Captains

Captain poll wide open for Double Gameweek 35

We are set for another wide open captaincy debate for Double Gameweek 35 of Fantasy Premier League.

There are a number of teams with two fixtures, but very few of those are particularly appealing – so it’s possible that Fantasy managers may have to turn to single Gameweek options.

You can now vote in our latest poll embedded below or in the sidebar.

Manchester City have arguably two of the hardest meetings of the season in their attempt to retain the Premier League title.

First, they host Spurs before travelling to face their city rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The form of Raheem Sterling (£11.5m) could see him receive some attention but his record in matches against the top-six and the fact that he remains a rotation risk may put people off.

Likewise, Sergio Aguero‘s (£11.7m) chances of starting both Double Gameweek 35 matches seem low at this stage, especially as his services will probably be required in midweek Champions League action.

For the same reason, options such as Son Heung-min (£8.8m) could be hard to captain, considering he was named on the bench in Spurs’ Double Gameweek 34 win over Huddersfield.

Manchester United are in a similar position as they must travel to Everton, who have five clean sheets in their last seven, and host in-form Manchester City.

Arguably, the team with the best set of fixtures in Double Gameweek 35 is Wolves as they host Brighton and Arsenal.

Neither of their next two opponents have been particularly strong on their travels this season, while Wolves themselves have won four of their last five at Molineux, scoring 12 goals and conceding five times in that run.

That could see Raúl Jiménez (£6.9m) or even Diogo Jota (£6.2m) trusted with the armband by those looking for a pragmatic differential option.

Watford also have some appealing fixtures with a trip to Huddersfield and a home meeting with Southampton.

However, with Troy Deeney (£5.9m) now suspended and Gerard Deulofeu‘s (£5.6m) fitness situation currently unclear, backing the Hornets may prove difficult.

Arguably, the most attractive fixture of Double Gameweek 35, is Liverpool’s trip to Cardiff.

The Bluebirds have conceded at least two in seven of their last eight league matches, while the Reds are fresh off the back of defeating Chelsea 2-0.

They may only have one fixture in Double Gameweek 35, but the case for captaining either one of Mohamed Salah (£13.2m) or Sadio Mané (£10.1m) will be strong.

    Eriksen + Deeney -> Moura + Firmino (-4)

Not expecting another Moura haul or chasing points, just trying to maximise my BB again and get my team in shape for the run in.

I looked at the same move but would need a -8 as need to downgrade Duffy to someone like Yoshi to free up funds.

      Would do for -4.

What has happened to Rashford's game time lately? Is he fairly safe to start both fixtures? I'm on hols so a bit out of touch and dealing with Deeney disaster

He will start tonight, so not 100 % he will start both in the doubles. He is first choice, but a lot of fixtures atm.

    Vardy + Deeney to:

    A. Laca + Wilson
    B. Auba + Long/Ings
    C. Just Deeney > Wilson and keep vardy

You never know with Emery but if Laca gets subbed off early (nailed on to start) in the UEL, I'd do A otherwise C.

    1FT, 2.6 ITB. Planning on BB35.

Recommended changes? Thinking of going Deeney > Rashford with my FT but would also like to get rid of Duffy/Siggurdson (would require a hit though!)

    Lloris – Foster
    TAA – Laporte – Doherty – Duffy – Valery
    KDB – Son – Eriksen – Jota – Siggurdson
    Aguero – Jimenez – Deeney

Yeah I'm looking at him or Ings as a Deeney replacement. Have only 5.9m so not many options in that price bracket.

Very true, I'm probably getting him. Despite his heavy touches he was at least getting in those positions. Those fixtures are too good to ignore. Still holding out on the longshot of Deeney's red being rescinded though.

    4. ㅤRising

Will he play both? Last time when Deeney was out preffered up top were Deulofeu and Succes, Ings will most likely not start both, last time he got injured Soton boss said playing 2 games in four days was probably trigger. Shane Long 4.6, will start one come one just like Ings, and you wouldnt waste a transfer on him to get rid. Toughts ?

i see watford have a few injureies/niggles. Deu and perrarya missed last game. Success has 1 goal in 1000 mins. I see Gray starting the first and if he does well he will play the second. Could just get a tap in or penalty V hudders.

We dont know if hes on pens or not, we dont know if he is gonna start both or not, all that for a price of 5.9. If he was 4.5 that would be worth it, but being 5.9 you will use 2 transfers on him in and out in gw36-7

What we do know is that he is fully fit and a number of other watford attackers aren't. He is playing huddersfield, scored some important goals in the fa cup run, if he does well you might keep him for gw36, or could be your first sub.

Just can't do that in today's society though, can you? It was clearly just a misjudged and stupid attempt at being funny, rather than him coming out of the closet as a fascist sympathiser. But if he admits that it was a silly mistake then by 7pm there's a 'Twitterstorm', people are 'outraged' and calling for the club to take action, and by the next morning he's lost his job.

I'm just about getting thru the trauma of that WC disaster zone..... the tears have cleared enough for me to survey the damage.

A paltry 47 scored (Duffy / Ryan / Camerasera left)
Lacazette no show paving the way for the Deeney -2
Deeney now likely to miss the games he was brought in for
Holebas out (my bad on missing that flag)
    Valery flagged.

    Omnishambles indeed!!!

    Other defenders are:

Foster C plans, anyone? Should play both and 1 cs more likely than 0.

Do people really think Brighton will keep a clean sheet in GW36 at home to Newcastle? To me, it feels unlikely.

Therefore, I predict a greater score from your Brighton defenders this week than next. And as such, BB is a better option.

2 points from 36 might beat 2 games with goals conceded.

So whoever goes out tomorrow re Spurs and City will make their assets a lot more likely nailed for the double and hence better captain options? They would have nothing else to rest for and plenty to play for...

I would say that is true for Man City but not really sure about Spurs being reliable if they go out of the CL

Surely the WC people played this week was aimed at 35 ... not 34 ? Not sure it can be labelled a disaster quite yet 🙂

Wasn’t that just an added bonus though and an easy double up with the 35 BB ?

No one wants Brighton for 35. I'm selling both dunk and Duffy.

            Really ?

Duffy will happily be my third sub rather than a precious transfer .... a goal from a set piece can come against anyone and wasn’t the whole hype about having him was the 2 x doubles ? .... why all of a sudden has his goal threat attractiveness disappeared after just one game so much that he should be sold ?

            Strange indeed 🙂

I'm on BB, would much rather have a Watford defender in their place. Should be worth a - 4 easily on average. Of course if benching without BB you keep.

I am BB too but no way will I take a -4 to sell Duffy for a Watford defender

I got 66 points. Several dgw players did well. Pogba, sterling, kdb. Auba, son, Eriksen all did ok too. Liverpool assets also scored high as always. Really not sure who people put in their team for this game week to be a disaster.

Guys, if I have this kind of squad:

    Foster
    Laporte | Robbo | Valery*
    Son | Eriksen | Sterling | JWP | Jota
    Kun | Jimmy
    Subs: Lloris, Vardy, Dunk, Duffy

Is it enough to do Dunk -> Doherty for free and press BB this week??
