In this first instalment, the FPL BlackBox co-host and Andy chat about Jack Grealish (£8.0m), Harry Kane (£12.5m) and Danny Ings (£8.0m) before launching into a discussion on their latest drafts.

Mark explains his 3-5-2 set-up, premium midfielder choices and omission of Bruno Fernandes (£12.5m).

Andy throws his own selections under the spotlight, explaining his preference for a 3-4-3 and inclusion of Harvey Barnes (£7.0m).

      It is close to optimal. The difference between Barnes, Greenwood, Jota and Gundogan isn't big though.

    The difference with 80% of the RMT:s here with expected pts in teal life has to be quite minimal. Whether we use RMT-tool or not, there are a lot of assets that are pretty similar. All those 7-7.5 mids (Barnes,Jota, Greenwood, Gundogan) seem to be good for short for example.

          Lukaku can give extra fire power but still the fact is Chelsea last season didnt score much.

    With Amartey starting and Everton being shocking in defence, meaning that Digne gets ditched, has caused the new and final 352 template, plus the BruNo drafts have taken a blow with Cities poor performance in the Community Shield.

    Now let's look at the Bruno/Salah (c) rotation for the 1st 10 gwks

    Salah v CRY gwk5
    Salah v bre / Bruno v AST gwk6

    Conclusion: it seems Son has easier fixtures than Bruno when I wouldn't want to (c) Salah , when the choice is given between Salah and Bruno I think Salah has the easier fixtures bar 3,4 and 7, but I think Son has an easier fixture than Bruno in 3 and 7 , leaving only gwk 4 I would (c) Bruno in 1st 10 gwks , but this gwk Son has cry. Son has the easier fixtures over Salah in 3,4,7 and 9. Son/Salah wins this, easiest fixture home or away.

    But If you want easy home (c) bar 3 and 8 , Bruno has 1,4,6,7 (4), Salah has 2,5,10 (3), gwk9 ??

    So I need to decide between A or B
    A) Bruno, Jota and Maguire
    B) Son, Mahrez and Dias

      Has his touch and game intelligence improved? Physically he's a beast and he can haul etc but I rate him behind Kane on those things, last I saw. More of a football than FPL point as he will probably get better supply.

    I think Liverpool could spank Nor so Mane is a lock with the idea of moving him to Son, then i could use the 2m to upgrade greenwood to sancho when fit, later buendia or ings to Raphina or Bamford or what ever bandwagon

      This sums up my evening!

      I’d go for Ings.

      I’ve debated Sanchez or Martinez and was persuaded earlier that Martinez might not represent as good value as last season with the £1m increase.

      i would 100% upgrade Raphina to Barnes(long term) or Jota(short term).
      I dont see the appeal in raphina when the fixtures arent good, he is amazing but Leeds can't finish all the chances he makes. against tougher oposition i preffer the counter pace of Harrison. i would just go with a player with better fixtures and get him in week 4/5

          Ok. It's a serious injury. Look to Laporte for an example of what it can take to recover from this. The guy has had a half a game or so in a friendly.

          Whatever he plays in the next friendly, if you think that will translate to consistency in the premier league, you're optimistic.

        With Chelsea getting lukaku and Gundo now an option i can easily fit Bruno back in

        The Mahrez + Havertz draft isnt as appealing now with Gundo Bruno easily achievable

    The more i think about it the more I'm tempted to go without Bruno. Whats the point of a 12m player who i won't captain in the first 2 weeks. I also like Son's game against Watford in GW3. Two 12m assets in midfield is just too much.

          I quite fancy Bruno GW1. Might wait a few. Try to save a free double transfer until things are clearer. Might be Bruno is indispensable and alternative route needed, if at all

      Ive been no Bruno all pre-season until yesterday news (had Havertz and Mahrez) but Havertz now not as appealing and no KDB its all change

      Now Gundo is an excelletn option again and i can easily put Bruno in

      My only 'downside' is waiting an extra week to week 3 to assess the Son /Kane situation but its not a huge downside.

      Salah will be out week 3 for one of them which i like as a short term punt

          Im looking to have a set defence and move around the big players until wildcard after week 6

          Kane or Son at spurs have nice week3-4 fixtures when Salah doesnt.

        Yes the downside here is that the alternatives e.g. Son and Mahrez have a tricky game. The only other alternative i could think of is Greenwood or Sancho (if he's going to start), as they have good games.

          I can easily fit Greenwood in with Bruno so now the alternatives arent really there to exclude him

          Plus i like United fixtures in week 2-4 so its not a terrible move to have him

          Salah i plan to lose for 2 weeks in 3-4. Also think this liverpool team has had its peak.

          Dont expect TAA or Salah to be value picks by season end. But fine to start with

        no guarantees of anything. Sancho, Pogba, changes to pens, poor form over summer etc. Wouldn't assume he'll be the same player. At 12.5 it doesn't really matter, unless Salah goes to crap and Bruno fires.
