As per usual, there are a tonne of questions ahead of the Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 7 deadline.

Manchester City assets continue to be under threat from rotation, Liverpool still can’t keep clean sheets and Norwich continue to blank away from home.

To answer some of these dilemmas, we have put together another panel of Fantasy managers to help you out…

Who’s on the panel this week?

FPL General – Contributor to the Scout site who has three finishes inside the top 400 in the last five seasons and who has a huge following on Twitter. General – aka Mark – also appears regularly on the official FPL Show.

FPL Hints – One of the most-followed names in the FPL community, a seasoned veteran as well as a Scout writer and an Official FPL panellist. Finished 110th in the world in 2011/12.

FPL Heisenberg – Influencer within the FPL community with a top 10k finish in 2016/17, followed by top 1k in 2017/18.

Joe – Our very own Scoutcast and video host, long-time servant of the site, keeper of the Goals Imminent table and seven top 10k FPL finishes.

Sterling. I think Son (and Tottenham) still has something to prove after coming back from suspension/injury. Salah against Sheffield United is a sound pick as well, but Manchester City against an Everton defence averaging 2 goals against them means Sterling (after his rest) has to be the best option of those three.

And yet not really, Everton will be a sterner test than people think, and Sterling has blanked more or less the last 5 games and in atrocious form. He had his rest playing actual games and couldn’t even score against Brighton ffs lol.

Hi club form hasn't been great for the last few games, but in the England games he played very well and scored a few goals, etc. I still think it's too soon to drop him, and I wouldn't be surprised if he scored this weekend.

One thing I've always struggled with over all my years playing fpl, knowing the right time to drop an underperforming player. You hang on too long and you potentially miss out on a lot of points. Drop him too early and he could come good.

For instance, I dropped Jota this week after having him from the start of the season. Of course the then went and scored his first goal of the season. I'm now contemplating selling Sterling, even though I know he will be one of the highest point scorers by the end of the season.

I guess I should end this with a question. How much time do you give an underperformer? When does waiting for him to score become detrimental to your team?

    1. Pinturicchio10
      6 years, 11 months ago

Depends on the player. Big difference between and underperforming mid priced mid and an fpl juggernaut like Sterling. Pick your premiums and stick.

Agreed. Moving Jota out wasn't a bad move, i dont think i would have waited that long.

Depends their fixtures and who else you could have instead. If another player is smashing it and they aren’t then it’s maybe obvious just to jump.
It is tricky though, generally I give players 2/3 weeks. If those were good fixtures they blanking in tho then maybe only two weeks max.

I do not give any time for flagged players. Just week on week of missed points money burning on your bench.

It depends how much money vs points the underpreformer is costing you and how it affects your rank. If they blank twice in a row then get benched and now likely to play Cup at over 12.0.m then outahere. I would not look forward to the weekend hoping that Lund will haul again 🙂

My team doing just fine without Sterling. Got rid GW5. If I still had him my rank would be really sh*tty.

if form is poor and tough fixtures are coming up I get rid. If there is a plum home tie next I might hold. getting rid of sterling this week though wud be a mistake and illogical. Last week was the time to make that move when he was highly likely to be rested.

TAA a better captain than salah this week? Sheffield so blunt in attack and very unlikely Wilder will take any chances. TAA loves coming onto teams who sit deep he could even match salah for attacking returns

Agree with all that you are saying but the only times I have ever seriously considered captaining a defender last season they managed to find a way to concede. Man City vs HUD (Mendy) and Chelsea vs CAR (Alonso)

Blades are not that blunt - 7 goals in 6, 13th for xG (not great, not terrible), only game in which we didn't score was our highest xG game of the season. Every chance of a Liverpool clean sheet, sure, but far from a banker

Want to hear your opinions, guys. Finally after a strong last week have a chance to make agressive moves, which I was waiting for a long time. Both moves include a hit (-4).

    1) Mane and Cantwell to Son and Mount (have Salah, Sterling, KDB and would captain Salah)
    2) Mane and Wickham to Mount and Abraham
    3) Save FT, for next week Salah and Wickham to Aubameyang + 6,0 mid

    Guys, appreciate any help:

Which of these drafts would you prefer:

    Pope / 4.0
    TAA / Otamendi / XXX / Rico / Lundstram
    KDB / XXX / XXX / Mount / 4.5
    Pukki / Abraham / XXX

    A) Robertson + Mane + Son + Wilson
    B) Robertson + Pepe + Son + Firmino
    C) Soyuncu + Sterling + Son + Firmino
    D) Robertson + Mane + Martial + Vardy
    E) Robertson + Sterling + Mane + Greenwood

Currently leaning on A), and thinking of swapping captaincy between KDB and Son for next 5-6 games

    Cheers

Is Firmino actually a viable option this year or is this just one of his streaks? Can't see him surpassing 200 points... where Mane i can see him making around 250 point close to Salah.

        C) only looks better if we think KDB isn't actually a viable captain option instead of Sterling

I need a differential to climb the rankings and i think that Liverpool double defence will do well in the next few games as they should be more tight.

Think he will be good this season, not an astronomical score but maybe his best yet. The issue is his price is really annoying and doesn’t seem to bode well with most team structures I think

So I have been posting my team on a few occasions and the advice has been consistent - dont touch city trio - kun, sterling, kdb before everton..

It makes sense, as we believe city will trash everton.

The downside is lack of option to bring in son and he has both form and fixtures..
It is amazing what I could if sold kun:

Kun, haller, ceballos => tammy, firmino, son (-4)

Dont you think this move can pay off big time?

    1. Pinturicchio10
      6 years, 11 months ago

It could. It could also blow up in your face. Always be wary of taking minus points for players that can smash huge scores.

      1. andres
        • 15 Years
        6 years, 11 months ago

It is „only” aguero... ceballos and haller are not capable of serious returns...

On the other hand son, tammy, firmino all could give double digit pay off..

        1. Pinturicchio10
          6 years, 11 months ago

Aguero haul, Haller goal, Ceballos assist.. with the deduction its hard to recover. Not saying it can't work, just be wary that's all.

Azpi for me. Alonso cool too if Emerson out for months although hopefully not. Kante back and an Alonso style necessity for 5 at the back could mean proper CS chances with their fixtures

Yeah definitely. Defence has been tight (albeit with limited clean sheets) so I'd fancy for their stock to rocket soon. Do like Maddison as well, but many might struggle to find the forward spot / cash for Vardy. Could be a tasty differential mind!

All of them are near or less than 10% ownership which makes it even better.

Soyuncu to finally make an appearance off benches now the fixtures are looking good.

Tomori if Chelsea keep a clean sheet.

Aubamayang to finally price rise after delivering every week, and with the fixtures, he will be the one to have. Although saying this, United to turn up and defend would not be surprising.

      Next bandwagons:

Worry with Yarmolenko is that he can quite often be a case of almost, but if he clicks he'll be massively popular at his price with his fixtures! May well make it into my team this week.

Good to see a really different shout with Deulofeu.

Can see Otamendi having an absolute monopoly on being targeted from set pieces - whilst Clean sheets might arguably be harder to come by, the potential for attacking returns is not bad at all (as CBs go)

        1. Licious Lizard
          • 13 Years

Yep Yarmolenko could Really go either way, but has looked very good from what I’ve seen. He has been building up fitness and with Lanzini out he will get a chance to shine.

Deulofeu is obviously a risky pick too with how Watford has been playing, but with their upcoming fixtures and the backing of Flores, he could be a shrewd pick.

Regarding Ota, I hope you are right as I brought him in myself this week. I just think City’s defence is dodgy - and looking at his attacking returns from previous seasons, it doesn’t seem like we can expect multiple attacking returns over the coming weeks.

          He is more like 5.0.
Also if 4th mid playing every week who dont get points can be a fail. Esp if someone can have playet like McGinn who would deliver at same time.
So yes, he can be a fail.

            still nowhere near a fail.

2 points is all you expect from a 4.5

so no. he cant be a fail, unless he redcards every week.

King and Trezeguet and then Robinson to become bandwagons with their easier fixtures and their luck turning.
McGinn and Wilson (Harry) to go the other way and stop punching above their weight.

I like the look of Maddison and their fixtures are fantastic... for me it's toss-up between 3-5-2 with Maddison or 3-4-3 with the similarly priced Pukki who I haven't owned yet.

Pukki as an individual is in great form but the team has so many cumulative injuries now it's ridiculousz making him a risky purchse currently but worth holding on to if you got him in before price rises IMO. I am expecting a couple of blanks and price falls before they get enough people back to full health to really compete.

13 of the same players here (Henderson, Diop vs Heaton, Rico) so I say it looks good!

The more time i spent on this site, the more transfers seem unavoidable.
Want to WC every week despite a very good rank just to do little things like Heaton Pope
    Digne Pereira
No Son seems so dangerous but next week Sterling could have outscored him.

    TAA / Zinch / Dunk / Digne / Boly
    Sterling / KDB / Mane / Cantwell / Dendonck
    Barnes / Haller / Wickham

    1 free transfer + 2m in bank.

Seeing a lot of people axeing Digne?.
Wise keeping 2 city players prone to rotation in Mid?
Upgrade a striker or add in a 6.5m one to take 3 up top?

    Advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Pope
    Aurier - Soyuncu - Lundstram
    Son - Sterling - KDB - Mane
    Wilson - Pukki - Abraham
