Liverpool’s formation change earlier this season holds the key to whether Mohamed Salah (£13.2m) deserves a place in Wildcard squads for Double Gameweek 34.

After going six Premier League matches without a goal, the Egyptian finally found the net against Southampton in Blank Gameweek 33 – just in time to cause a dilemma for managers overhauling their teams.

Judging by the relief he showed at St Mary’s on Friday night, there is a case to be made that Salah could now return to his incredible points-scoring form from earlier in the campaign.

However, we have uncovered a few tactical factors that could have a bigger impact on his chances of impressing between Gameweek 34 and the end of the season.

As we have used data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members’ Area, only members can read on to enjoy our analysis.

Now that we are past the half-way stage, memberships are now available for just £10, so make sure you get the most of it while you can by signing up HERE.

Duffy, Valery, Jimi, Foster/ Ryan, and (reluctantly) Kane

The rest can be filled from a number of different combos depending on bias, risk appetite and OR!

I do get Vardy is on form, but why so many people going with him over Murray (BOU, CAR) this week? Am I missing anything?

It’s just one week. He also did quite nicely as Sgw player in 32. He’s the forward I’d want most if there were no DGW.

(Incidentally I scored more in 33 than 32 thanks to Hazard and Vardy.)

    3. Don Kloppeone

Murray’s minutes in a DGW are always uncertain. That’s prob the key reason

Now that's something I haven't considered. So is he really usually rested?

He has had cameos or managed minutes several times this season. In the last DGW he played 90+20

He’s also not the youngest so physically it’s harder for him!

As I said above, that's something I hadn't considered. Is he really unlike to play both games even if they're at home?

Regarding the other comments about his minutes... he may or may not get both games, but looking at his goal potential then over the last 16 GW's (so half the season so far) he is averaging 2.3 PPG, and over the last 6 GW's he is averaging 2 PPG. Whereas Vardy is at 5.8PPG over 16 GW's and 9.2PPG for 6 GW's... I am happily sticking with Vardy who I have had for a handful of GW's 🙂

Wanted to get an idea of which players do we consider nailed for the dgw, especially strikers.

    1) Kane - I think nailed for both games...shoo in for my team
    2) Jimenez - Slightly uncertain with wolves nothing to play for. Typically Nuno rotates doherty/jimmy when they have 3 games in a week...less reason to rotate now they have nothing left to play for? Alternatively, he could be looking to give gametime for others?...at the moment, he is in my team but open to change
    3) Arsenal strikers --- really confused about them. good fixtures. dont have any mids we can choose from. views on their nailedon ness?
    4) Murray and Deeney? -- i mention this coz i could ignore an arsenal striker as instead opt for murray in dgw34 and shift him for deeney in dgw35....both are on the wrong side of 30s but both important to their teams, both take pens and should have high goal involvement. Another aspect worth considering is whether deulofeu is better proposition then deeney
    5) Rashford -- equally tempting option but planning to have pogba and reluctant to have a double up givne their form/fixtures. I think Rashford could be an option if i want to move Deeney in gw37
    6) Aguero --- given the options and presence of sterling...i think he is less appealing but then again, due to the tough fixtures..pep might start him in both and manage minutes

Based on the above, i am leaning towards:
    A: Kane + Jimmy + Auba
B: Kane + Jimmy + Murray (then Deeney in dgw35)

Best GK combo on the WC?

    1) Ryan and Foster
    - Foster is pretty much a certainty as he has good save and bps potential
    - Ryan isnt comparing favourably on baps relative to duffy/dunk
    - Rotation wise, the rotation works great apart from gw37 when they play arsenal and chelsea away respectively

    Other options include
    2) Foster + Lloris...but that would mean benching foster in gw36-38. this option costs 1m more then the 1st option but would mean good fixtures till end of season

    3) Gunn + Foster...works well too but is gunn nailed? plus valery a better value option?

      Lloris and Gunn for me.
Lloris until the end with good fixtures, Gunn will only be used in BB35, when Southampton have nice fixtures.
Gunn is also very cheap. Southampton also have nice fixtures the rest of the season, so if for some reason Lloris gets injured or rotated, Gunn can easily fill his spot.

Shouldn't Ederson be considered as an option also? Lloris takes 3rd Spurs slot which is a negative factor for him. City has been tighter lately.

Current WC below. Reckon it’s worth starting with an extra BHA player (Dunk/Murray) and using FT in 35 to switch to Holebas/Deeney, or just stick with the below plan?

    RYAN
    DUFFY, Trent, Doherty
    Sterling, Son, Mane, Jota
    Kane, Jimenez, Deeney

    Foster, JWP, Kolasinac, Holebas
    Bank 1.8m

35: 1FT to put out any fires
    36: Sterling -> Salah

I'd probs bench bednarek for gw34, not a fan of benching Robbo and Doherty has more attacking threat

    Camasara > Hojbjerg for gw35

What is the tough on Murray and then upg to Deeney next gw?

+ No game in the entire season with 0 minutes
    + Doubles
    + Nice fixtures

    - Murray
    - Need to waste transfer (instead of rolling and transferring Salah in for free 36)
    - Increased bench headache GW 34

Yea, think so. A lot of injuries and they would want to cement themselves way above the relegation line

Not a given - he only got a match in 28/9 because Andone pulled up injured in the warm up.

Brighton have scored 8 goals in their last 8 and that includes 4 home fixtures and a match v Huddersfield and Fulham and only one top 6 opponent.

Considering points potential and how nailed on they are, who is the better option? (Money no issue)

    A) Erisken
    B) Son

    Cheers.

A for minutes, B for explosiveness. Im going with both.

Eriksen the better option if money isn't a problem imo, just have a look at their recent stats, plus more nailed on

Having said that, I'm still going Son coz of money..

Ideally both. If both played equal minutes then i’d favour Son. Yet that won’t be the case (unless YC for Son + out of Champions League etc) hence Eriksen is the better pick at this point in the season. He has also produced his double-digit hauls at home this season albeit different stadiums.

Glenner switching to Laca in 35 or just go for Son from 34.

Was on 1st but now leaning to latter as less future transfer planning.

Was one goal from Salah enough for people to get back on that wagon? I think his overall performance against Saints were awful, just as bad as his previous 7-8 games, while Mané looked dangerous and should have scored at least one goal.

loving the yoshida pick, tempted by him too

I have fond memories of Yoshida a few seasons ago- BPS magnet and scored the odd goal. Southampton look good with him back in the side aswell. Valery best option then I can’t decide between Bednarek/Yoshida if I’m totally
        honest mate.
