Hello, and welcome to a new series of articles I hope to do throughout the Allsvenskan season. I am no guru on the league, in fact it is my first season playing this particular fantasy game. However, what I am good at is reading numbers. These articles will hopefully serve as an effective summary of the key stats from the latest gw that can make your decisions just that little bit easier and highlight the key players. I go through game by game and will try to give some additional insight into the games I watched too. So without further ado, here’s the stat synopsis for Allsvenskan GW1.

IK Sirius vs Djurgårdens IF

Despite losing 2-0, Sirius were actually the dominant side taking 18 shots compared to just 10 from their opponents as the away side looked to miss influential defender Danielson who left the club in the off-season. Sirius’ fortunes were perhaps best summed up when Vecchia seemed to have equalised after his clever flick went through Vaiho’s legs, only for the ball to be kept from crossing the line by the GK’s rear leg. The left side of the field functioned particularly well for Sirius, with LWB Axel Björnström picking up 2 offensive bonus as a result. He had a match-high 4 key passes and comes in at just 4.5m.

To the surprise of many, Augustinsson got the nod ahead of Käck at LB for the away side and had a very good game with the most successful crosses (4) of any player in the match so expect plenty more rotation between the two. Anyone looking to double up on Djurgården’s defence is likely better served looking to Vaiho or Berg, at least until one of the competing LBs nails down that spot.

IFK Göteborg vs IF Elfsborg

Elfsborg clinched a 1-0 win thanks to Per Fricks’s goal (his only shot of the game) on the stroke of half-time, in what was an otherwise pretty subpar performance for the Elfsborg captain. Though Göteborg took more shots and had more possession, they couldn’t make it count and fashioned 0 Big Chances throughout the entire 90 minutes. Even worse, Robin Söder failed to muster a shot all game, grim reading for his near 21% ownership. Göteborg midfielder Erlingmark will now serve a suspension after his 84th minute RC.

IFK Norrköping vs Kalmar FF

This game was one of utter home dominance and would have finished more than 2-1 if not for the heroics of Hägg Johansson in goal. His 8 saves were at least 3 more than any other keeper this gw. The home side was perhaps unfortunate not to keep a cs as the goal for Kalmar came from a deflected FK.

Sead Hakšabanović marked committing his long-term future to the club with a stellar MOTM performance in which he had 5 shots on target and 3 Key Passes to go with his goal. If he can put up more such performances he will definitely prove value even at 10m.

Now 7.1m, midfielder Simon Thern also stood out. He played 4 Key Passes, created 1 Big Chance and made 13 ball recoveries on his way to a 12 point haul with 2 assists and 2 bonus in both the offensive and defensive categories.

Hammarby IF vs Östersunds FK

Hammarby recovered from an early Paulinho penalty miss as Tanković scored a brace from his 4 shots on target, including a sensational strike for the second to seal a 2-0 win. Much like the Norrköping game, this was utter dominance for the home side, whose attack-minded approach completely smothered Östersunds. Denis Widgren also deserves a mention for his fine game at LB. He produced 4 Key Passes along with a game-high 5 tackles which bodes well for future bonus and assist potential. In midfield, Bojanić chipped in with 2 assists from his 6 Key Passes and 1 Big Chance created to pick up 2 Offensive bonus while Kačaniklić had a quiet game to the disappointment of his 41% ownership and those like myself who had given him the armband. He would’ve had an assist if not for Paulinho missing the penalty. This is also fairly big news as it is now likely that the penalty-taking duties will return to Tanković, which could be a key factor in captaincy decisions going forward.

Perhaps the only positive in a poor Östersunds performance was that 4.5m def Haugan looked solid and achieved 14 CBI, collecting 2 Defensive bonus as a result. He looks to be critical if they are to keep any CS this season.

Örebro SK vs AIK

In what looks to have been an evenly matched game, the hosts were perhaps unlucky not to come away with at least a point. They had more shots and missed 2 Big Chances, as they slumped to a 2-0 loss. The fact that AIK GK Haugaard was MOTM says it all really. 18 yo Robin Tihi capped a solid game at CB with a goal from a trademark Larsson set-piece. For the home side, 8.5m mid Besara (who played as a striker) carried all the threat for his team, creating 1 Big Chance, playing 2 Key Passes and taking 5 total shots.

Helsingborgs IF vs Varbergs BolS

To the joy of his 18% ownership, striker Astrit Seljmani was the star of the show scoring twice and collecting an assist to become the gws highest-scoring fwd, though perhaps he was a tad lucky to do so well. He won a penalty that he himself converted and scored with his only 2 shots on target while getting an assist from his 1 Key Pass. Nevertheless, he certainly looks to be a player that will outperform his now 6.1m price tag. As for Helsingborgs, it was a day to forget and the early signs are worrying for the 11% that own Max Svensson, particularly after his 59th min sub following a poor performance.

Falkenbergs FF vs BK Häcken

Probably the most evenly matched game of Gameweek 1, nothing too worthy of note apart from the highly owned Irandust returning a goal with his only shot on target, and 4.5m Falkenbergs CB van Looy being robbed of an offensive bonus point despite playing 3 Key Passes. Christoffer Carlsson got an assist and played 4 Key Passes, as well as obtaining 2 Offensive Bonus. He could be a decent option with some good attacking fixtures ahead, provided his teammates can find their shooting boots.

Malmö FF vs Mjällby AIF

Who else but Anders Christiansen? The newly appointed Malmö captain bagged a brace in a MOTM performance that saw him play 3 Key Passes, create 1 Big Chance and take 7 shots, 3 of which were on target. If he’s not in your team yet, he should be, especially with 2 great matchups up next. 4.5m fwd Tim Prica also had a decent showing playing a game-high 5 Key Passes and grabbing an assist for Christiansen’s first. Keep an eye on him as he should be a very useful budget option should he continue to get starts. At the back, Lasse Nielsen was a rock achieving 12 CBI while Eric Larsson looked particularly good going forward.

Despite losing 2-0, the away side did show promise, most notably through Besard Sabovic, a 6.0m mid playing up top. He had 3 shots, played 3 Key Passes and created 1 Big Chance whilst also making 6 ball recoveries that enabled him to collect 2 Offensive and 1 Defensive Bonus. Mjällby now have a decent run of fixtures and so he could be a fantastic budget option for anyone wanting to make a midfield transfer.

Which 3 of these players would you pick for the next GWs:

    - Ahmedhodzic
    - Nielsen
    - Knudsen
    - Berg
    - Augustinsson

Can't afford Witry, Une Larsson or Malmö Larsson ...

Which option do you guys prefer?

    A) Svensson, Rieks, Kadiri -> Thern, Tankovic, Prica (-4)
    B) Svensson, Rieks -> Thern, Besara
    C) Svensson, Rieks, Paulinho -> Hansabanovic, Bojanic, Frick (-4)

    1. MTPockets

If comfortable with the hit then C. Mostly b/c Haksabanovic and biased as had Thern for a while last season and did sweet fa. (I've done Da Graca, Svensson, Ring -> Bjornstrom, Vecchia, Haksabanovic). I don't know anything about Prica though. Otherwise B looks ok too.

Out of those, I'd defenitly go for C, although I'm no fan of taking unnecessary hits. You could do Paulinho, Svensson -> Frick, Haksabanovic/Bojanic this week and save the last transfer until next week. Both Haksabanovic and Bojanic have tricky fixtures this GW, so there's really no rush to get them in for this GW.

This is a tough week with a lot of red flags in my squad but I think I will look to get out Svensson and Moro to find some funds for Ring > Haksabanovic next week.

At least captaincy looks easy with AC (cue a rest). I hope we get the lineups before the deadline.

Don't think people should grieve the AC captaincy, it was such an obvious pick, and I think it was sweet to have an obvious pick for once. Most of us are in that very same situation.

I had two options this GW. Use my 2ft to bring in Tolinsson and Lauritsen and then wildcard next GW. Or only bring in Tolinsson, use 2ft next GW to solve my issues. As it turned out, I only brought in Tolinsson, saved 1ft which I'll now have burn since I'll wildcard next GW anyway. Can't just sit here and watch the whole season pass by, waiting for executives to make up a schedule with potential DGW.

    Strand - Ahmedhodzic - Witry - Widgren
    Tankovic - Kacaniklic - Christiansen - Yusuf
    Selmani - Kujovic
    (Nilsson - Abraham - J V Persson - Jansson)

Having a look at my team now, and I'm thinking I should do Christiansen + Kujovic > Hakšabanović + Nyman (-4) before next deadline. Hate taing a it though, an I might want to look at replacing Anestis and Yusuf as we – an what do I do about Selmani? Is it too early to wildcard?

    2. Bob Sacamano

Haksabanovic looks essential now, but I'm not sure it's worth it on the expense of AC. One option could be to upgrade Yusuf to Haksabanovic and downgrade Kujovic? Despite his fine start, I don't think Nyman is a good option in this game. 9.6 is a lot of money for those 5-7 points, especially compared to what you can get from midfield.

Too early to wildcard? I wouldn't say so since I pushed the button last night, but I don't think your team is in need of a wildcard. Selmani is in my team now, he was doubtful for the game yesterday and will now get a full weeks rest, hopefully he'll be back for next GW.

      1. TAT
        • 8 Years

Downgrading Kujovic is definitely an option, but it would leave me terribly short up front, with Selmani and Abraham as my other two strikers.

I'm down to 10k at the moment, not counting Abraham's points off the bench. I'll still be below average though, and I do still feel tempted to just play the WC and be done with it…

I don't think your team is in that bad shape. Try mixing with your team a little, and if you can get a really good wildcard team out of it, then maybe hit the button.

If you're at 10K now then you're still miles ahead of me. I havn't got many decisions right this season and hit the button last night in a final attempt to turn the season around.

It's been a difficult start, hasn't it? I've found getting the captaincy right very hard too.

Just for fun, I put this team together. Didn't put much thought into it, it was just a draft to see what I could do:

            Brattberg - Nilsson
            Witry - Björnström - Ahmedhodzic - Lauritsen - Strand
            Haksabanovic - Tankovic - Kačaniklić - Norlin - Irandust
            Frick - Abraham - Selmani

Very light in the striker spots, but why not – it's just a draft anyway.

Lauritsen by a landslide! Castegren also a good option if you're concidering a doubble-up, but if just one, then Lauritsen. Gerson have been moved to LB and his stats have been poor since. He'll get his clean sheets, but apart from that, you'll be paying 6.5 hoping for a penalty kick every game.

After a record low 24p GW I've gone against every AF instict I have, and hit the wildcard button last night. My new team will be extremly template, which will obviously make it difficult for me to catch up ground, but at least I wont have 8-10 players that I hate anymore 🙂

Still tinkering with my team, any thoughts or suggestions are more than welcome.

    Bojanic + Levi
    or
    Tankovic + Vecchia

Vecchia started on the bench tonight but looked amazing again when coming on. Levy on the other hand playing for a top team in great form.

Also concidering doing some short term moves with planned transfers (which I know is usually a big no-no!).Would you ditch AC for the next 2 games in order to get him back in after that? And if so, who would you go for as a placeholder? Levy (if going with Tankovic + Vecchia), Bojanic (would be triple Hammarby midfield against Mjällby and Varberg) or Irandust (Helsingborg up next, though Häcken are terrible at the moment)? If going with the triple Hammarby midfield, I'll also have to drop Widgren in defence, possibly for Castengren.

    Cheers!

I've bought in Irandust for AC this week. Think he's a good buy and has good stats. I also think Levi came off injured but not sure how serious it was.

Hehe, I did the opposite! I have watched Häckens first 3 games and they have been dreadful, especially in attack. Irandust is trying but he's clearly suffering from having a much worse environment this season. His stats doesn't impress me so far, and the goals he's scored have been very furtunate.

But just the fact that he's playing Helsingborg at home and that I've got pretty much every decision wrong this season probably makes him a great pick for next GW 🙂

I'd go for Tankovic + Vecchia but for context I got Vecchia in last week and wish I had Tankovic. Agree that position, stats and fixtures support Vecchia risk at his price. But Levi probably a better pick from a better team, so comes down to how much you rate Tankovic over Bojanic (shot/goal metrics vs. key passes/assists). Yes I'd drop AC in a wc if replaced by a placeholder - not sure who tbh as don't have a good handle on team form yet.

        Thanks for the input!

Vecchia keeps impressing, the only doubt is his fitness, but I guess you'll have to accept the odd rest every now and then. Vecchia would free up more cash, and would allow me to rotate two 4.5 keepers instead of having just one 4.5 set and forget. I'mm probably drop AC then, possibly for the Hammarby triple up in midfield. Could then decide later on whether to drop Tankovic or Bojanic.

        Cheers!

So you guys prefer Levi over Thern?

Defenitly! Levi is a much more attacking player than Thern, who's been overperforming so far. Quality footballer, but not the best AF option IMO.

OK so I ended the week on 48 points even with that Christiansen captaincy fail.

Eagerly awaiting the next article so I can make sure I've got the right team for the week! Or if not an article a post at least heh.

Not a bad score this week! Something in the mold of a scout picks for GW4 is definitely coming up in the next few days, one way or another. It’s been a lot of work behind the scenes lately but unfortunately very little actually posted with the short turnaround, and me recently becoming a dad 🙂

Keep an eye out for any news and hold the transfers (Swedish cup quarter finals tomorrow which sees half the league in action) 😉

Thanks, it's an incredible feeling no doubt! 🙂

On the footballing side of things very happy to see the cup resume, though the packed schedule and lack of proper pre-season is wreaking havoc on the fantasy portion of the game so far.
