

I’m concerned son won’t play in the easiest games

TC. I have played my BB. If on a WC I would advise setting up a decent bench and using that chip ths only issue is that there are not lots of great 35 fixtures around for a BB.

Yeh it’s tough. Think I prefer Laporte in that Vertonghen spot.
