The arrival of Nathan Aké (£5.5m) at Manchester City could improve the club’s defensive prospects in 2020/21.

Pep Guardiola’s men were missing consistency and strength in depth at centre-back last season but Aké can be stabling influence this time around.

We have assessed the former Bournemouth defender’s credentials ahead of the new campaign, what impact he will have on the City defence and whether or not that can make him a viable Fantasy Premier League asset.

As we have used Opta data, only those with a valid Fantasy Football Scout subscription can access this article in full.

What defensive contributions did Aké make last season?

I’ve been asking on here for years in a hypothetical sense how much Messi would cost on FPL..

But this time is different, how much would he be?

Me, probably. He'll be priced to deter mass ownership, forcing those who get him to destroy the rest of their squad.

I think (though I might be wrong) that RVP was 14m at one point. So you would imagine Messi would be that too.

Imagine humiliating teams like Man United under Fergie, Arsenal under Wenger, Man City under Pep etc, and still have people say Messi would struggle against the average teams in the bottom 14 of the league!
If Salah can score 30 goals with ease I’m pretty sure Messi can do better! Pretty logical

It's just a mentality people have in order to justify that something greats cannot actually be that great, and they do it by putting conditions on it, "he wouldn't perform in this league, not a big game player"

Given his age might play a huge factor in his overall form, but I'm sure he'll make a huge impact

  21. KAPTAIN KANE SERVES THE PAI…

    Not a draft, more of a structure - 5-4-1:

    - 4.0 as the 5th defender, 4.5 mid off the bench if no show
    - 3 big hitters in midfield
    - 3 premium defenders
    - 1 premium (most expensive) striker

    4.5 | 4.0
    7.5 | 6.5 | 6.0 | 4.5 | 4.0
    12.0 | 11.5 | 10.5 | 5.0 | 4.5
    10.5 | 4.5 | 4.5

Main weaknesses are no mid priced mids and 2 x 4.5 strikers, which may not be much of an issue if Brewster gets a loan to another prem club.

    Food for thought.

      As a football fan, absolutely
      As a FPL manager, no

He'd be the highest owned player in the history of the game and you may as well remove captaincy

Even though I would love to have him in my team, so would literally *everybody* else. Unless injured/rotated, no other captains likely unless a big heavy hitter is on amazing form against a dross team. Would make FPL a bit more boring in that sense, as well as reduce everyboy's overall budget :/

No - his ownership levels would ruin the game

He's no CR7 tho. Messi would be overpriced at 12mil. Enough fapping I say.

Thought so! So it's do a Gareth Bale for a year, then go to Man City on a free ?

they just want the money, Koeman has already made it clear through his moves, he won't structuring the team around Messi, and Suarez has clearly been shown the boot

Too bad Stoke play in championship so we won’t find out whether he can make it on a cold rainy night there 🙁
