The arrival of Nathan Aké (£5.5m) at Manchester City could improve the club’s defensive prospects in 2020/21.

Pep Guardiola’s men were missing consistency and strength in depth at centre-back last season but Aké can be stabling influence this time around.

We have assessed the former Bournemouth defender’s credentials ahead of the new campaign, what impact he will have on the City defence and whether or not that can make him a viable Fantasy Premier League asset.

As we have used Opta data, only those with a valid Fantasy Football Scout subscription can access this article in full.

What defensive contributions did Aké make last season?

But truthfully the only Palace player I’m interested in right now is Guaita with Michell half possible I guess but PvA news puts the kibosh on that

Massive for Messi to say he wants to leave. He's been so loyal to the club.

For him to make this decision now, he will surely go now. He has a clause in his contract to say he can leave at the end of the season if he chooses to but barca dragging it out saying the clause is invalid due to season extension will just make it even worse.

No way Barca are getting the £700m release clause so they will be stuck with a miserable messi paying him over a £1m a week.

I dont see anyone being able to afford Messi to be honest. There is one feck load of money involved. Do not think he can just pack up and leave. The contract Barca and Messi have is probably like a lif sentence between the two.

      Mitchell came on early

Ferguson not in squad and someone else got RB minutes.

PvA back sooner than expected. Riedewald started LB (bit odd that) but got injured early. Mitchell got most of game.

Kouyate started in the centre (as he does for Senegal) and Kelly came on half time. Reasonable to assume that was plan for Mitchell too I think. RH looking at options at LB and CB

After a lot of tinkering, I am fairly satisfied with my team. Rate it please and of course give some suggestions. Too much of good choices this year but i've covered all bases i've wanted:

    McCarthy
    Trent/KWP/Lascelles
    Auba/Salah/Son/ASM
    Jimenez/Mitrović/Ings

    Nyland/Taylor/Mitchell/Gordon

    0.5 itb
    City&UTD plan:
    GW2 - Ings > Martial
    GW3 - Auba > KDB

      Lascelles > Saliba

Start with Martial on the bench instead of doing the hokey cokey.

      Nice team overall.

Martial on the bench means practically 2 players less for GW from starting 11:
        - No Ings (Since Martial is on the bench)
        - Would have to play Mitchell or somebody who is not assured of start

I think free transfer before GW2 is less painful option

        Don't care. I don't see City as a threat. They're artificial.

Where would Messi actually fit - city, Utd maybe the new Chelsea - doubt Chelsea have the cash. So it’s Utd or city, surely he doesn’t want to move to Manchester!!!

There is zero chance he moves from a Barca who need rebuilding to a United side who still need rebuilding.

Premium priced DEFs like Doherty - would you ever bench them?
Example: Doherty v ManC in gameweek 2
would you consider Justin v WBA instead?
    Cheers.

Yeah I'm thinking about dropping Justin after looking more closely at that Leicester back line.
