It looks like Fantasy Premier League managers will have the opportunity to use a differential captain for green arrows in Double Gameweek 35.

Just as was the case in the previous two Gameweeks, there is no one standout candidate for this round of fixtures, which significantly reduces the risk of going against the grain.

In fact, such is the nature of the schedule over the next few days that even a handful of single Gameweek options can make a strong case for the armband.

As usual, we’re here to analyse each player to help you find the best captain…

As this article uses Opta data, the main bulk is only accessible to Fantasy Football Scout members.

Captain Poll

Once again, there is no clear and obvious favourite in the Fantasy Football Scout captain poll. Currently in the lead is Wolves striker Raúl Jiménez (£6.9m) but he has just 26.35% of the vote at the time of writing. He is certainly not a bad choice with five goal involvements in as many Premier League outings. Double Gameweek 35 has probably been the kindest on Wolves, who have two favourable fixtures coming up. At first, they host Brighton, who seem to have sleepwalked into the thick of the relegation battle, before Arsenal come to Molineux. The Gunners have just one clean sheet on the road this season, while Wolves, and Jiménez in particular, tend to do better against the bigger clubs.

Soaring into second place after an impressive display in the Champions League midweek is Raheem Sterling (£11.5m). He has five goals in his last four league matches and also has two fixtures in Double Gameweek 35. They pit Manchester City against Spurs (home) and Manchester United (away).

Such is the support for the defending champions despite difficult fixtures, that Sergio Aguero (£11.7m) is currently third in the captain poll. His one goal since Gameweek 28 is not of huge concern to the voters as he has 14.87% backing at the time of writing.

Son Heung-min (£8.8m) heads up a very tightly-packed contest to be the best of the rest for Double Gameweek 35. His support of 5.95% is only just a little more than Mohamed Salah (£13.2m) on 5.84%. While the Spurs man has two fixtures, against Manchester City (away) and Brighton (home), this is where we see how many managers are concentrating on single Gameweek players.

Salah and his Liverpool colleagues travel to Cardiff, who have conceded at least two goals in every match played against top-six sides this season. The Bluebirds shipped four when they went to Anfield in Gameweek 10, with Salah producing a goal and two assists. Furthermore, the Egyptian looks like he could be back to his best after his spectacular strike against Chelsea on Sunday ensured he had goals in back-to-back league games since Gameweek 23. Sadio Mané (£10.1m) is also in the top 10 with 3.55% support.

Arsenal’s Double Gameweek fixtures aren’t too bad as they face Crystal Palace (home) and Wolves (away). However, uncertainty over Unai Emery’s team selection is probably why none of their options backed by more than 4.41% in the captain poll. That honour falls to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.9m), who has a backed by just a few more than colleague Alexandre Lacazette (£9.4m) on 2.77%.

Kevin de Bruyne (£9.7m), Eden Hazard (£11.0m), Andre Gray (£5.9m), Gerard Deulofeu (£5.6m), Christian Eriksen (£9.3m) and Lucas Moura (£6.8m) are the only other options on 1% or more.

Who do you think will find form and step up to score big this GW, and why?

Maybe someone who hasn't had a double digit score in a while, who has a series of no attacking returns, or has very low ownership.

Do you think it will be an already-established name in many of our sides or someone who is a major differential?

Have you seen something in a someone's play or in their stats to make you think they could be ready for a breakout GW?

Llorente must be flying now even though he is poo he will be confident and he gets so many chances when he plays. Fancy him to start both

You've nailed my transfer dilemma. I'm leaning Llorente but Gray and Ings, both players who fit the loose criteria of this HT, are also potentially good picks

I wish I didn’t go triple spurs would be the easiest deeney > Llorente ever. Ings isn’t fit enough to start 2 in one week, he barely makes 60 even in one.
Gray is just terrible in a poor team and seems to only play with deeney. Success and Deulofeu started up front 6 times out of the 7 games deeney was out for so very tricky to nail onto one

I had Llorente, Son and Moura in my WC for this week, but after looking hard at the underlying stats, using the comparison tool, I've benched Llorente over Jiminez and King and dumped the other 2 for Mane and Doucoure

Yoshida. I'm a long time fan of his aerial threat AND positioning whenever Southampton get set pieces. Proved true again last game vs Wolves.

I wouldn't take out one of the Spurs players you have for Llorente (especially not if it'll require a hit). Just swap Deeney with one of the options being thrown around (Gray, Success, Ings, Long, Rondon...)

    Ryan/Gunn
    Duffy/Vertonghen/valery/TAA/Jonny
    Eriksen/Son/KdB/Sterling/JWP
    Jimenez/Aguero/Wilson

1.0 ITB for Eriksen to Mane next weekend

    BB would be- Gunn/JWP/Jonny/Duffy

don't want to sell duffy/ryan for a hit, might keep them as bench fodder for remainder of the season

I'm in a similar position and think I'm just keeping as bench fobber also

Depends on what your chasing and who your rivals have.

It’s risky hell yes it’s risky. But if he got 20 points this week nobody would be stunned.

You know the risks but as a punt I think it’s a good opportunity with high potential.

Just be prepared for it to backfire. But this weeks the week to gamble with no clear captain choice.

Presumably Son will start in the league due to be suspended for the first leg - do we expect Llorente to start both with Son & Moura likely starting?

Yeah. Now that Sissoko is out.

Llorente with Moura, Eriksen and Son behind him. Wazza and Alli/Winks in front of the D.

Southampton great offensively. Not good at all defensively. No CS. Bookmark this. They have been very lucky not to concede a lot more! Hit's for Valery, Yoshi Bed etc will be the Duffy/Dunk rough tales of this GW

Two away games. Not that bold a prediction.

      How about this...

Spurs won’t keep a clean sheet again this season.

Just seen so many people taking -4s for SOU def which is madness imo, unless needed for for cash but even then, better cheap options

        1. Richd
          • 14 Years

Depends why they’re doing it. They are a better option than Brighton for sure. More likely to get a clean or two.. but obviously not that much more likely based on bookies odds

However they have good fixtures for the rest of the season too, so make great 4th and 5th defenders.

I think Dunk to Yoshida for example could pay off. They are cheaper, nailed and have some potential.

Fair, just don't expect more than 2-4 points this GW (-4)
