The arrival of Nathan Aké (£5.5m) at Manchester City could improve the club’s defensive prospects in 2020/21.

Pep Guardiola’s men were missing consistency and strength in depth at centre-back last season but Aké can be stabling influence this time around.

We have assessed the former Bournemouth defender’s credentials ahead of the new campaign, what impact he will have on the City defence and whether or not that can make him a viable Fantasy Premier League asset.

As we have used Opta data, only those with a valid Fantasy Football Scout subscription can access this article in full.

What defensive contributions did Aké make last season?

Predicted line ups updated, if you hadn't noticed. Well I found it useful even though it can only be 'as is'.

    Chelsea transfer business is nuts.

They’re getting Malang Sarr now too, alongside (looking ever likely?) Thiago Silva, Chilwell, Havertz?

Nuts. All they need is a keeper and they could genuinely challenge for the title

It looks to me like Chelsea could possibly be contenders this season, but much moreso for the 2021/22 season. They will have their forward line all but set up with Havertz, Werner etc. You would think the PL experience this year will stand to those guys, they will have time to gel, etc. It will take another transfer window or two to try to recruit and improve in defense. T Silva seems a sensible stop-gap for this season but not a long term option. Sarr looks like he will be loaned out. Lamps and Chelsea board will probably take this year to look at who is worth keeping in defense and spend the year recruiting a better keeper.

Thinking of trying to keep nailed on cheap players as set and forget options so that I can prioritise higher valued players when transferring players.

Can anyone think of any players in the 6.0 million and below bracket that are likely(as they can be) long term keepers?

Madness on this Messi news. Was living in Barcelona last year and its a city whose people are dramatically divided on almost everything... except football. Messi's presence in almost god-like in the unity he brings. That city lives and breathes football and if that goes tits up (looks like it will with these owners), could be absolutely manic.

Hard to imagine that. Pep has managed Messi before so he knows how to get the best out of him. Also a striker with a playmaker behind like KDB means flopping is a slim possibility. It's not like Messi doesn't know how to score.

Despite it possibly being justified now given the clowns that seem to run the club, I’d really hate to see Messi leave Barça.

Stick it out Leo! Or if you’ve gotta leave, try PSG to relink with Neymar and win CL again

I think the most shocking football related news is flying under the radar here this evening.

Messi sent in his transfer request.. via fax!

Ferguson is a dicey option, he didn't even make the bench in today's friendly, check the left-back Mitchell in CRY, 4.0 as well

Plus, you need some spurs cover at least for the beginning fixtures

I would bet 12/1 Inter Milan and 50/1 Leeds
